If you had a pretty accurate and precise scale I think you could weigh them...perhaps Indy weighs a few more grams ???

Hmm!  Thats a good idea Scott. I will take that into account when they arrive. If infact I do get an Indy, I will take the scale test.  ;)  I'll do the feel test & the scale test on the Han boxes. I still have my reloading scale from weighing gun powder when I was making my own ammo.

you should weigh them before you open them tho, just in case you rip any of the paper off or chip off some glue  ;) - 'cause then you'd get some false readings... :)

But what accuracy would you need?  milligrams?  Can there really be that much difference, more than a gram or two?  Couldn't that just as easily be attributed to more glue (I know it's automated and probably deadly precise, but still...).

Wouldn't goo gone for the flap goo be better, then reseal it?  I'm not trying to cast aspersions on Brian's toys here, but it seems pretty damn unrealistic.  And what would be the point of having an Indy fig in a sealed Han box?
Look, here's my certificate showing this is a rare Indiana Jones Kubrick figure.

It looks like a Han Solo box.

Well yes, but it has the Indiana Jones figure inside.

Pointless.  Sealed in a clear baggie, yep.  Poor suffocating little bastard (filter test).

I completely agree that it is pretty damn unrealistic. The factors involved with the glue, plastic baggie & the tin foil etc... may make it impossible to detect by weight.  :-\

Worth a shot though!  :-\

that would be toughie, so I'll eat my words above if you can detect a weight difference.

In Japan someone is selling information on a way to select the chase figres before opening them. He's selling the information for 500yen and its shows a photo of him with  3 Indy's. It's probably a scam, but I'm curious. Do you think I should buy  the information?

Hmm...  I can't imagine the guy could possibly have a method other than the couple that have already been mentioned above - weighing it or x-raying it.  I don't know Simon...  That's really up to you.  What's that come out to in dollars?  That'd give me a better idea.  Any friends or collecting buddies out there you could split the cost with, to reduce your risk in case it is a scam?  Sure sounds tempting though, especially if the guys holding a bunch of Indys.  Does he have the Fetts too?  If he can predict the Chase figures across the board, then I'd likely jump on it, especially if it could help you in future waves (or other Kubrick lines like Matrix).  But if it's only the Indys this guy can predict, I'd guess he's just going to tell you to weigh them, and that the Indy one (with the hat, whip & idol) will weigh just a few milligrams more than the regular Han figure.

Keep us posted on what you decide to do though, and what, if anything you find out!   ;)

EDIT:  Yeah, $5 - $6 was what my brain was thinking the conversion was there, but that sounded pretty damned low.  But if it's just $5, that wouldn't be too bad of a risk obviously.  Might be worth it Simon!

Your kidding me!  ::)

Well IMHO, I think it's a scam too. If you think it's worth it to find out then thats up to you. 500 yen = around $5. US.
Not really alot of $$$ to loose but... :-\

Thought I'd summarize where we currently stand with the Star Wars Kubrick lineup at this point, so here's a checklist for everyone's complete and utter enjoyment, especially "the new guy"...   :P

Early Bird set:
1. Luke Skywalker (Brown hair)
2. Princess Leia
3. Chewbacca
4. R2-D2

Series 1 (Bounty Hunters):
5. Boba Fett (all grey ESB version, with 2 green gauntlets)
5a. Boba Fett (ROTJ version w/ 2 red gauntlets - CHASE)
5b. Boba Fett (Vintage version w/ 1 yellow and 1 red gauntlet - CHASE)
6. IG-88
7. Bossk
8. Dengar
9. 4-LOM
10. Zuckuss

** Carded Boba Fett (Vintage version)   :'(

** Carded Luke Skywalker (Blonde hair)

Series 2 (ANH/Tatooine):
11. Sandtrooper (Orange shoulder pauldron)
11a. Sandtrooper (White shoulder pauldron - CHASE)
12. Han Solo
12a. Indiana Jones (CHASE)
13. Cantina Band Member
13a. Cantina Band Member (w/ alternate set of instruments)
14. Obi-Wan Kenobi
15. Greedo
16. Tusken Raider

That's it so far!   8)  So for you obsessive compulsive completists, you're technically looking at 22 different figures (including blonde Luke, Indy, and Band Member w/ alternate instruments, among others).  I'll be nice and NOT include the Carded Fett, since the figure itself is identical to the regular Vintage Chase figure (and it runs about $400).   ;)

OK.  Now that most of us have secured our Series 2 figures, it's wish list time (or educated guess list in my case)!  Assuming six per wave, what do you guys think is still on tap for the Kubrick line?  You have to include at least one Chase figure in each series too!  I'm guessing there'll be two series for each movie (we've already had one for ANH and ESB, and the Early Bird set is just kind of floating out there in lala land).  This is what I predict is still on tap:

ANH:
Darth Vader
C-3PO
X-Wing Luke (Wedge and/or Biggs Chase figures)
Stormtrooper (Luke/Han Chase?)
Jawa
R5-D4
* 1st alternate: Grand Moff Tarkin
* 2nd alternate: Tie Fighter Pilot
* 3rd alternate: Power Droid / RFT

ESB:
Yoda
Lando Calrissian ("Smuggler" Lando chase?  8))
Snowtrooper
Hoth Han (Blue/Brown coat Chase)
Bespin Luke (Dagobah Luke Chase?)
Bespin Leia
* 1st alternate: Carbonite Han
* 2nd alternate: Ugnaught
* 3rd alternate: Lobot

ROTJ (Jabba's Palace):
Jedi Luke (Chase - with/without robe?  Bone?  Glove?  :-\)
Boussh (Slave Leia Chase?)
Gamorrean Guard
Lando Skiff Guard
Bib Fortuna
Slave Leia
* 1st alternate: Jabba the Hutt?!?  8)
* 2nd alternate: Yakface
* 3rd alternate: Oola

ROTJ:
Emperor
Biker Scout
Wickett (Logray/Teebo Chase figures)
Admiral Ackbar
Imperial Royal Guard
General Lando
* 1st alternate: Endor Han
* 2nd alternate: Endor Luke
* 3rd alternate: Endor Leia

TPM 1:
Qui-Gonn Jinn (no cloak)
Obi-Wan (no cloak)
Darth Maul (no cloak)
Anakin (Pilot Chase)
Jar Jar Binks
Battle Droid (OOM-9 Chase)

TPM 2:
Padme (Blue/Purple outfit Chase)
Watto
Boss Nass
Nute Gunray
C-3PO
Shmi
* 1st alternate: Sebulba (too difficult for this line, I'd think)
* 2nd alternate: Destroyer Droid (also difficult for this line)
* 3rd alternate: Captain Panaka

AOTC 1:
Anakin
Obi-Wan
Jango Fett
Mace Windu
Count Dooku
Clone Trooper (Red/Yellow/Blue Chase)
* 1st alternate: Emperor Palpatine
* 2nd alternate: Ki-Adi Mundi
* 3rd alternate: Plo-Koon

AOTC 2:
Dexter Jettster
Geonosian Warrior
Padme (Arena new/ripped shirt Chase)
Lama Su (Taun We Chase)
Zam Wessell
Super Battle Droid
* 1st alternate: Kit Fisto
* 2nd alternate: Aayla Secura
* 3rd alternate: Coleman Trebor

So that's 2 series per movie, with a bunch of alternates.  If by chance the line continues on beyond that into some of the more obscure characters, I'd guess they'd do the following themed waves:

Cantina:
Ponda Baba
Hammerhead
Snaggletooth (Red, but with the Blue Vintage Chase)
Arcona (Hem Dazon)
Dr. Evazan
Muftak
* 1st alternate: Wuher
* 2nd alternate: Djas Puhr
* 3rd alternate: Labria

Jabba's Palace:
Yak Face
Ree-Yees
Tessek (Squid Head)
Amanaman
Oola (Yarna D'al Gargan Chase, since none of these 6 really work)
Ephant Mon
* 1st alternate: Ishi Tibb
* 2nd alternate: EV-9D9
* 3rd alternate: Yarna D'al Gargan

Jedi:
Ki-Adi Mundi
Plo-Koon (Saesee Tiin Chase, since none of these 6 really work)
Yarael Poof
Kit Fisto
Aayla Secura
Coleman Trebor
* 1st alternate: Saesee Tiin
* 2nd alternate: Barriss Offee
* 3rd alternate: Oppo Rancisis (difficult for this line)

Perhaps an all Padme Amidala series too?

Then obviously a couple of Episode 3 waves...

I somewhat dread when the Kubrick line will potentially move into the Prequel movies, since I usually don't collect non-OT stuff outside of the 4" line.  I wonder what I'll do if/when that happens...

Anyone know how long these Kubrick lines can run?  Are there any series that just continually pump out new waves of figures several times a year for quite a while, or will we just be seeing another handful of waves, and that'll be it?  What are some of the longer running series so far?  How obscure can the characters get do you think?  Ah, the possibilities are endless...

Much fun with Star Wars Kubricks!  Definitely one of my absolute favorite lines to collect...   8)

Brian's Toys cracks me up...

What I want to know is, will they take it back if its open? It would almost be worth it to buy one, open it and find out its not Indy, just so we could tell the internet shopping community its a big scam. I am not a fan of Brian's Toys in the slightest...

Just make sure you realize, jokabofe, that in order to be considered part of our little Star Wars Completionist Kubrick Club, you have to buy Dale, Matt and myself each a carded Fett ;)
