Eh, they're ok. But I have more than enough from previous releases. I'll probably play the waiting game on this set, and if I pick any up it will only be 1-2 sets max.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2023 TVC Wave 4 (New TVC Wave 30)

Overall for the wave, meh. Like others have said already -- given the combination of knowing these figures were in the pipeline & the fact that these are all either repacks, retools, or updates to figures we've gotten recently -- it's hard for me to get too excited for any of these. While I'll be glad to have the updates I really wish these slots could have gone to unmade characters or figures in desperate need of an update.

I missed the Weequay the first time around and never wanted to pay secondary market prices for one, so I'm happy to get him. Do we know if he will reuse the VC107 numbering slot, or are they renumbering him?

Han looks pretty good to me, even the headsculpt. He's not perfect but this feels like an improvement. The body looks to be a drastic improvement and a complete redo of the tired, skinny version that we've been getting since 2004. I wish they would have included his trench coat. Overall though, this wouldn't have been that high up on my wishlist, especially since we just had the photoreal version of VC62 1.5 years ago...

Vader, while just another version of the Vader we got in 2022... The figure looks great.

I'm going to assume this is a joke of a listing... but I got a kick out of it. Supposedly the seller has a lot of 100 POTF2 Boba Fetts with a BIN of $1,800.00:

My wife and I tried it. She loved the Willow movie as a kid, I didn't see it until my early 20s but still really liked the movie. So we were both pretty excited about the show. We only made it through one episode and it has been about almost two months since we last watched it...

The show felt very generic, unfortunately like much of the big studio fantasy stuff lately. It really didn't seem to capture much of the *ahem* magic of the original movie. We thought about trying to get through it anyways, but after seeing reviews and general reactions we probably won't go back to it.

We'll just happily rewatch White Lotus instead.

Even then, I still had a hard time narrowing it down to twenty.

Considering your list has like 29+ figures on it, you kinda failed at narrowing it down. :P

Lists like these just make me long for the 'old days'.  With the current version of Hasbro Star Wars team, the current retail environment, and the current economy, it'll take 2-3 years for Hasbro to get to half of these figures, if they even get that far. There is just too much Star Wars to draw from and not enough space in a line where 50% of the figures are repacks/repaints.  :-\

I did my best. Gold star for me. :P

I definitely agree with you on your latter point. I've been cataloging my collection lately and have been going back through the TAC & TLC lines. It is crazy just how much MORE new product there was back in those days, and how much variety there was. I miss the days when it felt like the Hasbro team running the line was really passionate about it. It's sad to see how much less traction the 3.75" line & even the Star Wars brand as a whole has at retail these days. It unfortunate that that is very unlikely to change any time soon.

Man, this round was tough. Recency bias is strong here, and this may be a controversial move, but I've decided to go with a solid Andor only list. Even then, I still had a hard time narrowing it down to twenty.

I listed my preferred costumes, but I'm fine combining the votes with other versions of the same character. In some cases, there are multiple figures that can easily be made from the same base buck, I have listed those sub-choices in order of preference. Here are my twenty, in no particular order:

  • Luthen Rael - Ferrix
  • Syril Karn - Pre-Mor Deputy Inspector
  • Bix Caleen
  • Sergeant Linus Mosk - Ferrix Raid
  • Dedra Meero - Ferrix
  • Mon Mothma - (Any outfit)
  • Narkina 5 Prisoner -- Ranked in order of preference in the event of a tie: a) Kino Loy, b) Ruescott Melshi, c) Cassian Andor, d) Ulaf, e) Jemboc, f) Xaul, g) Ham, h) Taga, h) first prisoner to climb the lift, i) Rhasiv (medic) -- Single figures or a multi-pack of all of them
  • Cinta Kaz - Aldhani
  • Taramyn Barcona - Aldhani Camp
  • Karis Nemik - Aldhani Camp
  • Arvel Skeen - Aldhani Camp
  • Lt. Gorn - Aldhani
  • Major Partagaz
  • Imperial Army Troopers - (Aldani)
  • Vetch
  • Imperial Riot Troopers -  (Ferrix)
  • Brasso - Grappler
  • Brasso - Rix Road Funeral Procession w/ Marva Brick
  • Maarva Andor
  • Rix Road Band Member-- Any of the band members is fine

Oh no! I debated with myself too long and forgot to vote. Results are luckily for me pretty close to what my list would have been. Really can’t go wrong with figures from these movies.

I think if there are any lessons to be learned from this situation and Dorkside Toys folding?  Don't use a debit card, PayPal or gift cards with these businesses.  Use a credit card from a company that protects their customers.  Those bits of advice could have prevented a lot of misery for many of the people who got stiffed when these companies went down.

This is my advice for every transaction everywhere.

Not only do I get like $1200 a year in cash back, but despite having my card number stolen several times, I've never been out a nickel of my own money and have never spent a second worrying that some day I might be.  I don't even carry a debit card with me and I never buy anything online with Paypal now that eBay has ditched them.

As someone who has worked in the credit card processing industry for the last six years, I wholeheartedly cosign.

I have yet to get emails, but my tracking is now 2 days late. Mine were supposed to arrive yesterday and were apparently on the delivery truck but keep getting delayed. (We did get 10" of snow in Denver starting Wednesday evening though.)

Hunter and Piett both look pretty good in that image, especially Hunter. Piett's hat looks a little odd like it might be removable. Has Hasbro told us if Starkiller is purely a repack? I wouldn't mind if he got the Shae Visla treatment and they gave him an all-new headsculpt that actually looks like Sam Witwer.

I do like the look of these, but I hate the concept and the very transparent money-making gimmick behind the marketing. I am going to pass on these pre-orders, just like the newest clone repaint. I'll likely only grab these if they end up on clearance in the future.

I think the thing that makes the last few of these especially annoying is that unlike other older exclusive gimmick releases, such as the Carbonized variants, these Fetts & his ilk all exist in the mainline TVC numbering scheme. I couldn't imagine being a full completionist these days, but it was at least somewhat possible to be a completionist with the main TVC numbered cards without needing to buy all of the super gimmicky figures. Clearly, that won't be true going forward.

222
Wow, only a month after the last two? I am skipping the preorder here. This one might just be the breaking point for me on these repaints. I may pick this up if I ever see it in person or if it is available elsewhere, but these kinds of repaints are definitely making collecting less fun.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2023 TVC Endor Bunker Playset
« on: December 7, 2022, 04:36 AM »
Very nice. $60 is a bit pricey but overall I think it looks like it is worth it based on current pricing. All the new detailing looks pretty great. I would agree that I wish the greenery was removable though.

I'm down for one to start. When this eventually hits sale prices as all the other playsets seemed to, I may even grab another 1-2 sets.

I only have 1-2 of this version and do like it, for the most part, but a $90 reissue (200% the original price) is far too rich for my blood. Maybe I'll change my mind down the road, but this is a pretty easy pass for now.

Got a delivery update from Amazon that says this is shipping next week.

Will be glad to get some more Obi-Wan figures, but still puzzled as to why they thought it was a good idea to put that army-builder Purge Trooper in there.

Agree, but we know it won't be a one-and-done. It will 100% get rereleased at some point soon. I'm still just sticking with my two sets for now and will wait to pick up any more duplicates.
