Other Toy Lines / Re: Transformers

You know fellas, pics of the new stuff would be great... Or at least links.

In the last few years whenever TF came around you could find pics a plenty. This is the first year I'm having trouble finding pics of the new stuff.

Not just SW, but TF, Halo, LEGO, etc.

All I'm asking is that if you're going to mention something from TF, could you provide a link to a pic (since you've obviously seen it), so the rest of us can ooh and ahh over it and contribute to the thread.

Most appreciated. (Oh and this was just posed as a question, no malice or ill will-I know it can be hard to read into peoples words on the net, and I didn't want you guys to think I was trying to be a jerk asking for pics or inks.)

What is that Galactus thing? Is it a game or a big ass figure in a box?

Big ass figure.  They showed it off at SDCC last year.  I want to say it's 19" tall...?

Sweet, that's even bigger that the Galactus that was a Build-A-Figure in the Legends line.  I finally saw pics of it. Nice.

I"m going to get this, but I'd have been happy if the head could only fit 4 figures and be more in scale with the rest of the body. This AT-AT did not need a speederbike (and the crappy old mold to boot). All that did was inflate the price even more, though $99 is a good price for this.

I'd have rather the actual AT-AT been bigger or the head smaller to seem more in scale.

What I'd love to see now is a comp shot with the new snowspeeder underfoot of it, ala the scene in ESB. You'd think Hasbro would have done that. Oh but wait, maybe that's still not in scale either...

Just have to wait and see now.

Like I said, I'm getting this, but only 1. Before Toy Fair I was entertaining the notion of up to 3 of them. That notion is gone.

I'm down for one or two of this sets. Thanks for posting the pics.

I still haven't seen the complete Hasbro slide presentation yet.

I was curious how many people would be going "carded/loose" again with this line.

I've been carded since I started in 01, but HATED the newer Legacy cards, so I cracked a wave open, but felt awful so I'm on track especially since we're going back to vintage packaging.  I'm sure there's a bunch of openers that will stray back, but who knows.

I won't buy a set to keep carded, however I will CAREFULLY remove the bubble form the card so I have as pristine card as possible with the bubble off of it. Then I can easily put it into a slip cover and into a book. (I've done this with the last several card designs, so it's nothing new for me.) I just can't justify the cost and reasoning to keep stuff carded now. Of all my collection I'd guess less than 7-10 is carded/boxed.

With the new Power Core Combiners - do the drones that come with the Scout figure in the 5-packs also transform into robots or are they only vehicles or larger robot limbs?

They are only vehicles or limbs, they don't transform to robots. However, they are interchangeable with all of the other Power Core Combiners, so you can mix and match as you see fit.

I want to see some pics of these though... Not sure if I'll buy into this subline.

Looks like we finally have an answer here... Visionaries Maul and a new "old" Uncle Owen.  Looked like he re-uses the AotC Owen sculpt with a new head and a new paint job.

Pics PLEASE! Or at least a link. Many people are talking about all this new stuff, but I don't see pics or links. I can't seem to find it on the homepage...

I agree. That Naboo Skiff is OUTSTANDING. And maybe we'll be seeing that Anakin figure's body reused for generic Naboo soldiers in the future.

And it's great to see we'll be getting a Cad Bane with knee articulation.

Wow. This is gonna be an expensive year. :-\

Where is this skiff and slide show? Can't find a link.

The following is a paraphrased quote from a forumite here who is at Toy Fair. I didn't want to give his name in case he didn't want to be named so here's just the info form ToyFair:

Quote
The AT-AT and two other OT vehicles will be available in Kenner style vintage packaging at TRU while the general release will have the new blue, cloudy Captain Rex packaging. Only the packaging is exclusive.

The MSRP on the vintage line will be $7.99 while the Clone Wars and Legends will carry a $6.99 MSRP. The new Galactic Battle Game will come with Clone Wars and Saga Legends figures.

You may be happy to know that it looks like we're getting a Mando Guard in the CW line as well as Aurra Sing, new Grievous and Battle Droids. Cad Bane on his speeder. Looks like abou 31 figures in the CW line this year.

Confirmation on the Mandolorian with speeder bike in the Deluxe line. New Interceptor Tank. The Hailfire Droid I in the R/C line, comes with a figure and missiles you can launch from the remote. Also, Battle Packs for CW, one of which supports the Hailfire droid.

The ESB Han solo has been confirmed as the "welding" version, where he appears on the Falcon with Chewie on Hoth. New Hoth Leia coming along with others we've already seen; Luke, Dengar and AT-AT Commander. New C-3PO on his was as well as Dak and Cloud Car pilot which Hasbro confirmed last week in a Q&A.

The Rocket Firing Fett will have J-slot and a small missle with a longer launching version. Classic 5 points of articulation and paint apps like Kenner. 5 POPs for the offer.

Galactic Heroes line will have an AT-AT also. New GH figs will include some from the EU like Republic Commandos.

The Teek figure we saw this week will be in a Disney exclusive Star Tours boarding set.

Confirmation on the Camie and Fixer comic pack for Celebration V exclusive. Also, 4-LOM and Zuckuss.
Darth Maul and Owen Lars are SDCC exclusives.

Great, so higher price for collector figures, yet the CW gets a game piece and costs less. Go figure. I suppose it's because Hasbro will produce less figures for the vintage line so this is their way of making up the difference.

I'm not buying these for the card style. I just can't justify that anymore. If these are new figures great, I'll get them, but if they are just repacks then it's a pass for me. If it's a slight repaint then it's a pass, if it's a slight upgrade in articulation, it's a pass.

Anyone else feel like they are being burned by the higher price of the vintage line?

Hopefully the majority of the figures will be all new and warrant a purchase from us, otherwise I don't really see the point. They'll just keep driving away we long time fans. So be it then.

From RS user JarJarBinks:

I want them all plus multiples of the AIM soldiers.

Sweet. but who is the skinny yellow dude and who is the green dudes with the Iron Man figs? Titanium Man maybe for one of them, but who is the other.

Rregardless, I'll likely get them, if I can find them.

I did find some of the new Iron Man 2 figs. Got Iron Man (comic series red/yellow), Stealth Iron Man (comic series), First Appearance Iron Man, Crimson Dynamo.

Oh and I wasn't waiting on anything, I only just got a look at the link and immediately went to it, but the stuff sold out that quickly. It's popular. Dang, I wish my local Wal*Mart would send their 4 cases of old car back! No wonder I can't find the new stuff. The carp is clogging up the pegs like a port-a-potty at an amusement park! It stinks! lol

Damn, all but Luke Cage and the newer Iron Man are sold out.

I still need the four from the previous wave, now this wave as well...

I did manage to nab to comic packs on HTS a couple of days ago. They should be on route to me in a few days.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Drop in Collector Interest/Figures?
« on: February 8, 2010, 06:08 PM »
Legends would not be that bad if they repacked some new figure like:

Evo Maul
2 Part Helmet Vader
Resurgence Luke
Tin Pack Chewbacca in non snow deco
Dewback Sandtrooper
Dewback Sandtrooper as a plain Stormtrooper
Geo Kit Fisto
Evo Emporer
Evo Qui-Gon
Utupau Trooper with darker orange color
Clone Pilot

They can repack some of the best broad appeal figures that would sell and get many collectors to buy more of. Instead we get a 90's Maul with worse deco than before, Sae See Tinn again, Plo Koon when the new one is out at the same time, the 2006 Sandtrooper, 2001 Bespin Han. Legends would not be that bad if they reshuffled the mix more often. I am fine with repacks or having core characters just have the better versions of them. I would buy so much more for custom purposes alone.

I'd agree with most of those choice Jack, but not Fisto. He;s just not a main character. Likewise, Qui-gon is so far removed from the movies and isn't in the cartoon. And I'm really tired of Sandtroopers. We've plenty of those over the last year or two. Army builders yes, but very specific ones. Regular Stormtroopers I can understand. As to Vader, while he should be out there, he should be limited. Look what happened a couple of years ago when we had a plethora of Vader out there.

While I bought a ton of the Utapau trooper, and I'm assuming you mean the ROTS version and not the CW phase 1 armor, again, it's rather scene specific. Also, it's from a movie and not the "more popular cartoon."

Frontline main characters should have some presence in the Legends line, so to main army builders. Secondary characters not so much in fact nearly not at all. Secondary army builder a little. Tertiary characters and troopers forget about it.

I stilll think the Legend sline has to end. I understand Hasbro's want for it, but I think it's been mismanaged and yes, it's help in collector drop off and disinterest.

Now here's the funny thing about that statement, which is basically what Hasbro is saying.

If kids and casual buyers are the main focus, then why even blame we collectors at all. In fact shouldn't it be the kids they blame for buying trends? You know they won't do that. And if it's we collectors who are being blamed and subsequently are seeming to be the driving force in the Legacy line, then we've caught Hasbro in their own lie that they've tried to cover up. Fact is we ARE important to then for sales, otherwise they would just drop the realistic line altogether.

As JediJman astutely showed, Hasbro cannot afford to give up the third line, be it Legends or Realistic, less they give away precious peg and shelf space.

They created the Legends line for more profit per figure since virtually no tool and dye was needed. So cost of figure was less and it isn't as bad when they don't sell because they supposedly have a much higher profit margin per figure than the Legacy line.

I defy anyone to say that they have a flood of Legacy figures on the shelf though that aren't moving. Yes, maybe an occasional figure, but not from the black topped new cards. Those are practically nonexistent. Just read here on JD or any number of other collecting sites. But take that analogy to Legends and you see we're swimming in figures.

Hasbro SCREWED up. Not we collectors.

Hasrbo MUST lower the production numbers for Legends while increasing numbers for Legacy (soon to be Vintage).

Sorry for the rant, I'm just getting tired of the argument, especially from Hasbro.

Okay so here's what I did to combat the short, squat, too-muscular Reed Richards that we got with the Ultron 2-pack.  I snapped his head off and put it on a Johnny Torch body.

IMO, the head likeness isn't perfect either, but it sure as hell looks a lot better on a Torch body.  Here's Reed with his fellow 3 3/4" buddies:...

Excellent. Now if I can  find another Torch fig for this easy custom.

Sal - I think we are in agreement more than you realize.

...There just is no need for the Legends line to exist. NONE.

I'll agree with you on this one point for sure, but not in the execution of it. I want Legends gone for good, not another line, and definitely not mixed into the "vintage" line.

But alas, I know we need to have "core" characters on the pegs. That's part of the problem though. Hasbro's character choice of who/what makes a core character is downright dreadful at times. Don't get me wrong, I love the character of Plo Koon, but a core character he does NOT make.
