Rogue One / Re: Rogue One - U-Wing Starfighter

I'll reserve judgement for now, but have no problem with them significantly downscaling a large ship.  I think that is really the only way these things can work economically.

From a kid perspective I have no problem with a $50 significantly downscaled toy as opposed to a $150 slightly downscaled toy.

As a collector with a fat enough wallet to pay for expense stuff I would prefer they made more $200 toys - e-wing, The Ghost, etc., but I'm sure the market just wont support things like that and completely understand them going smaller.

I'm sure Hasbro has good numbers on sales volumes, profits, price points, etc. on how many of the $150 MF ships they sold vs. the $50 X-Wings.
Nonsense. The Galactic Heroes Ghost is about 50% of how big a Hasbro version should be and it clocks in at $30 with plenty of accessories and play features.

No reason Hasbro couldn't do a very decent, mostly correctly sized, version for $100.

Mixed feelings. I like Agents of Shield, but it is a weak step sister to the MCU films. I doubt that they could turn a profit and make it of quality worthy of the name.

No Ghost in any scale.  Except Playskool. There's always that Ghost. That interacts with the Phantom.  Money left on the table.

Thanks, everyone.

I lost my sister about 3 months ago to early-onset Alzheimer's.  Truly a grueling, terrible way to go.  She battled the disease for 7 years.

Was that... ball thing... a nod to the animated Transformers Movie's Matrix of Leadership or was it just me?  They even opened it with giant robot arms.

This movie was middling at best.  I think TFA has/will inspire a lot of tepid sequels to long-adored films that trade too heavily on nostalgia.  The best part was when they offed the stripper with a heart of gold from the first film.

I also watched 10 Cloverfield Lane yesterday.  I though it was pretty good.  Nice suspense.

Speaking of AT-ST's...

My son's room is decorated in Star Wars.  I purged a bunch of the collection many years ago, but many of my most favorite items are in his room.  I am a SUCKER for the neo-vintage look, especially when it is a toy that I had as a kid, so there is a lot of that in there.

I had the K-Mart Endor AT-ST on a shelf in his room.  Two mornings ago, he came in and woke me and told me he wanted to open a toy.  I told him not to open anything and to go back to sleep.  About ten minutes later I heard a bunch of commotion from his room.  I went in and he was trying to put the AT-ST together.  He DESTROYED the box in the process.  All I could do was laugh, and put it together for him.  These are his toys now so if he wants to open them I guess the OCD collector in me has to go with the flow.

The thing looks awesome but it is a **** toy compared to what we had when we were little.  Lots of futzing to get it to stand.  I am surprises no one has released a more properly sized set of feet for this.

Hasbro has eschewed playsets in lieu of "environments" like the play features of the Falcon.  It isn't really what we consider a playset but it serves the same purpose.

Shannon and I chatted a lot near the end.  She was obviously ill and I was convalescing from back surgery. She was a really great person.  Time flies.

So sorry.

Went to our (local-ish) K-Mart's closeout sale.  I saw a bunch of the new Rey exclusive down to ~$18.  They had a TON of Jakks figures in various sizes.  I want their 15-ish R2-D2 when the price gets a little better.

Aside from that, pricing was pretty meh.
