Title: Jedi Turbo Speeder
Post by: Jesse James on August 13, 2010, 04:07 PM
Sounds like a new vehicle slipped into the 2010/2011 stuff...  2010 I guess from the sounds of it.

Curious to see good pics of this.

Very cool.  I can see it getting the skittle treatment though, but it's all good.

Weird...  Season 3 item?  I don't recall it from the show off-hand.  I'd have thought they'd go with the Coruscant speeder Ani has before something they'd make up, so I can only imagine this goes with the toon next season if it wasn't already in it.

It looks familiar though... I'm pretty sure it was from Season 2...  I think maybe it was used in one of the Baby Fett episodes at the end of the year?

Yeah, the flared wings in the rear made me think it's been seen, but I don't recall a Jedi Speeer with an astromech slot...  It wouldn't have anything to do with mandalore I suppose.  Ahsoka chasing those two chicks?

Took a quick peek through some eps on my ipod - Ahsoka and Plo fly in one of those Jedi Turbo ships in the "Lethal Trackdown" episode (season finale).  The one they are riding doesn't seem to have a droid slot, but it was in the ships initial design drawings -

It looks pretty reasonably accurate too...  The tail may be shortened a little I guess, but that's about it.

Makes more sense without the astromech. :)

EDIT:  Ah, side-by-side (sorta) reveals it's a bit tiny so I'll likely pass, but it's cool to see them do this ship up out of the blue.  Nobody had this thing rumored even that I recall.

Now then, new thread for the Droid Tri-fighter?  ;D

This is pretty cool looking.

I like the fact that it will give me something to do with at least one set of the extra Anakin and Ashoka figures I have.

Design wise I am not a fan and am surprised at it making it to production in this coming line as it gets such little screen time (part of one episode)

Will pass.

Wait for the purple Mace Windu's Jedi Turbo Speeder redeco, and the Darth Vader Jedi Turbo Speeder, which he used while waiting for his TIE-Turbo Speeder to arrive.  :P

I am actually really digging this one. I like how it's a plain speeder but it sure kills the how aggressive argument from Hasbro. It looks like a good generic speeder that will work well for senators even Bail Organa.

Looks interesting.  I vaguely remember this from the CW series, but it does have some cool features.  The variable geometry stabilizers are cool for one.  I'm always happy to get a vehicle with an astromech slot, too.  I'll definitely be buying one.

I'm wagering some of those hinges hide "missle" pods or something JACK.  There's stuff not shown there that appears to "flip out" or something.  I'm betting it's a Cloud Car type of deal.

I'm definitely getting this. I love that design. I'll stick with the red one only though. No reason to have a different color version if the only one seen in the show was this one.

FYI, this is In Stock now at BBTS, but only as part of the larger case assortment. For some reason you can't order the thing by itself.

I will probably have to order this the online route because the previous TCW vehicle wave (Tri-Fighter and HMP) has not even hit retail yet so this is probably at least another month or two out. Dammit.  >:(

The $20-$25 vehicles are about the last things I would consider ordering online. I have never, ever had an issue finding any of them in stores. Plus many of them, like the JSFs, are carried forward. In addition, case assortments are typically crappy. (i.e. 2 repacked JSFs and two new vehicles) As cool and fun as the Turbo Speeder looks, I can definitely wait to find it in stores.

I dunno....Online eTailers have had the Gunship & TriFighter for how many months now?  I've still yet to see either out in the wild, but hopefully this ship won't be a problem.  Really looking forward to it.

I agree you'd get raped on buying a case of these things, but you could come out alright picking up 1-2 at a time courtesy of HTS. I got both the Tri-Fighter and HMP for less than what they would have cost at retail.

I'm just tired of waiting for new stuff...if I can get it early and save time and hassles driving around looking for stuff in vain, that's the way to go, IMO.

But why not just be patient, instead? You said yourself you got a couple new vehicles from HTS cheaper than retail. I, myself, got the Droid Gunship and Xanadu Blood for like $18 each in early December. What you were proposing paying BBTS was pushing $30 a vehicle, taking into account half of the case has been out forever. So, when you think about it, you're paying an even-higher premium for the new vehicles. By paying it, you also support that ridiculous pricing.
Relax, monitor the reports around your area and, when they get close, then search more intensely.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm definitely not planning on buying anything off BBTS...my point is more that if it shows up there, it can't be too far off from places like HTS or SWS or whateves, where it actually can be obtained for essentially what you'd pay at retail. I'm definitely NOT advocating paying premium prices out of sheer impatience.

I think there's potential middle ground there that offers good opportunities - you're getting the stuff before it hits retail so you save time and hassle on that end, but you're waiting just long enough for it to hit the more mainstream sites with less overhead and the ability to charge less than the early arrival gouging prices.

This is exactly what I did with the Tri-Fighter and HMP, and I couldn't be happier with the decision.

I'll keep an eye out for it, I saw you're looking for it.  I thought I'd seen it, but now I'm not sure if I'm misremembering.  I saw a Tri-Fighter once...  Never saw the Droid Gunship anywhere though.
Title: Re: Jedi Turbo Speeder
Post by: McMetal on January 21, 2011, 03:43 PM
Nope, it has not made it to retail yet, nor has the Tri-Fighter/HMP Wave even. Plo Koon's JSF came out with the Xanadu Blood and I only ever saw this at TRU.

I check HTS every day and the Turbo Speeder is not listed there yet either. Not even for Preorder.

It has not even been available at any of the major online retailers except as part of a larger case assortment, which is stupid expensive.

I'm jonesing for this thing too!

This is In Stock and available to order now from Hasbro Toy Shop!  ;D

I ordered one immediately, came to $34.71 with tax, shipping, etc. Wish I had a valid promo code but oh well.

I'm paying $10 over MSRP, but I just don't feel like waiting til late spring on this thing. Considering I bought the Droid Gunship and Tri-Fighter back in December and they have yet to show up at retail, I think it's a good call.

Even better if the thing actually shows up in pristine shape - I won't even have to exchange it.

I got this in the mail today from HTS. The package was freaking mint, much better condition than the Gunship or Tri-Fighter when they arrived.

I wish I could post a lot of details about what a sweet vehicle it is, because it does seem to have a lot of cool play functionality, but it's staying MISB.  ;D

I hear it has popped back up on HTS In Stock once or twice since the initial offering, so it might be worth keeping an eye out for.

I've only seen Plo's fighter and Cad Bane's ship, and they've been few and far between. No Tri-Fighters or Gunships. I take comfort in knowing the none of the $25 vehicles have really been "rare." I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities to get the Turbo Speeder (and Gunship, and Tri-Fighter) before the end of the year.

That does appear to be a case. A couple of stores in my area seem to sit on the same vehicles for awhile, and only appear to stock new ones once a month. There is one Target that seems to stock a new case every week, and the vehicles seem to sell through pretty well. Unfortunately, most of the cases that are stocked are the wave with the AT-AP and Hyena Bomber. Not a bad assortment, but kinda dull since I've had those vehicles since September.

I see the same vehicles around for the most part...  Ahsoka's fighter and the AT-AP repaint largely.  I see CC's at K-Mart though, but not everywhere else.  I haven't seen a Snowspeeder in ages which kinda blows because I probably would've picked up a 3rd or 4th.

Haven't seen Cad Bane's ship yet, when I do I'm sure I'll pick it up.

It's funny how different things are in different parts of the country. AT-APs and Hyena Bombers move fairly quickly, while the Swamp Speeders and AATs do the lingering. I rarely see any of the Wave 1 vehicles anymore, despite the large number of blue Clone tanks that were around a few months ago.

I'm still shocked by how well the Jedi Starfighters sell. I'm not sure what the case packs were, but Obi-Wan's is the only one I see around. All of the Anakin starfighters have dried up.

Chewie, if you'd like a Cad Bane starfighter, shoot me a PM. I'm thinking about getting rid of mine.

The Hyena bomber mvoes ok here except one WM has like 5 of them.  It's all they have too.  Very odd.

BTW I see Obi Fighters a bit but you're right, that Anakin Fighter is LONG gone.  I'm surprised we didn't see it repacked.  He must be one of the top selling CW figures.  I'd love to know of the CW line which figures dominate the sales like a top 10 list.  I'm sure Anakin figures are #1.

Inspiration for the speeder perhaps.

Since I live near Piet it's pretty much the same a bit south from him - I saw Plo Koon's JSF once and that's the one I bought to open. I saw the Xanadu Blood once, I opened it, but it was defective so I returned it.

I recently ordered the Xanadu Blood, Droid Tri-fighter Repaint and the Droid Gunship from HTS - was gonna get them as my openers, but they arrived in mint shape, so they're my MIB ones.

So now, I'm just waiting for the next time the Droid Gunship comes in stock so I can order all four vehicles with the intention of opening the Xanadu Blood, Droid Tri-Fighter and Droid Gunship and keeping the Plo Koon JSF MIB. If by some miracle the Jedi Turbo Speeder comes back in stock, I'll pull the trigger then too.

I have no faith in any of these vehicle waves hitting the stores locally to me, there's just too many of the Hyena Bomber wave ships hanging around - the TRU near where I work got in more ships, but it was a case with the V-19, Hyena Bomber, Trade Federation Tank and Obi-Wan's JSF - just what my area needed, more of the same vehicles that already aren't selling.

Man V-19's...  I think I saw the blue boxed one once, and never again.  The original blew out too.  I was shocked considering how many there were.  Once a sale hit, those things moved in the old boxes.  Glad I got with the first sale I ever saw those at.  I love that little ship. :)  Wish I had a hyperspace ring for one.

For what it's worth, there is at least one unconfirmed report circulating that this has been spotted at Wal-Mart here in the States. (St Louis)

I am skeptical but it may be worth keeping an eye out for this on the shelves.

I don't know what the heck they are doing with their mid-size vehicles anymore, but their distribution certainly seems to be a mess right now.

They'll probably show up after April, once all the Clone Cash has expired.  ::)

I bought another one of these today after seeing it on the shelves for the first time at Walmart. Haven't decided if I will keep it or not, but maybe.

I would really love to know how they managed to screw the pooch so badly on getting the Tri-Fighter and HMP out. That is really perplexing. I'm glad to have these at all, but I would have preferred swapping out my sub-par packages for mintier boxes.

Consider yourself lucky that you live near a WalMart that is getting new vehicles in, all of the ones by me are still clogged with the Hyena Bomber wave and have plenty of the Trade Federation Tank, AT-AP and Swamp Speeder to go along with it.

I'm no crazy retail hunter like I used to be, but I still visit 2-3 different stores a week and I still don't see any gunships/Plo fighters/or this thing for what it's worth.  Has me worried that nothing else new in this class was shown at TF means the end of the line?  Ya probably not, but ya....

I decided to keep my spare of this thing since I don't expect any new mid-size vehicles until the Fall. I did take it back to Walmart yesterday for a price adjustment though, since I had a $5 Clone Cash coupon to use that expires on 4/1.

No more signs of any other new stuff about.

The one Piet grabbed for me is gonna be my MIB one - I found one in a beaten up box at a different TRU the same day and I opened it up that night when I got him.

It's really a great vehicle - I pretty much outfitted it just like shown on the box - Obi-Wan and Cody in the cockpit, R4-P17 in the droid socket and two of Cody's troops maning the guns at the back.

I really hope they make this vehicle more easily available, I wouldn't mind scoring one more to open and put Anakin, Ahsoka, R2, Rex and a 501st Trooper in.

I've now seen this a few times at different WM stores...  I'm kind of surprised since WM wasn't low on mid-size vehicles but I guess they were just due some new ones.

Yeah, I opened my spare over the weekend and put it through some rigorous kid-testing. My girls loved it, especially firing the missiles over and over at my poor Aqua Droid. I don't have any astromechs handy, but that slot makes a nice seat for Yoda.

My only complaint is that the pop-up gun panels come off a bit too easily, but that's a minor issue. It's a cool, fun vehicle and very convenient for displaying loose figs.

Wonder if/when we will see something else in this midsize assortment?

Picked this up at TRU yesterday. Can't believe how long it took. I had almost forgotten about it. Hopefully it means it is hitting again if others are still looking.

This was my last "happy" SW purchase.  Only seen it once out in the wild.

I think they are back up on TRU.com, or were the other day.  Nick snagged one just the other day at Bloomington TRU, so they're starting to show again.  When are you coming up for another meeting?  Maybe we can snag one locally if you still want it.

Got the last one of EE right now...so I'm set.  I sort of forget about this one, good to have it off the list!

I've seen this a surprising ammount at WM...  Just saw one last weekend locally.  Seeing the droid gunship more and more too now.

Looks like TRU reset their offerings at some point today.  I saw it on there and available as of last night, but not seeing it now.  They do have a bunch of new stuff stuff added since then as well including the Defend Kamino BP (and others), Deluxe Geonosian with Speeder (and others, but no Rebel Sled), the new Lego sets, the New Y-Wing, and the Delta Squad BP (No TFU set though  :( ).

Here's the link to the JTS on Kmart.  A little pricey, but you can ship to a local store to cut out the shipping.  They also have a free shipping deal for $50 orders on the front page.

This was a ship I honestly had no interest in, till I was able to get it just recently in the great blow-out of Vehicle Value 2-Packs between Ollie's and K-Mart in 2014.  Wow, how long a gap this stuff was out there in limbo, eh?

Anyway, I got the Jedi Speeder set...  Really used to think this thing was bunk.  Too small, just meh.  Compared to the toon, it is too small it seems.  But as designs go, for a simple "speeder" (IE: nothing combat about it), it's pretty neat...  Lots of little detail in the cockpit and down underneath it too, which surprised me.  Taking all the fighting elements out of it, it makes an ok simple little "company car" for the Jedi actually.  Which is what I'm treating it as.  I could see easily painting one up as a random Coruscant speeder zipping around in traffic too.  For that role, it's quite nice.

The gun turret thing in the back is really silly, but easily left closed just like the cockpits on the droid vehicles.

The Ollie's/KM blowout has been a good way for me to appreciate vehicles I passed on when released.
