Here is our latest group project. The idea behind this one is to make your totally pimped out ultimate version of Jango Fett. Get creative with this one. Add whatever accessories you want to make the ultimate version of Jango. Give him flame throwers. Give him grappling hooks. Give him a bounty capture claw and missile rack (like hasbro would do). Just make sure he is easily recognizable as Jango.
As for all group projects, please make sure to post plenty of reference pictures and lots of work in progress shots. Please do not submit pictures of figures that you made before this project started unless they are examples of a certain technique or example of something you are trying to duplicate. This is NOT a casting call for old figures.
Final figures will be due on July 31st and will be included in the group project entry thread. Let's get cracking.

Awesome, I am glad that we are doing this... he's such a cool character yet never got the love that he deserves from Hasbro.
:)
-
Very cool indeed! Could you by any chance supply a reference picture of Jango in his apartment clothes? :D

I thought this was pretty cute.

AAAAWWWW........ :)
-
Ive already got the base figure. Does anyone have an extra Pilot jango? Or just the head? I can probably start work on this tonight. Ill post it in the needs list too.
-
I'm not sure how I am going to go about this... but I am leaning towards using a VOTC Fett as the base for it.
:)
-
Dremel the helmet from the Kamino escape jango a bit so it'll fit over the Slave 1 Pilot head (or take an EVO clone head :p) on the VOTC body, or just boil/pop the final battle legs onto the VOTC body...
OR... (and this is REALLY original)
Repaint the Titanium Boba! LOL ;D
-
Yall KNOW I'm in. Finally a mando group project lol. I'll get started as soon as I finish Commander Cody and that other mando I was working on.
-
here is some work in progresson the SA jango. it is still in the beginning stages and needs to be cleaned up a bit but i think that so far it looks really cool. the legs, in my opinion are going to be the hardest part of the articulation process due to the armor and holsters. i had to cut the pegs down on the inside of the legs to straighten them out. i will probably put a pin in the leg to get some articulation, otherwise i have to glue it in. let me know what you guys think and if you have any suggestions
parts used:
kamino thighs
geonosis arena battle lower legs
boba fett feet

-
that looks really good, are you going to use the votc boba fett fett uper body?
-
brisk,
i will most likely use a kamino jango upper body and just add some articulation to the elbows and wrists using some of the newer GI Joe parts.
thanks, ryan.
-
Well, I've got a sneek preview Jango sitting in my fodder bag that I will be cutting off his armor. Guess what I'm going to use for a body? ??? I also have a head from my Commander Cody that I will be making a cast of.
-
Looking forward to it Phurby :). I'm thinking Pilot legs w/added articulation, a VOTC fett body, and I'm kinda at a loss on the head, I can't decide between pilot head, kamino escape head, and Cody head.
-
Im going to attempt to have changeable heads on mine. I know I can pull it off if I can get the heads.

I'm guessing he's a microman ;D
-
Been enjoying seeing/hearing people's progress, though alas, I've made none of my own. :( Is there anyone out there who could direct me to a photo of Jango in his plain old apartment outfit, in which we can see his entire outfit? That is, not just his top, as in this photo? (http://jedinet.com/multimedia/cpg132/displayimage.php?album=359&pos=3)
Looking forward to seeing the finished projects! Much success to all! :)

Here is my Jango Fett work in progress, I doubt that I am going to add any more articulation as I do not want to botch this one. I am A-Ok with the knee's and feet not being all articulated. I used the VOTC Boba Fett and the Pilot Jango, a dremel (head does not rotate, something I am ok with as well) as well as some crazy-ass glue. I will update with pictures when I apply the paint etc...

What head did you use? It looks good.
-
Kamino Jango head, I chopped and dropped it in place. I think I gave him a sole patch years ago ;D

<in best Ed McMann voice> You are correct sir.
Good use for parts there Stormtripper. He's going to come out very well.

Dude Phruby, you are a bit late, he's done, check out his custom page. :D

Double post here, here is my complete Jango..

That looks awesome stormtripper! One minor quibble tho...the blue is a little TOO bright/vibrant for jango...it was almost a purpley/bluish gray, for the bodysuit at least, I like the way you managed to make the Boba and Jango parts mesh though.
-
Dude Phruby, you are a bit late, he's done, check out his custom page. :D
That's why I have a secretary. :P
Very well painted stormtripper. I agree that the suit is a little too bluish but you go with the paints you have when you don't want to take the time mixing.
-
That did turn out very well storm, I think a wash of grey will tone down the blue and you'll be straight.
Nice parts choice.

Ditto. Very nice work.

That looks great Stormtripper!

That Jango is top notch. I really like how the armour turned out. What color/brand of paint did you use for it? I've tried plain silver on mine and it looks off.
-
Here's my Jango:
Updated version

-
That looks really good! Is quite a bit of it sculpted? Wow, really good work! I"m sure this will put my entry to shame!
:)
-
Hey Chewie,
Thanks for the compliments. All of the leg armor and most of the holsters was scuplted using premo and epoxy putty.
-
Here's something different... My vintage style Jango Fett. I made this a couple years ago.
-
My microman arrived today. I guess I should get the dremel out and get cracking or this will end up like my microman Scorch. :-[
-
Started on mine today. Might have it up tonight, keeping fingers crossed.
:)
-
Whoo Hoo I got this one up before the deadline! Been so busy around here so I'm glad to get this done. I hope I didn't do too much of a rush job on it. His paint looks a little darker than it really is... seems to look a bit better in person.
helmet - Gentle Giant Bust Up
torso - VOTC Boba Fett
shoulders/biceps - VOTC Boba Fett
forearms - Gentle Giant Bust Up
legs - SAGA Jango Fett
jetpack - Gentle Giant Bust Up
After assembled, heavily repainted then given a wash and the sealed with matte acrylic sealer spray.
:)
-
I wasn't really too happy with how the armor looked... liked the color, but thought it didn't look like I wanted it to. So I repainted it a bit, and this pic looks more like what the figure looks like in person.

:)
-
I do like the repainted version better. It seem cleaner to me.
-
Chewie, Jango looks alot better the second time around.
Very nice work.
-
Wow guys all those Jango's look great! It's cool because each one has its own look and feel yet all remain very much Jango-ish:)
After seeing so many cool Jango's lately and seeing how the Group Project is Jango Fett I figured I would bust my butt and finish mine. It's not entirely finished, but will give you a good idea:) For the helmet I'm using one of Glassman's great casts. I will probably repaint his 'back-up' jetpack as well since I'm more partial to it. his pistols I'm finishing up too.
My first SW-related custom was a Jango Fett back in 2001 (or thereabouts) and so making this was kinda special for me and so I'm also including a pic of the original. . .please bare in mind i was but a padawan at the time, hehe.
Recipe:
Base: VOTC Fett
Boots: Jango Fett
Jetpack: VOTC Fett
Holsters: Preview Jango Fett
Head: SAGA2 Jango Fett
Collar, Shoulder armor 'trim' & crotch addition: sculpted
Straps: Styrene
Helmet: Glassman's awesome removeable helmet

And the original. . .:)

thats easily the best jango I have ever seen, without question. WOW that makes mine look novice! :o
-
Aeseven - that looks AWESOME. This is going to sound totally perverted, but can you provide a close up of the detailing around the, uh, "crotch-area" It looks you've you've got some amazing details in the holsters, straps, etc..
-
Beautiful AE77, Just beautiful.
Did you sculpt over the legs of VOTC fett?
I'm still deciding how i tackle the legs.
As always, stunning work.
-
Excellent work guys! Just a reminder that this group project ends on tuesday.
-
Here's mine, I just need to get around to ordering his helmet.

Also here is my entry for the Group Project - Jango Fett. I know this isn't nearly the "Ultimate Jango Fett" but it suits my purposes. I can't compete with the great looking Jangos so far in this challege. I took a stab at him as a prisoner (without his armor). I hope to include this version in my photonovel.
I did paint up some armor but it is not set to fit him.
Recipe is very basic
Head - Jango from the Saga line (not sure which one even)
Body - Han Solo in Carbonite (Saga 2)
-
Now there is thinking outside the box Brent! That's a great idea.
-
Dang it brentS... I was going for the removable armor jango.... you stole my thunder!! :P
Great work, he does look like he's got a thermal detonator in his cheeks. I guess thats from hollowing?
Great concept. Beautiful paint colors. great work.
I barely had time to work on this, but i started... We will see if any miracles happen tonight.
I chose to try my hand at the Pilot jango head sculpt without the headgear.
I made a wax cast , then sculpted the rest of his head.
It surprised me how much i thought this ended up looking just like the EVO epIII clone head, when i didnt think
the evo head looked like jango at all.
I then hollowed it to fit onto a ball joint.
Here is the first cast.
Sorry for the blurry pics, i was rushing. He's the head cast.
and the armor i was going after...

I wouldn't quite call my armor as "removable" I simply painted up a piece of the deluxe jango armor to make sure people didn't forget that he was still Jango.
I've gotten a lot of funny comments about his cheeks. Yes, you are all correct, this is a side reaction of hollowing out the face. I might try to make the ball joint a little smaller and give him back is natural cheekbones.
I was very pleased how well the painting on this one came out. I think its believable that could be what the jumpsuit looks like underneath the armor :)
-
Fantastic set of Jangos we got for this group project. I'll post them all in the GP entry thread.
-
Well no miracles visted my house last night...
I did get more work on the figure done, I will get him done soon.
-
I'm still amazed on how well your casting comes out. It looks perfect everytime. I still make a mess but I do occasionly get a decent cast. I've used up my first set of silicone. At least the liquid plastic doesn't get wasted as fast. I've got to buy more supplies.
-
I don't mean to hijack this thread but its about to roll off the screen anyway. I just ordered some new RTV to try making 2-piece molds. I've been sculpting/customizing some more Galactic Heros figures and I want to make casts of them before I paint them. My nephew's love these figures and I think they'd make cool birthday and christmas gifts. Anyway, back to the sort-of topic. I'm looking forward to trying to make some decent 2-piece molds but I'm expecting to struggle mightly. Glassman makes this look sooo easy :)
-
Oh believe me they arent perfect everytime... I wish. This one came out great.
When i rush, or try to do too may pieces at once, is when i get air bubbles.
-
that's a sweet looking jango mod, Glassman! I've been wondering when someone was going to use that face sculpt (which is my opinion is the best representation of temuera morrison's face)!
Once i get to finishing my jango, I'll post it up :P
-
Better pics of my jango head.
Here is the wax sculpt and the plastic cast comparison.
I aslo wanted to do a jango fett with the most articulation. So i thought of the most articulated figure...
Agrueable Han Solo votc.... So I started to work with that...
I dremeled off all protruding details, and then sculpted on a flightsuit.
I also went back to the Jango fet head, I hollowed this to fit a ball joint. I cast pieces of the Deluxe jango and
used one of the imprefect casts from when i was selling Mandalore helmets. A littlle bubble filling and its a perfect helmet ready to paint.
I just need to sculpt the armor, holster and belts. Hoping to keep them removable.
-
Thats gonna be one hell of a Jango when its finished Glassman.
Hows yours coming along Phurby I was realy looking forward to seeing that one.
-
Thanks KD, I am looking forward to phrubys version too.
-
He is coming along pretty well. No pictures though. I'm waiting on a delivery of silcone for more casting.
-
Listen to you Paul, You sound like me now.... :D
Isnt it fun!!!
My order arrived today.
