Episode 1 / Re: What's your favorite vehicle?
« on: October 1, 2004, 01:30 AM »
While maybe not technically being "vehicles" 2 of my fav pieces were the small catapult and  flash cannon.  Small very inexpensive peices, nicely packaged, nice push button light up features.  Yeah, looking back, theese were kinda cool and usually forgotten pieces.

For anyone in the Pgh. area:

The December show will be the first weekend in Dec. as always.  Dec. 4-5, 2005. Only about 2 months away.

Jesse and I had a pretty good time at the last one.  Any questions, feel free to email me  bobafett.fourteen@verizon.net.  Usually some good SW finds, and usually get together w/the PA SW Collecting Society, and we almost always end up dragging our butts to Hooters at some point (usually Sat. afternoon/eve.)

Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: Star Wars Celebration 3
« on: October 1, 2004, 01:15 AM »
I kinda lucked out for registration, I logged on just before 6PM 1st day(thinking the first few hrs. would be useless), and it took me about 15min.  Although I had my gencon password etc., also only needed to order tix. (and the topper thing, so I bypassed a few steps.  Was really feeling lucky after hitting all the boards and seeing all the problems everyone was having.

Also, I had booked a suite at the Hampton Inn back in April 2004(2 bedroom suite, living room area, bar, kitchen, etc. etc. for a whopping $134!!!!! I'm a Diamond/VIP member w/the Hilton group which kinda helped. ;^)

I'm planning on bashing at least one night (prob Thurs. or Fri-maybe both..who knows) anyhow I've been talking about this at ww.pswcs.com and also our local Pgh group www.thejawa.net/pitswcc for a while now.

Not gonna speak for Jesse, but I'm  guessing he'll be joining in on the festivities at some point ;^)

Anyhow, I'll probably post more as we get closer to CIII,(we had fun last time-heh, ran out of cups and had to drink margaritas out of styrofoam hotel cups ewww, blender got a workout that night)

Can't wait!  It's gonna be a blast!

I don't know what you're talking about either  :P

Not that I'm from New Orleans or anything.... 'cause I'm not. Is it a "bootleg" poster of some sort (I'm guessing it is)?

No it's not a licensed poster-Yoda kinda has a drunk look on his face, he's sitting on a Bourbon St. street sign.  There's a pic somewhere on gus's site, I know there were only a few hundred prints made, and last time I saw it a long time ago on ebay I think it went into the thousands.  Kind of my weird holy grail over the last year or so. I have to investigate furthur, as I don't know the number run, and what to look for for fakes and all, for the $$$ for this I wouldn't want to get a cheap copy or anything.  Definately don;t want to spend that kind of $$$ on eaby, I'd like to try and get one from a reputable source.   This is gonna be a tough one.

By the way, anyone that sees the SW/Mardi Gras poster of Yoda sitting on the Bourbon St. street sign.  PLeeeeaaaassseee email me a link, or let me know, I really really really want this poster, and I know it's not cheap.

I've been to New Orleans different times, and stop in a lot of the poster stores but no one knows what I'm talking about.

I know it's a tough find, so  any help would be appreciated.

I'm on as bobafett14 (pretty creative huh?)

Some tips(mine anyhow, as I'm sure everyone has thier own):

My fav character is the jetpack Trooper, has a missle launcher and grenades.

Vehicles are a must-you can rack up 30-40+ kills a game easy in the larger vehicles.  Much harder to do as a single trooper.  Also the jetpack trooper helps here becuse if you start a game and 10 others spawn with you, you can fly over them and get to a nearby vehicle quickly.

Get to know the spawn points-I just jumped into an AAT on Tatooine, sat in front of a spawn point and racked up like 42 kills in about 2 min.  Not a lot of fun (and I'm sure they'll have to change this-I was on the opposite side where I tried to spawn and was killed everytime by those camping out-litereally got killed like 10 times without taking a step, and never got to play

X-Wing/Tie/starfighter are kinda difficult to control and honestly to me(while fun to fly) aren't worth getting into especially with the cramped quaters in a very small playfield.

Droidekas are REALLY fun to roll around in, and hard to kill, grenades seem to disable the shields.

Right now I;m having lots of fun on the higher rooftops, setting the sights to first person and sniping, lots haven't caught on yet that they also need to look up ;^) easy way to rack up some points.

See Vader, or Luke or Mace.....just pull a monty python and   RUN AWAY!

FAV planets: Hoth and the kashhyyk Docks-I like the wide openess.  Least Fav-Rhenn Var temple-tight quarters too tight for as many people that are crammed in there battleing.

The patch they had for the PS2 seemed to have helped.  I don;t have the severe lag I did the other night, and now I can at least get on during peak hrs.

WOW my head is spinning, so freaking much going on in this game.

Now that the lag and server screw ups seem to be somewhat fixed (I hope):

The vehicles (x-wing/TIE) totally suck and very hard to control
The vehicles(tanks/speeders/spider/AT-ST) very cool, fun to demolish stuff
The vehicle(AT-AT) if you buy this game for no other reason this is the reason-totally awesome.

Mostly been playing with all the dif characters.  My fav are  the missle launching guys.  The droideka is REALLY fun to roll around in-but takes a few tries to get used to the controls.  I still can;t figure how to get the jetpacks working on the clones(I think you;re supposed to be able to use it on the green trooper)

I suck, I think I kill more of my own guys than anything (and myself-cliff jumping on Rhenn Varr)

Fav boards-Hoth and Kasshyyk Docks

Least Fav-Rhenn Varr-I get lost

Only thing I don't like is there seems to be less strategy than in a SOCOM game, more just run around and shoot stuff

Thing I do like.....running around and shooting stuff. ;^)

See you online and in my sights!  (and Scoundrel-I think I saw you running around once before I got booted offline.

What are you guys finding on prices for the rares/VR's (outside of the outrageous ebay prices)???

Curious, a comic store in PA sold me a Bossk, Dengar, and Veers, for $2ea. which I thought was great!  (I actually threw a few $$ in extra)

Here's my recap so far:
Just curious.  I bought 9 boosters, in which I have NO doubles of R/VR.
Probe Droid
Dewback
Slave Leia
Emperor
Obi-Wan
R2
Bossk  (bought an extra Bossk to use as a prize at one of my meetings)
Greedo
Lando

I'd like to just try to find the other r/vr and buy outright, to me spending the $13 ea. pack now is pointless since I have ALL the common/uncommon in the 9 boosters I bought.

Man just hrs. to go.

To me this is probably one of the best times for SW in the last 10 yrs.  Ranks pretty close to the movie premiers and Celebrations.  DVD's, SW miniatures, all kinds of mdse. roll-outs, and Battlefronts.

I took the day off just to veg and enjoy it all.

I'll be on PS2 as well, under bobafett14.

Hey quick question....I tried the demo disc from PS@ magazine, not only does it not work but for whatever reason, now when I tried to play SOCOM last night I log on but keep getting kicked offline about every 2-3minutes.  I get about half way through the first game and then all the guys just start running in place and it boots me back to the main menu.

I have a wireless router, and have  had no problems up until just last night.  Could the demo disc have screwed something up? was my cable just lagging last night?? what else could it be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  For the love of god I just want the system up and running when Battlefronts hits next week.

Got 2 more boosters todya, out of 5 boosters now I have:

1 extra rare Emperor
1 extra rare Stormtrooper on Dewback
1 extra rare Probe droid
1 rare Lando
1 rare Bossk

not too shabby.  The uncommons and commons were split up pretty good, have a large amount of those with fairly few doubles.

Hmmmm, I may break down and buy a few more boosters, if I get any doubles on the rares, try and trade them for others I need, then maybe break down and try and buy some individually if I can luck out and get some rares under $10ea.

My thoughts are once you get a few boosters you'll just start getting the same crap over and over.

Even at only 60 characters, this could get ugly...fast. and they have another clone set coming out shortly after. Sheesh.

My staff on the Ithorian scout is also severely bent.  Probably gonna be a common problem.  I know it's like that even with the petwer line -most of the lightsabers ship bent or even broken.  Hard to keep somehting so thin in perfect shape.

I saw pics of the wookie soldier with some kind of stick/spear in his right hand, mine doensn't have it?  anyone else or am I just losing it?
