Here are the vote tallies for the semi-finals:

Luthen Rael - 662
Arleil Schous - 484
Baze Malbus - 478
Kleya Marki -476

That vote spread between 2nd, 3rd and 4th place was ridiculously narrow!  But I'm glad to see that Luthen was the clear favorite here.  And I'm hoping that carries through to the finals.

The finalists - Luthen Rael VS Arleil Schous

I don't think I ever saw images of those, but I have a folder of unmade things that were shown... you don't happen to have photos of those two do you?  Might be a fun thread to start...

Here is the 2nd Utai guy (from RS SDCC coverage in 2009 I think) - should have been a running change like the TLC Ugnaught but never got released -

And the Funeral Pyre Vader goes back to 2009 as well - https://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=19533.0

Hasbro showed it to some Fan Sites to ask what they thought but then it never got LFL approval as I understand it.

That particular SDCC was pretty epic!  I was there, and either I or Chuck (jta) took that image of the Funeral Pyre Vader while Derryl DePriest was pitching it.  He said that this was an out of the ordinary way for them to pitch something new by going to the fans before getting licensor approval.  So they brought it to SDCC to gauge feedback from fans.  I'm guessing someone at Lucasfilm Licensing might not have been sold on the concept of the Funeral Pyre Vader, so Derryl opted to go this route.  And unfortunately it did not get approved.  And looking back now?  It would have been pretty relavent to The Force Awakens.

Curto got photos of the figures on Preview Night before the case was fully laid out.  I remember being able to walk around the floor before the doors opened because we had press badges.  The running change figures got hidden away before the floor opened.  I can't recall if both Bespin guards were there.  But you can see both Ugnaughts, and both Utai.  IIRC, there were also both of the Imperial Scanning Troopers, too.  Gradually, they were all released over the next few years - the second Scanning Trooper took the longest.  But the second Utai is still MIA.

a character who was effectively stricken from the Special Edition of ANH

Nit-pick - Arleil Schous is still in ANH, clearly visible to the left of Hem Dazon's head in the opening Cantina shot.

The other wolfman, Lak Sivrak, is the one who got replaced in the ANH SE. :)

I know Arleil Schous remains in the background of that opening shot of Hem Dazon - he's sitting with Bom Vimdim.  But there was a second, individual shot of Arleil Schous in the theatrical release - it's a single shot, and Arleil has the glowing red eyes and takes a drink.  I think that shot was the one replaced with the shot of Melas.  Lak Sivrak was in the 2-shot with Dice Ibegon, and replaced by Ketwol.

Just a general question for all involved here:

Does anyone think there would be anywhere near the level of interest for Arleil Schous if not for being the one failed tier in the Cantina Haslab?  And does that mean a character who was effectively stricken from the Special Edition of ANH should be made as a TVC figure just because of collector FOMO?

I just cast my votes in Round 2:

Baze Malbus
Luthen Rael
Kleya Marki

While I had voted for C-3PO earlier?  I think making a statement in support of Kleya is important.  Her character really came to the forefront in season 2 of ANDOR, and Elizabeth Dulau crushed it!  And if Hasbro is going to make Luthen?  They need to make Kleya.

The Jedi Master Dooku from TALES OF THE JEDI has been on my wants list ever since that show aired.  Hell, I even wanted a Jedi Master Dooku when all we had to go on about his past was an illustration of him and Syfo Dias!  I wonder if character offerings like these are a way of luring some fans back towards the Black Series?  Because Dooku and the Seventh Sister might have accomplished that.

I figured we might get a re-release of that Maul in advance of the new animated series that's coming next year.  However, I agree about the Vader - it's boring and predictable. But then that's been the pattern with almost every figure that's been released in the 3-packs since those sets were re-introduced into the line.

Here are the TVC figures revealed in London today that will be joining Padme Amidala (AOTC) and Shaak Ti in the first wave of 2026:

-The Stranger (Qimir)
-Darth Vader (Emperor's Wrath) - re-release of the figure from the Journey of Anakin Skywalker 3-pack
-Maul - VC201 re-release on a MAUL - SHADOW LORD cardback

The rankings are in after the first round of voting.  The Top 6 advance, and the bottom 6 were eliminated.  Here are the results:

ADVANCING TO THE NEXT ROUND:
Luthen Rael - 930
Arleil Schous - 868
Saw Gerrera - 815
Baze Malbus - 803
C-3PO - 769
Kleya Marki - 742

ELIMINATED
Sim Aloo - 732
Chancellor Palpatine (Jedi Arrest) - 732
Pong Krell - 690
Qimir (The Stranger) - 675
Wrecker - 668
Peli Motto - 582

The next round of voting has people picking their Top Three!

I've got to say I'm happy with the results, but disappointed that Palpatine didn't advance.

Thanks for the heads up!  I hit a couple of ROSS stores last week trying to find this and the Moff Gideon's Imperial Light Cruiser playset, but no luck.

I heard a number kicked around recently about the possibility of a TVC figure dream pack as a Haslab.  And the cost per figure that I heard floated was around $35.  I don't know if that's something that I could get behind.

There are some big vehicles that I think could stand a chance, but in some cases I think they might need entertainment support.

CLONE WARS - The Twilight freighter with figures from the Clone Wars movie - Anakin, Ahsoka, Rotta, Medical droid, Rex, etc.

AHSOKA - T-6 shuttle with figures - Ahsoka in space suit; Sabine in training gear; Anakin hologram

ROTJ - Lambda class shuttle with Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke, Leia

SOLO - Lando's Falcon - figures tbd

KOTOR (serious longshot unless the game reboot is a big hit) - Ebon Hawk with Revan, Carth Onassi, T3-M4

Hmmmm...

Jayson had at least half a dozen named characters on the TVC rumor list before.  But the list has been re-done recently, and those character names are gone.  Some of those characters had recently turned up in The Black Series, and I'm wondering if they might have been a case of mistaken identity?  I had been hoping that they might be among the announcements coming soon, but I guess we have to wait and see.
