The Black Series 3.75" / Re: Black Series Rumors
« on: July 14, 2014, 12:27 PM »
These rumor lists sound way too good to be true. Including the previously revealed Toryn Far and Snowspeeder Wedge waves, that would mean 40 or so figures will be hitting in the next six months. I don't foresee that happening at all. Of course if all of these figures really are coming out, I doubt they will be available anywhere except online retailers.

Part of me hopes these lists are legit though, as I would love to get the Clone Wars clone figures. I recall two were announced at Toy Fair (Doom and Wolffe) but Thorn and finally getting Rex would be a sweet bonus.

Boushh Leia makes me think Carbonite Han upgrade may be closer than we thought.  :)

Among other JP goodies.  :-X

I only hope that any potential Carbonite Han comes with an actual Han figure AND a retooled carbon block from the SDCC Jar-Jar figure. That would be a nice way to make up for the POS Yoda statue with fabric bag, so of course it won't happen.

I can't wait for the long overdue Captain Rex, and the R5 should also be nice. Oddly enough I'm also looking forward to the Wampa attack Luke. I have the TVC Hoth version displayed with the mask on the Tauntaun, so I don't mind getting a variant of that outfit to display "on foot".

I hate loving this line. I got the Augurts trooper and Winged Victory sets in the mail last week and both are very cool. The quality on the figures was surprising. I did not expect $25 figures to be so... toy-like I guess.

Jesse, right now I'm in the same boat as you and considering adding a vehicle to my collection. I should refrain though as I know it would be a slippery slope.

I'm not so sure about this concept, but I plan to pick up a few blind bagged figures and maybe a smaller set to test the line. The images immediately made me think of gaming miniatures and Christmas village scenes... not sure if that's a good reaction. On the plus side this should be a great way to build a massive zombie horde without breaking the budget or taking over the entire display space.

They've hit ebay finally. Hopefully, these are factory rejects, because Leatherneck and Lady Jaye are looking pretty naff. Though it's good to see that the wave 2 stuff is getting produced.

At this point I'm used to having to look thru quite a few figures to find near-perfect paint, especially on the faces. The missing camo paint apps on Leatherneck and lack of extra details on the Viper are much more disappointing. It would be nice if the final products look better (like the press images from BBTS/TRU online)  but I won't hold my breath.

The Arctic BAT vs. Shipwreck set is looking terrific though. I love that Hasbro packed in the sweet SAW machine gun from Ultimate Roadblock.

That cancelled online case had 3x Fetts and eight figures total. Hopefully that ratio will be what arrives at Walgreens and each store will get at least one case.

Looks like it is official:

Those are some neat exclusive items... only downside is that they are exclusives. The Egg Chamber is something I would be very interested in if it hits normal retail, especially with other companies making video game Aliens and Colonial Marine-esque figures.

The Ezekiel figure looks good. Hopefully it will be easy to acquire like the Negan figure.

I can't say I mind getting more comic figures as exclusives since we have only been getting one wave of mass retail figures each year, but I also feel that the exclusive route would be the only way for minor TV characters like T-Dog or Martinez to get made. It probably is a licensing issue though as Skybound is providing the exclusive, not AMC.

Thus far the figures haven't really appealed to me, but I could be on board with some sort of spaceship vehicle or playset. I look forward to seeing what Super 7 unveils.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases

Whaaaa? The Five Below near me hasn't restocked Clone Wars in a very long time. I'll have to check this week because some extra cheap troopers are always nice.

That Fett looks great! I love the 4" version of the concept design, and I'll be happy to add the 6" incarnation to my collection.

The prototype armor makes sense for this kind of exclusive.  I think the ROTJ armor might be better suited to some sort of a multipack.

ROTJ Fett with a repacked Jabba and Slave Leia would make a slick SDCC Exclusive for TRU next year. On a more serious note, are there major differences between the ESB and ROTJ Boba Fett costumes that would require new parts? I know the Fett got different 4" molds for ESB and ROTJ, but I never looked too closely for major differences in the outfits.

72
Since this set is a TRU exclusive it should be available at stores as well. That's how they have handled most SDCC exclusives in the past. Now that I remember that I'm bummed HTS didn't get this Cantina pack, with the Jabba going to TRU. Ah well.

73
The Jabba set is offered thru Hasbrotoyshop, so black series collectors attending SDCC have been blessed with two separate lines to wait on.

Can't say I've ever seen a cheap (or simply normal priced) figure in a pharmacy, sooooooo....  Yeah, careful what you wish for mayb?  :-\

I ran into a 2012 Legends Qui-Gon a few months ago in a Walgreens.  It was $15.99

$15.99?!? That's Rite Aid pricing by me. Walgreens is the cheapest of the drug stores in my area.

Got the Knifehead today! I am disappointed by the poor construction (soft plastic and hollow parts), but the insane level of cool once this thing is assembled and displayed more than makes up for the shortcomings.

I dunno, it feels pretty hefty to me, but some of the stiff joints on mine make me nervous, given Neca's track record of QC. I can't really get much range of motion out of the "big arms" it seems. Dude is a little front heavy too.

That's odd, I'm more worried about joints just giving out over time than I am for them breaking. Also I should probably clarify that the construction isn't awful as I haven't had anything break (knock on wood), it just seems like much lesser-quality compared to the Gipsy figure.

Anyway, here are some pics:
