Alright, it's almost that time of year again. And as much as I hate to see/hear Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving, we're gonna go ahead and get the ball rolling on the 2nd annual JediDefender Secret Santa gift exchange so everyone has plenty of time to "shop". Big thanks to Wayne/Reconsgt for bringing about the original one last year! We had a lot of fun with it, and exchanged a lot of cool SW (and non-SW) goodies, so if you're interested in partaking in the festivities this year, then go ahead and give us a holler here, and we'll sign you up!
This is pretty much just like most Secret Santa games you've probably been involved with in the past. We're gonna have a sign up list, and then draw names out of a hat, at which point everyone will be assigned another JD member to send a gift to. Usually helps if everyone gets their trade list wants up to speed and bumped in the trading forum, so your Secret Santa knows what may be of interest to you. No real dollar limit perse. Anything from $5 to $50 is just fine - whatever you feel comfortable with. We probably averaged about $20 a gift in last year's exchange, if that'll help give you a ballpark number to roll with. I'll go ahead and take down everyone's addresses too, and will PM them to whoever gets assigned that respective person.
Feel free to browse folks' trade/want lists here, or have another member do a little "third party investigating" on your behalf, or just find some fun stuff all on your own. So with that said, let's get the sign ups going here, and have some fun! We'll probably run the sign-up for about a week and a half. I think that's everything for now, but feel free to give us a shout if you've got any questions about the gift exchange. So without further ado...

You can count me in again... and you should have my address already with all the damn packages you send me :D
-
I'm in...I'll be displaying the ornament Brad got me last year :)
-
Count me in as well!
-
Count me in as well!
Only if you promise to send me a John Deere t-shirt! 8) Either that, or the girl who was wearing it. Or that J-Lo chick. Or... Well... yeah, any of those 3 would suffice.
-
If Brent signs up and he is my Secret Santa, I fear for my safety :-X
-
Sign me up.
-
I never got in on this last year so I would like to sign up. (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/Smileys/classic/smiley.gif)
-
Count me in. I think you have my address somewhere, if not, let me know and I'l get it to you.
-
I can afford this. Count me in.
Kevin
-
Matt, Count me in as will.
-
I'm in.

Count me in.
-
I'm in!
-
Does it matter what the gift is?
If not count me in as well.
I'm doing one for another site so here as well can work
-
If Brent signs up and he is my Secret Santa, I fear for my safety :-X
Ding, ding!
I'm in. Only problem for me is I have to know who my recipient is really, really quickly. I'm away from the 3rd to 16th, so I need to mail out by Thursday the 2nd.
Matt, if you're organizing this, drop me a PM, I have an idea on this one to help out my situation.
-
Hemish,
It doesn't totally matter what you get, but we kind of try to do some investigating to figure out what our gift recipient may be interested in, or at least what types of lines, or figures (OT, PT, army building, etc.) But if you've got some good Star Wars stuff you think could work, then that's probably cool too...
Matt, if you're organizing this, drop me a PM, I have an idea on this one to help out my situation.
Taken care of. ;)
-
Is there going to be some kind of cutoff date for signing up so that we can get everything squared away about who's gonna
send me stuff have who and everyone has a chance to ship before Christmas?
-
We'll probably run the sign-up for about a week and a half.
But I guess we can go ahead and say the cut off for the sign-up is Saturday, December 4th.
-
Count me in.
-
[Luke] I'm with you ,too. [/Luke]
-
[Luke] I'm with you ,too. [/Luke]
Funny, but I was wondering if someone might say that... ;)
OK, added you to the list Bobb, but please forgive me if I rig the contest, and assign you myself, and then suggest a large custom diorama of the Death Star or Bespin would make for the best gift... ;D
-
I was already worried about that sort of outcome...
Suffice it to say whoever I get should walk away with something...unique... :o
(...or not... ???)
-
:)
-
Right on, up to 17 with smileyfaceguy, lets get it up higher gang! 8)
-
Guess I forgot to sign up before I left for the Holiday, so I'll do it now!
:)
Jeff
-
OK, count me in too. :)
-
Me too!!!!

I think someone should match Rob and I up so I can finally send him his clones and he can finally send me my money for the sale we've had "in progress" for a year now. ;D
I ALMOST dug them out last night, but then I got obsessed with Halo 2, dagnabbit.
-
I think someone should match Rob and I up so I can finally send him his clones and he can finally send me my money for the sale we've had "in progress" for a year now. ;D
Any chance you had of that happening just went right out the door Josh! Pretty confident in saying (now) that there's absolutely NO chance of you getting Rob! You two clowns need to handle your procrastinating trading habits separately. Or YOU should, I guess I should say, since it sounds like Rob's actually just an innocent third party to your laziness... :-*
Maybe I'll get you, and send you another Stormie blaster! :P
That said, any more takers? Deadline's this Saturday! Come on folks, show your love (and Holiday spirit) for you JD brethren... 8)
-
So it isn't random selection? It's all pre-determined? ;D
Hey, I fully take responsibility for the lion's share of my delay with Rob, but I still blame him for the whole thing because when I actually had all the stuff he wanted on my shelves, easy to find and ready to go.....he wasn't ready for me to send. He didn't start bugging me about it until I packed it all up to move.
BTW....sorry to take this off topic. Hopefully none of you Berthas ban me. ;D
-
So it isn't random selection? It's all pre-determined? ;D
Well... I wouldn't say it's pre-determined, perse... But I may feel the need to "adjust" some of the names coming out of the hat for situations such as this!
Or... if anyone has something(s) that they KNOW someone else on the list desperately wants/needs, they could always LMK (and maybe bribe me), and I'll see what I can do about it... ;)
-
Hey Matt
How about a secret santa wish list thread?
That way people can put down anything they would like etc etc and maybe it will give people afew hints on what to get them.
dunno just a suggestion.
-
Yep, that's kinda along the lines of what I suggested in my initial post here.
Usually helps if everyone gets their trade list wants up to speed and bumped in the trading forum, so your Secret Santa knows what may be of interest to you.
But instead of an "official Secret Santa wishlist", I thought it'd be better just to play coy and update and bump all of our respective trading lists (with our current wants/needs). So stop on by the trading forum folks, and hop to! Assuming you don't want a box full of totally random crap, that is... :P
-
I want random crap....and some cozy flip flops.
-
....and some cozy flip flops.
Sorry J, but I don't think Virex, or the Ghost thereof, is participating in the festivities. So you'll have to be happy with "random crap" instead probably.
-
Computer broken. Will stop in from time to time to check PM's. Will make sure I uphold my Secret Santa Dutys.
End.
Kevin
-
Today's the last day for sign-ups, so any stragglers out there better speak now, or forever hold onto their Grinch spirit! :P
I'll PM folks their counterparts on Saturday night or Sunday sometime...
-
I'll PM folks their counterparts on Saturday night or Sunday sometime...
Lazy bastard.
-
Lazy bastard.
Impatient b*tch. :-X
OK, names have been pulled, and are going to be rolling out via PM here in a few minutes. Looks like I'll still have to get some addresses in though, so you guys can start your researching and shopping, but not quite your actual shipping just yet. I'll shoot those along ASAP though.
Might be better if everyone just sends me their shipping addresses if they haven't already done so. Even you folks who I've traded with in the past (so I don't have to search through a thousands of PMs. Thanks!
Don't forget to bump (or create) your trading list wants in the trading forum to aid your Santa, assuming you actually want to get some stuff you'd like! Folks can also PM me if they want some third party assistance, and I can ask your recipient what stuff they'd like to get, and I can pass that info along to you... Whatever works!
Also, it's completely up to each Santa if they want to remain anonymous, or if they'd like to reveal their true gift giving identity. It's not a requirement though. And as a reminder, just send what you can afford. That's up to you too... Last year we probably averaged about $20 a pop, as a general guideline if you need it. Spend/send more or less than that if you'd like.
So without further ado, here come your gift recipients... 8)
-
Oh ****, I have I updated my address since last year? I moved in October...
-
No biggie. Just send me the new one Andrew... ;)
-
:D
-
:P
OK, everyone's got their Secret Santa assignments now, if not the respective shipping addresses. But I'll hopefully get the rest of those to you guys in the next day or two, assuming you folks who I still need them from send 'em to me!
Have fun, and good luck everybody. No Pink Elephants! ;)
- M
-
Hey Santas!
I'm still getting a good amount of requests in for "Wants lists" from some folks, so stop on by the Trading or Classifieds forum if you haven't already, and toss (or bump) your list in there!
Ya' might want to add a few CDs and/or DVDs onto it too, as not everyone has those certain SW collectibles that you're looking for readily available in their areas. Just a thought... ;)
Happy Holidays!
-
I hope my Secret Santa receivee doesn't mind that I had a brain fart and forgot to wrap my gifts. :-[
-
I didn't wrap mine either, recieve should get them in 2-4 days :-*
-
Ho ho ho!
Kevin
-
I hope my Secret Santa receivee doesn't mind that I had a brain fart and forgot to wrap my gifts. :-[
Dammit Mikey, that's it! You're not allowed to play again next year. No gift for you!
I think you made up a new word there too... :P
Feel free to share your joys and adulation in here when your get your stuff folks. Or on the flipside, curse your Secret Santa out if they send you a bunch of moldy Jar Jars or Rancor Keepers...
BTW, I'm sure most recipients will be able to figure out who their Santa is based on the return addy's on the packages...
-
Do you want us to say now? Because I got mine on Saturday (I think)...but I'm waiting to open it until its closer to Christmas
-
Hell, that's up to you! Open now, open later. Whatever works for ya'!
Just don't go making any trading deals, or buying anything in a store, that may be sitting in that package right now, ya' know?! :-*
-
I'm taking a wild guess with my Secret Santa, since I can't get much info on him.
-
Gonna try and mail off my buddy's gift tomorrow after exams. Fingers crossed.
-
The recipient of my Secret Santa stuff is going to have to deal with the fact that he is a picky person and hard to shop for. ;D
Now I know how my friends must feel when they look at my Christmas lists. I've been running around looking for stuff for this guy that I haven't been able to find yet for me.
I'm thinking of grabbing some "My little Pony" dolls and sending them instead.
:)
-
I love my little pony!
:D
-
I still haven't recieved the item that I got for my receipent yet. Hopefully it arrives sometime this week so I can mail it out in time for Christmas. If it doesn't get there before sorry. :'(
-
No biggie Tom.
If anyone's running late, feel free to LMK, and I'll just pass it along to your recipient. We had some people do that last year. It's not the end of the world if stuff isn't delivered by Christmas day. It's the thought that counts, right?
And I'm sure everyone here would prefer anyone take the extra time necessary to make their gift more kickass! ;)
-
I just received my present from my Santa(Jokabofe)
wow what a haul, my kids were loving it, thanks heaps.
HAve to try and send mine off, just aven't had time , it's driving me nuts!!
-
Just mailed my Secret Santa gift. :)
-
Me too.
:-*
-
Running a bit behind, but I managed to get my Secret Santa gift out in the mail!
Hope he enjoys it (and the awesome ugly wrapping paper too)! ;)
Jeff
-
Received my gifts today from Scott and couldn't be happier. He picked me up a Red Skull and Scorpion and threw in a Kermit, Han Solo and Greedo Kubrick (most resist the urge to get more). Thanks again Scott!
-
My present arrived on Friday, and I sent out my side today. Don't worry--no regifting!
(I'm very pleased with my goodies!!)
-
Got my gift today and it was perfect!! Thanks so much Dale!!!
Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
-
Opened my present last night and I want to thank Tim/Stim for the Stormie! Thanks a ton :) And Merry Christmas to everyone
-
I just sent out my gift. Hope my receipent likes it.
-
Got mine last night as well. Very cool, one-of-a-kind, hand blown glass Christmas (Death Star) ornament from JD's own Mr. Talented Art Guy - Brad! 8)
Too cool. Thank you very much Brad! :-*
- M
-
BTW, a few people have mentioned to me that they're running just a little late with their gifts, so if you haven't gotten yours yet, don't fret - they'll be there soon, I'm sure! ;)
-
Hey, btw, I'm gonna be posting a pic of the ornament on my art site and I wanted to ask your permission to put your full name as the owner? Or at least just first name?
-
Eternal slacker that I am, I finally mailed out my secret santa care package today. Since my partner didn't have any particular needs or wants, I took the liberty to spice up his existence with some "unique" items that can only be found in the South ;)
On another note, whoever had me please don't be offended if I don't thank you immediately. I'm flying home for Christmas tomorrow morning, then am going directly from So Cal to Oregon for two weeks, so I'm not going to be home for about a month. Rest assured as soon as I get home I'm ripping open my gift and posting about it immediately!
-
Got my package today :D Very nice gifts from MikeyD, a VOTC stormie and several of the new post OTC wave plus a nice Christmas card to boot. Sorry, I opened it early ;)
-
Hey, btw, I'm gonna be posting a pic of the ornament on my art site and I wanted to ask your permission to put your full name as the owner? Or at least just first name?
Most definitely! In fact, I brainfarted, and meant to tell you earlier to take pix of whatever your goodie was gonna be, so I could show it off when I get it, since I'm retarded and don't have a digital camera yet...
But please, show it off, and use my full name if you like! Thanks again, Brad. You rock.
- M
-
..., since I'm retarded...
- M
We can live with that. Actually, we do, nearly every day. :-*
-
I thought I had sent that as a PM to you.
Gosh that's embarassing.
:-X
Edit - here's the ornament...
:D
-
Hey, that's my Death Star ornament! 8)
The picture there doesn't really do it justice though. It's actually the Death Star II. Most of the glass has a "frosted" surface, whereas the portions that are "under construction" (like in the movie) have been detailed by clear glass, if that makes any sense...
I probably have it kinda backwards though. It was probably all clear glass originally, and Brad (I think) covered certain portions with a tape like substance that he wanted to detail, and then "frosted" the rest. Is that kinda right, Brad?
Anyway, you can't really make the laser cannon area out too well there either, but it indeed is very well pronounced on the ornament, as is the trench. Just way too cool of an item. Hand made. One of a kind. I'm thoroughly diggin' it, as I mentioned to Brad on the phone earlier today.
Best of all, it actually matches the overall design of the ornaments on our tree, so Patty's given it the clearance to hang with the rest of our various clear, silver, green and red ballshaped ornaments. That's saying a lot too, since she won't put much of anything "outside of our design theme" on the tree, especially not the Hallmark Star Wars ornaments, which have to stay secluded in the Hobby Room. ;)
But as "Star Warsy" as this piece is (being the Death Star and all), it's got a rather subtle design to it. So to the naked eye, it'll probably go unnoticed by most people, who'll just think it's another glass ball ornament on our tree. But no! There's so much more to it! That's why I dig it. Star Wars, but elegantly crafted in a subtle, artistic design.
Brad, you my friend, are a stud.

My present came today.
Thank you secret Santa from Minnesota!!
-
I sent mine and it came back to to improper post marking. :-[ It's on it's way. :P
Kevin
-
My shipment has also been delayed, but it will be on its way soon.
:)
-
Due to certain circumstances, mine will not be shipped out in the immediate future.
I guess my gift is from one of ya'll then...
-
Aside from the mentions above, I've gotten several other PMs in the last couple days with people mentioning they're running late with their goodies...
So don't fret if you haven't received any loot from your Santa yet! I'm quite sure everyone will at some point... ;)
-
I just sent out my gift. Hope my receipent likes it.
It arrived safely and was indeed well liked by the recipient! ;D
-

Glad you like it Jeff.
-
I recieved my secret Santa gift today from Downunder. I'm not sure who it wasfrom since he didn't put his name on it just "Secret Santa" with an address but I have an idea who, . Thanks whoever it was for the Imperial Trooper since I haven't seen him around here at retail.
-
Well, I guess I need to visit a few other sections in this forum... I would have really enjoyed doing this. I definitely will next year.
:P
-
Wow!
Thanks to my secret santa as well! I was out of town for the holidays, and just got in today to find a box o' goodies on my doorstep! Thanks so much for the army builders (including the HTF Scanning Trooper!), galactic hero stormie set and -- my very first kubrick!
I really, really appreciate it. I'm not sure who you are, but you really went above and beyond. Thanks a lot and Merry (belated) Christmas!
-Steve
-
...and -- my very first kubrick!
Uh-oh.
You're in deep **** now, Steve. Those things are like crack cocaine! :o

You're in deep **** now, Steve. Those things are like crack cocaine! :o
Can I get an Amen, brother? Curse you all and your Kubrick-y drug. :'(
-
Hey guys, just thought I'd stick my big nose in here. It's great to see a tight knit community in action. I'd love to get in on the giving next year (I thought about it this year, but figured I should be a little more involved first :-\), so keep up the fun! 8)
Cheers!
-
I got my item a few days ago and would like to thank my secret santa. A very cool item that I did not yet have, so that makes it all the better. ;D

Got my Secret Santa package today!! Yeah, it's not Christmas anymore, but so what. It was better getting it a week later, 'cause just when you think Christmas is all over, another box of stuff shows up :)
Thanks SantaMAC ;)
-
Still nothing...and waiting for my person to return so that I may ship the present.
-
Still nothing...and waiting for my person to return so that I may ship the present.
Your person has returned now, Andrew, so fire away! ;)
I'll see about checking in with your Santa too, to see how things are going...
-
Roger that
-
My gift from my secret Santa arrived last night. Apparently, my secret santa chose to remain "Secretive" and did not include any identifier, so I will thank him here for the creative and non-Star Wars related gifts.
I received several different Dodge Viper hotwheels cars. Being a fan of Vipers, I enjoyed looking at each of these little cars. Some of them have rubber tires, and some don't. There are different colors and different packages. They're all different in one way or another.
I'm not a Hotwheels collector, so I'm not sure if any of these are rare or not......but it was certainly a bevy of Vipers that seemed like it would be really hard to put together with anything less than a few trips to the store.
So thanks to my Secret Santa for the very cool gift!
-
Andrew sent me an SA Stormtrooper - how cool! I'm afraid I might be hooked.
-
First of many, my friend, first of many.
Still nothing on the Carolinian front, yo.
-
I think it's just Andrew and Dale who are still waiting, but I'm confident your Santas will come through for you both! I know that Dale's Santa is a little frustrated with Dale being so difficult to shop for, so he's busting his ass trying to find him something decent. ;)
-
Take your time...just so long as I get ti befour next December. ;)
-
I'm finally back home and was able to get to the Post Office today to pick up my secret santa package that had been waiting patiently for my arrival. The sender chose not to reveal their identity, but did hook my up with a sweet VOTC Stormie, of which I'm most pleased with!
Gracias Secret Santa!
-
:-[
Boy do I feel embarased. I asked a family member to mail 2 packages, the secret santa gift, and Metal Jedi's Pablo Jill. Aparently in the holiday rush, both packages and a present made their wayunder a blanket in the trunk and said family member assumed she sent it. I feel bad. I'll get these out myself tommorow. :-[
Kevin
-
Hey, he's alive! :o Missed ya' around here Kev...
Thanks for the update on your packages. No worries on the Santa gig. You're still actually tied with someone else for last place. :P
It'll just be a Secret Valentine's gift instead. You know, Christmas stuff, with a romantic twist to it. So toss a card in there too, and say something mushy to your recipient. :-*
-
Hmmm, if that pacage is for me I'd prefer not to be romanced by a dude who's older than me...or a dude period.
-
It'll just be a Secret Valentine's gift instead. You know, Christmas stuff, with a romantic twist to it. So toss a card in there too, and say something mushy to your recipient. :-*
Mushy...water and paper shavings...and mashed tater flakes.
Kevin
-
Well today I received a parcel from my Secret
Santa Valentine. (http://www.cheesebuerger.net/images/smilie/liebe/a038.gif)
Yes, they were worth the wait. I got a Galactic Heroes Yoda/Clone Trooper and the Cantina set with a Blue Snaggy. 8) Oh, there both minty mint. 8)
I didn't realize how big the Cantina set actually was. :o
Thank You. (http://www.cheesebuerger.net/images/smilie/liebe/a030.gif)
-
Thank the maker! Does this mean this thread gets to be "unstuck" now and fall into the great abyss of old threads?
-
Not till I get mine, I'm afraid.
-
The last kid with no present on Christmas. :'(
-
Sorry Andrew, I thought you'd gotten yours by now.
By all means, keep the sticky then!
-
Not till I get mine, I'm afraid.
Quit yourbitchin', it's ashippin'!
Kevin
-
>:( Blah, it's all that powderd food you've been eating! It's going to your head man!
-
So what's the story here fellas? Is it still stuck in Grandma's trunk, or can we finally unsticky this thing - preferably before Valentine's Day?!?
Talk to me.
:P
-
Un-sticky it. It's mailed. :P
Andrew can still be my Valentine.
I think he'll be in New Orleans, if I remember correctly, so he'll have somthing waiting for him when he comes home.
Kevin
-
Un-sticky it. It's mailed. :P
Nope. No un-stickying until I get final confirmation from our final recipient - not the final sender. So you're stuck at the top for a little longer, slowpoke! :-*
-
I'm back, but I haven't gotten my Cupid Claus present. Soon enough though...
-
I am officially tired of seeing this thread as a sticky >:(
-
Your breakin' my heart sunshine. He won't get it today because the post doesn't move today.
He got ALOT of stuff coming his way from me because I'm a saint. :-*
Kevin
-
He got ALOT of stuff coming his way from me because I'm a saint. :-*
No, it's 'cause your ass is way LATE!
Forget Valentine's. This one's starting to shape up as a St. Patricks Day gift now... :P
Kevin, maybe I should just assign you your 2005 Secret Santa recipient right now, so that maybe they can get it around the Holidays later this year... :-*
-
Yeah, why don't you. I actually laughed out loud at that. ;)
I still haven't broken Dimetrodons record fro a year and 2 months for not sending my DROIDS yet.
Kevin
-
Still waiting...here's an example of what may happen:
Log: June 29th, 2007
Well I finally got Kevins package. Too bad the contents fell out.
-
Hey, who unstickied this thing! >:(
This is supposed to stay stickied 'til the fat lady sings, or Andrew gets his present. Whichever comes first. I'm guessing it'll be the former...
-
Bite me. ;D
MetalJedi got his Pablo Jill, so Andrew should get his box of swag real soon. Like, this week soon.
Kevin
-
Hey, who unstickied this thing! >:(
This is supposed to stay stickied 'til the fat lady sings, or Andrew gets his present. Whichever comes first. I'm guessing it'll be the former...
T'was me. :-*
-
Remind me where you live again, Kev? I thought Andrew was just a few states over from you, so I don't think it should take 19 weeks to get to him. What'd you do, tie it to the back of a Llama, or sumthin'?
-
No, I tied it to a cat's tail.
No, there's somthing wrong with the postal system here in town, honestly. Today I sent out somthing to a Jurassic Park forum member I know, and she put the tag on the box, and put it behind the counter, handed me the adress sticker and walked off.
I've brought in packages, and they've been post marked 3 or more days later.
His stuff should be ariving real soon. I live in New York, he lives in South Carolina. He and I almost met up except a hurricane ruined that for me. :(
Kevin
-
Approximately how old was the cat? That might make a difference...
Unless the cat was actually already dead, which would probably explain things.

It looked alot like...that actually. :(

Well it has finally arrived.
Lobot, Cloud Car Pilot, loose Jedistarfighter, a POTF2 Boba Fett loose, and a loose Senator Jar-Jar. Pretty cool. Thanks Kevin...I just hope I don't get paired with you next year! :P
-
Good God, it's about time!! Now we can finally lay this thread to rest. Don't want to see it floating around still when we do the 2005 exchange. ::)
Only took like 2 weeks for the package to make it down the coast from NY to SC...
Well done Kev. You're off the hook finally. But please start preparing a package NOW for the 2005 exchange, so that one can be a little more punctual. Thanks.
-
I hope I get paired with you, Coleman. :-* I guarentee you'll get somthing "special" in the box. ;D
Kevin
-
That cat?
