Sweet, but why do these teensy weensy pics of the toys before they release the full ones?

These are odd...

The Droid set looks like a whole lotta suck though aside from the cool gonk repaint.  The Magna droid's lame, the Droideka's lame, the BD's look like less than stellar sculpt choices, and the SBD is an old sculpt...  From what I can tell.

The Clone set looks a little cooler, but still I think some less than cool sculpts were used, such as Bacara there who looks like just Bacara repainted (and he's a meh figure).  I think the AT-TE Gunner sculpt is in there too...

The price isn't horrid for the figure count, but the battledroid set really is tough to justify with some of the sculpts they threw in there.  Make that a 30AC SBD, and modify the 3-pack Droideka to have poseable blaster arms, and I think I'd have been happier with the droids.  Magna Guard would be better replaced with a BD though, and then the worries on what plastic they use on everything ultimately...

Right now the CLone set is definitely the cooler of the two I'd say.

^ I pretty much second what JJ said. Overall it looks like a whole lot of "Huh?"

As far as characters go, they're dead on in keeping true to the pre-ROTS era of Battlefront 2.  These are all the troops involved in that part of the campaigns, minus the Clone Pilot.  But then that character is interchangeable with the Clone Engineer which IS represented here.

I suppose this set is nice enough for new collectors or fans of the game series, or something ... I'm not overly impressed with them, however. Episode I Battle Droids repainted? Wow. Great job, Hasbro!

And where are the OT figures from the Game.  Rebel Vanguards and Snipers...

I don't think I have played that game more than a dozen rounds as the Pre-Crapuel characters, but I have played hours (possibly days) at the OT.

But I guess if the sculpts they choose are gonna suck, I'd rather not get any.  Besides, I don't see this line going past wave 1.

Make's sence as a line of sets. I'd definitely be more interested in what OT sets would look like though.

This is a big pass for me. The only one that interests my is the Power Droid repaint and perhaps i can get one loose on ebay when the time comes.

The lame repaints need to stop.

You can bet the packaging will look better than the figures...

I love that Gonk repaint, but the other figures... Meh.

An OT set would be amazing though.

I'd love to get the weapons from this set but there's no way I'm buying this. Had they used superior sculpts I would consider it. HAlf of these molds need to be buried in New Mexico alongside those old Atari ET games.

I'm buying the clone set for sure. Not so sure on the droids. I doubt a rebel set would be cool, look at the droids all crappy sculpts. All rebel figures so far are crappy.

An Imperial set would be the best though. :o
Title: Re: Battlefront 2 Multipacks
Post by: Jesse James on April 12, 2007, 07:53 PM
I was thinking OT sets too...  I think an Imperial set could be cool if they use good sculpts...  That's a big if, given the Droid set we've seen.  I could easily see Commtech Stormtroopers and POTJ Scouts in it as opposed to new improved figures.

And on the Rebels...  Well, suffice it to say that I don't think a Rebel set would be too hot...  When the best Rebel you have out on the market is the Saga Endor Rebel, and he still sucks on some level, well I think I'd likely be passing on a Rebel set unless something really nice was offered in it.

I think the IMperial set has the most legs under it for being quality but that droid set takes many of my hopes and steps on them.

Ok, let's play a game here on Alliance vs. Imperials... what could they include?

Rebels might be better than what people are envisioning...

- X-Wing Pilot, using VSTC Luke body w/ generic head
- Rebel Fleet Trooper (w/ missle launcher)
- Rebel Sniper (female Rebel)
- Wookiee Warrior (maybe a Chewbacca VOTC w/ new head/paint scheme)
- Hoth Rebel (Derlin w/ new head)
- Endor Rebel (SAGA2 w/ new head)
- Paploo Ewok (bonus figure)

Imperials, this could be fun...

- Tantive IV Stormtrooper (Battle Pack version)
- Imperial Sandtrooper (Evolutions with speckled dirt)
- Death Star Gunner (SAGA2)
- Scout Trooper (VSTC)
- Snowtrooper (VTAC)
- Death Star Trooper (TAC)
- Medical Droid (bonus figure)

Now, I understand that it's pretty unlikely that good new sculpts will be in these much at all.

But what they really should do is include a stationary gunner station with each of these sets.

 :P

I seem to recall the following Imperials showed up in Battlefront 2....

-Stormtrooper - self-explanatory
-Heavy Stormtrooper - Basically a Sandtrooper
-Scout Trooper - features a sniper rifle
-Dark Trooper - self-explanatory
-Imperial Officer - Similar to General Veers with helmet and chest armor
-Imperial Engineer - This is a Death Star gunner with different weaponry

I can't recall a number of different rebels from the game.  I only wound with Rebel Troops that were in Endor style fatigues.
Title: Re: Battlefront 2 Multipacks
Post by: DoctorPadawan on April 13, 2007, 09:06 AM
The Rebel Troops in BF2 included:

1.  Rebel Trooper (Tantive IV style or Endor style)
2.  Rebel Heavy Trooper (Tantive IV style with rocket launcher)
3.  Rebel Sniper (Tantive IV style male or Endor style female)
4.  Rebel Smuggler (Design I hadn't seen anywhere but in Endor style colors)
5.  Bothan Spy (Bothan, obviously)
6.  Wookiee Warrior (Wookiee, obviously)

This is in addition to the Hoth stuff, which was different from the other levels due to the cold weather gear being used.

The Imperials in BF2 included:

1.  Stormtrooper (self-explanatory)
2.  Heavy Trooper (Sandtrooper with rocket launcher)
3.  Imperial Sniper (Biker Scout with sniper rifle)
4.  Imperial Engineer (DSG with shotgun)
5.  Imperial Commander (General Veers with sonic blaster)
6.  Dark Trooper (again, self-explanatory)

Additionally, on Hoth, the Stormtroopers, Heavy Troopers, and Snipers become regular Snowtroopers with those weapons, and the Engineer becomes an AT-AT Driver with a shotgun.

In the space battles, there are added Rebel Pilots (in X-Wing Gear) and TIE Fighter Pilots.

Watch an OT set have an Imperial officer with a grey jumpsuit, an armybuilder I've been trying to make as I get the parts.  :P

Is it just me or does the clone, 5th left to right, look like the engineer-or whatever he was-from the concept drawings for ROTS?  The helmet doesn't look like the standard clone helmet but it also looks like it has the antenae of the #41 clone.

These are really sorry except for the new weapons. I think they would sell more if Hasbro would have just offered the weapons in accessory pack minus the dated repaints. The Gonk and the Clone Engineer are about the only figures that I would like to have. All the others I have in some form or another. Would be cool to get some of the weapons in some other form than these sets.

I agree with other that Hasbro could and most likely will screw up the OT sets if they are made.

The weapons happen to be the things I like least about the sets. :P Don't get me wrong though, the Bacarra mold needs to be atomized.

Yeah,  I'm just hoping that somebody like GTG.com has a mold of that engineer helmet soon after release, still crossing my fingers they'll, GTG, have Neyo helmets soon  ;)

I've recieved a few e-mails from folks who say that their pre-orders for these box sets have been filled and it looks like they are in-stock at EE (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/aff-home.asp?id=JE-405087801&number=HS27796AA) as well.

So if you have these pre-ordered someplace, it might be a good idea to start watching for them.

www.dnstoys.com is where I ordered my set...

Code: 74633
Price: $61.99

Not a bad price compared to what I've seen other places charging.

For whatever reason I'm liking the looks of this set a little more now.

I got my sets from New Force today. :)

I have to say that the Clone box is pretty sweet.  Some nice sculpts (Airborne, Marine, RotS Evo, #41), combined with some nice paint jobs (2x 501st, 5th Fleet) and some new parts (new Clone Engineer head, new weapons).  It's a great deal for the $31 I paid for it.

It's a bummer though that the RotS Evo sculpt 501st figure is stuck in here because he's a figure very deserving of a Legends-esque re-release for army building purposes.  I hope we see him again down the line...  same with the 501st Jet Pack trooper.  I know the sculpt isn't the greatest, but his new 501st paint deco, jetpack and blaster are pretty cool looking.

The Droid set is fine.  Some nice repaints, but nothing really "wow" packed in there.

I have to say at first I regretted ordering these but the clone pack is actually pretty good. It has some new offerings like 2 new headsculpts, 3 new weapons & a new jetpack. I really love the Jetpack troopers new head sculpt, I wish it was on the other clones.

The Droid pack is really, really bad. The only figure that is worth getting is the Gonk droid. Had the BD's been the more articulated #17 ROTS style  & the TAC SBD sculpt, that really would have helped this very lacking set. But they give you the Legends cheapo sculpts. :(

Battlefront stands do not make up squat. Skimpers!

Huh, when I looked at mine last night, I didn't notice that he had a new head.  Interesting they would do that.  It's a definite improvement, especially the very top of the helmet and the lens area.  I hope it does show up on some other clones in the future as well...

So they used the ROTS Evolutions Clone for the standard 501st Clone?  That's a surprise.  I had actually been expecting another AT-TE Tank Gunner repaint, but with this development I may actually buy two or three of the Clone packs now.

When you get home take a close look. You will see a big difference on the top of the helmet and overall shape.

Sal, since you are a mega army builder if I were you I would get the Troopers but pass on the Droids. However, I have a feeling that these will go on sale like the briefing room sets if you wait.

Can you get just the clone set though? I thought you had to buy both sets at the same time.

I am holding out on this one hoping for a clearance. If it never happens I won't lose sleep. However pics would help me make a more definitive decision...

Sadly, I've "semi-retired" from the mega army building with only one trooper left to build-that being the correct Kashyyyk Clone. (I may still army build the SA 501st clone if he is indeed ever released on card.)

Popped these guys open last night. I knew the droid set would be a let down and it sure didn't disappoint sadly.
I know I'm not stating anything new, but bad choice of bodies all the way around, sadly, the Power droid, or ammunition droid in this case, is the bet piece in the bunch.

The other set is pretty fun. I appreciate the new head sculpt on the engineering clone and the waist articulation on the 501st.
