Completely agree.  I don't think it is popular and successful because it is rated R. I think it has been successful because it is a different animal than all the other comic book films.

Again and again, when the filmmakers respect the original creations there is success.  See all of the MCU films, and see the FF remake as the opposite evidence.

Ordered the AT-At and Snowspeeder 2-Pk from Amazon as well as finally adding the Rebels TIE Fighter.  That 2Pk was going for ~$5 on Amazon.

Found Rey's Speeder, black resistance X-wing with closed foils, and First Order Star Destroyer yesterday.

I grabbed three TFA books at Five Below yesterday...  All of them kids books, one was a look and find with BB-8 on the cover, there was a cardboard cut-out assembly book, and the Ships of the Galaxy book. All, of course, $5 or less.

The Force Awakens / Re: Where is Rey?

I can say that generally, my boy identifies with "boy" toys. He knows that the Barbies and Ponies are "girl" toys in the "girl" aisle.  We don't teach him this stuff, but I assume it is a mix of marketing, talking with friends and emulating my excitement over the things I like.  This is a regular topic of conversation around the house.

That said, he's got the Lego Rey Speeder and he loves it.  Would he love a Rey figure?  I dunno.  Rey isn't really a very feminine character compare to, say, Padme.

I found it at TRU.  My son loves the ships more than he does action figures, so I have gone overboard with these for him.   :)  It is tough finding information on what is out, what to expect, etc.  Hasbro collectors have it good.  :)

Anyone else collecting the Hot Wheels ships?  I bought my son the remaining ships he was missing for Christmas, and I just picked up the 2-pack with the Star Destroyer and Mon Cal frigate.  The only one that eludes me so far is the Rebels TIE which is in a 2-pack with the Ghost.  I even have the two versions of the snowspeeder (Luke's is packed in with a "playset").

The ships at the start of that clip are really awesome.

Oh - also - so this is the first SW movie without a limb being severed or an injury along those lines, right?

And did anyone catch any 1138s?

No limbs being cut off but two pretty significant impalements!

I thought for sure that Rey would take Ren's hand in the duel.  Set him further on the path to becoming Vader.

All excellent points.  I totally agree about the stuff on the cargo ship.  Entertaining, but extraneous.

Perhaps Von Sydow plays Kanan Jarrus?

Palpatine's holo was an enormous floating head in ESB...

They never elaborated on how that lightsaber ended up in that box.

My mind is still swimming with this movie.  Just awesome and completely heartbreaking.
