The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Reboot Episodes I, II & III?
« on: December 27, 2015, 09:33 PM »
I don't really want to see that, I've never been a fan of remakes. Let them stand as they are, regardless of what popular opinion is about them. That said, if ever there were to be some sort of remake, I'd love it if it were an animated continuation of the Clone Wars series. The way that series was progressing I think they would have handled the fall of Anakin brilliantly, and I was always really kind of bummed out that they would never be able to tell the whole story to it's conclusion.

The Force Awakens / Re: TFA 3.75" Action Figure 2-Packs

Really pumped up about these two. These are the kind of Star Wars figures I go nuts for, love my scummy aliens and what are probably just backgrounders. Nice to see they're not shying away from the Hammerheads and Walrusmen of this new trilogy so far. These two are really nicely sculpted, very detailed, and fun to look at. Jakku seems to be shaping up to be the new Jabbas Palace and Cantina of this new collection, and I look forward to seeing what else they have in store.

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: TRU "Jabba's Rancor Pit" Battle Pack

I just checked my Jabba over and he's fine. no sticky residue on the throne, no oiliness on his underside. I wonder if it's a widespread problem or just a few of them that have these issues.

I've gotten 6 of the standard line figures, Kylo Ren, Rey, FO Stormtrooper, Phasma, Flametrooper and Constable Zuvio. I'm surprisingly impressed by these despite the low articulation count. They feel solid like a POTF2 figure, but with the sculpting and detail of a modern black series figure. I'm having quite a bit of fun with them, feels like when I started collecting again, before I was worried about POAs and was more interested in how awesome it was to finally have a Bossk and a Gonk and Jawa.

Surprisingly, the more I look at Black Series Kylo Ren, the more I'm questioning whether I really need one. I'm actually quite happy with my 5 poa figure, it's really quite nice from a "sit on the shelf and look cool with the many hundreds of other figures I own that are basically in neutral poses anyway" perspective. Sculpt and paint quality look about even, the only thing is the articulation, which I think I can probably live without, since most of my stuff ends up in neutral poses anyway. I'd definitely grab a couple stormies for a squad though, mix them in with a few of the standard ones, cuz why not. The pose-ability is a little more noticeable if you've got a squad all standing completely identically.

It's very disturbing how easy a victory that was....

It's incredibly stupid. On top of being with all the other adult figures like aliens and predators and Freddy and Jason and such, it doesn't actually advertise drugs at all, as many have said, the "Meth" accessory is hidden behind the insert. Where do you draw the line? Ninja turtles have swords and other violent weapons, should they be removed from shelves? GI Joes have guns and terrorists, does buying a Cobra Commander mean advocating terrorism? Girl dolls are dressed very sexualized with unrealistic proportions, should we boycott those too?

Whats next? Am I gonna start being denied my Cantina Aliens cuz some crazy mom finds out those little plastic cups they have on them are filled with a ficticious alcoholic beverage? I suppose we might as well kiss Han Solo figures good bye as well, drug smuggler that he is. And forget ever getting you're dead Padme and extra crispy Owen and Beru....And while we're wasting all this time saving their children from a terrible action figure they probably don't give two tosses about, being that they're just boring old dude action figures that no kid would probably be interested in anyway, lets instead teach them a very important lesson! That if you see something you don't like, just gripe and yell and scream until everyone caves in and gives you what you want. Cuz that's good parenting. But I digress...

Fan of the figures or not, I think it's something any adult fan of action figures ought to see and consider supporting.

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: Black Series Rumors

Yeah, the R5 and Rex will be nice, but the others are kind of boring, seems like way too many redos in the Black Series, very few that are genuinely new. And as far as redos go, I think we've needed a new cinnabun hair Leia way before any others, particularly Boushh, who I happen to think holds up pretty well in all honesty. Be nice if they could at least slap a new head on that Navy Commander, maybe do the ol grey tunic variant or somthing.

I've got a similar situation where I've just got too much crap and need to dump it off. I'm basically just gutting my collection and focusing solely on the smaller scale stuff from my main lines. As for these new movies, if they look good standing next to the other guys on my shelves, as in solid sculpt and paint (I can live without super pose ability if they don't make em) then I'll nab em, as long as they do things the way they used to, lots of weird aliens and robots from the background and such. They should be giving us a whole slew of new there in the background for 5 second creature designs, and that's the stuff I love, and miss collecting right now.

I'd be down for a lot more of these if they were just painted a little better, I don't mind the lack of POA's but make them look better, the sculpts are solid but the shiny coloured plastic look turns me off. POTJ was frequently low POA's but they looked brilliant. My other gripe with these is that the arms are frequently sculpted too straight, it looks off to me, they look better when theres a bit of a bend to them, or even, dare I say it, preposed (ala POTJ). No one duels with a lightsaber by holding it in one hand with their arm fully extended. If they could solve those two nitpicks, I'd be all over these.

I'll stick with my OTC Dagobah Luke but the others look nice enough. Double hinge joints like that never look very good on flesh, and rarely on figures this small, I'd prefer the stick to the ball elbows.

I read over at the fwoosh that TBD is trying to get the dwarves as a specialty shop exclusive. Maybe BBTS will pick them up or something. Fingers crossed.

Other Toy Lines / Re: ReAction Lines

Several sites have pictures of most of the rest of the stuff. I find a lot of this stuff is really hit or miss, maybe partly due to source material. I find a lot of the human characters are just too plain to be very interesting. Love the look of the horror stuff and the universal monsters though, they look pretty fantastic.
