Just incase no one has seen this, as posted on RS by Chris Georgoulias.  :)

Celebration 4 Collector's Social Hour

Folks, the Collector's Social is scheduled for Thursday May 24 at 7 PM in the Collecting Panels room.

For those that attended at C3, I think you'll agree that it was a good chance to meet up with everyone early on in the convention. Since we've been pushing the social aspect of these conventions we have a ton of people that are at least familiar with one another by now. This is mainly a chance for new folks to come meet everyone.

We'll be showing off the medallions there as well as general hob-nobbing. We may or may not go around the room with a microphone and get people to introduce themselves.  :D  Unfortunately everyone gets into groups quickly which makes it kinda hard for a new guy to jump in, but to be honest everyone is generally very welcoming.

We'll have name tags (name/forum ID) and I urge people to write legibly so that others may identify you. This event is more of an opportunity for the new people to introduce themselves, rather than a place for people who already know each other to talk. It's up to you to make the effort to make contact rather than sit back and wait for people to approach you. Leave any shyness you may have at home for the weekend and you'll be fine.  :D

Thursday is the fan club only admission day. Initially we thought we could bypass that, but that's not the case. So what I need to know is who could not otherwise get into the building but still wants to attend. If you are definitely going to the Social and meet this criteria please drop me an email.

If you have a fan club lanyard or something other than a standard day/weekend pass you should be fine for getting into the building so there's no need to email me.

See you guys then!

Vintage Kenner / MECCANO to TRILOGO: The Book.
« on: January 8, 2007, 08:04 PM »
Gotta plug my good bud Stephane here.  ;D

MECCANO to TRILOGO: French to European Vintage SW Action Figures by Stephane Faucourt.

A little copy & paste &...

From (french) Meccano to (european) Trilogo: This book is dedicated to Star Wars action figure toys, from the elusive Meccano line, by the French licensee in 1978, to the European Trilogo line that was available until 1986.

It features the most extensive coverage ever published about both lines with the whole collections presented for the FIRST time, information, photography and printed material.

More than 500 illustrated pictures within 144 full color pages.

I just received this amazing book from over the pond, this book is just awesome. Nicely laid out, lots of pictures, checklists & so forth. Well worth every pennie & a great addition to SW collecting. If you want to order a copie they are 25 Euros or about $32. US plus shipping. Click the link below & get on before they are gone as these are limited to 350 copies.

If you order a copy, ask Stephane to personally autograph one.  ;)

You will not be disappointed, this book rocks!  :o :)

As we get closer to Celebration IV, I thought it would be good to have a list of people that have booked their flights & the hotels they are staying at.  :)

For myself, I will be staying at the Holiday Inn across from the convention centre.  ;D

As for my flight, I just booked & will be arriving on May 23rd at 11:00am & returning on May 29th morning flight.

Gotta love the Air Miles, sort of a free flight & I only had to pay the taxes & insurance. I was a little worried that I would be taking a milk run via Calgary or Vancouver which would have been a 7 1/2hr flight route but I lucked out & got a direct flight of 3 1/2hrs.  8)

Also note for us Canuckleheads, starting January 23, 2007, an American initiative will require travellers to the United States by air to carry a valid passport.

So when do you arrive & leave & what hotel are you saying at?  :)

Please update your link for The Star Wars Collectors Archive.

Quote
I wanted to get the word out the the SWCA is changing its domain name from toysrgus.com to  theswca.com. The reason for this is two-fold:

1. For a while I've wanted to switch to a domain name that more closely matches what the site is about (it is, of course, a site that deals with more than toys).
2. Geoffrey, Inc., the company that owns Toys R Us, has decided to send another C+D letter after 8 years of dormancy (and the subsequent PR fiasco from the previous attempt). Even though I think their assertion that they are entitled to all domains on the worldwide web that end in 'rus' remains ludicrous, or even more preposterous, that a site ending in 'rgus', belongs to them, I really don't care enough to spend time and money fighting it.

So we've already converted the site over to  theswca.com. Please update your links and spread the word since the toysrgus.com domain will be going away soon. Thanks.
