Well they sure managed to Frankenstein that one together huh?  At least it's kind of new but it's not really what I had in mind when I complain about the lack of new characters.

Is this a Pulse exclusive, or general release?

General I think, but I've only found a page for it on Pulse so far.

I absolutely love Andor and wanted tons more figures from the show... this however would not have been my first choice for the next figure. I'd have much rather had a NEW character, rather than a second Andor figure, but I get it. They could have at least given us screen-accurate legs/boots, the shoulder-strapped E-10 blaster rifle & the correct blaster pistol. I'd want the rest of the crew from the Aldhani raid too. I'd buy a 4 pack of them if they fixed the issues.

I really wish they just announce a whole wave at a time so that it was easier to combine orders. I ended up only getting two of this one, if it was screen-accurate and $4-$5 cheaper, I would have done several more than that.

I read Jayson saying this wasn't originally going to be announced for another week so Amazon wasn't ready but eventually it will go up.

I read Jayson saying this wasn't originally going to be announced for another week so Amazon wasn't ready but eventually it will go up.

I imagine it could have something to do with how Disney+ rolled out the first 3 episodes of ANDOR on the day it premiered on the platform.  That might have messed up some of the promotional schedule.

I like the upper part of the figure.  It looks like a good likeness of Cassian.  But I take issue with the boots and the blaster.  At this price point Hasbro should get it right the first time.  Regarding the price point?  It's interesting that the Target exclusive Axe Woves got rolled out at $16.99, and people thought that was just Target pricing an exclusive figure a little higher.  But no - it's the harbinger of Hasbro hiking the price on TVC figures to $16.99.  At this price point there should be more new sculpts in this line.  The trooper repaints are getting out of hand.

I wonder if some of the discussion around the community about how Hasbro could re-use parts to make a whole bunch of troopers resonated with Hasbro (Imperial Tank Drivers, Transport Drivers, Mudtroopers, etc), and they thought "Hey!  That's a great idea" and thought that we wouldn't notice the differences with the troopers on Aldhani.  It's only further compounded by the fact that the Black Series Cassian Andor (Aldhani Mission) was done with the correct boots.

I'm wondering - was it just not possible to kitbash the Imperial Gunner legs in order to make this figure more screen accurate?

Based on a look at the VC273 Scout Trooper cardback (https://twitter.com/yak_face/status/1604460148436905991), it looks like the rest of this wave might be...

2x Aldhani Misson Cassian
ROTJ Admiral Piett
TBB Hunter
ROTS Phase 2 Clone Trooper
TFU Starkiller (photo-real update)
1x Cal Kestis (carry-over from the last wave)

EE has this for the case pack -
1x Cal Kestis
2x Cassian Andor (Aldahani Mission)
2x TBD
1x TBD
1x TBD
1x TBD

Just a guess, but it's likely that the new ROTS Clone Trooper is the other 2x per case here?

Hunter and Piett both look pretty good in that image, especially Hunter. Piett's hat looks a little odd like it might be removable. Has Hasbro told us if Starkiller is purely a repack? I wouldn't mind if he got the Shae Visla treatment and they gave him an all-new headsculpt that actually looks like Sam Witwer.

While I do not like the 212th repaint of the new Phase 2 sculpt, I do kind of like this basic white Clone look.  I think it's kind of lame to pass him off as an Andor character, but it's not untrue so whatever I guess (kinda like when they put Fennec Shand on a TBOBF card as a cheat).

I think back in the olden days I'd have bought 4-8 of these guys at the drop now but these days ($17 each :() I think I'll get maybe two in case they ever make enough Ferrix figures to put together a little scene.

Piett... I like the new figure, but like others have said it's hard not to view him as the first of MANY re-uses of this sculpt coming (and, like Nick said in another thread the likelihood of "Capt Piett" with different rank badge on an ESB card is VERY high).

Starkiller = pass.

I like the look of Piett, but that promo shot is making me laugh.  It looks like he was farting and just **** his pants a little bit.

I would definitely buy a trooper builder pack with the white clones, but yeah, buying the single carded figures is expensive. Piett is a much-needed upgrade.

0% interest in Starkiller.

Is Piett's cap removable?

Title: Re: 2023 TVC Wave 3 (New TVC Wave 29)
Post by: Nicklab on February 2, 2023, 12:09 PM
It is removable.  They called it a "fricton fit".

There's evidently some confusion about the code cylinders.  The figure in the blister doesn't match the beauty shots for Piett.

I got a chuckle out of the blaster.  Because it looks like this Imperial Officer blaster that I only remember seeing with some select POTF2 Imperial officer figures.  I don't know if it's ever been shown on screen.

And a big ol' meh again for me...

Piett I think looks great -- HOWEVER (beating the dead horse further) -- We've known he's been coming for a while and that we will be swimming in officers soon (including the probably Piett variants). Which I am mostly happy about, but it does mean we will get these instead of other new characters.

Starkiller - Pass. I'm bummed it is a straight repack with no updates to the headsculpt. I feel like they also could have updated the cardfront logo to use the TFU logo used on the stormtrooper commander.

The Clone looks great... but I have plenty of white clones already. I may grab 1-2 but that's going to be it. I'll probably also go very light on all the future repaints.

While I'd prefer variation in body type, more imperial officers is the one place I'd like to see a mold get used a bunch.

Especially if they can use it to give us a few new ones.  Maybe they can tweak it to give us some First Order officers - Canady or Pryde would be awesome... paint it white and do a new Death Star meeting room thing...

Yularen and Tarkin are two officers in particular that I'd like with this new body. Motti is also screaming for an update, as is Veers. I hope they can possibly have new legs at least for some of them to give variations to the heights.

I am aware the Officer Onslaught is on the way. I hope they knock a bunch of identifiable faces in a 4-pack.

Motti is probably my most wanted resculpt in that field.

Watch that leg swap wish, you'll either get Bith pockets legs or General Lando legs!

That's the best case scenario.  I could also see them doing a Death Star Briefing room pack like they just did with the Cantina band.  Bonus points if they make the table.  They could even include that new Vader they're going to murder us with.

My only hope is that they can mold these in white and do a few different Andor ISB officers - Dedra, Lonni, etc.

I'm not sure I need any more OT officers.

I hope they don't do this foe Dedre... not only does she deserve the full TVC treatment, she'd be weird looking with Piett's body.

I think there's a laundry list of Imperial officers that we can expect Hasbro to take on with the new Piett body.  Moff Jerjerrod was already announced as a pipeline reveal.  As for others?

-Director Krennic is such an easy choice.  There's only 1 x 3.75" figure of Krennic.  And with the way season 1 of Andor ended?  He's likely to come back in some capacity.

-General Valin Hess - He had such a great scene in "The Believer" in season 2 of The Mandalorian.  And Hasbro has been systematically working their way through that particular episode.  Valin Hess ties that all together.

-General Veers - The most recent Veers figure dates back to 2006 in The Saga Collection.  Some people regard the TVC 1.0 AT-AT Commander as Veers.  But I think General Veers needs to be in TVC in large part because he's the officer shown on that Kenner Imperial Commander Cardback.

-Admiral Ozzel - Let's face it.  His SAGA figure is garbage.  It's almost 20 years old.  Make Ozzel!

There are a number of others from the OT that seem worth making.  Pick anyone from that Death Star conference scene, the bridge of the Executor, or the Battle of Endor.  But I think some of the ones I listed might be the priorities.

As for others from ANDOR?  Colonel Yularen, Major Partagaz and Lonni Jung seem like decent candidates.  So does the officer in command of the Imperial detachment on Ferrix.

But Dedra Meero?  She is totally deserving of new tooling.  She's a central character in ANDOR.  And there are other female Imperial officers that can be made from that tooling.  Because that seems to be the driving force behind new tooling - it's capacity to be re-used for future releases.  Moff Gideon's comm officer is one of the notable onscreen officers, and so is Taala Durith from the OWK series.  Governor Pryce from REBELS is another, albeit animated.  As for others?  There's Rae Sloane, Ysanne Isard and Juno Eclipse.  You might even expand the idea by making an Iden Versio in Imperial officer uniform instead of the Inferno Squad combat gear.

Probably.  And it seems like Hasbro really nailed Diego Luna's likeness for the new version of Cassian.  Hopefully any future ROGUE ONE versions will be on par with the ANDOR version.

I got my case of this wave last week, and I finally got around to opening it up.  Overall I think it's a great wave.  But having 6 characters in an 8 figure case is just killing me.  Since I got back into collecting both carded and loose figures I am looking for a minimum of 2 of each figure.  And this case mix presents 4 x characters who are all single packed.  Thankfully one of those is a carryforward in Cal Kestis.  But Piett and the Clone Trooper?  Come on!  And I was not going to order 2 of these cases in order to make good on that.

I see that EE is now offering single figures of Admiral Piett.  But I can't find him listed at either Hasbro Pulse or Amazon, and I will not pay EE's ridiculous shipping fees.  I'm hoping that other retailers are going to have this wave soon so that it's possible to pick up some single figures.

So far I've only opened up Cassian (Aldhani) and Hunter.  They're both solid offerings.  Hunter comes across as a little bit stylized, but it works.  And I fully expect a Clone Commando figure to be based on this buck in the not so distant future.

Cassian is reasonably well done.  The issue with the boots is annoying.  But the easy thing that Hasbro could have done with this figure that they didn't?  The should have included the E10 blaster rifle.  The tooling exists, and this accessory really should have been included with Cassian.

Got my Cassian Andor (Aldhani Mission) today from Amazon.  Not only does he have the wrong boots like so many others have mentioned, but I love the fact that they couldn't even be bothered to toss in the gun he's using on the cardback and cheaped out with just the tiny pistol accessory.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the 3.75" stuff but $17 for what is clearly a kitbash of other Imperial parts (which we will see re-used no doubt on Ferrix Imperials, the armor probably on a new Veers figure, etc) with the wrong costume bits and light on accessories is not really doing it for me today.  :-\

This doesn't make any sense.  Why wouldn't they put in a regular imperial blaster?  Seems like they gave a summer intern the project for kitbashing this and the final quality control.  Weak effort on this one.

I've got a spare Hunter if you're feeling like a trade.

So far the only figure from this wave that I've seen in a store was Cassian (Aldhani Mission).  The short-packing of 4 figures in this wave is in the process of slowly blowing up in everyone's faces.

As for Cassian?  I really wish Hasbro could have figured out the right way to do the boots.  Hell, the boots on the Cantina band member look more like the ones those Aldhani Imperial troops wore than what Hasbro gave this figure.  And I'm equally disappointed that Hasbro could bring themselves to sculpt the E10 blaster rifle that the Aldhani cell had.

I’ve seen remnants of this wave about 8 times now and it’s always the Andor figures and Piett, sometimes Cal too. But it is impossible to find Hunter Starkiller or the Clone. Super frustrating, because I refuse to pay $16.99 for him online.

GrandMoffNick just pointed out to me that the Phase II Clone Trooper is finally on Amazon for pre-order.  The default setting tries to get you to buy from a third party seller for $35, but if you change the seller you can pre-order from Amazon for normal inflated retail.

Found a third Phase II Clone at Target today... they're still selling them for $12.99 for some reason, and I'm not complaining.  It's the only reason I'm buying multiples.  I've found 3 so far, would buy 3 more if I can find them at that price.

Nice, I still have yet to see this wave, with the exception of Cassian, at retail at all. I preordered the wave (mixed between Amazon, Pulse, & EE) and got all of my preorders a month ago, with the exception of the clone. I still have not seen him anywhere yet. Hopefully EE will get him in soon.
