I hope we get to see a few more here soon, they do look nice.

Is the scale specified on these? Are they definitely 3.75"?
Damn, Hasbro has some great stuff lined up for this year. :o
Damn, Hasbro has some great stuff lined up for this year. :o
Too bad the same can't be said for the Transformers line. :-\ That's not Hasbro's fault though, I blame that on Michael Bay.
Pictures are Snake Eyes (v1)
So there's going to be more than one version of Snakey?
Why did I have to see these? My Joe collecting playing days ended about 20 years ago, but these look too good to pass up. Must resist.
I figure Neal won't mind me posting them here.
Now if they would just re-release or re-do the DVD season sets now too - since I missed them the first time and they're pretty pricey/difficult to track down now.

I wouldn't mind seeing a battlepack of just the original core Dreadnocks. I think the only one that has a chance of being made is Zartan if they're only going up to 25 figures. I remember Road Pig, Slasher, Zarrana - and her brother, and I think there was some other dude - Crystal Ball?
I'd really like to complete that set even though Sony is re-releasing them this summer - different packaging to be sure and I'm a stickler about those sorts of things.

Thankful now for my senior's discount. I have zero interest in these because the dinky little things aren't real GI Joe's anyway. Where's the lifelike hair? Where's the string you pull to get them to talk? Where's the Kung Fu grip? Bah.
Where have you heard this? I'd love to get these, especially 'since Rhino's versions are so expensive on the secondary market. Are they rereleasing GI Joe: The Movie on DVD too?
First off bite your tongue for even thinking Crystal Ball was a dreadnok!! No, no.....no, no,...no, no, no!! ;D There's also never been a Dreadnok named Slasher, probably thinking of Thrasher!
Zartan ('84)

Various Transformer websites - Tformers.com and TFans.com message boards. They're supposed to be released to coincide with the release of the movie if not before then. I don't have a direct source to link to at the moment as the "rumor" was ongoing a few months back. I'll post in the Transformer thread when something new pops up.
Scored the Cobra Viper Pit 6-pack at TRU yesterday. :)
Did it say what the MSRP was??
Look for our pics here sometime this week, but we are getting the Star Wars stuff up first.
They need to reissue the WHALE. :) Well, they don't NEED to, but it would sure be great.
I do remember that little submarine/ship thing did get re-released though, but I guess I forgot what it was called.
$50 doesn't sound too bad. I went scouring Ebay the other day looking at vehicles and its OHH so tempting to start placing bids on stuff. Especially on the Raven - never had that thing as a kid and it still looks so purty... I always loved the vehicles almost moreso than the figures themselves.
I so DON'T want to get back into this stuff but temptation seems to be getting the better of me. :-\
I'm even giving serious thought to dumping my entire Star Wars collection. :-X

Hi-res pics of carded figures and 5-packs. (http://cooltoyreview.com/story/front/New_GI_Joe_In_HiRez_105313.asp)
Oh man, if those boxes play music like they say they do, I think I'm in for two complete sets. :)

HOLY CRAP! Those box sets are FANTASTIC! :o
I noticed that the card of the 2nd version of Storm Shadow lacks the "Cobra Enemy!" part, since when Storm Shadow appeared in that outfit, he was on the Joe side. Nice touch, Hasbro. :)
That ad looks fantasssssssssssstic!! ;D
Question for all of you who are diving back into this whole GI Joe thing....Are any of you planning on army building with the Cobra Troopers?? I've grabbed 2 of every clone/trooper but I might bend the rule and pick up a few extras of these guys.
Also....Are any of you in fear of going backwards to start all over on a new line of toys with the vintage stuff? I know I've been tempted ever since I saw the first image of the new StormShadow..
It looks like the second one from the left on the third row is holding a bow, doesn't it?
EDIT: I was just reading on the TNI forums that the 2nd figure on the third row matches a "Red Cobra -Codename: Satan" figure that was from Brazil I believe. It is essentially a Storm Shadow repaint. I'm not familiar with that, but maybe Ben or others can shed some light on this.
Thanks for posting that stuff guys, this line keeps looking better and better. First I thought I'd just get the two five packs, then I preordered the first "set of 5" as well, and now seeing what the future holds - I think I might be all in on this line before too long. This is like the VOTC was for me, really brings back those nostalgic memories. I think Hasbro might have a hit on their hands with this line. Good eye on the team members guys. It looks like the second one from the left on the third row is holding a bow, doesn't it? I had heard rumors that the Cobra trooper would be single carded too, which is a good idea. I'm glad I'm not the only one that might be falling into this line, I don't feel quite as bad now :P.

I just read on the TNI forums that it sounds like the next wave of 5 single packs will be the following:
Lady Jaye
Beachhead
Buzzer
Cobra Trooper
Serpentor
We had those guessed from the cardback, but it does sound like this is the next wave after the two 5 packs and wave 1 of the single packs.
I just loaded up my cart with HISS, R.O.C.C., Night Ops Humvee, and R.H.I.N.O. and it's only $46.70 shipped before any savings codes. Gah. I can't buy that even though it's a helluva price, it would all just go into a box like most of my SW items anyway.
I am thinking about getting in on the 25th Anniversary figures this summer, and starting by purchasing some older items. I am thinking about Night Ops Humvee, Scrap Iron, 5 Range Vipers, and Barrel Roll, all for $23 shipped from HTS.com. Can anyone offer their opinions on these figures, or suggest some other items on HTS.com that are worth purchasing? Thanks!

Reviews of Destro (http://www.yojoe.com/faq/25destro.shtml) and the Baroness (http://www.yojoe.com/faq/25baroness.shtml) are up now at YoJoe.
I'm just not really sure if the vintage stuff holds water like SW stuff - not monetary wise, but memory wise.
I'm just not really sure if the vintage stuff holds water like SW stuff - not monetary wise, but memory wise.
I found the Anniversary 5 packs at TRU today. Passed on both sets, they're cool, just not $30 each worth of cool. Loved the Storm Shadow though.
So these are hitting stores now right? Can't wait to pick up Snake Eyes w/ Timber, and maybe Storm Shadow. Should we expect pics of single carded Wave 2 at SDCC?
I grabbed the Cobra 5-pack tonight at TRU. The Joe pack was already gone. Is it wrong that I press the button to listen to the song about every 5 minutes? I wonder what the over/under is on how long it will take my wife to kill me .....
Those pics look great, but really ... how many pics of Lady Jaye did they need to take?
After seein gthis coverage I am so stoked... more than I am for any Star wars product of its kind.
After seein gthis coverage I am so stoked... more than I am for any Star wars product of its kind.
I didn't want to be the first to say it, but I kind of agree.
Unless they do some better OT Army Builders (REBELS), then I can see 25th Joe stuff dominating my budget for a while.
Pics of Firefly, Red Ninja, and the painted Shipwreck are up on that link above on page 4.How is their shipping ? :-\
I received the first wave of single packs today from smalljoes.com. I'm really going to like this line. :)
What about shipping cost ?
Was almost tempted to bring it back to work in the cube to embarrass myself over and over again, but decided against it. :D
Mike, hopefully you can get your new figures to work in the vehicles.
Unfortunately, the hip articulation makes it hard for the 25th Ann. figures to sit and fit correctly in the 1982-2006 3 3/4" vehicles. Also, the foot holes on the new 25th figures are different than the 1982-2006 figures so the pegs on the vehicles aren't correct.
The other thing that caught my attention is that there's a variant on the wolf. I've seen no mention of this or photos on the various web sites and I'm even in the Joe club and didn't hear about this. Two of the Snake figs had the grey wolf we've all see photos of but the other one had a black wolf with white belly. Now, I'm wondering if there's a third variant with the grey/black wolf like there were 3 versions of the 8" Sigma 6 wolf.
So, what color wolves have you guys found so far and what stores did you get them at?
Has anybody seent the WalMart exclusive Adventure Team guys at retail yet?
I'm not as heavily into the Joes as I am SW but I've gotten the impression over the last couple of years that maybe Snake Eyes and Stormshadow aren't as popular as they once were. Or, at least, that people are tired of seeing them on the shelves.
ManI have yet to see any at retail. :'(

Do you have a Target near by? If so, and they reset their toy ailse, be on the lookout. My Target finished the action figure set either Wednesday or Thursday and by Saturday they had the 25th Joe figures stocked. They had one case of the singles and one or two cases of the 5-packs. Not sure how they ship in a case but there were at least 2 of each (Joe and Cobra).
E...
I guess there is some speculation that the playing cards (http://www.yojoe.com/archive/games/sdcc07cards/) given out at ComicCon might be clues as to what figures could be on the way in the 25th line. There is a number of variant/repaints, such as "Shipwreck with white shirt" which we saw both versions of in toy form at CC. Anyways, just thought I'd pass it along - food for thought. You can see all of the cards at the linky (and larger versions by clicking on each suit).
Hey Brian,
When you found the Joe figures at Wal-Mart do you recall what they were stocked next to? Star Wars, Pirates, Corps figures (or whatever those cheap military figs are)?
Seeing those 25th Anniversary figures on the pegs is pretty cool. I have to admit I'm tempted to pick them up, but have to restrain myself.
WTF is up with these cards ?
Weapons are the worst part of these figures. Some are overall horrible (COBRA rifle), while others look funny and don't make sense(Flint's shotgun, Roadblock's .50 Cal)
I don't like the green plastic that they are molded in.
Yeah, I know. I just wish Hasbro decided to change all weapon colors to black. But, you can't have it all, I guess.
EE (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HJ63306#LargeImage) has pics up of the next 5 pack. We've seen it at Comic Con I believe, but just thought I'd pass it along for those who are interested.
Where is that Black Cobra Commander from? I'll probably pick up the 5 pack just for him...
I guess I got a bum Joe 5pack so I'm going to try and return that for a better pack.
I guess I got a bum Joe 5pack so I'm going to try and return that for a better pack.
I wouldn't say so. I pretty much had the same issues with my Joe 5-pack figures as you did ... and it seems that a lot of others experienced this as well.
I've opened 5 of the Joe packs so far and only 1 of the Gung Ho's have not been loose...the rest seem fine.
All my single carded (including PDD) have been good and tight too.
I'm going to Atlanta for the Joe Con anybody else on the forums here going?
Although I haven't visited Wal-Mart in a little while, it seems as though the 25th Joes are sold out around town right now
Not necessarily toy related, but it sounds like as far as the movie version of G.I. Joe (http://movies.ign.com/articles/815/815454p1.html) is concerned, he will no longer be a "real American hero".
Also, we hit the new Super Target we have in town this weekend and I noticed at this store at least, they were charging $7.99 for the single packed Joes. It must be an abberration, because I've seen them cheaper elsewhere. They did have plenty on the pegs though, but at that price, I'm not surprised.
Hawk is just a repainted Snake Eyes with a new head.
I was thinking about this Hawk (http://cgi.ebay.com/GI-Joe-1986-Hawk-100-Complete-no-FC_W0QQitemZ230166671011QQihZ013QQcategoryZ2467QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) .....Guess I spaced on the first version of him?
Is this even the same guy? (http://cgi.ebay.com/1983-Hawk-Missile-Commander-swivel-arm-GI-JOE-FREE-SHIP_W0QQitemZ270160924858QQihZ017QQcategoryZ2467QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
I would have posted pics, but I can't copy from work.
Same Hawk...
Clayton Abernathy..just a "Re-Sculpt" and Promotion....
Crimson Guard

Snow Job
Flash

Great wave. I'll pick up the Crimson Guard, but It'll definitely be a bitch to find.
Flash was my first Joe, I must buy him now.
Did they do anything with wave 2 to improve the hip articulation on them?
I agree with you that the Beachhead figure looks awesome. I'm definitely getting him but I'll wait till I see the others to decide on them.
E...
Wave 2 does not have fixed hip articulation that I can tell.
I will ask that question at the Joe Con next week.
In fact if there are any items you guys would like asked about or photographed let me know.
I quit in 1987...the year of Big Boa, Croc Master and Raptor.
I picked up Lady Jaye, Serpentor, Buzzer, and the Cobra Trooper today at a local Target. Beachhead was already gone.
Saw the pics over at another site: Doc, Crimson Guard and Snow Job look AMAZING. Heck, even the Hawk from the comic 2-pack looks great and can fit in with the regular line. Super excited about Flash, but they didn't sculpt in the padding details on the red parts of his outfit for some reason. The vehicles look to be vintage molds without any extra weathering unfortunately, but the pack-in drivers are new molds!
I also gathered from the Q&A summary on (I think) HissTank.com that some of the 5-pack figures will be rereleased as carded figures, such as the Cobra Airborne Trooper. Any word on who else might be a part of the possible rereleases? A Gung-Ho with fixed floppy hips, perhaps?
HOLY **** NUGGETS. WOW! :o Blowtorch and that other Dreadnock (Monkey Wrench?? ) look amazing!!
HOLY **** NUGGETS. WOW! :o Blowtorch and that other Dreadnock (Monkey Wrench?? ) look amazing!!
That would be Torch and Ripper.
;)
Where the hell did I get Monkey Wrench from? :-\
sitting in the Q&A right now....
Here's a highlight....
vehicles with drivers...at Target in Spring..Hiss Tank with Cobra Soldier, Shark (called something else) with Grand Slam and AWE...Striker with Crank Case...TRU will have Troop Builders Cobra and Ninja.
Just an FYI that Targets in Minnesota received basic wave 2 figs this weekend.
OK...someone clue me in one the following. There seem to be some HUGE holes in the 25th Line...namely the following:
Zartan
Tomax and Xamot
Major Bludd
Are these being released, rumored etc? The list of Joes is also long but its been a while since I watched/collected etc and I know there are a few that should probably be released (Hawk, Wild Bill, Bazooka) They seem like bigger holes in the line than completing the Dreadnoks
Sadly they would not confirm that Cobra La or Crystal Ball were on the NO list, in fact Crystal Ball may make it into figure form according to rumors.
Hasbro did say they watch the forums (not here sadly) so I'd suggest hitting one of the Joe sites that gets to ask QnA stuff, since those seem to be the sites they visit.
October (but I'd guess November)
Wave 3:
Shipwreck
Stalker
Zartan
Red Ninja
Firefly
Geesh...and I just found w2 last week.
Wow, wave 3. I'll skip the red ninja since he was post-1985
There are two figures on the pegs at Target that weren't there Saturday though; wave 1 Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.
Don't know if those are from a wave 2 case or another wave 1 restock.
E...
Actually, the Red Ninja debuted in the Marvel comic series in 1983, I believe.
According to the toyguide site I've been using, it was introduced as a figure in 1987.
If you're talking about the Adventure Team figures in the coffin boxes they should be $9.96.
E...
Still no wave 2 or 3 near me. This is getting aggrivating...
I've tried to resist this line, but haven't been able to. I'm not being a completist by any means, as I'm opening my Joes up and considering making a photonovel of the Joes attacking Cobra Island (similar to the original Joe comic). I've even considered buying this for my Cobra base and painting it -
(http://www.toycon.com/images/big_38258a.jpg)
When Rob and I were at Toy Fair, I got some time with the Schleicht guys and they were really shocked and pleased that people in our scale would use their stuff. They then gave me a decent tour and one of the head guys followed me around and made sure I got good photos..
I am going to DisneyWorld next week and the Germany Pavillion in Epcot carries all the Schleicht stuff, I may have to snag some Castle Destro Stuff while I am there....
I've been thinking about the future of Joe and going with what WE as Star Wars collectors know, I think Hasbro has a model they want to emulate from their SW line in their Joe as well.
We already have Single Packs and the Comic Packs. We have Vehicles (Hiss/Awe Striker/Sharc) in the "Starfighter" range coming. Even the Legions 5 pack is kind of "Evolutions-esque"
God that Flash....he was my first one ever!
You too? Flash? Hah.
1982... K-Mart on the hill opened up its doors for the first time ever. My rural communities first national retail chain getting a store within a 5 minute drive or so... Mom goes up for the "grand opening", and returns with a Flash for me, and a Flash for my older brother... And thus was born the fondest memory of my childhood.
I would scour K-Mart, Fisher Big Wheel, Gold Circle, G.C. Murphy Co. ("5 & Dime"), and Ben Franklin, and Hills. All these were within a 20 minute drive or so from my house, so some you hit on payday when you went grocery shopping with mom, some you could hit because they were just up on the hill or in the next town over... I can remember EVERY figure I bought and which of those stores I got them at too. Finding Airborne at GC Murphy in Vandergrift with its creeky wood floors, or finding Flint and Snake Eyes V.2 at Gold Circle on a trip to get some tools... Getting Storm Shadow in the mail from my aunt up in Mercer because we couldn't find that one at all on our travels.
Gotta love Star Wars, it's great and all, but my childhood was devoted to G.I. Joe. :)
Reading those filecards really brings back memories :).
Are the filecards the same as the vinty ones besides the verbaige that says everything is fake? I never even bothered to check..
I've even considered buying this for my Cobra base and painting it -
(http://www.toycon.com/images/big_38258a.jpg)
The Toys-R-Us Big Toy Book just came today and they have this castle, listed as $149, on sale for $129. They also have a $10 off a $100 purchase coupon. So you could score one for $119 right now.
E...
I'm caught up except for Firefly, and I want to see if I can get a Cobra vehicle driver without buying the whole pack.
I love Destro, but a repacked Cobra Trooper would be better. Come on Hasbro...
I've got some Flag points left....DoctorPadawan..if you want, you can snag one of my extra Docs. It says you can get 3 more for Flag points, and at last count, I had 200 still...
I think that is the same Snake Eyes as the wave 5 one. Oh well.
I think that is the same Snake Eyes as the wave 5 one. Oh well.
It is. It's being repacked in the Wave 6 case (along with others). I guess it just "slipped" into the pic.
;)
That Battle Armor CC is awesome. Wonder if it'll include the Fred CG head.
What's this Fred stuff all about?? I never got into the comics. :-\
Cobra's agents spread throughout the world, overturning or subverting unstable third-world governments, and becoming an international threat. Eventually, Cobra became so large that Cobra Commander could no longer control it on his own and created a "High Command", which included Zartan, Baroness Anastasia DeCobray, the Scottish arms dealer James McCullen Destro, and Australian mercenary Major Sebastian Bludd. This dubious staffing led to frequent power-struggles within the organization and ultimately the Baroness and Major Bludd enacted a plot to assassinate the Commander.
In a twist of fate, they recruited Billy to carry out the assassination, but he was intercepted by Destro before he could accomplish his task. Cobra Commander had become such a rabid megalomaniac by this point that he had no qualms about torturing his own son, yet Billy refused to surrender any information identifying who had sponsored the hit. Such tenacity impressed Storm Shadow, so he freed Billy and they both escaped to New York, where Storm Shadow trained him in ninjitsu. Billy was later caught in the crossfire between the Soft Master (Storm Shadow's other uncle) and Cobra agent Scrap-Iron, when the car he was driving in exploded.
It was during this time that both Cobra Commander and Destro were trapped underground, presumed dead, and were forced to work together to make their way back to Cobra. Cobra Commander is shown here as an average-looking American with a beatnik image evinced by a pony tail, beret, green-spectacled sunglasses and a slender mustache — a motif that resurfaced on subsequent occasions when he was seen without his mask.
It was during this cross-country trek with Destro that Cobra Commander learned of Billy's fate: though he survived the explosion, he had lost a leg and an eye, and lay in a coma ever since. Unnerved by the tragedy, the Commander took responsibility for Billy's condition, and promised to be a better father. Seeking out the Crimson Guard Fred VII, a mechanical genius who built Billy a new robotic leg, the Commander set up shop in Denver, where Billy eventually awoke from the coma. Fitted with a mechanical prosthetic leg by Fred VII, Billy unwittingly stumbled upon the Blind Master (yet another Arashikage ninja) and Jinx (Storm Shadow's cousin). Seeing that Fred VII had constructed a suit of battle-armor for Cobra Commander, who was once again plotting to take over the world, Billy walked out on his father. The incident left Cobra Commander to reflect on the folly of his ways, but Fred VII was so angered to see his commander throwing away what he had dedicated his life toward that he shot Cobra Commander in the back, apparently killing him.
Unaware that he was being watched, Fred VII buried the body. It was exhumed by another Crimson Guardsman, Fred VIII, who discovered that Cobra Commander was not dead after all, and managed to revive him. With Fred VII masquerading as him in Cobra, the Commander began to form a new organization in secret. When Dr. Mindbender went to Cobra Commander's supposed grave to harvest DNA for the genetic creation of a new leader, he instead discovered the empty grave.
Cobra Commander took that opportunity to return to Cobra, this time even more maniacal than before, filled with rage and unwilling to harbor any traitors (real or perceived). His first act was to imprison those who had betrayed him: Fred VII, his partner Raptor, Firefly, Dr. Mindbender, Zartan, Billy, and numerous Cobra troops, all of whom he had buried alive within a volcano on Cobra Island. He relinquished all traces of morality and humanity, and rebuilt a new command infrastructure by instituting a brainwashing program to compel allegiance from those around him, including repeatedly brainwashing Destro, The Baroness, Zartan, Storm Shadow and Billy.
Does it mention why CC even needed a suit of armor? I seemed to have forgotten what his file card read.
All I see is SE/SS as well, sometimes with a Cobra Commander too.
I only ever see SS V2, and Snake Eyes V2, but not much else... Target that just opened they tend to linger slightly more due to the $8 price, but at WM they're gone instantly. I continually pass, but at some point I will likely buy a SE or something just to check them out... Then I'll start buying it all. ::)
Huge thanks to JohnH on the K-Mart tip. I stopped there tonight just because of your post and found wave 3. Picked up Zartan, Firefly, Stalker and Shipwreck.
Now I just need to find wave 2 Beachhead and Buzzer and maybe the Cobra Trooper. I've already passed on Lady Jaye and Serpentor a couple times...they just aren't appealing to me.
Ace and Wild Weasel
Rumor has it that is issue #115
As I was looking at my Star Wars collection last night that is overfilling my collection room, I realized that there is no way that I can also collect GI JOE stuff, especially considering how much I'm wanting to be able to get quite a bit of Indy stuff next year.... really hard to do since I really do like the Joe stuff, but it looks like I'm going to stop this Joe habit before it gets out of control when the vehicles and comic packs start being released.
Rumor has it that is issue #115

Looks like some good stuff coming up.
Finally caved and picked up Firefly and a coupla red ninjas. Fighting the urge to army build the red ninja for sure. Firefly is damn sweet.
I have successfully managed to resist all figures so far except those 3 and storm shadow. When it comes to ninjas though, I have a big soft spot!
Oh well, I guess I don't have to be worried about being sucked in after all... ::)
Picked up a Crimson Guard today... just a couple days after I swore I was done buying these.

This is the V1 Snake Eyes we should have gotten from the beginning, and he has the "fixed crotch".... I hope to open this in the morning...

Do they all have fixed crotches? Somehow I can't get anyone to answer this simple question.
That sucks ass. :(
Instead of a cool, stand alone issue with a sweet shot of the Rattler pwning the Skystriker (the plane Ace actually came with), they go for an issue with a bad view of the rattler shooting a lame stealth jet during a lame storyline.

Fell 3 figures further into the G.I. Joe abyss today. My total collection is now:
1 x Storm Shadow
4 x Red Ninja
1 x Firefly
1 x Beachhead
Fighting tooth and nail to keep from buying the whole line. Any words of encouragement are welcome.
Well, you guys weren't much help! Found and bought 6 crimson guards at Walmart this morning. Throw me a life raft, sinking here!
I saw a new wave listed in the latest issue of Toyfare. It's got Flash, Snake Eyes (original uni in black), a Crimson Guard, Iron Grenadiers Destro and Snowjob. This line is getting tougher to resist with the quality of the figures.
According to the Hasbro 411 at CTR (http://www.cooltoyreview.com/story/front/The_411_Hasbros_2008_Plans_110900.asp), here's how Joes are shaping up for 2008:
-24 Single Carded Figures
-18 Comic Two Packs
-Battle Packs (5 Packs of Four Figures Each)
-10 Vehicles
-12" Figures
Vehicles... I wonder if the HISS will be larger so figures can actually sit in it properly.
Where did you see the comic packs at?
Yeah, the singles fly off the shelves here in STL. It's awesome seeing this line doing as well as it has.
Wasn't there some sort of chick that was part of Cobra-La? The one that broke into the Terror Drome? That would make for a cool figure I think.

That was Pythona. I agree that it would make for a great first-time figure. :)
Anybody still finding w5? I've been searching for weeks now and I've just been finding seas of hooded Cobra Commanders.
I'm hoping that they continue to ship the Crimson Guard throughout the year so I might actually be able to get one of them. :)
I picked up a Hawk/Scarlet and Dreadnoks CP. The Dreadnoks are cool. Scarlet's lame, but I dig Hawk.
I thought that the Dreadnocks were in w2 ???
Why is it that Hasbro throws us a bunch of trash in the first wave of comic packs?

I'm not following the waves, so I don't really know. But I got 'em. In addition to the packs mentioned (Duke vs. CC; SE v. SS, etc.), I also saw the Destro vs. Breaker (?) pack, but I passed. So I'm guessing that's wave 2, too, right?
There aren't enough action figures with cowboy hats and six-guns.
E...
I have to admit though, at first when I saw the orange life vest I thought we might be getting a Cutter figure.
Where'd this Red Star dude come from? I'm sure he was in a comic, but not part of the regular line?
I've heard a rumor that WMs that aren't currently carrying the line will start doing so on January 24th 2008, so I bet it's WM that's stocking all this new stuff. I've been to Target every day this week only to find the same two Cobra Commander figures sitting there.
Mike - did you ever get your Cobra Legions on clearance? I thought I saw a ton of these last week, but haven't seen a single one since they went 75% off...
That was that last version of SE I owned as a kid before I left toys alltogether back in the day
Well they took the goggles off the Viper eh? Probably a smart move. It looks pretty cool... though I think that as a kid, I only liked this figure because the traditional Cobra officers were hard for me to get.

Same with me. It would have been nice if Hasbro would have kept the officers/soldiers in the mix. I think I only had one regular Cobra trooper until the Python Patrol came out. Weren't both figures repainted for that unit?
Wow...That takes me back. I totally forgot that they repainted the Crimson Guard. There's three EASY repaints for Hasbro right there so we're bound to get these eventually. When's the last time Hasbro passed up a good/bad opportunity for a repaint?
I think there were a few more of the Python Patrol, but I'm not sure if they were grunts or not. I remember the Joes had there own special team of repaints as well. I think they could revive the 5pack for something like this.
I read somewhere that some are speculating that some of these figures (like the Cobra Commander) may be pack-ins with some upcoming DVD releases (maybe the "movies" like Mass Device or something). I do hope we see some DVD releases of the old 'toon again. I couldn't really afford the sets the last time around, and was hoping they would see re-release - or at least the movies or something.
Pics of new Target exclusive vehicles on GIJoeclub.com (http://gijoeclub.com/)
Plus there's the new Doc redemption form where you can send in Battle and Flag Points for extra Doc figures.

Nuts. I didn't realize they were going to make a new form. I already stuck some redemption stickers to one of the cards that came in a comic pack. I wonder if I should cut them out and glue them on this one or just fill this out and send it along with the other card.
Better read up on it I guess.

I like em all except for the Baroness and CC so I'll probably skip those two, but I'd like to have that brain in a jar thing CC comes with. Crang? :D

Those are crystals from one of the mini-series I believe
Flash (pretty neat, but I can't get his hose to plug into the backpack)
Picked up the following today at Walmart -
- Gung Ho (already had the same 5-pk one, but it was very wobbly - this one stands!)
- Snake Eyes (already had the same 5-pk one, but this one is darker paint scheme, couldn't pass it up)
- Destro Iron Grendadier (without a doubt the BEST figure I've seen in this line... if the whole line was constructed this well, I'd really be even more interested in it)
I noticed a new rumor list on the HissTank forums (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/showthread.php?p=50680).

Kinda stupid to have three figures carded and the rest all loose, no ???

It's just cool that you open your stuff. ;)
Cobra Commander Vs. Tripwire
Wave 5 Comic Packs...
Destro & Iron Grenadier
Cobra Commander Vs. Tripwire
Lieutenant Falcon Vs. Nemesis Enforcer
I agree especially on the Iron Grenadier for army building purposes.
Like a damn fool, I just bought the Ace/Wild Weasel 2-pk at Walmart. I don't know what's wrong with me. I did pass on the twins and new Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow 2-pk though.
I think I'm going to just have to call this line quits... it's been fun, but I don't have room or the money for this line... not with collecting Star Wars too... look for an updated "sale" list in the next week in the classifieds...
I got all the wave 3 comic packs this weekend...well I didn't..Rob did, I drove 20 miles to meet him, so look at all the hard work I did..
I don't frequent the Joe sites as much as I'd like so do any of you guys know if there might be some revision cases coming down the pipeline? The majority of these figures were extremely difficult to track down even in their initial shipments.
A friend of mine picked up the Ace and Wild Weasel and Tomax and Xamot Comic Packs for me today. He grabbed them at a local Wal-Mart.
On the Original 13 Checklist...Clutch and Steeler (check and check)...that means we need ZAP and Short Fuse and we have completed the O13.
Also, I loved the nod to the vintage Tomax/Xamot packaging with the "mirrored" sides inside that set's bubble. Great assortment. :)
I am still moving slowly (damned dial-up) through the images of the new stuff at Toy Fair
What is that thing in the back next to the little cart?
Thanks for the info and pics Paul! I don't even remember what the MASS is, but I'll take it. Had no idea there were more pieces to it.
The little cart with the samples of sand, water, etc is probably my favorite part of the whole thing... :)
If they make a figure of the Vwiper this will be the coolest line of all time!
Scored the wave 3 comic packs last night. Tomax and Xamot are fantastic.
I also found wave 4, so I bought a set of that too. I spent about $70 on toys last night. :P
If they make a figure of the Vwiper this will be the coolest line of all time!
What's a Vwiper? The standard Viper coming out soonish.
The repack wave (Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, Gung Ho) is really pegwarming... too many Joe repacks, not enough Cobras.
I didn't check Gung Ho to see if he had any changes to the leg articulation, though. The 5-pack version that I have is really loose so I thought about buying another one but didn't feel like spending the scratch.
The Vwiper... Isss coming...
Then that f'n obnoxious Boston accent from Barbecue... Good god.
I cannot find the Grenadier Destro wave anywhere. what store has been getting that wave in the most? Any updates or finds as of late?

I hate to say this, but try Kmart. I found two cases at one last week while trying to complete my carded set. Of course this store was in a ghettoish part of town mind you.
I found Wave 6 at the local WM this morning.

Wave 7 carded and loose (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=9&itemid=12626)
Man, that card art has me sold on the Duke in this wave.
I've decided that I'm out after Wave 5 and Tomax/Xamot..no space and with Indy coming...no more additional moolah
I've decided that I'm out after Wave 5 and Tomax/Xamot..no space and with Indy coming...no more additional moolah
I hope Alpine, Bazooka, Dusty and Sgt. Slaughter make the line cut before this line ends.
I am glad I am not an Indy fan. Mr. Jones seems to be the deciding factor for other members collecting this line without gripes or guilt. I think this line has way more potential but that just my opinion. Anything past the 1988 series just got down right dumb. 88 had some decent characters, so that's my cut off point.
Post 88 Figs that I would take...if they aren't on the list...Don't want em...Don't need em...(this is my personal list mind you, no offense to anybody else's list)
Night Viper
Hasbrotoyshop.com has the Tamox / Xamot comic pack wave in stock right now. Use DISC10 for 10% off.
Won't last long...
Drilling the hole wouldn't be too hard if you really wanted that Dr. P. Just match a bit up to the diameter of the pack's peg and drill with a steady hand, voila. Just a thought is all.
New stuff seems to be popping up more frequently, I am sure the TRU BP's will not be too hard to find. You are not missing anything you do not already have. The BP's are all repaints, this line reuses the same bodies so many times they need to get more fresh blood in there. Don't get me wrong I love it. I only say this because I just noticed Wild Weasel and Snow Job share the same body and I have had enough of Snake Eyes. He is the Vader of this line.
I am up to 12 Cobra Troopers, 3 Cobra Officers, 2 Cobra Drivers, 4 Jetpack Troopers, 3 Elites 8 Crimson Guards. I am starting to get out of hand so I think I will cool off the army building somewhat. when the vehicles hit I am in deep **** because I know I will get sucked in........anyone know when they start hitting retail?
I've almost pounced on a few on eBay since this line started, but so far I've held back.
Off the top of my head some names are slipping my mind too, but I'd like the bridge layer's driver, the HAVOC's driver, the Conquest X-30 Pilot (Slipstream I believe), the Firebat Pilot, the Black Cobra Jet's pilot, etc.
All of these lists just puts a big smile on my face. I hope Hasbro is listening and starts cranking out more great characters before this line is put into the grave.

At the rate this line is selling I am not sure they will bury it........
This stuff is flying off the shelf. The only duds are wave 1 comic packs.
Wow, that blows the first Lady Jaye out of the water...
Maybe it's the lighting, but I think the face looks horrible on that new Lady Jaye.
For all of the LJ haters here is another shot. The other shots are very early proto shots that are getting tweaked.

Is there a site out there that has a round-up of all the QnA's like we have here and on Scum?? I know of only a few Joe sites and it's hard enough to find their own QnA's..
The Joe line is INSANELY hard to pass up for me, mind you. I'm admiring from afar, but my brother gave me a cobra pack he got extra in the mail the other day... ****.
Reason being is that I am a GI Joe comic fan. I have the complete series from the entire Marvel, Image, Devil's Due, etc. runs. Anyways, I just want to know if this is new comic and worth purchasing the SE/SS two pack. As stated before, I'm not into buying the figures anymore, but if this is a "limited" comic, I may have to saves some pennies and cash in some aluminum cans for this one.
The comic was terrible, you are not missing anything - period.
I wonder if they'll be out with the Order 66 2-packs. It seems likely with both SW and TF having exclusives out around the same time.
That's insanely cheap... I'm thinking more like $20 a pop?
Hmmm... maybe we can work out a deal. I'm interested in several HISS tanks perhaps, but might not need the drivers.
Saw the new 3-pks at TRU today, but had the willpower to pass! They looked pretty decent, but the only one I'm interested in is the Joe one.
I don't think they come with a piece to anything... I'm pretty sure the pieces to the Mass Device are going to come with some DVDs of the cartoon?
and I'm tempted to get a couple HISS tanks for my Star Wars collection.
Oh, I would dare. I'm thinking HISS tanks and Super Battle Droids. Joes with Prequel figures might be an even bigger sin.
Saw the $6.84 price increase at a second Wal-Mart today... ::)
Odd, I saw a series 1 Storm Shadow at a Wal Mart yesterday. Maybe some straggler cases are making their way out.
Picked up a third set of vehicles for my same friend today. The more I look at the Night Specter, the more I just frown on the whole line in general. Sure, it might've been cool in the 80's but now the thing looks ridiculous. I'm not too keen on the blue color on the HISS tank, so if I get some for myself I would have to fix that, contrary to what I said earlier. Not too sure how I would do that... CHEWIE, do you do commission work? I'm sure you could make a HISS fit with Star Wars figures quite well, and I'd be willing to pay you to make it happen.
Would this be Wave 5 (for 2008)/Wave 9 (overall)?
I wish I knew about the Hawk coming, I would have passed on the two pack one. The jacketed Hawk was always Hawk to me, not the two pack version.
Who (or what) is Wraith?
Saw the Joe vehicles today, and believe it or not, I passed! I just thought they looked so cheap.
Saw the Joe vehicles today, and believe it or not, I passed! I just thought they looked so cheap.
Same quality as in the 80's my friend. I'm very happy to have these vehicles in my collection. :)
If I weren't so strapped for shelf space, I'd probably have caved in. I just don't know what to do with this line. Collect it all? Pick and choose? Create a diorama and just fill it up with a battle scene? Sell what I have? Not sure yet. I'm afraid the same it going to happen to me with the Indy stuff. :-\
If Most people on these boards seem to think that all SW collectors will be buying Indy stuff, but I don't quite get that.
Most people on these boards seem to think that all SW collectors will be buying Indy stuff, but I don't quite get that.
I would hope there is more than that for the next 8 months. Also, what's up with the new Zartan? Is he not corrected this time coming with his Swamp Speeder thing? Has anyone heard about a corrected version of Serpentor with his chariot? I can't believe Hasbro messed those 2 figures up.
In-package pics of Doc (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=9&itemid=12811)
Frack, he's on a card. Guess I have to get two of them now. >:(
Ok, picked up a HISS today that I plan on repainting. If it turns out ok, I'll probably try and get another to paint too. I think that gray could be a good paint scheme for this vehicle.
Has anyone else not had their checks for Doc cashed yet? I sent mine off the same day as I did my CW Rex mail-in offer, and that check has been cashed
Do we know what the price point on these is going to be yet? Will it be in the $10 range like the Target exclusives or will be be looking at the $15 range (higher and I'll probably pass).
You'd think they'd release the Cobra version of the Vamp (clueless on the name) with the doors/top/windshield thingy to go along with this release. It would be a perfect Joe vs. Cobra battle. :D
Hey, don't forget about the VAMP Mark II (http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/84/vampmk2/)! That was actually my first VAMP version but that same year, 1984, Sears had an exclusive boxed set with the original VAMP and HAL which I think I got for Christmas from my grandparents.
Seriously, who needs that many Snake Eyeseseses? ::)
BTW- I noticed TRU has followed suit with WM and Target and raised their GI Joe basic price to $7.
Crazy that they are going to have a Matt Trakker figure in this line
I've finally settled on this purchasing scheme: all characters and most vehicles from the 1982 introductory line, and only the most memorable characters (for me) from 1983 (including Gung-Ho and Doc). I really love the look of Bazooka and Barbecue, and I had those figures when I was a kid (though I was close to leaving the line), so I'm limiting myself to just the beginning when I was most heavily into it.
Crazy that they are going to have a Matt Trakker figure in this line, although probably no crazier than the Fridge, Sgt Slaughter or Rowdy Roddy Piper.
This line is going to take a back seat to that God awful movie coming.
He's from an awesome toyline from the 80's.
M.A.S.K. (http://www.matt-trakker.com/index.php) (quick google)
No, I know who Matt Trakker is, but how does he relate to the GI Joe line?
Who are the Joes with the Dillo and RAM? Random generic greenshirts or are they half-assing guys like Steeler and putting him in the Armadillo instead of his tank?

I'm also afraid of breaking the antenna on the AWE Striker as well. With all the rubbery accessories we get out of Hasbro nowadays, you'd think they'd actually use that stuff when it made sense. Like the antenna on the Striker.
Nice find Neal! I had no idea these were hitting. Looks like HTS has them up for pre-order as well. Shipping 06/12 and I believe there's a 10% off code out there somewhere.
Cobra Commander w/ plastic jar?
Wow, I'm behind. I still haven't ever seen Torpedo. :'(
Our Target sources tipped us to some G.I. Joe information if you guys are curious... Here's the DPCI list that turned up in Target's computer system today. Sounds like we're the first with this news, even though we're not a GI Joe site. Go figure. :P
087-06-0441 joe vehicle 14.99
087-06-0904 joe battlepack 19.99
087-06-1092 rhino vehicle w/fig 24.99
087-06-2047 joe large vehicle 24.99
087-06-2067 joe ultimate battlepack 59.99
Since I don't keep up with GI Joe stuff, I'm not sure really if any of this was known or not, but I figured you guys would appreciate the head's up here first.
Mindbender would be a great choice, he was always a favorite of mine as a kid. I thought Hasbro already "spilled the beans" on all the figures they're releasing this year - or was that just the carded figs?
The Ultimate Battle Pack is the going to be the most interesting
Maybe a Python Patrol vs. Tiger Force type thing
In typical Internet Toy Collector Fashion the reaction on the Joe-Centric Sites... one is ignoring the post because it wasn't posted by one of the regulars, one group seems un-impressed, one is wildly speculating. Ah gotta love the collecting community.

You have fun with those. :)
Speaking of Doc, I need 2 stickers if anybody has them. Will gladly trade something or pay for them if need be.

There is speculation (and I LOVE SPECULATION) that the Rhino in Jesse's leaked list (that has now been confirmed by other Target employees, so JJ's not the liar he was a few days ago) is actually a MASK vehicle because they are making that Matt Trakker figure....
There is a variation of Major Bludd's filecard. Early cards of his had one version of his poem, later file cards had a second version of his poetry.
Early versions have: When you're feeling low and woozy/Slap a fresh clip in your Uzi/Assume the proper firing stance/And make the suckers jump and dance!
Later versions have: A mercenary's job is a heartless one/I'm a soldier for hire, like a pawn-shop gun/My ruthless tactics keep you on your toes/'Cause I fight 'em all, whether friends or foes!
Neither card seems to be more difficult to find than the other.
Anybody know of any other Joe sites that have QnA's beyond Hisstank, Yojoe, & Cooltoyreview? Looks like a batch just came out and I'd love to read up on more responses. It is a version of what Matt does for us with Star Wars and Indy questions. You have to click to each one though.
Could that, perhaps, be the base for Toht in the Indiana Jones line? Or any numerous IJ characters in suits (Gestapo, Dr. Jones, etc.)? Maybe just Hasbro's way of milking it.
When his thumbs or crotch broke, you got a new one.
What do you guys think about a (re) release of the Cobra Hydrofoil? I know that they released it a few years ago, but I believe it was repainted to be a Joe vehicle. I wasn't into Joes at the time so obviously I didn't pick it up. Not sure what TRU charged for it, but I'm sure Hasbro could crank this sucker out being the only larger vintage vehicle that still has a mold - that we know of.

I got replacement fins for mine here:
http://www.brokenarrowtoys.com/cart/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=203
Originals were too hard to find and the one set I did find, broke when I put them on my Hovercraft.
Sideshow Snake Eyes is up for pre-order.
And Jesse, on the Deep Six front, that figure is all new with new articulation. He's not as articulated as the rest of the 25th figures just due to the suit, but he has swivel shoulders, elbows, swivel wrists, and knees. I think his hips might move too but I'm not positive on that.
Still haven't had any luck on finding w7 again. I really need a Wild Bill to crack open. :-\
If you want an opener let me know, I have an extra on a crushed card.
Never thought they'd do Cobra La in the new line. I guess Crystal Ball and Ice Cream Soldier can't be far behind? That pack's a definite buy for me.
I like the reuse of the Indiana Jones truck as a Cobra vehicle. That didn't take long.
But, who is this Black Banshee? Looks like a ripoff of General Grievous. And I'm surprised by all the Cobra-La stuff. Never liked that back in the 80's, don't really care for it now.
Definitely some very cool stuff on the way.

I am making a prediction here.....Target Exclusive Rattler...
I am making a prediction here.....Target Exclusive Rattler...
I'm making a prediction; TRU Exclusive Rattler.
Think that's the "big" piece they're showing tomorrow or maybe something else is coming? I'm so crossing my fingers for a WHALE.
E...
So, if I'm reading Hisstank right, Flagg playset for the Joe line? Confirm?
If so, Holy ****. << Edit, I think I'm just reading their review wrong.
As for the Conquest, I think that was one of the worst kept secrets because it was in an adveritsement a couple months ago and we already had every other vehicle in the ads confirmed at the time. That one was pretty much expected.
As for the Rattler, I've heard from a couple places that it would be TRU but maybe that changed or they all had bad info. Either way, it's a cool vehicle that will be fun to see on the shelves again. << Edit; Looks like BOTH the Conquest and Rattler are Target exclusives...and once again, it appears that Target and Hasbro are really in bed together.
And let me throw in another request for the WHALE. ;D
E...
Attila the Hun from Arise, Serpentor, Arise.
He is part of the DVD pack. I am getting several of them (for the Dusty's) remind me when they hit and I can hook you up with the extra ones. They are due in the Fall.
At my store they don't even need more than one peg, they never have enough stock to cover more than that. They get a case, sell a case. Wait a month, get a case, sell it. Rinse, repeat.
For the life of me, I can't figure out how, with 6 figures per case, they could have ended up with that many.
The other camera has better shots, but Alyosha has it, so it is up to him to post the goods.
I did get the RAM and Trouble Bubble 2 pack as well..
Happy belated b-day Paul!
Do these vehicles have a street date for some reason? None of the 4 "big box" stores in my area have these yet.
Some say this is a non issue but I have to disagree.
I saw something weird today at a grocery/department store--eight pegs full of Valor vs. Venom single carded figures:
Some say this is a non issue but I have to disagree.I agree with you, the arms are terrible. Thankfully they finally have them fixed.
Nice to see figures reissued but I am disappointed that they did not correct the reissue Flint's arms.
Nice to see figures reissued but I am disappointed that they did not correct the reissue Flint's arms.
Are they re-releasing w1 Flint?? He's the only carded figure I'm missing and I'm not willing to pay a small fortune on eBay for him.
Do any of you guys, and I know some are into customizing these, get into using Power Team Elite vehicles? I know they've done some vehicles even in Joe colors, but man their Warthog would make great "wingmen" for the Rattler with very little work... Some generic cobra pilots in there and you're doing great for a cool "ceiling" hanging set-up.
Just a thought to you Joe guys... The PTE Humvees are pretty ideal Greenshirt transports too, or whatnot. Cheap stuff, displays good. Not that anyone needs more **** taking up space.
My local Target did their reset, and now they have six pegs for the basic figures. You know, they really seem to have a sense of humor since they've never, ever received more than two cases at one time.
If you look up in the top right hand corner of the figure's card (where it usually says "As Seen on TV" or whatever), it says "Mobile Armored Strike Kommand," so they're not hiding any balls.
Interesting....
Any ideas as to when the exclusives will be up ???

Which is why I yearn for more 3-3/4" M.A.S.K. figures, especially Brad Turner who I had a man-crush on in 5th Grade

Hey Aly,
Sprry75 wanted to know if the HISS driver (Rip it) with the General Release HISS came with a Pistol, I can't remember, do you recall?
What's the third DVD battle pack? I thought there were only two out right now.

Pretty sure he was reffering to Target, TRU, WM.
Spent a good chunk of my time on Saturday applying all of the stickers to the new vehicles. I really dig the aspect of being able to do what with these things (again) even though most of you despise it.
Got my shipping notice this morning from HTS. I really hope they screw up and give me one blue and one black CC as I've been hearing reports of this on other sites.
Got both of my orders to HTS today. One was for one each blue and black Cobra Commanders and the other was for the Disturbance in the Force set.
The CC figures are nice, I didn't realize the card art was different for them and that's a nice touch.
Question on that wave 11 case, is that just an Internet exclusive mix or is all of wave 11 exclusive to etailers?
Brian,
Did you pass on the Ninja Ku? I see him a bit more around here than the BAT and Snow Serp (which I've seen once at retail) but he is still hard to come by for some reason.
While I was never a big fan of this character this sculpt looks really good. (I just hope they don't paint the eyes like the Toxic Avenger on every figure.) The DVD packs rock!

I don't even know how they got him graded so quickly unless AFA has a booth at the convention.
I apparently missed out on the new comic packs yesterday by not being at Target at opening. ::) Doesn't appear that they had the black headed Destro in the store, however.
Tonight Target had a re-stock on the DVD Battle Packs and the Hawk/Bazooka/etc wave (whatever number that is).
E...
No luck on those, but I haven't seen the first wave of vehicles either.
I really hope they continue to release BATs and Snow Serpents for a long time to come.
Good for you. I'm still at full steam, but that w12 is a pretty big let down. I was a little taken back in one of the QnA's in that Hasbro wants to make this line have as much girth as it did back in the 80's - I'm guessing all movie/cartoon stuff. They pretty much own the action figure aisle at most stores anyways.
I think a lot of it has to do with me dropping about a grand on Star Wars stuff the past month...
I think a lot of it has to do with me dropping about a grand on Star Wars stuff the past month...
That's a lot of the reason I'm pretty much dropping out of Joes (and maybe other lines) at this point now. There's just so much SW stuff to keep up on these days, and space/budget becomes an issue for many of us at this point in the line(s).
To me, the Skystriker will always be GIJ's jet of choice, but since I'm guessing you won't see a Skystriker any time soon, may I suggest looking for the Power Team Elite F-16? The Conquest X-30 is cool but I found it and its pilot a tad obscure... Plus it's a later-release. I think Ace would've moved onto a more modern jet by now though and the PTE plane, with the right paintjob, fits the bill I think.
I've not seen these jets in the Pittsburgh area but I had both so it'll be neat seeing them again. Loved teh Rattler and VTOL wings/jets. It was apparantly the most versatile Warthog in the world since it could keep up with the Skystriker in every way. Then again so could trouble bubbles.
Over the last couple of weeks I've noticed that both my WM and Target have been sitting on figures a lot longer then they were earlier in the year. I guess Hasbro finally got to the point where they are meeting the demand better. Hopefully they haven't reached a saturation point like they have with the SW figures where lines start backing up due to peg warmers.
I wouldn't say that any of the figures I"m seeing are "hot" but they aren't bad figures. Plenty of Wild Bill, Flint, Duke (who really needs a break from the line), some versions of Snake Eyes and some other misc characters here and there like Torpedo, Rock 'n Roll and Cobra soldiers. The latest wave, with Bazooka and the others is around for the most part.
The comic packs, however, have really been sitting. That newest wave, IMO, was kind of a dog. The Tripwire figure is nice but the other 5, eh. I'm not a Cobra La fan and the Falcon isn't that good. Another Destor and an army builder...wasn't worth it to me.
E...
Thaks for the info, Jesse. If they're still around when the sale hits I might pick up that Duke/Red Star set for the Red Star figure. Maybe another CG/Cobra Officer set.
Anyone know when the next wave of DVD Battle Packs is supposed to be hitting retail?
E...
JJ, if all you want is the PPSH...I've got you covered..I have a couple extras.
Fitting some of the new 25th figures into these older vehicles is one of the few things that I didn't like about the line.
I have to keep telling myself that I have no room.
I honestly don't think Hasbro intended on releasing vehicles with the 25th line so they were probably never "meant" to fit in most vehicles. Dissapointing, but I can live with it.
Picked up a Conquest X-30 today. No sign of the Rattler, but I'm not sure I have room for two of these.
Yeah, but I have the 2002 Rattler so it's hard to buy something I already bought (says a guy who owns four ROTS Jedi Starfighters...)
I suppose if I find a Rattler, I'd buy it.

2x Shockwave & Pilot Destro
1988 Release...GI Joes SWAT Trooper also released as part of the Night Force sub-team.

Hopefully Hasbros will look close to this....

Agreed. And apparently after drinking a fair amount of highly flammable Dreadnok moonshine. I hope this is implemented as an action feature in future...um...releases.
Stupid question- if I were to order a couple of Eels from HTS now, does Hasbro charge at the time of sale or when they ship?
BTW, new promo code for HTS- MDCREW, good for 20% off until 11/17.
When are we going to get a Dr. Mindbender?
Thank you for your incredible support over the past year. What started as just a handful of figures in 2007 now includes a full line of figures, vehicles, comic packs, DVD packs, Mighty Muggs, and Combat Heroes. Yo Joe!
We would like to take this opportunity to answer one of the most common questions about the classic 3 3/4"" figures we have heard from the fans: Will there be any more classic 1980's 3 3/4"" figures after fall 2008?
The Hasbro G.I. Joe Team's response: In late 2008 you will see a bonus wave of single figures and classic comic packs that are redecos of figures from the 25th Anniversary collection. Due to the huge success of the G.I.Joe line, we were able to squeeze in a number additional figures into the end of this year. But this does not mean the end of classic figures or new tooling! As we head into 2009 prior to the August 2009 live-action movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, you will see newly tooled classic vehicles, newly tooled versions of your favorite characters from G.I. Joe Resolute, and a number of favorites you have been waiting for:
Dr. Mindbender, Alpine, Tunnel Rat, Alley Viper, Recondo, Outback, Night Creeper, Zap, Shockwave, and even more!
With the release of the 2009 movie you will see many of your favorite 1980's characters in movie styling, but that does not mean the end of the classic style. The Hasbro G.I. Joe Team recognizes that there are plenty of additional classic 1980's figures and vehicles to release in the future after the movie and in the years to come."

According to HissTank, the snow thing is a vehicle from the forthcoming live action movie.

I got my order, and Croc Master is the highlight for me. He's got crocodile teeth marks in his arm. Way cool.
Para Viper is really a great figure...
If you are an opener...he is even better.
Does the Paraviper's guns attach anywhere on him? He's not going to jump holding them in his hands, so they have to be secured somewhere - the question is where? Right now I have the long sniper rifle on his back underneath his airhoses and the small automatic gun tucked under his front parachute. It looks fine but they're not too secure. There has to be a better way.
Rattler stickers really do suck, every time I look at mine I have to pres the stickers back down. I wonder if Hasbro offers replacements........
I'm tellin' ya...lawyers suck.
Paul, get in here and defend our profession.
The Skyhawk looks great, I might actually grab two of those.
Been passing on pretty much everything with this line as of late... saw the Cobra Fang w/ Glider at Wal-Mart last week. Looked kind of cool, but the figures were a bit silly with their color schemes. So, I passed.

The Skyhawk is actually a new tool which is more incentive to by it. I may buy two as well when it hits. Chew, I know you can make a sweet custom ship for SW out of it.
Question. Does the Breaker in the Trouble Bubble set have all of the accessories that the comic pack version came with (helmet, communicator, bubble gum, etc)? Also, in the first wave of vehicles the figures didn't come with stands - do they in the newer releases?
John
The joes figs will be on temporary price cut at target for 4.99 from nov 4 thru nov 24.

Got around to opening the Rise of Serpentor and Pyramid of Darkness sets. Dusty & Quickick are now my favorites. Is the Cobra box meant to connect to the MASS Device or something? Not really following it. Looks like a big Energon cube from Transformers.

I've been seeing this price all over my neck of the woods, but some are saying this price isn't at every store. ???
Just thought I'd let everyone know that the second batch of Docs has started arriving. I got in 8 today, and as a suprise, they all seem to have the fix (non-emo) Duke forearms. Other than that the packaging and cardback are all the same. Good stuff!
For those interested, I see that the last DVD pack, "The Best of the 80s", is now available at HTS (and the MDCREW code still works as well).

Thanks for the heads up! :)
**SOLD OUT :(
Does SE kill him in the comics?
Yay! My second Doc check got cashed yesterday. Hopefully they don't forget about the one they cashed back in June. Question - for those of you receiving multiples, are they shipping in one box or each white individual mailer?
Oh no they dit-unh.
I already have more figures than I ever had as a kid, within a year or so of collecting these.
Finally received my Doc this week. For once, it paid off to be a slacker since I got the version with fixed arms. :)
Picked up the Cobra Commander/Tripwire comic pack yesterday, as one Walmart in my area has their everday price on the comic packs at $7.00. Tripwire is a pretty nifty figure.
Scored Trakker, Zartan, and Airborne at Target late last night. Conveniently, after the $5 sale was finished.
Hah... I agree with just about all those except the Snowcat. Snowcat was just a bitchin' halftrack, but he makes a good point on guys hanging off the vehicle, plus they're directly behind the rocket's exaust out of the rear. Dumb picture, but the vehicle was one of the coolest ever I thought, and actually made sense save for perhaps the skipedoes.
Stuff like the Buzz Boar, Trouble Bubble, and Pogo are easily death traps though, and as much as the Fang saw action in cartoons and comics, it was one of the stupidest looking things ever and basically dicked any Cobra chopper guy over compared to the things GI Joe had hanging around.
I liked the HAVOC description. ;D
Oh, and anyone who's actually into military planes knows the Rattler just ain't cuttin' it as an airplane. Wild Weasel would've had to have flown something remotely speedy, as A-10's are basically slow ugly tanks in the air.
I had 16 of the 20 and Multiples of several.
Anyone have the number for Hasbro Doc? I don't feel like reading through 10 different threads at Hiss, and I'm still pissed I haven't received any of mine and even more pissed to find out that more people are getting theres that sent off late forms. >:(
But when I see something like the M1 Abrams or M3 Bradley military toys in the aisle at Target, the MOBAT looks kind of silly in comparison.
I snagged a Water Moccasin or whatever they're calling it now, but passed on the SkyHawk.
I got a hard copy of the Torch in the Mail today with Resolute Duke, Cobra Commander and Cobra Trooper. It is the new "Web" based episodes that are geared towards a more 'adult' audience, no parachutes, no laser guns...there is talk of finding a network for it too (most likely Cartoon)...
JJ you have Scooped EVERY SINGLE Joe site with that Bat Photo... that Rocks...
And worry more about the the "hood ornament" on that track than the what's in the back...
One of the funny parts of that BAT pic is that Hasbro said they didn't want to reveal how the Battle Damaged BAT was going to be released in their Q&A recently.
And luckily for Ryan..my Water Moccasin and Sky Hawk will be here at the office today.
It doesn't help on the Joe Q&A that they only do them a few times a year rather than on a weekly (now tri-weekly) basis.
The thing that I've noticed about the Q&A, and this seems to apply to both SW and Joe, is that members of one site will ask questions but not bother to read the responses from the other sites. Even when a site does a round-up report. Apparently some of the mods are the same way and that's why the same question will get passed on to Hasbro even a week or two after it's been answered by Hasbro for another site.
Plus there's the "clever factor" where everyone thinks their question (about playsets or the Tonnika sisters, etc.) is just clever enough that it'll trick Hasbro and finally get that magical answer that they want.
Pro tip; clever never works and should not be attempted by run of the mill forum rats.
E...
Whew. My neighbors were starting to notice the nightly shelling.
Just as a general heads up for people (and this could go for other Hasbro lines as well), but I received a Trakker and Eel today via HTS, and it arrived wrapped in one piece of brown paper inside a box. They were in fine shape, and I'm definitely not a MOC person, but for those who are - beware of orders right now. Also, strangely enough, it came via FedEx (its always been USPS prior to today). Anyways, just wanted to pass the info along. They usually at least toss an air bubble in there with them ;).
Prepare to be PO'ed. The one in the 5 pack looks to just be a recolor of the same figure with partially translucent armour.
Just out of curiosity, is the Blowtorch wave (Wave 13?) the last new wave (other than Resolute stuff) prior to the movie stuff starting up?
Oh, almost forgot; the Ultimate GI Joe Battle Packs? Not moving. Maybe 1 or 2 from my store and that's about it. The SW UBPs disappeared, though, and one of those two was **** compared to the other and the Joe set. It must be the hippie Liberal town I live in. Fantasy war, ok. Real world, bad.
I see where Dusty didn't have his web gear in some sets. Anyone know if he's missing them in all sets or does he have it in some?
And if that UBP goes on clearance, I might pick it up. But only for the Destro, Steeler and Grand Slam figures... the rest I'm sure I'd trade.
More Harness than Web Gear so to speak, but who am I to argue semantics on a Toy site
Yeah, I like that Destro sculpt with that paint job.
It is a great sculpt, but I've seriously lost count on how many Destros I have - especially since they get put into a box and sent to toy storage hell. Would have thought that everybody had their fill on that mold by now...
Sprry, I saw those Resolute figures last night at Target, picked up Cobra Commander and both Cobra troopers that I saw. I swore I wasn't going to get those, but seeing them in person was a different story. I opened CC when I got home and he's pretty damn sweet, I like the "meaner" helmet that he's got.
As for the paint jobs, the ones that I saw actually looked really good. Most of the figures I've seen lately look very nice on their paint jobs, except the Cobra disguise Flint... most of those are awful.
I also saw Blowtorch there, which looked alright but I passed on him. Passed on the Resolute Duke too... almost bought the new Firefly, but I resisted temptation. :P
Has anyone here been picking these up?
Has anyone here been picking these up? I've just got the Snake Eyes/Timber SDCC exclusive, but have to admit that I've been tempted to grab some of these when I've seen them. Our daughter really enjoys playing with the SHS and GH figures, and I thought I might throw a few of these in there as well. Anyways, like I said, I wasn't sure if anyone here was buying these, but just thought I'd pass it along.
That's good to hear, because I really want Blowtorch. As long as I just saw a bad batch, I'll be happy. Those new Cobra Troopers look sweet. I'll have to see a well painted Cobra Commander before I weigh in on him. His design is pretty cool...just a little too different for me right now.
It appears as though Blowtorch and the Resolute dudes are in stock on HTS right now. I picked up Beachhead/Mainframe and a Blowtorch. Now to see if I actually get Blowtorch.
Don't forget to use GIFT20 for 20% off.
After assembling my MASS device, I started setting up some of my GI JOE figures tonight (finally). And wow, was it fun! Much more enjoyable than setting up a Star Wars scene for me actually, maybe because it brought back so many memories of playing with my Joes as a kid (with Star Wars, I was so young back then that the memories aren't all that clear - but Joe stuff is easy to remember for me... every battle!!).
I still like SW a lot more, but this really was a breath of fresh air for me. I think all the customizing, dioramas and photonovels has really worn me out in a way.
Anyways, this got me to wondering if you guys have posted any pics of your Joe collections of this stuff (carded, loose, dioramas, etc.)?
UBP's 50% off here in MN.
UBP's 50% off here in MN.
Gah! Thanks for the heads up.
Just wondering... does that include Star Wars ones too?
I picked up the Dusty one even though it was without "web gear" or whatever. I'll just sharpie it on; I'm sure it will look great. :P
Found a ton of SRO wave 2 sets at my local TRU. I picked up the Cutter set, though the set withStarSkyduster was pretty tempting, if only for that figure. The Wild Bill in that set made me pass, since I hate the Wild Bill mold.
Anywho - what all is the Claw missing besides the extra 2 missles and/or what is wrong with the mold? Heard quite a few complaints about this thing, but I think it's pretty snazzy - never owned one as a kid.

If Hasbro had replaced the red Hiss with the Cobra Stinger, I think this set would have been far more popular.
If Hasbro had replaced the red Hiss with the Cobra Stinger, I think this set would have been far more popular.
Word. I think the red HISS looks cool, but we've had three versions in the last year. A Stinger would have been a nice draw.
I dug out my 2001 MOBAT over the weekend, and also think that if the UBP had a similar camo paint scheme, it would have been a more attractive set (although not as nice as a re-release of the Mauler would have been...).
That Tunnel Rat head is HORRIBLE....
And not to pick nits...but Tunnel Rat's neck would be sausage if he wore ammo with the tips "in" like that.
Hey Aly, does the store have any Imperial Hats in it? Jesse James here on the site needs some to "Review"....Also, anybody missing Dusty Harnesses still let Aly know, we have them in Stock and the members at JD.com get the "Paul" discount... I know Ryan needs one...
Yeah TR's neck is "odd". I was thinking it was the bandana he had tied aroudn his neck though, not the sculpt? I hope that's the case as TR was a cool character and it's lame if they made him a no-neck.
I love the concept of Tunnel Rat (and some other guys from around his era like Hit & Run, who was awesome), I just wish they'd made him a little sharper looking, and ditched the bfg there. I'd be all over a pump shotgun for TR. BBI made a perfect one... Even a sawed off though, would be nice.
I hate to ask again - but anyone have the Doc phone # ? I found time today and tried the 800-327-8264 I had written down, but it's just dead air.
That is indeed Darklon. Check out this Yo Joe entry for pics (http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/89/evader/evader_box.shtml). And he is part of the Iron Grenadiers.
Oh, man...I'd forgotten about Alley Vipers. Alley Vipers and their sweet urban orange and blue camo that enables them to blend in seamlessly with Denver Bronco fans.

Anyone know when that Arctic HISS is supposed to start shipping? The snow in my yard is starting to melt....
Looks like 2007 wave 4 is being released again. I found a case of them at my local WM, as if they didn't have enough trouble getting rid of them last year. ::) They were on the new cards, so they weren't old stock.
I saw Destro, Duke (w/bad arms), Roadblock, Storm Shadow, commando Snake Eyes, and Scarlett.
Also, HissTank (http://www.hisstank.com/gi-joe-news/25th-anniversary-3/gi-joe-hall-of-heroes-zartan-and-storm-shadow-7967/) has a look at what the packaging will look like for the upcoming "Hall of Heroes" line for the Joes. I wonder what the pricepoint on these, which look to be essentially repacks in new packaging, will be.

Anyone here actually pick up a set? I kinda still want them, but I've pushed them aside all this time so it's probably too late to snag them at a decent price.
Keep checking those Family Dollars- between the two local stores, I scored 6 BATs, 3 Snow Serpents, and 1 each of Bazooka and regular Wraith. I also saw Barbecue, Battle Armor CC, and Tripwire.
Also, keep hitting TJ Maxx/Marshalls. I scored a clear Wraith, Croc Master, and some wave 2 classic Combat Heroes there today. :)
