Did you walk in your Star Wars room and pick up a couple of action figures, and then leave and go back to your computer by chance?

Hey is this a trend-setting thread or what?

Unfortunately those people at the Sci-Fi channel center that skank from Battlestar Galactica in the middle.  However, there may be some good choices.

"Lets go to the Hop" - or something like that.  Oldies rock and roll, so mean and nasty.  LOL.  I like the harmonizing vocals on this.

I got a Transformation Willow at a comic book store last week, though they do enjoy a good markup.

Did everyone get a confirmation email from Cinequest when your order was shipped?  I'm still waiting on mine.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Are You a Star Wars Packrat?
« on: March 4, 2004, 12:18 PM »
I feel like I walked into a support group meeting......and I belong!

I have boxes and boxes of empty star wars stuff in the attic.  When i get figures, I either cut around the plastic with an X-acto blade, or cut in between the plastic and cardboard, slip the figure out, and leave the empty bubble intact on the card.  Then I pack 'em in boxes!  Why???????????'

I have some idea that they could be a future display project or some kind of art project.  ???    Those bubbles are just so neat that I could make some kind of meta-comment by repacking them with some object, and then someone would say its art.  ???  They would look cool if I ever wanted to arrange them in some pattern.   ???

I have no good reason and will have to face facts at some point - they belong in a landfill!

Saga '02-'04 / Re: How's Star Wars Selling in Your Area?
« on: March 4, 2004, 10:41 AM »
I think they are selling very well, depending on how much attention retailers can give them.

Target's number one.  After they clearanced everything away at the beginning of the year, I've seen the subsequent waves sell very well.  All I see hanging around is the Rebel Hoth trooper.  The animated figures series 1 and 2 are both starting to pile up though.

Wal-mart is the big question.  After a big drought, they got some repacks in, and then finally some of the Gold leader and Dodonna assortment, but then they all disappeared again.  I keep hoping they'll come through in the next few weeks.

TRU has been selling a decent assortment, with a few pegwarmers filling up space.

The deluxe stuff has been selling out frequently around here.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Last Time You Threw Up
« on: March 4, 2004, 09:31 AM »
Probably about 5 months ago.

The only time I throw up is when I have draft beer.  That stuff is poison to me.  I can drink beer from a bottle or can, and next day I'm good as new.  If I have like 3 draft beers, I wake up fine, then get a headache, then yak by midday!  I have this theory that I'm sensitive to special keg bugs, because you know they don't clean those things out before refilling them.

I typically go for a Guinness, but the doctor told me to cut down a bit of calorie-heavy things, so I'm on a Bud Light kick

*leaves thread embarassed* :)

You might be surpised to learn that Guiness has less calories or carbs or something than most average beers.  Maybe I should go back and re-read that WSJ article so I can learn myself what I mean.

I second that Sapporo!

That Knox was always a slimey bastard.  >:(

What a great episode!  Spike had some interesting lines, and sounded quite reflective.

I can't give up hope yet; I'm still sending postcards to lots of the addresses recommended. Even if they aren't actually read, its still fun, and may make a good pile of cards their assistants have to go through.

This show was fantastic.  IF one can get over the reimagining hump, this show was amazingly well done.  The acting, the pacing, the whole look of the show went way beyond my admittedly small expectations. I would love to see a series.

Thanks for the rundown apokolips.  I remember watching the show when I was a kid, but a lot of the details escape me.  I guess since I don't have a clear memory of the original, I'm not as bothered about all of the changes.

I don't think they made a big deal about changing the gender around and making women do different things.  I mean, they did it, but they didn't call attention to it directly, or try to make a statement.  They just had women in different positions.  I do miss Starbuck's attitude/character from the original though. Boxy is actually the kid in the new show.

Overall I thought they had a lot of great character development for the limited amount of time to introduce these new characters. Apollo and Adama's relationship, as well as Adama and Tigh's, was spelled out with minimal dialogue on Adama's part, but a lot of subtle expression.  The President was just well acted.

It was the action and pacing that I thought was hit dead on.  The tension of the flight crew trying to get the old vipers going, most of the nuclear destruction being off camera, the hectic pace of trying to make decisions when they didn't have much to go on, all great.  I loved the effects too.  The laser blast sounds and navigation from the vipers were excellent! I like the little things like those printouts they were always reading.  A nod back to the dot matrix printouts on the original show.  So dated now!

I would liked to have seen more "chrome toaster" cylons and less skankly lady cylons. And the twist at the end, nah, I could do without that.
