Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: April 27, 2006, 12:06 PM »
Drilling more oil won't do anything to help prices when we don't have any excess refining capacity to put more gas on the market.

Aren't the oil companies going to use their billions in profits to build more refineries?

 ;)

I know you already know this but why would they want to take their huge profits and then build refineries that would drive the prices down and reduce their profits?

Sorry about omingmak Jeff, but he should know better than to get in the way of the black gold.

Didn't know what you meant until I saw this:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/27/gas.rebate/index.html

Stupidest crap ever... just like stimulating the economy with a $300.00 tax cut check.

This is a shady attempt at getting public support for a bill that will backdoor us into drilling in wild-life preserves:

"However, the GOP energy package may face tough sledding because it also includes a controversial proposal to open part of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to oil exploration, which most Democrats and some moderate Republicans oppose."

Shameless.

Well you can't get the stickers and orderform without opening up the clamshells - which I suppose would be possible to do via theft, but I'd guess the guy just isn't intersted in the Lucas and wants to recoup the costs of his VTSC purchases.  The shipping costs aren't all that outrageous for Priority mail with confirmation.

The problem is, that he could put those in an envelope with a stamp for 40 cents.

If the old pill-popping windbag says it, it must be true...

Saga Collection '06 / Re: VOTC/VTSC - Buying Extras?
« on: April 26, 2006, 10:50 PM »
I bought...a few... extra Stormtroopers last time through.

I have 8 open Biker Scouts this time - if I find more in stores I'll probably only pick up 2 to 4 more.

The breakdown:

VOTC:

02 Han
02 Chewie
02 Fett
02 Leia
02 Luke
02 Han
02 Ben
02 Threepio
02 Yoda
02 Vader
02 Lando
45 Stormtroopers

VTSC
02 Tuskens - would like to get 2 more
02 Greedo
02 Han
02 Luke
09 Biker Scouts - would like to get 2-4 more.

Could have been, but it wasn't if you believe RayRob's story - he got very mad about it at the time.  Could have been an act I guess.

Let's all just call our representatives and tell them how we feel about George Bush and the idea of him getting impeached.

Don't look now (and I'm sure it won't last the evening) but I'm half a point away from going from worst to first.

Is Harden on the hook for the runs that Calero gave up?

Saw that...  I'm having an up and down afternoon...

Arroyo throws 8 innings of 1-hit, shutout ball with 8 K's and 2 BB's and will earn his fourth win any minute now...

Isringhausen comes in and gives up a homerun in the ninth with 2 outs...
So now I'm hoping that he can somehow get a W out of it...  The good news is that Pujols is about to come up with 2 men on and one out in the bottom of the ninth.

Edit:  and Pujols just drove in the winning run - so my day just got a little better.

Honestly having a 'no politics' rule here is an honorable idea of a rule here. Unfortunately, it's seriously ineffective. I've seen so many breaches of that rule in my time here at JD(less than a year) and from what I noticed(including yesterday..) that you can have 2 differnet folks in here take the same 'political' stance on something in different threads and only one gets commented on-depends on your popularity I guess ::).

Every now and then, we'll let something political go as long as it doesn't turn into a republican vs. democrat kind of thing.  We don't want to be the iron clad destroyers of all threads serious in nature.  So things that are too overtly political get shut down, and the things - like this thread, which was posed as a call to arms no matter what your beliefs are, stay open.

But everyone watches this type of thing to make sure it doesn't cross any lines.

It's not a popularity contest.

Word has it Lucasland let Rayrob see a few early designs they were thinking about going with for these t-shirts, but he leaked them all in a chat room one night, and they were none too pleased about it.

But RayBob asked for all those anonymous people in that chat room, who could have been anyone, anywhere, with any motive and who'd never have to answer to him ever, to keep those t-shirt designs a secret.

So it's not his fault.
