Other Collectibles / Re: Kubricks Vs Mighty Muggs

6 inches huh...Well, I'm out on this line before it even gets started. The thing is that I like Kubricks because they are a great space saver. I could understand if the SW Mighty Muggs were about the same size as something like Munny's...but 6 inches of plastic doesn't scream "buy me".

Hmm...Mighty Muggs eh??? I prefer Kubricks over everything else, but I'll have to check those MM's when they are released to have any opinion on those...

My package arrived yesterday, but I've been so busy the past few days with a hectic holiday week at work. Looking at the pictures I almost regret getting the scaled Medal and feel I should've probably pre-ordered the scaled Wedge helmet instead. It's nothing against MR as I love their products, but this one has me feeling underwhelmed. I definately want to display it someway (minus the packaging like I do with the scaled sabers/blasters).

Before I make a rash decison on these PT Kubies, I'm looking forward to seeing what they look like...

I just wished that Medicom would've continued the OT until Series 10.

I opted against getting a new Stormtrooper though.  I'll just dunk mine in a tub of bleach.

That's exactly why I backed away from the scaled Stormtrooper helmet. A buddy of mine owns a few of the Riddell Helmets and his Stormie helmet has yellowed over time.

Yeah, I wandered over to MR to check on it's status right after I made the post above, and when I saw the 2007 CS kit was still in stock, I decided to go ahead and nab it to get that Qui-Gon mini.  Plus, my new (renewed) CS membership allows me to get in for the Wedge helmet later this morning (and at the extra 10% off now), which I wouldn't have been able to get had I waited 'til Thursday as a non-member, since I would've been standing in the C4 line at that time, while it possible sold out.  Pre-ordering my Stormie helmet with the Wedge one, while I'm at it.

I winded up signing up earlier today to. The only thing is when I went to purchase the CIV exclusives (Scaled Medal Of Yavin & Wedge Helmet) it came uup as it's listed prices and not 10% like the other products on my product page. I didn't feel like shelling out another $60 to get the Wedge helmet (I'm still on the fence so I backed off)...I did order the Scaled Medal of Yavin though. I'm wondering how it's going to be shipped because I like my scaled replicas on display (especially the sabers that I've been picking up lately). Still at $15, I thought it was a nice piece to go along with the rest of my collection.

I checked the shipping for both exclusives separately and shipping doubled when put together (from $6-12) so I guess it doesn't matter if the orders are separate or not. Still, I'm on the fence for that Wedge though. A piece of me is telling me to get it (especially since it's an exclusive) and another piece of me is telling me to back off (I'm unsure of getting into the studio scale helmets and besides I already shelled out $75 today on the membership (with CS Saber) along with the MOY. I gotta ask myself if I really want to spend another $60 with another preorder I'm going to do next week for the MR Animal.

>:( IT Sucks! I was really hopin' for a Qui-Gon Fx :P

Haha...I was actually waiting for that along with the FX for Sidious & Dooku for next year...

Sadly, it's not gonna happen now  :(

I was saddened to see the news. I just got into some of their Star Wars items. I bought my first and only Force FX saber last year around Christmas and thought it was so cool. I eventually got into the .45 scale lightsaber line because they were fun to collect and inexpensive. I was thinking about picking a couple high end pieces this year. But now with the news, the products can go either way...people will be clamoring for these before the product disappears for good or people will back off completely on the products expecting huge clearance prices in the same vein as Code 3 and other companies that had (and lost the Lucasfilm license)....

Exclusives had a big impact on collectors. I think they alienated collectors in the early goings with that early bird kit because they made core characters as exclusives. Not to have a Chewbacca or R2D2 in a Star Wars collection is a travesty. I'm not a completist by any means, but spending $100 on a 2" plastic figure is absolutely crazy, no amount of detail in those Kubs could ever make me spend $100 or more on one single Kubrick. I think alot of other collectors felt the same. I had a pair of my friends that were really into Star Wars Kubricks with me, but prices to complete the sets became more unreasonable as the years went by.

I realize that Medicom isn't Hasbro where they are pumping out figure after figure and this kind of line is niche. But collectors from the same niche have different buying habits. Some collectors will shell out the $100+ for the chase figure to complete the set. Then you have collectors on the other end of the spectrum, that only purchase figures that are reasonably priced and understand the niche that the line essentially carries.

i agree evenflow....

i love the kubricks line and i know the demand is still there. it seems more like medicom is focusing in on other products (VCD, RAH, etc) that this line that we all love has taken the backseat. it's really sad walking into my comic book shop and seeing no kubricks, but seeing tons of dunnys and other imported mini figures untouched and collecting dust. there is no kubricks in site at any of those stores. kubricks used to be plentiful around these parts and would sell very well. the comic book shops never even got an assortment of Star Wars Series 7 kubricks (which the SW line was by far their biggest seller). i had to resort to the internet to buy a box of 12.

There is always that chance with any kind of preorders because they are alloting a certain number of pieces for shipment. Their supplier could always back out and send less sets than expected due to shortages or other reasons.

Late in the game to pick this up, but my patience paid off. I purchased Series 7 Box of 12 for $50. Besides the great deal, it came with a pair of Blue Royal Guards. Very cool price w/ some very cool kubricks.

I just added the full scale Maul and Luke Jedi to my collection (thanks to the 50% off sale at borders they cost me $100 and $60 respectively).  ;D

fantastic score. the borders around here has no specials on those. i'd be all over that jedi luke if that was the case.
