I haven't seen pics yet, but thought I'd start up a thread so we have one when pics surface...

Wow, looks great! I'm glad the updated the paint apps. I greatly prefer the gray to blue.

I'm probably in on this.

I prefer blue for true ROTJ coloring but in EU they're grey in earlier models so I'm fine with that over the blue-grey.  To me both display as just different timeline Interceptors.

I'll be getting this. Never actually owned an Interceptor and I missed out on the big wing TIEs.

Nice to see Amazon getting some exclusives.  With the distribution fiasco at brick & mortar retail last year, Amazon proved to be one of the more reliable retail avenues for figures.

I hope this TIE Interceptor has the new style cockpit and ejector seat.  But with Hasbro only showing mainline offerings and not exclusives, I guess that's the only image we've got to go on.

Amazon jumping in is huge...  shows a major change in Hasbro, but also just a major change in the retail landscape at large...  Totally new, should make tracking them down easier, and probably shipped for free.  Plus sponsorship dollars.

Don't forget to use our Amazon tracking link on the front page. :)  It helps us out with running the site.

My only concern with Amazon having these exclusives is how am I gonna get my MIB/MIP ones?

It's hard enough when you gotta track it down at a store, but Amazon isn't known for being a place you can shop from and be guaranteed MIP when it arrives.

I'll just order two of each and hope for the best I guess....

Hasbro has heard the complaints and have talked with Amazon about how they package figures.  They are concerned as we are that their product makes it to the customers hands in good condition.  Whether Amazon listens is another thing.

If I could waive free shipping in exchange for having someone carefully package my items with protection to ensure they arrive in as pristine condition as possible, I'd gladly do it.

I definitely understand the concerns.  But this is an issue with a number of online retailers, isn't it?  If it isn't Amazon, it's Hasbro Toy Shop, Target, WalMart, TRU.com, etc.  The only online stores that you can count on for good packing are small businesses that deal almost exclusively with collectors like EE, BBTS or Brians Toys.

Not really because with Target, WalMart and TRU I can also find their exclusives in stores, so I may not find the quantities I need, but I typically find my MIB one at the physical store and then supplement with online purchases my opener set.

Hasbro Toy Shop did make an effort in the last two years to try to ensure that the SDCC exclusives arrived in great shape. My Carbon Freeze chamber set was extremely well packaged.

And just recently, when I ordered Class I vehicles from TRU.com, they arrived well packaged and all in good shape.

The one place where NOTHING ever comes in good shape? Amazon.

Up until now, all I have ordered from them is stuff I'm going to open, so it's no big deal. With the Slave I and TIE Interceptor, I'm going to want one of each MIB so it is a big deal, hence my concern.

It's funny...  I ordered a LOT from Amazon this year...  Tons of gifts for XMas, bday's, and when the final wave hit I ordered multiple extras off them as the prices kept going down down down, and extras of the early army builders taht obviously didn't get price drops.

Free shipping was more than enough to entice me multiple times.  I just ordered something off them for my shop actually since I always wanted a snake cam.

I've NEVER gotten anything bad from them...  Ever.  It's all always arrived packed great.  We have a shipping place from them in PA.  Maybe that helps?  I dunno.

I've gotten TRU orders with stickers on them (not that I cared), and same with Target.

Wal-mart I usually do ship to store and never had a problem, but they rarely have anything to order anyway.  K-Mart, on rare occassion I order anything, has always shipped really first class packing.  Go figure right?

Amazon though, not always packed with a lot of padding but I never even got a crease on a card.

I wonder if it's not the price point?  It'd be a fair size toy and big ticket stuff seems really shakey now.

It's probably that combined with the size of the box for the full sized TIE.  Even that Target exclusive version from the TLC RED line was really big, and Hasbro had managed to scale the box down somewhat.  Even then, that box takes up a good deal of shelf space, and that costs money.

Here's a Jedi Defender linky for you guys since they're a sponsor. :x

Shameless plug, but every lil bit helps.

I'm putting an order in on this now I think.  One of my favorite ships in the trilogy and the toy's pretty damn accurate all these years later...  wrong paintjpob (not blue-grey enough) but neat for an earlier model squint in the primer colors.

It's one of the only things I'm excited about in 2013.  :-\

I pre-ordered one of these and one of the Slave I this afternoon - used the Jedi Defender links for both. A little surprised at the prices - oh well - it's the difference between two of each and one of each for me....

I'm definitely only getting one...  $45 is, eh, but I still dig it and it's the first Interceptor to use the new cockpit...  Which is miles superior in detail, so that's a selling point for some I'm sure.  I agree on the price(s).  I think Amazon's a little ream-ish on these ships...  tough to say not knowing what the MSRP's are though.  They shouldn't have cost a ton to make, but who knows. Maybe Amazon was ultra conservative on #'s they'd order?  Doesn't seem likely given their usual discounting of stuff though.  Conservative ordering doesn't just seem to fit them.

2009 release used the new cockpit.  I'd post a link but I'm lazy this computer won't let me do that (or browser).

Definitely a possibility...  Though generally their stuff isn't expensive.  Downright cheap compared to some retailers, but I'm talking just general junk.

$10.99 figures, really, compared to looking for them...  Not bad.

These exclusives are new territory for them.

I didn't realize there was an Int with the totally revamped cockpit...  How'd I miss this?  Or do I have it and can't find it?

The TLC (Red/white) version that was exclusive to TRU in 2009 has the updated cockpit. Ironically, it to sold for $49.99 (but with a pilot).

No, the 181st Elite TIE  (http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Anniversary-Elite-Interceptor/dp/B000UZ4OCA)was the TAC version. I was referring to this one (http://www.amazon.com/Tie-Interceptor-2009-Exclusive-Vehicle/dp/B002XHEPC2/ref=sr_1_29?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1372822666&sr=1-29&keywords=tie+interceptor).

Has anyone had a chance to examine one of these closely to see if there are any significant differences between this (other than the box) and previous releases?
Title: Re: Amazon Vintage TIE Interceptor
Post by: Jesse James on July 3, 2013, 02:04 PM
The deco's a lot less blue than the others if it holds up to what was shown, though the 181st TIE Int. is sorta more grey as well IIRC, but has a red stripe on it.

The cockpit is the new cockpit design which the regular Interceptor has the old one.

Otherwise the wings aren't bigger or anything, not that they needed to be...  It's basically a regular movie TIE (depending on how much you care about its color) but with the new/improved cockpit.
Title: Re: Amazon Vintage TIE Interceptor
Post by: Jeff on July 8, 2013, 12:51 PM
I think I'm going to wait on this one as well. If it turns out to be just the 2009 Legacy Collection TIE Interceptor (http://www.rebelscum.com/TLCvehTIEinterceptor.asp) in a new Vintage Collection box as most folks here are speculating, then I'll pass.

I really don't need more Interceptors at this point, unless they've made new modifications to the ejector seat cockpit that the 2009 version used. If it's new, I'll probably get suckered into buying one eventually.   ::)

Finally pulled the trigger and preordered this one. I am currently Interceptor-less, so it wasn't too hard to justify (to myself).

Still holding up on pushing the big red button on Slave One, though.
Title: Re: Amazon Vintage TIE Interceptor
Post by: Jesse James on July 8, 2013, 02:58 PM
I'm holding off too...  I'm sure I have that 2009 one somewhere.  Totally brainfarted on that one.  I'm gonna look and see, but sure I have it, and if I do, yeah, the price (for now) will deter me.  Knew I had the 181st one...  Know I have some POTJ ones.  Almost sure I have that one too.
Title: Re: Amazon Vintage TIE Interceptor
Post by: Diddly on July 8, 2013, 09:07 PM
I've never owned an Interceptor so I'll pick this up at some point, but yeah, I'm waiting too. Amazon regularly discounts stuff by $5-10 (see LEGO), so I'll wait until it hits the $40-ish range. No sense in paying premium prices for a nostalgia box.

Wasn't this $50 at TRU as well when it first came out? (This updated cockpit version.)

That version had a pilot included.  Since all figures with more than 5 joints are magically $10, that means this release is $10 higher.

My 2 Interceptors just came to my door. Both were in white mailer boxes, packed in one bigger box. Both pretty pristine. Love this ship. Now if the can only do a non-shadows regular TIE version.
Title: Re: Amazon Vintage TIE Interceptor
Post by: Pete_Fett on September 15, 2013, 08:56 AM
Mine arrived on Friday and were both packed in a bigger box, but were not in their protective white mailer boxes.

Thankfully, one of them arrived in nice shape while the other had some minor damage.

Kinda disappointed that mine didn't arrive in the white mailer boxes. I don't understand - they JUST went through this with the Slave I, why are similar mistakes being made again with this item? If Hasbro ships you the things in white protective cardboard boxes, ship them on to the customer that way.

It's not rocket science. Honestly.

I have VERY LITTLE hope of getting a set of the Droid Factory figures in MOC condition.

Post by: Darth_Anton on September 16, 2013, 10:19 AM
It's very sharp with the grey color but can't say I have a particular preference for either the grey or blue. But, once again, the grey doesn't match any of the grey ones that came before.

It's just such an awesome ship!
Title: Re: Amazon Vintage TIE Interceptor
Post by: Jesse James on September 16, 2013, 02:57 PM
Only prob with grey is that its technically eu since rotj ties are all a blue-grey color...  I'd like that in the new sculpt.  The potj one is accurate in that regard.  That said I consider the light grey just earlier paint...  Some theories have cropped up for in universe explanations and I found them plausible for a sci go universe.  There are some lighter grey ones in established EU too like games and comics so I still plan picking one up if they hit steep discounts.
Title: Re: Amazon Vintage TIE Interceptor
Post by: Darth_Anton on September 18, 2013, 09:25 AM
Really? The POTJ one is accurate color-wise? Seems a bit muted to me.

BTW, I think I'm going to get rid of two of my POTJ TIE Ints since the mold doesn't seem to quite fit in any more. It'll cut down my Interceptor fleet from 11 to 9.
Title: Re: Amazon Vintage TIE Interceptor
Post by: Jesse James on September 18, 2013, 02:57 PM
A blue-ish grey is pretty accurate...  They're quite vibrantly blue really if you look close.  Same in ESB...  ANH's are all a pale light grey color, and EU has light grey ones existing (X-Wing, TIE Fighter, comics, etc.) but ultimately no squints in the movies were that color.  Go figure.

The POTJ one may be a shade or two off, but it's far more true to the films in terms of color than other ones we've gotten so far.  Likewise, Vader's TIE is inaccurate blue-grey when it should be the light grey...  never been fixed.

That was an amazing refresher on the Interceptor.  Over the years all these versions blur together for me and I can’t keep it all straight.  I’d watch these all day long to try to remember what’s what.

Great job!

Popping the wings off of each TIE was awesome!

Awesome video! I subscribed after watching. Makes me regret never picking one of these up.

The repeated demonstration of the ejecting wings made it worth a like and a sub.

Also a bit of a chuckle.
