Star Wars - The Next 10 Years according to Lucasfilm
« on: November 2, 2017, 09:19 AM »
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy sat down for an interview on THE STAR WARS SHOW to discuss current projects and the future of the franchise.

When asked about Star Wars Rebels Kennedy hinted that "people are moving on to new things", which may line up with rumors that series EP Dave Filoni has been working on developing a new animated Star Wars tv series.

Kennedy also revealed that Lucasfilm "is looking at the next 10 years of Star Wars stories" and where the sequel trilogy characters like Rey, Finn, Poe and BB-8 might be beyond the events of Episode IX.  The interview covered a number of different story telling platforms, from virtual reality, to Star Wars in Disney theme parks and video games, and how the Star Wars story group is working to present it all in a cohesive fashion.

We've had over a decade of Marvel films and that's turned out pretty well so far.
This is the way.

So the are keeping with the Christmas releases...pretty smart since Marvel Owns the summers now.

I'm guessing these next three movies are the three from the GoT show runners?

I wonder if the Rian Johnson trilogy will be on the 21/23/25 or 23/25/27 years?

I wonder if the Rian Wilson trilogy will be on the 21/23/25 or 23/25/27 years?

Disney also announced updated dates for Avatar -
12/17/21 Avatar 2
12/22/23 Avatar 3
12/17/25 Avatar 4
12/19/27 Avatar 5

Disney did not confirm what all those Star Wars movies will actually be - They could be a combo of stand-alone or the GOT Guys/Rian Johnson projects.

Knowing Disney and JJ, they will be remakes of the prequels.

I still can’t sit through the first Avatar even.  I did clean up on getting their mechs on clearance though.  Those are kinda snazzy for custom mech fodder. 🤔

Don't forget we're getting The Mandalorian, The Cassian Andor Series and a bunch of other stuff on Disney+.  Plenty of new Star Wars for us!

+1.  When people started expressing surprise about how long it would be until the next theatrical release I couldn't help but think that the focus was going to be on the television projects.  Resistance is already established and running on the Disney Channel.  The Mandalorian debuts this fall.  And after that there's the return of Clone Wars for a final season and the Cassian Andor series.  There's plenty of Star Wars in the pipeline in terms of new entertainment.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but it's getting me thinking....

The Russo Brothers were on The Star Wars Show this week.  Did they just happen to be in San Francisco this week?  Or were they perhaps taking meetings at Lucasfilm about a possible project?

The Russo Brothers are on a #WeLoveYou3000 PR tour for the Avengers: Endgame DVD/Bluray/In-Home Release.

It started at SDCC and ends next weekend at D23 in Anaheim.  The Disney PR machine probably worked out the LFL stop while they were in SF on 8/8 for the Giants game (or at least that is how they would spin it if they needed a cover story for meeting with LFL about Star Wars #conspiracytheory  ;)).

Coming off a 4 movie run like The Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame, the Russo brothers are probably among the most sought after directors for big tentpole movies.  And since they're already in the Disney fold because of their work with Marvel Studios?  You can't help but think that they might find Star Wars to be a great challenge for their next project.

The star wars fans/trolls would probably hate it even if it was the Russo brothers.
