Kubricks / Re: So is Medicom killing the Kubrick Star Wars line...???
« on: February 17, 2013, 06:20 PM »
Earlier this month I made mention at kubricknation that the Winter Wonder Festival 2013 was set for 10th Feb and no sign of of a carded exclusive.

Each WonderFest (both Summer and Winter) has had a carded exclusive Star Wars kub for the last 3 years but there was nothing this Fest, which has obviously now come and gone.

I did a search around the blogs for photos of Medicom's booth but the best I could come up with was from Medicom's own site:

Not exactly the best pictures but it's my impression there were no kubricks shown. Usually you can capture a glimpse of them (as well as the be@rbricks) in front of or behind the RAH's on their respective blogs and forums.

BBTS also has all the WonderFest 2013 exclusives to purchase and only RAH's from Medicom.

You can probably work out what parts/kubricks you need from here: http://instinctoy.blog73.fc2.com/blog-entry-891.html

Each box has a diagram on the side showing which part is included inside and I think I still might have my empty boxes but I don't have access to them right this minute so if the Instinctoy blog page doesn't help you out I can probably tell you which character you need to source a new part.

edit:

Apologies for the small image it's the best I could find after a quick google search.

I had a feeling this would be the case but it appears you're out of luck in regards to the right leg, R-3PO is pretty hard to find at one per box. Luke on the other hand shouldn't be too hard to find on the cheap to replace the front guns.

The cloth cloak would have been a lot more interesting - good suggestion.

I'd bet money that the guard is going to be a carded release. When is another issue.

From memory the silver TC-14 and the Shadow Stormtrooper amongst others, were shown at the Parco show before release uncarded.

Stole this from space monkey's post over on Kubrick Nation.  Couldn't wait for him to post it any longer...

Post away...

Kubricks / Re: eBay Kubrick Scams and Fakes

I'm not saying this is either a scam or a fake but this Dagobah Luke from ronnicshop on ebay has neither the original hair or weapons. It's one of those factory seconds that pop up from time to time and still go for a pretty penny.

Just a heads up if you were thinking of bidding.

Wow, where did this come from?

At least people can now stop complaining that there are no new kubricks coming from Medicom  ;)

I can deal with the re-release. It's obviously it's part of their m.o now and isn't the line better alive (even if on life support) than dead. Medicom's been doing the repaint thing for years, the 5 packs don't exist anymore and it's now down to the 2 packs ie Han/Luke, R2/3PO, Wicket/Paploo.

edit: I don't own the first version so I had to remind myself just how similar or different they are from each other.

Not just the mouth but the eyes and probably a change in robes. Was the original's robes cloth or paper like, it's hard to tell? It might just be the fact that they're prototypes and not the final product.

Are there any conventions/festivals coming up where Medicom has previously unveiled stuff?

The same Parco Toy Exhibition Medicom has every year. It's usually late July or August.

Yeah that's what I thought.

Medicom must love you "Oooh, shiny droid, I'll take three thanks!"  ;D

Rhetorically speaking, do we really want more than a deluxe series a year? At $250 a chase on top of the increase cost of just a basic set it's kind of a blessing.

There's plenty of time for Medicom to announce a fifth DX series and have it out at the end of the year/early 2013. With a couple of carded convention exclusives sprinkled in in between.

Speaking of, Medicom's monthly update is today and no kubs.

I appreciate the tie pilot side by side.

Not being interested in the vintage-esque tie (and turning down your offer to buy yours  ;)) it's nice to see the comparison with out actually having to buy it  ;D

It's interesting to see there's definitely some minor differences and it's not a straight repaint.

Do you have one carded, one you've clearly opened and one to sell?

Or you opened one and are selling the spare?

WTF is going on here, I know you were after one of these to open, but they're now more expensive then when they were first released  ???

Bump

Damn, why didn't I see this before the auction ended. I mean I did, but didn't pay much attention to it because there's so many of the newer Snowtroopers on ebay.

I'm not actively looking to buy it but at that price I'd definitely get such a hard to find kub.

Ha ha, this auction is pretty brazen.

I saw the completed auction and as you don't see a Dagobah Luke on ebay every day I wanted to check if it came with the weapons and saw this:

Quote
I can offer a $10 off discount for this figure if you are willing to do the transaction off ebay. In this way I don't have to pay fee to ebay and the fee can be transferred to your discount. I will do the transaction through Paypal so that you will still have your buyer protection from Paypal. I have already done many off-ebay sales with many ebayers and gotten completely ZERO problems. So if you would like to save some money, I suggest you can give me a chance. Just contact me through ebay and I will send you invoice through Paypal.

That is actually stated in the auction description for anyone (and ebay) to see. I'm pretty sure I've dealt with vader-lin before with out a problem but I just laughed how he openly states pretty much 'contact me off ebay and we'll do a deal'.

I can't imagine it (or he) will last much longer.

Is this worth a try?

I see they go for about $90 on ebay these days, a far cry from what we paid initially and what the silver one is going for.
