Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Tough Times at Hasbro

Hmmm... McFarlane Toys and Hasbro sign multi-brand licensing agreement.

Putting this in here because this seems to be happening more and more where Hasbro farms it's own IP out to other people for the figures/toys.  They did it with Funko stuff, and then with Super7 to do TF and GI Joe ReAction figures (and Super 7 will soon be doing 3.75" o-ring figures too).  Now they are doing something here with McFarlane and comics/page puncher stuff rather than try to do their own comic-pack type things.

I wonder if this is all part of the new strategy related to the layoffs.  Farm out the IP to let the other guys design and develop things targeted to kids or collectors and that puts less development time/cost on Hasbro, but they still get a piece of the action from the licensing.  Hasbro can focus on the core business of transforming robots and 6" Classified stuff and let the other guys chase the other lines/sizes.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 4” Epic Hero Series Figure Line

Have we heard if these are getting picked up by major retail (Target, Walmart)?

Jayson has some DPCI info in his mega-rumor list, so it seems these should be at retail to some degree.

My hopes for the Epic Heroes line lie with the potential for vehicles.  So let's wait and see what develops.

I'm hoping that we can finally get like a basic Blurrg or that wolf thing from Ahsoka or other things beyond just vehicles too with this new line.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2023 Last Figure Standing Poll

I feel like Baylan and Shin need to be a 2-pack. I don't really think I'd want one without the other, but I do want both. BUT, they are pretty beloved by the fanbase, so that felt like a throwaway vote since they're likely already in development.

As Skeezler said, I'm sure he along with Shin are already in the works.

This is what bugs me most about having Hasbro split things across 6" and 3.75" lines.  So much of the original top ten list (Shin, Baylan, Luthen, Asajj, Cobb) has already been done in Black Series 6" in the past couple years.

The "fan choice" ends up being an attempt to get something that BS6" already got and should be a no brainer for TVC.  Like seriously Hasbro, you've done TWO versions of Cobb Vanth in BS6", but can't get around to doing something in TVC yet?  How many years or polls is it going to take?

Hey TVC fans, I know you want Luthen and Marrok like BS6" got, but how would you like a photoreal repack of Finn and another version of Axe Woves instead?

(I know repacks/repaints are important for TVC price point, I'm just in the mood for an old man collector rant, I guess   :P).

I think Hammerhead is the impact of the "finish the 96" carded collectors who want a modern TVC equivalent of everything Kenner.  They don't care that there are multiple serviceable versions of Hammerhead out there, they want an all new TVC version so they can check off that box as 'done'.  That's the drive for new versions of Luke, Han, Leia, Obi-Wan as well (since the TVC carded people don't consider VOTC as TVC for some reason).

I'm with you guys in that all-new, never before made stuff brings me the most joy.  I do however admit that without the all the carded collectors buying things at 2-3 times the rate I buy as an opener, the line would likely die or be at $20 for a basic figure.

Is the "Galaxy of Heroes" reference for these figures to the mobile phone game?

Yep - these are based on the mobile game -> https://www.starwars.com/news/jedi-knight-revan-joins-galaxy-of-heroes

Pipelines for this era include:
[snip]
There might be others I've missed...

Along with the Enoch/Night Troopers pack, Ezra Bridger (Ahsoka) was also pipelined at London Comic Con -> https://youtu.be/O2vwaFqzLQQ?feature=shared&t=620

This one was hard to do.  Probably 75% of these should already have been done.

Agree.  Have to think about my list, but it's likely going to be full of figures that should have been no brainers for TVC already - Cobb, Peli, Baylon, Shin, etc.

They’re on Amazon now too.  Got a sponsor link Jeff?

Also sounds like June 1st, 2024 will be the date for them on Shop Disney.

I agree - VC45 was a nice upgrade at the time but those skinny legs? Yuck.

Looks like we are getting a new helmet sculpt on this set already.

Looking closer at the pics, these might not be new helmets, but whole new non-removable helmet-heads?  I don't think Hasbro has shown any pics of them sans helmets.

I’m passing unless someone can prove that Ahsoka Trooper is noticeably different than the one I bought single carded.

These are supposed to use the new VC269 clone sculpt (with what looks like a new helmet sculpt, as Ryan pointed out).  The VC248 Ahsoka Clone single carded release used the old VC45 clone sculpt.

VC45 sculpt is skinnier in the legs, has a different codpiece/waist, and it looks like the new one has slightly better paint apps, though it's always unsure how the final production stuff will look.

I can't tell... I got the link from Hasbro PR.

The listed price of $24.99 makes me think there is some kind of error going on but with Target, who knows...

I'm glad to see this one is still $54.99 at Pulse and EE.  I liked it better when these were in the $40-45 range, but I will take $55 over $60 like Tusken and Imp Officer sets were.
