If you guys didn't already know, the registration is up.

And, I'm registered!  All signed up for the General's Package, which is the 12" set, and the movie ticket to Retaliation for Friday night.

Wow.  Those are some steep pre-recs for that system.  I know people that don't have broadband Internet at home and some that live in areas where they can't get it, but have consoles.  The fact that they won't allow used games is the real negative, though.

We have a game library that we lend to patrons, that won't be doable with this next gen system and even Game Stop allows employees to borrow games to play to help keep them current...that'll be out also.

It seems like Microsoft checked all the boxes for why not to buy their new system.  Next we'll here that there won't be any backward compatibility.

That's an interesting twist.  Funny how Perry White is now Black as well.

I just can't imagine Lawrence Fishburne playing high-strung.

I used to be a big fan of his, but ever since his stint on CSI, I'm not looking forward to seeing him in anything anymore.  He was creepy enough in Predators but, eh.

Don't really care with what they do with Jimmy/Jenny Olsen...why not cast the role for a woman?

I'm almost not looking forward to this movie beause it's just another origin film, it's looking like they went all dark and gritty and....I don't know, I just don't care.

I know Hit & Run probably isn't what most wanted but I think he looks pretty good.  Seems like they chose some good parts for him.  Spearhead isn't bad and I think they picked some good parts for Repeater...love that gun.  The Joes are all pretty solid (I'm cool on Charbroil though).

And I dig the female characters so I'm liking Crimson ASP.  I'm not feeling the other Cobra characters, though.  Letal, especially, is just way too green and out there for me.

It's hard to decide if I want to spring $360 for this set when I really probably only want 4 of the figures.  And since I'd be getting the boxed set, it's not like I'm going to split them up.  Besides, I don't know if the figs I dislike would even generate enough interest to make it worth selling.

I'm still waiting to see the 12" set...they better post that before the registration goes live because I'm not buying, or passing on, a set that I haven't seen.

On the plus side, if the artwork that HissTank pointed out the other day is right, we'll probably see a female Joe pilot as a souvenir.

I'm not as excited about this set as I was last year with the Oktober Guard.  I'm waiting to see what they have in the 12" set before I make a final decision.

Brian, check your PMs, LMK if you're still looking for that Hagrid's Hut set.  Found one at B&N this weekend.

Also picked up a couple more bagged minifigs from Series 7, and finally pulled Little Red, which I'd been looking for.  Also picked up a Dino set to burn off some Rewards Points I had.

Found the Series 1 Star Wars Planet sets for $2.98 at Target and picked up a couple for my buddy and also grabbed a couple Police bagged sets from the checkout lane.

Add to that a 4425 Car and Caravan set that I found at my Target last week.  Think it was $9-something on clearance.

Joe Defender / Re: Adventure Team - 3.75"
« on: January 21, 2013, 07:01 PM »
When the Club had their sale at the end of 2012, I finally ordered up the Air and Sea Adventurer sets.  Got around to opening them today and they're pretty good sets.  I like the Helicopter from the AA set, it has some cool features and is a good size.

I was more impressed with the Mini-Sub from the Sea Adventurer set.  I never owned the Mantis vehicle but it's got plenty of action features, it's quite large, and it holds the 25th/30th figures really well.  I'm pretty happy to have them and they complete my set.

I also have an extra Land Adventurer w/ 6 Wheel ATV set but I don't need another so was wondering if anyone here wanted it before I took it to eBay?  PM me if interested.

Looks like I'm going to be going to the Con this year.  Now, have to decide which package I'm going to get.  First thought is that I like the sounds of the 3.75" set the best but the 12" set may be the better deal.

Probably going to have to see if anyone wants to split a boxed/bagged set like last year.

Still, the set sounds good and I'm really excited to be going again.

I stopped in B&N tonight and all they had were three of the Forbidden Forrest sets.  But, I checked Vestal and Elmira, they both list Hagrid's Hut in stock.  I'm probably going to be in Elmira over MLK weekend as long as the weather isn't bad.  If it's still around I could pick it up.

Good thought.  I'll check my B&N, I know they had some stuff but I haven't been in there in a couple of weeks.

I don't think I've seen Hagrid's Hut in a while.  It was a really popular set and sold out at most stores around here pretty quickly and wasn't stocked again.  Stores like Target carried the Castle, Bust and two small battle pack sets longer.  WM had it longer but not much.

I'm trying to recall if I saw any Potter sets last weekend when I was out but I think the only set I saw was a Quidditch set somewhere...maybe KMart.

If you have any out of the way Walmart or KMart stores it may be worth a drive to check them out.

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2013: What Are You Collecting?
« on: January 5, 2013, 12:36 AM »
I really feel like bagging it all but I probably won't.  I somehow convinced myself over the last two weeks that buying discount Lego sets was a good idea...  I'm such a sucker.

Star Wars - Yeah.  I'll be buying SW stuff this year, even if I don't know exactly what it'll be.  I'm thinking if there's going to be nothing new until late in the year maybe I'll spend some cash on some AT-AT Driver and Republic Gunship items I've been waiting on.  There are a couple Class I vehicles I'll pick up and maybe a Class II, and there is a new Republic Gunship coming from Lego later in the year.

G.I. Joe - There are a couple movie figures I want, if they get released, but I'm definitely not buying the whole line.  There's maybe 5 or so that I'm really interested in and one vehicle.  But, I may be going to the GI Joe convention this year and if I do I'll be in for one of the packages and probably some souvenirs along with anything else I find at the show.  If they do another SDCC exclusive of the TF/Joe crossover nature I might be in for that also.

Lego - I bought some discount sets over the last couple of weeks but other than that Gunship later this year, the blind bagged minifigs and some SW pollybag sets, I'm probably out of this line now that Harry Potter is done.

Everything Else - I've picked up a few Transformers recently and may grab one or two more, but that's a 1 here, 1 there type deal.  I'll leave room for the odd Hot Wheels TV/Movie vehicle and I'll probably pick up a couple more Glyos figures.  I have a Hot Toys Iron Man figure coming and I won't say no if they bring some other character that I find I can't do without.

Overall, I'm hoping to spend a lot less money on toys this year.  Of course, I say that every year.

That's an interesting idea on Shelob, makes sense to me.  Good thing is that it's easy to take off and doesn't hurt the overall design one way or the other.  I think that's cool that they explained the reasoning for it though.

Droid Factory 2013 / Re: 2013 Legacy Collection Rumors
« on: January 4, 2013, 07:53 PM »
I think I posted this over there also, maybe here, but I don't think the Disney purchase is part of it either.  It just doesn't seem to add up.  Hasbro showed off the new line in August at CVI so it had to have already been approved and was in some stage of production.

The Disney announcement was on October 30th and the FCC approved the sale on December 4th with the purchase not being completed until December 21st.  In order to believe Disney put a stop to Droid Factory, you’d have to assume that Hasbro put on hold their production and waited to see if the Disney purchase actually went through.  Would a company do that?  Put that kind of money on the line when it could be possible the sale didn’t go through for some reason?

It just seems like it has to be more simple than that.  I don’t know when Hasbro knew that AOTC and ROTS 3D releases were both coming in 2013 and not until the Fall, but I’m thinking when they heard that it gave them the chance to carry over all that unsold Vintage Collection stock into 2013 and push off the Droid Factory release, the first wave of which looked like it was solely made to support AOTC in the Spring.

Whether we get the OT in 3D next year or not, with a new movie slated for 2015, releasing the figures shown, but not the Build-a-Droid pieces, might make more sense also.  They could do more re-packs and re-paints for late 2013 and 2014 in order to spend more time on the new film coming.  I wouldn’t even be totally shocked to see the Movie Heroes/Legends line become the only line for later this year and next, after the 2012 VC cases sell through.  Then they’d just have to worry about that and the tiny Clone Wars line instead of having 3.

I guess we’ll know more next month.

I finally watched this movie again the other day.  I think on second viewing I picked up a lot of things I missed when seeing it at the theater.  It actually helped me enjoy most of it more than I originally did, but I still think the end is completely messed up.  And I'm still baffled about the time spend to build up JGL's part when we'll probably never see him again.

Eh.  As a trilogy, it's a solid outting, much better than a lot of other franchises have managed (eg Spider-Man, X-Men).  So, I take back some of the bashing I handed it, but not all.
