Watto's Junk Yard / The Cape - Anyone Watching This?
« on: January 18, 2011, 01:37 PM »
Is anyone sticking with this? Do you find it terrible or enjoyable? Or both?

I'm mostly sticking around for Summer Glau and because I enjoy Keith David's acting. I still can't make up my mind if I like it or not though. I already gave up on that atrocious No Ordinary Family show, so I'm not eager to replace it with something equally bad.

Curious what others think...

Vintage Kenner / Question About Ewok Battle Wagon - Pls Help!
« on: October 26, 2010, 02:30 PM »
I hate to clutter up the forum with another thread, but I wasn't sure where else to post this.

I have a burning question about the Ewok Wagon that I have tried to research exhaustively but to no avail. It's really bugging me, so I am hoping someone that has one of these can help answer this:

RE: the side panels -are they exactly the same? I mean, literally.

If you look closely, you can see there is a groove at one end of the panel. It seems to me that both grooves should face inwards, but on the one I bought loose, the groove faces in on one and out on the other. It seems very odd Kenner would have sculpted it this way, unless they were really trying to cut corners and save money. Is there truly a "left" and "right" panel? Or are they identical?

I have looked at the photo archive on JTA and it appears they have one facing in and one facing out on the one pictured. (IE: seems to support the fact that they ARE identical)

Also, I have been scanning eBay auctions for months now, and although I have seen numerous auctions for side panels (there are 2 listed right now), I have never seen the one that I "think" I would need.

It seems to work ok - I can affix both panels in the correct orientation on mine, it just bugs me about that end groove. It's too assymmetrical.

Anyone have a clue on this? TIA!

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Clone Wars Wave 20 (aka 2011 Wave 1?)

CW39 Hondo Ohnaka (Re-Pack)
CW40 Obi-Wan Kenobi
CW41 Clone Trooper Hevy (Training Armor)
CW42 Cad Bane w/TODO-360
CW43 R7-A7

Still seeking confirmation of there is anything new about Obi-Wan or Cad Bane, suspect both are previously uncarded versions from the deluxe sets...

Very bummed that they have still not found a slot for the Cad Bane in Clone Armor figure.  :(

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / CW "Battle of Orto Plutonia" Battle Pack

First reported on RS, now pictured courtesy of Sandtroopers:

http://www.sandtroopers.com/sandwatch/hasbro/20100908/target0.html

Looks to be a straight re-pack of the Talz, Snowbi-Wan, Snow Ani, and either Rex or the generic snowclone that's coming with the new Freeco Speeder.

Kind of a day late and dollar short if you ask me. That episode is practically a distant memory. Where are they gonna slip this in - after the Mandos and Arc troopers packs? Seems like an odd choice, but whateves.

The Vintage Collection / The Street Date Debate
« on: June 29, 2010, 10:38 PM »
I was talking to a friend of mine who works at TRU at lunchtime and he said they actually got cases of the new vintage stuff on the truck today. He checked it out but they could not put them out until August 6th like the box indicates. Looks like they mean business with this street date stuff.

Still, at least it's shipping to the brick and mortars...I wonder when Target and K-Mart are due for theirs?

According to RS, TCW12-19 are all re-packs. (The photos seem to confirm this numbering as well) So hopefully the first 3 Fall Waves will be 4 figures apiece, mostly new stuff.

I know Wave 2 was rumored to be all repacks too, but I can't remember what thread that was in...

Jedi News UK has info up on their front page about the new TCW Mail Away figure for Fall 2010, none other than the estimable Sergeant Bric.

Can't go wrong with more clones, I guess.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / The Clone Wars: Best of 2009
« on: December 27, 2009, 07:49 PM »
Figured the line deserves its own thread in the appropriate forum.

It's a bit tricky to make a definitive statement because for the most part I am a strict non-opener, but I actually started buying extras this year because some of the swag was so cool.

Best TCW figure: Luminara Unduli

Best TCW vehicle: Octuptarra Droid (finally bought an extra and put it together X-Mas day, what a marvelous design!)

What did you guys really like this past year?

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Clone Wars General Battle Pack Thread
« on: December 22, 2009, 10:14 AM »
So I searched for an existing thread on this topic and found none. Mods - please feel free to merge if I am in error.

The first wave of TCW Battlepacks for 2010 is now In Stock and available to order from all the major e-tailers. (Brian's Toys, BBTS, EE, etc)

"Holocron Heist" and "Jedi Showdown" appear to be straight repacks, as has been speculated elsewhere.

I'd love to hear from anyone who plans on ordering these, or better yet, if anyone finds these in an actual brick and mortar store.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / CW "Rishi Moon Outpost Attack" Battle Pack
« on: October 12, 2009, 10:36 AM »
I was really excited to see pics of the 2 new figs on the front page. Commando Droid Captain and "Shiney" look pretty sweet.

Any speculation on when these will show up next year, what wave they will be a part of, who else might be included?

I am thinking this will probably be the Wave after Aayla and Hondo (Wave 12?). So maybe next spring?

Gotta throw Palps in there pretty soon too, and plenty of bounty hunters to choose from now...

Vintage Kenner / Death Squad Commander - HELP!
« on: September 12, 2009, 11:23 PM »
I have a question about this vintage figure.

I have had one since back in the day but I wanted another since my copy has some black paint splashed on his chest from God knows where.

I finally picked one up recently but was really disappointed when I actually sat down to inspect it. It appears to be a much lower grade figure than my original, possibly even a fake or repro.

The 2 things that really stand out when compared to my original are the leg stance and helmet paint job. The one I just got has a wider leg stance than my original. And the helmet paint job on that one seems pretty crude by comparison. The paint appears too thick and glossy. On my original there is clear detailing at the base of the skull where he has different color hairline. But on the one I just got the paint is just slapped on there sloppily and there is no detailed hairline visible.

Of course I went to check the stamp and it says 1977 but it appears in a slightly different location on the figure's leg than mine.

So what gives? Did I get ripped off? Or did Kenner's production really drop of in quality at some point with successive waves? I am really leaning towards returning this to the seller it sucks so much.

Has anyone else noticed any subtle differences with this character?
