Starting up some threads, carrying over info from Jayson's wonderful Master List (https://yakfaceforums.com/main/2021/01/27/2021-master-upc-dpci-sku-list-update/).

Any word on pre order date/time?

Any word on pre order date/time?
Nope. Not sure if this is part of Hasbro's new strategy to hold off on TVC pre-orders right away (like those Walmart TVC figs) or if they just forgot to say...
-
Banthaskull has a whole gallery of images of the various poses that are possible with IG-11. That figure looks amazing! I didn't think it would be possible to improve on the VTSC IG-88, but Hasbro stepped up and the figure looks awesome.
Lando looks much improved, too. Glad to see that the cape looks removable, too.
-
These look amazing!
-
Nice! We've needed a new Lando for a while and that IG-11 looks amazing!
-
These make me happy, both look really well done. So glad to see an update on this version of Lando, long overdue. Always nice to see more Mando figures. Such a slow drip with TVC, but they pretty much always look great when they do come out.
-
These look great. I just don’t need another Lando, and I wish they were announcing about 4x as much TVC product.

Has you Lando not "Greened?"
But, yes, absolutely more product!

Are they turning green? Honestly I don’t have any idea. He’s on the shelf with about half a dozen Landos and 4000 other figures.

The chest turns green just like the VOTC stormtroopers turn yellow. :'(

Yeah, it's pretty terrible.

TVC Teebo revealed during today's livestream... no pre-order today though. Will go up for pre-order at some point in the future (along with IG-11, Lando and others).

Snip from the live-stream...

So what's up with this wave? The reveals from Tuesday were great. But the announcement of what EE is referring to as Wave 8 seems to have skipped over this wave. And Kuiil has been slotted in that next wave, too.
I would have expected this wave to have been fully revealed and put up for pre-order before the Bo-Katan wave. And the second ROTJ figure has been mysteriously held back. Is that what's going to get revealed in the Livestream that's a few weeks away?
-
So what's up with this wave?
Yeah, so weird that they pre-ordered the wave after this one before even fully revealing this wave. They did the same thing last summer too though when they pre-ordered figures out of order.
Not sure what the hold up is for revealing the rumored Palpatine and putting this wave up for pre-order. Maybe they've axed/delayed Palpatine or something that delayed things?
-
Is there just one figure left to reveal in this wave?
-
Is there just one figure left to reveal in this wave?
According to Jayson's original intel yes, just ROTJ Palpatine left to reveal.
5010993866311/656058393 VC??? “Antarctica” – Lando Calrissian
5010993866328/319011512 VC??? “Huron” – IG-11
5010993866335/448164952 VC??? “Erie” – The Emperor
5010993866342/520021131 VC??? “Ontario” – Teebo
-
When is this wave expected to release? Sometime in the fall correct?
-
So the Palpatine is ROTJ? Would have been nice to do a Rise of Skywalker version instead.
-
So the Palpatine is ROTJ? Would have been nice to do a Rise of Skywalker version instead.
Which would you prefer? Sith Eternal or decrepit stuck to a giant mechanical arm version? I think the latter would have to be a deluxe figure and Hasbro hasn't dome something like that in a while.
-

Blame the "finish the 96" initiative for getting us ROTJ Palps instead of TROS Palps. :P

Both. 100% would buy both.
-
Palpatine is such a critical character in the entire saga - the arch villain behind EVERYTHING! And it does seem like his character hasn't gotten the consideration he deserves in The Vintage Collection. I think you could pick any of these three versions of Palpatine and collectors would be happy to get them:
-Chancellor Palpatine - ROTS Office duel
-Emporer Palpatine - ROTJ
-Palpatine clone - rejuvenated Sith Eternal - TROS
...but then they would also be asking about the version that they want the most!
I actually REALLY like the 5 POA version of Palpatine that came out in the TLJ packaging. The likeness was excellent, and the texture on the robes was great. But articulation? It wasn't anywhere near TVC standards. And I'm wondering how Hasbro might pull that off if there really is a TVC Emporer from ROTJ in the works.
I get Hasbro addressing the ROTJ version first. The online fanbase for The Vintage Collection has gotten so vocal about finishing the original 96 that I think they need to give that a fair amount of attention. But after that, I'm with you Rob - The Rise Of Skywalker really got the short end of the stick with figures. All of the Hasbro TVC offerings for TROS were in danger of being outnumbered by the number of TROS droids that were in that Disney Parks 4-pack!
-

I do! I also secretly worry that the fact that Hasbro is rushing to finish the original 96 is an indication that the line is in trouble. Maybe it just means moving away from TVC soon…
-

I can see that. Complete the 96 then shift to packaging with less plastic as part of their goal to reduce overall use.
-

That might not be the worst idea imaginable.
The Vintage Collection is an expensive line to produce. And prices have been creeping up. The current TVC figures feature as many as 16 to 18 joints. That makes the manufacturing process that much more expensive.
I like the current paint apps on TVC and Black Series figures. But if we went back to character appropriate articulation, where the most articulated figures might have 8 - 11 POA, and less action oriented characters are on the lower end of that scale - that might mean a return to a higher volume of figures being able to ship to retail.
I wonder if the kind of packaging being used for the low end 5.5" figures could be something like what we could see for the 3.75" figures moving forward? It would definitely be a big departure from the current TVC line look if Hasbro is truly looking at reducing their use of plastic in packaging.
-

I see at is a double-edged sword where they could kill 3.75" entirely once they get the 96 done, or they could finally get the freedom to do something different.
I'm a little worried with the current crew that even if they had the ability to do something different with 3.75" they wouldn't do anything creative or sensible. They'd probably just dig out some 15 year old 5POA molds and repaint them.
I would love it if they were given the license to choose different POA per figure to make the line more cost effective and allow them to do more new characters. I just want new characters/figures with great paint apps and don't really care if its anywhere 5+ POA.
A repainted Emperor does nothing for me so I'll pass, but I'm also not trying to collect the 96 figures carded.
-
Honestly, I don't care what package they use. They could sell me an excellent SW action figure in a dirty diaper and I'd buy it. I'm even down with reducing articulation for figures that don't need it. Like Max Rebo will never need to do the Iron Man pose. But I definitely want them to continue the line, and I really do think main characters like Luke Skywalker should be able to get into dynamic poses.
But overall I feel like the clearance crowd on vehicles is a nail in the coffin.
-
That's where I'm at too. I open them, so packaging means nothing. I don't play with them, so articulation doesn't mean much to me either. For me, something in the middle that's reasonably priced and lets them start actually putting out more product would be just fine - as long as the sculpting looks good and they're not total statues to the point where they stop being action figures.
-
But overall I feel like the clearance crowd on vehicles is a nail in the coffin.
I took to calling them Clearance Vultures. It seems like an apt description for these circling scavengers.
Regarding the packaging? Last night I saw the boxes for the Marvel Retro 3.75” figure 2 packs for the first time. And it’s all cardboard! The presentation and the artwork were good, and it didn’t even occur to me until today that there was zero plastic in the packaging.
-
I always find it ironic that the people that sit around waiting for vehicles to go on clearance then bitch when they miss out on them because other people bought them all.
-

Or complain that the clearance price isn't low enough. And then kind of demand other collectors check their local stores to help them get the vehicles at the lowest clearance price possible. Then complain even more. I ******* hate collectors sometimes.
-

It serves them right!
-
It’s got to be mostly kids and people on really tight budgets right?
Right?
-
I'm definitely interested here indeed in that Lando Figure
-
I wish they would just announce the Emperor as the the last figure in this wave and let us pre-order already. What are they waiting for?
-
I think they're probably delaying the announcement until they open up orders for the Throne Room exclusive.
-
They have to know we're going to buy both! ;D
-
Livestream confirms that this wave will be going up for pre-order tomorrow at 1pm ET at most major retailers.
- ESB Lando
- IG-11
- Emperor Palpatine
- Teebo
-
Solid wave. I might be in for a case.
-
I like the changes to Palpatine that distinguish this release from the Hasbro Pulse Con version. And the cardback looks great.
I'm definitely ordering a case. But the assortments matter. It would be nice to see those with some level of advance notice.

What's new, repainted, and repacked in this wave?
-
- ESB Lando = all new
- IG-11 = all new
- Teebo = repack/repaint of Teebo from Ewok multi-pack
- VC200 Emperor Palpatine = photoreal repaint with new head**
**Note that the VC200 basic figure Palpatine has a different head from the TVC Throne Room set pack-in version.

Yep. Put me down for a case. ;D
-
Did they say only Emperor will be single release pre order tomorrow otherwise you have to pre order a full case?
-
The Emperor is identical to the Throne set yeah?
-
No, he has a different "angry" face.
-
It sounds like a joke… but it not. ::)
-
No, he has a different "angry" face.
I had mixed feelings about the basic having a different head. I was hoping to save $13 and skip the basic, but I kinda like the "angry face" version too.
-
I’m tingly in my toy nether regions.
Def getting a case and hoping IG11 is multiple in it.
-
I placed my order with EE. Here's how the case pack is advertised:
3x SW VIN ANTARCTICA - Lando
2x SW VIN HURON - IG-11
2x SW VIN ERIE - Emporer Palpatine
1x SW VIN ONTARIO - Teebo
I ordered the case plus an additional Teebo, as well as individual Bib Fortuna and Lobot figures (those are both 1 per case).

Emperor Palpatine has me interested too.

It appears Target still hasn't set these up for pre-order.
-
I've got to say that I'm pleasantly surprised to see these figures are already making it to the pegs. Lots of store reports from the West Coast about these turning up. And it seems like people are all about getting the Emporer - he seems to be one of the first figures to sell out from the wave. I'm starting to think that maybe the Emporer should have been 3 per case instead of Lando.
-
This wave has hit the Midwest, I just found the 3 Landos from the case at my local Walmart in Streamwood IL. I was told I just missed the rest of the case, d’oh! But at least I found something new for a change.

Nick, I've got to ask—because I've been talking about Star Wars figures with you for like 20 years or more at this point—why do you spell it "Emporer" instead of "Emperor?" I feel like I've been seeing it that way for so many years at this point, that I can't remember if I asked you about it before. Is there an inside joke I'm forgetting?
-
Seriously? I'm usually pretty attentive to spelling. I can't believe that one slipped by! I'm usually the one person who is incensed by seeing people write "Rouge One".

I imagine "rouge one" could apply to all of Carrie Fisher's makeup in the OT! ;D

It looks like EE is now processing orders for the wave with the EMPEROR. My card got charged and I saw a change in the status of my order for this case from EE. Now let’s see how long shipping will take.

There ya go!
And I didn't mean to call you out or anything, I just know I'd seen it, but couldn't remember if there was a joke behind it. We've been doing this a long time!
-
My case with the EMPEROR, Lando, IG-11 and Teebo arrived yesterday. As I was taking the case out of EE’s shipping box I noticed a label - an air freight destination tag! Evidently Hasbro has taken to flying these figures from Hong Kong to LAX for distribution in the United States.

In Chicago we have these half-sized Targets that are more like a huge Walgreens... they only have half of an aisle for toys, but it's the only place in walking distance to my house that carries the stuff. I pop in from time to time and maybe four times total I’ve seen figures. They had the whole wave there today at lunch. I bought them all and canceled my Amazon order. I can't remember the last time I found a whole wave of stuff in stores before it shipped to me.
-
That’s great Rob! I have this wave sitting in my desk to be reviewed. They came in the day before we left on vacation. From what I was able to look at, they all look great!
-
Yeah they definitely all look great. Palpatine is probably the highlight of the wave for me, but also IG-11 is the most exciting bit being as it’s a new figure that we didn’t have, even if he looks jus like IG-88.
-
I got Lando and IG-11 from Dorkside. Man, these figures are freaking excellent.
-
After getting a good look at the IG-11 figure, I want a new IG-88!
-
You’d think that’s coming… cutting off the bandolier and repainting him would probably get them very close. Are there any other real differences?
-

I think the proportions are a little different on the arms. IG-88 has very short forearms (which make him look pretty eerie), where IG-11's are longer with a shorter upper arm. Here's a good http://side-by-side comparison shot (https://www.banthaskull.com/images/VC_2021_Photo_Gallery/vc206_ig-11_19.jpg).
Vintage Collection IG-88 is still one of my favorite figures, even with his wider stance, but a rework to upgrade him a bit would just blow my ******* mind.
-
My Amazon orders for Lando, IG-11, and Teebo all updated from February 3rd delivery dates to mid-November delivery dates. I guess I can finally stop looking for them at Target in vain. Hope my Palpatine pre-order joins them soon.

Mine too.
I saw that the 4-pack of Bad Batch Clone Troopers are starting to hit as well. I hope they put this back up for order as I missed it the first time around.

All are great figures, glad I picked up a case of these from EE!

Got my shipping notices for all four figures last night - Lando, IG-11, and Teebo should be here today, VC200 Palpatine tomorrow!

I found two Landos from this wave on the pegs at my local mini-Target the other day, both with crushed bubbles and creased cards. But it was the first time I had even seen a single VTC figure on the pegs at a Target in about 1.5 years (since all the Snokes and Jyn Erso's finally disappeared), so it was pretty exciting.

Sure why not. I'll take another.

Tempting, but since he's a unique character I think just one will probably do for me.

I agree, it is easily the best Lando to date and really is just perfect. I currently have 3. One carded for my min Lando focus, and two loose. I was planning on using my extra loose one to do some custom head swaps with other Landos figures (specifically the VTC General Lando that now looks nothing like Billy D in comparison.) I might even get 1-2 more eventually for some other swaps / customs or additional diorama displays.
Within the last month, most of the stores around me seem to have gotten this wave in. However the ONLY figure I have seen from it has been Lando. Each store I've been to has had 2-3 Landos sitting on the pegs for the last month. 90% of the bubbles and cards have been absolutely crushed, which probably doesn't help them sell.
Given that we have had empty pegs for so long it is hard to imagine... but is this Lando destined to become a peg warmer?! It's early still and it is hard to imagine given how great the figure is, and the fact that he is a major character, but I feel like we might be seeing a lot of Lando for awhile. That x3 per case ratio is just a killer.

It's been insane. I found the whole IG-11 wave, and have bought pairs of Jawas 2 or 3 different times. I don't know how to handle it.

Oh yeah sure you did. Probably out shopping with Santa and the Easter Bunny, right?
-
I bought another Offworld Jawa tonight at the little Target by my house. :)
-
My four Wave 6 figures from Hasbro Pulse showed up today. For some reason the figures were spread across three different boxes, and two figures had rather dinged up cards. All the boxes came from the PCA Pulse Atlanta warehouse.
I just don't get why they don't just pack it into one box... or why that is apparently so hard. ::)

A lot of us have wondered this and I do hope it comes up on a Q&A Hasbro holds with fan sites every now and then. It just seems so wasteful.
After seeing an episode of -- I believe -- UnderCover Boss, where one of the sites was of a warehouse fulfillment center, I do think it comes down to efficiency. Product can be housed at different areas of a warehouse and different buildings. The cost of the time to consolidate items and ship them in one package likely exceeds their discounted shipping rates. Automation requires a lot of expensive machinery and software. Even with a corp as sophisticated as Amazon, I've received split orders days apart from the same location.

I get that its more "efficient" for a company to mail out these things individually, but is it more responsible? If I order ten times a year with an average of 5 items per order, I expect to be getting a package about every month. Ten cardboard boxes and some packing material, ten trips for the post office. Instead, I'm getting 50 different packages, about one per week. That's 50 boxes of cardboard laying around instead of 10 and 50 visits from the delivery guy instead of 10. How is that good for the post office or the seller or me or anyone? What a waste.
Its funny, I used to want companies to divide things up so I didn't have to wait so long for preorders or backordered stuff. Now, I feel happy about grouping shipments together. I just placed an order from BBTS using their pile of loot, so they'll hold onto my 2 instock items and send them with the 2 preorder items when they arrive in a few months.

I like the option to bundle up items, even though I understand etailers shipping things out as they come in, it can be horribly inefficient.
As far as fan site Q&A's go, I like them and dislike them at the same time. We do get some questions answered, but none of the ones I've seen will ask tough questions because they won't be invited back.
I'd be willing to go out in a blaze of glory if my youtube channel was big enough! ;D

I just placed an order from BBTS using their pile of loot, so they'll hold onto my 2 instock items and send them with the 2 preorder items when they arrive in a few months.
I hear ya. But we all know responsible gets pushed aside for self-interest in the corp world, or is slow-going when they do cross paths. I do give Hasbro credit for their 12-yr path to less wasteful packaging.
I did similar to you with my BBTS order. And after staring at a stack of 12 collapsed boxes that arrived in a 3 week span, mostly for toy purchases, i had to push the laptop away for a few 'limited deals' on amazon knowing that they'd be arriving separately even if i requested they ship on my prime delivery day.
