Star Wars Action Figures / Daigo's SW customs and dioramas
« on: January 4, 2006, 11:14 AM »
I did a little spray-painting and made an engine/grille for a vintage cloud car I picked up cheap.  This'll hold me until (if) they release one!

I could use any incomplete vintage or modern ewoks, OTC Cloud Car pilot heads or whole figures, and VOTC Luke or Ben incomplete.

I thought of something else: for the past 2 years, I've been a graduate assistant to a professor of kinesiology, and have made a sorta reputation for tutoring his very difficult physiology class.  Well, most of the time, students would meet me as a group in the lab I called my office.  But twice before, 2 different female students asked if I could meet them at a coffee shop or bookstore near home and would pay a tutoring fee (sounds funny, but was completely legit: one girl was engaged, the other married, and they insisted on meeting and paying me).  Ok, so I go both times, and they had the nerve to bring along their guy who sits off to the side.  Now, I don't know if it's the girl's idea or the guy's, but either way it annoys me to no end.  You're going to request that I drive somewhere to meet you, and bring your guy?  Or, is he so insecure that he has to come along?  I'd much rather trust my girl to be professional about things and find out that she's not and leave her, than to follow her around all the time like a desperate puppy to insure nothing goes further with any male acquaintances.

I was watching Sin City the other day, and the scenes with Jessica in the car, despite the intoxicating stripper scenes, are probably my favorite.  She has an impossible beauty: man, her full lips, golden skin, bedroom eyes, and the way her hair frames her face in those shots...

Agreed- I just don't think the senators or other robed folk should have articulation that is either 1)useless due to the robes over them or 2)detracts from the look because of some other robe option like slits up the sides or whatever.

1) People without kids who call their pets their kids.  Sure, you try to convince me that an animal that you fill a bowl with food once a day and goes outside or in a litterbox to poop is ANYTHING like sleepless nights for weeks because your daughter is teething and has a flu at the same time, you have to bathe every day, make several meals for and feed it to them, and you can't leave alone for any considerable amount of time.

2) Ooh, this is going to be a sensitive issue, but I really get bugged about couples who are obviously disproportionately good-looking to each other.  I have a theory that this current generation of teens and 20-somethings have an incredibly high ratio of great looking girls to average or not good looking guys, so they are forced to end up with one.  Hey, I'm superficial!  I know that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" but men will always be more concerned about how their girl looks than the other way around.

Watto's Junk Yard / Finally back for good!
« on: December 31, 2005, 11:25 AM »
Sorry to start a thread about this, but just wanted to say I'm glad to be back with you guys and girls after too long an absence!  Me and the family just got back into the house after 3 1/2 months living with the bro-in-law after hurricane Katrina.  We didn't have any significant damage other than rising waters into the rooms a couple of inches (house is raised about 3 feet), but the city decided to confiscate our electricity meter due to our proximity to Lake Pontchartrain.  We got it back with some pleading, and now my computer is back in my home too.  I'll have to bring over a few threads from customs that I made and posted at-cough,cough-RS-cough, cough, sorry!  Anway, missed J-Mac and all the rest!

Anton, the only thing I can suggest is that the worst of the problems began on the tail end of the storm, when the levees broke.  Because the storm moved slightly east, the wind damage was negligible compared to Gulfport and Biloxi (have you seen those pics?!), so it wasn't a real disaster until the flooding after the winds passed.  As for rebuilding the city- what can I say, it is an older city than most, and has more occupants than cities of this typical size... hurricanes are nothing new, but this level of devastation hasn't happened in modern day.  I think the fact that the French Quarter is still there proves that the city hasn't seen this kind of problem in a couple hundred years.

Hey everybody- just want to let you all know that me and my family are safe; we live in Mandeville, which is just on the north side of Lake Pontchartrain.  My house was flooded slightly, but there is no power for probably the next week at least.  We're living in a rented house close to Baton Rouge.  I'll check in every once in a while until things calm down!  Greg

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: 12" upgrades I've been busy with...

Just did a couple more:

The Luke is a Dooku body with lots of clothing modifications, the Dengar has a repainted face, shorter neck, and shorter arm plates, and the DS Droid is spraypainted gloss black (instead of steel gray) and the goggles are chrome.

1182
Those are some fantastic droids!  This is my attempt at Red Leader's droid; Iwasn't brave enough to paint the sliver/white lines that frame the black marks, but I'm pretty pleased with it.  By the way, the bottom half is not painted, and the feet are cut off for a deeper fit in the socket.

Thanks for the pics!  I think I'm passing on the Han; I just don't think it's as good as the Han Stormie (or as representative of the character).  I absolutely love the Boushh, though, and with helmet on, it's PERFECT.

Thanks guys- yes, it's an older custom I had on RS a while back.  By the way, it is actually film-accurate because I used a ROTJ pic for reference.  Here's another pic with some rocks I found in the yard:
