I'm starting to realise that a UK/Euro MOC collection can't be done on the cheap.

But at least I've got another of the expensive ones out the way  ;)

A German 45 Yoda

Episode 1 / Spanish CT chips
« on: August 20, 2006, 06:04 PM »
Hi guys,

What market was this made for?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=001&item=110020300826&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

The card looks pretty much the same as the Canadian version but bottom left, where it tells you the language of the chip there is only one line (in Spanish). All the Canadian cards I have seen have 3 lines in 3 different languages.

So are these cards made for the Spanish market (or perhaps even South America)? I got Nute, Yoda, Destroyer Droid and Watto as cool card variations for my E1 collection but it would be great if anyone knows a little more about them.

I passed on a CT2 chewbacca for £50 once because I thought it was just an early release  ::)

Also you can see the multi-languge Freeze Frame text.

The Death Star Droid has "slight damage to the buble". Sounds painful  :P

For me it's only Doctor Who that I collect on DVD so I display them in story order from 1963 right up to last week's Cybermen story.   I have the 40 or so discs that the BBC have released, along with off-air recordings of the remaining 100-ish.  The are several which no longer exist so I have the fan recons of those.  DVD+Rs and photo paper for the covers do the job very nicely.

As regards HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, well the good Doctor (from the 63-89 series) will never make that leap as the standard requires 16:9.

I only got a DTS system at Christmas, along with a LCD tv.  The Nazgul flying around the room scared the **** out of me - but only in a good way  ;)

I totally failed to watch them all in a row and only skipped to the bits I thought would look or sound good.  While I was doing that I discovered that the Midgewater Marshes (?) section in FOTR was amazing in DTS with all the bugs buzzing around.  Makes me wonder what other cool stuff I've missed  :-[.

Very nice buys, Carl  :) I assume the Leia is German? Mine's a German GM too. A Pal-45B would be too much to hope for  ;D

I got the wrong Bristol  :-[

Rob, re-add yourself (with the correct Bristol), and I'll delete the Tennessee entry.

Done. Cheers, mate  :)

Rob,

Congrats on the pickup, I have that very same carded Vader. My own vintage carded piece, definitely a keeper.

Cheers!
Jason

Just like UK prices, nice.  It's pretty much what I paid online including postage...retail is about $40 here  :(

3 More German General Mills figures in my collection.  There are a few items that I'll never find on UK Palitoy cards for a cheap enough price, so I'm happy with the German issues. They were still made by Palitoy in their factory in the UK so it's not totally cheating.
