Loved that Cold Play Bit... There is an extended version of Peter Dinklages's song that they previewed before the red nose event.

I enjoyed tonight's episode... It's sort of refreshing to have so many divergent stories from the book now. Keeps me guessing as opposed to trying to remember if that's what happened.  Big fan of the Sand Snakes now  ;)

Overall, I think this season has been a real snoozer... sort of like the majority of books 4 and 5 so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.   I still think there is too much dilution of the multiple characters and their storylines; however, at least the last couple of episodes have been a bit more streamlined in the character stories.

I do constantly find myself checking with the internet sources for departures from the book (so that I don't think I'm going crazy and mis-remembering!)

At this point with the departures from the books, I'm almost looking forward to next season when all the stories will be fresh and I can just sit back and watch without comparing to the source material!

Finally finished Dance with Dragons tonight. I think I have as many questions as answers!  Glad to finally be "caught up".  I went back to read the last few pages of this thread too.

Good, certainly not great.  Far behind some of the other Marvel movies but I still enjoyed it.

Far behind which other Marvel movies?  GOTG, IM, and Winter Soldier are probably my top 3, but this and the first Avengers round out my top 5.  Curious to know which ones you'd put so far ahead of this one?

You missed the emphasis on "some".  I don't think our opinion is much different.  I put Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Iron Man 1 in my top 3.  After that the list really starts to jumble together.  There are parts of each MCU movie that I absolutely loved but collectively they don't stand out.  I didn't like the Winter Soldier nearly as much as most (and I can't really put my finger on why) but that's not the same thing as me saying that I didn't like it - because I did and I've watched it at least 3 times already.    So when I say far behind, all I'm really saying is that  Ultron doesn't crack my top 3.

Sometimes I find that movies grow on me even more after second viewings... one of my favorite parts of all the MCU movies (and agents for Shield for that matter) is the "witty" dialogue and humor.  Unfortunately with the exception of two scenes (IM/Hulk and Thor/Vision) I felt like I'd already seen all the "funny" stuff in the trailers.  I suspect upon a second viewing, I won't have those same faults and will probably like it more.

Yeah, there's a lot of nothing happening through a big chunk of those books.  Think all those "walking across mountains" scenes from Lord of the Rings.  Except each mile with 40 pages of details about the scenery.

I've got 3 chapters and an epilogue to finish up in Dance with Dragons... I will say from fresh experience... books 4 and 5 are a grind to make it through.  I think I've been reading those two for almost 18 months.  This season starting back up on HBO finally motivated me to finish the last of the published work.

I will say, reading books concurrent to watching the series is very confusing!!  I can't keep the individual story lines straight, especially when the show starts to veer significantly from the books!   I'm looking forward to putting the printed books down and just watching the show after tonight!

Saw it last night as well, thought is was really well done. A bit plodding at times, but needed to break up the virtually non-stop action.

I guess I sort felt like the story was disjointed from the beginning to the end.  Parts felt super-rushed and parts felt like they were dragged out way to much.

Headed to the local cinema now for an Avengers Double Feature.  The wait is finally (almost) over.

That is all kinds of awesome... I don't think I would leave and I'm an adult so that is kind of creepy.

Is it me or are there just too many story lines running concurrently? I knew it was bound to happen but every story is stretched so thin, it's hard to focus on anyone.

Also, I'm having a hard time remembering what I've read, what I haven't read, and what's happened so far  ;D. I've got about 1/3 of a Dance with Dragons to finish reading!

Glad it turned out to be the Wolves and not the Whisperers, as some had been speculating online. I'm not so sure this is _____'s gang though, I think these schmoes may be more akin to the Scavengers from the comics. Leaderless riff-raff who just move from place to place looting and killing. That was some crazy ass walker trap though!

Haven't read forward into the comics yet to know about the Wolves, Whisperer's and whoever is "blank" here.  I wonder though if the leader of the Wolves is the guy that Aaron was talking about with Darryl (Davidson if remember correctly?).  I can't see why they would have "named" him during that part of the discussion if he wasn't going to come back and haunt the Alexandrites.

I thoroughly enjoyed the finale last night.  I thought they tied up the stories nicely and set up the next wave for Season 6.  I was on the edge of my seats a few times wondering what was going to go down.   Didn't have to kill off a main character to keep me in suspense.

So, I'm guessing cleaned up dude is someone from the comics?  I haven't read I past when Abraham and his crew shows up.

If I had any say, I'd have them consider Leo Howard.  He's on Disney's Kickin' It (which my younger daughter loves).  He's legit young (17).  He's a martial artist. And he's got great charisma.

Ha! Never thought I'd see a "Kickin' it" reference here.  I could see him as a good fit though - I like the outside the box thinking.
