The Expanse

I've kind of been sucked back into the Sci Fi channel and started watching the Expanse.  The first two episodes have aired, and the pilot is readily available on Youtube.  It looks pretty good so far.
This is the way.

I started watching this and had my DVR set to record the series.  I got through the pilot after two sittings and then started on the second episode and watched about 15 minutes before I was bored to tears and cut it off.  I was really hoping for something that would suck me in, but no such luck.

This is the show that has resurrected the SyFy channel for me.

Is anyone else watching this show?

If this is the show I'm thinking it is, I watched a couple of episodes last season and I just could not get into it.  I really, really wanted to.  I may try to get back into it.

You know, I saw a few ads for this, but couldn't recall the name or what channel it was on whenever I had time to actually watch it.  Do you have a brief summary of what it is without major spoilers?  I'm still trying to catch up on Arrow and Flash, and would like to check Legion at some point, but I'd check this out if the premise is good.

I believe it was a few episodes of Caprica for me until I tired of it.

Yeah, that was probably it for me too.  Looks like about seven years since that show started.

"12 Monkeys" and "Face Off" both very good shows

The Expanse is pretty good...if not very user friendly sometimes. Those belter accents and teeny screen fonts that are hard to read...tycho station, jupiter

Most of SyFy's shows are mediocre, but not as bad as some have been. Dark Matter and Killjoys are okay. Incorporated was decent. Defiance was fairly good but got canned after 3 seasons.

How are they when compared to the Sharknado movies?  ;)

Is that the Syfy standard of measuring good show?

Oh yeah, I guess I've seen parts of all the Sharknado movies, so I guess I have watched some SyFy in the past few years.

I'll admit, the first Season is a bit of a slow burn.  Basically, humanity has colonized the solar system.  Earth and Mars are the superpowers, with the people in the asteroid belt (the belters) caught in between them.  There's a third faction out there that is trying to get Earth and Mars into a full scale war...but you don't find out why until the end of the first season.
This is the way.

One of the shows I binged this summer was The Expanse.  I kept hearing about it but never took the dive until COVID gave me so much time this summer.

This is such a well-crafted TV show, really loved it.  Looking forward to watching the new Season 5 episodes this weekend! :)
