Don't really read those books but in the next book he should die. Mara Jade was such an important character if I were to write the next book I would make him duel Luke then die.

I saw this today - knowing from her prominence on the cover she was pretty much doomed.  They have gone downhill since Tim Zhan, and this pretty much seals the deal.   :(

SPOILERS BELOW:

I just finished the book.....damn it anyways.  I love Chewie, was my favorite character and bam-they kill him off, but I still have this new character - Mara Jade and now BAM again.  I didn't even like the way she died - a poison dart??? Come on-a dart????  I knew she would end up dead as soon as I saw her on the cover of the book.  I was hoping she would turn into a spirit form and come back to give guidence every now and again but no such luck.  I was never a big fan of Karen Traviss's writing but she does a good job with Fett and family (which was about the only good thing about the book).  Bah..... :'( :'( :'(

I have been reading EU sincethe Thrawn Trilogy, and IMO I don't mind them killing off characters. They have to die sometime. And if they escape EVERY situation, then there is no dramatic tension.

I just started reading legacy books but they don't make sacrifice on paperback >:( so we have to waste money on the same back with a harder cover. i looked on amazon for paperback but no.

The first, fifth, and ninth novels will start out as hardcovers, but will eventually come out in softcover.  Around a year or so after the hardback comes out.

Don't you think main characters need to die sometimes? I'll miss Mara and I miss Chewie but if no one important ever dies where is the drama. To say it's going down hill because people die makes no sense to me. Thankfully they aren't all written for 2 year olds.
