The Black Series 3.75" / Retail Prices/Sales/Discounts
« on: October 28, 2013, 09:11 AM »
Half off $15 groupon. Gotta follow these directions as it is tough to find (well, it was for me). This works at all locations but when you do your search put in Shreveport for your location and then type in the search toys"r"us exactly like I wrote it. good luck:

Other Toy Lines / NECA Aliens/Prometheus
« on: December 17, 2012, 01:01 PM »
So, yeah....  I think NECA might have me on this line too....

Definitely buying Hicks and Hudson and the Warrior alien.  NECA just posted new pics of these painted figures on their facebook page - so awesome!  "Aliens" is one of my favorite movies of all time.

As for Prometheus, that one is tougher.  I feel like if I go down that hole I will be compelled to collect everything from that movie series as well.  I do like the TRU 2 pack, but other than that I am not sure I just want the other characters since they are just standard, human like figures.

Other Toy Lines / NECA Gears of War 3 3/4 scale
« on: November 30, 2012, 10:59 AM »
Yesterday NECA announced that they will be making a Gears of War 3 3/4 inch scaled line.  Thoughts?

I have all 3 of the games and have never played them  :P  (to busy being an adult and not having time to play games - yet for some reason I keep buying them...)

I do see this line as potential cool figures that can fit in as EU SW/GI Joe stand-ins or for good custom fodder.

Collector's Tips / Wall Paint in your collecting room.
« on: October 16, 2012, 08:26 PM »
So I am toying with the idea of starting to set up ALL of my action figures - this is going to be an overwhelming task for sure.  These have always been toys at my house - so I will have to basically go over each figure and accessory and find out what goes with who.

Anyway, I am probably going to go with those track like adjustable shelves like this:  http://www.lovethyshelf.com/?p=187

So first what color tracks and brackets should I use: black or white?
what color shelves:  black, white or a natural smooth wood (Alpine i think is what Lowes called it)

and then after those, what color wall paint?  Currently my entire house - 1550 sqft ranch with an almost entirely finished basement - is a darker off white color.  So I was thinking about changing the color in my kids playroom/aka my future display room.

My son is 9 and he rarely touches the action figures anymore and my collection is becoming overwhelming - I need to do something with it.

Perhaps I should take some pics tonight of the room in question and post them here...

Also FYI, I am going to be displaying many different action figure lines - not just Star Wars.  Just wanted to throw that out there in case for some reason it impacts decisions.

Other Toy Lines / NECA Predators
« on: October 11, 2012, 02:42 PM »
I looked for a thread on this line but I did not find one - does anyone else here collect these?

I just started by ordering some, errr, too many last night.  My wife is going to kill me....

Here is what I think I am going to be collecting from the line that is either currently released or slated to be released (I would like to say limiting my self to).  Basically this breaks down to The Predator from the first movie and all of the Predators in Predator 2 - these Predators are called "The Lost Tribe":

S7 – City Hunter
*S6 – Scout, Warrior, and Lost  this is the current wave
S5 – Snake, Guardian, Stalker
S4 – Shaman, Boar
S3 - Elder
most likely nothing from series 1 or 2

and then hold off and wait for an updated classic Predator

and here is what I ordered last night:   :-X

I ordered all 6 figures of series 5 and 6 from TRU.com ordering them two at a time. The reason I ordered this way was because they are doing a buy one get one 40% off promo and only one discount per transaction. Thankfully I also have shoprunner free shipping through the end of the year so shipping was all free....

Then I ordered both Shaman and Boar from amazon.com at just under $16 a piece and both were eligible for free shipping so I went that route.

so really all I need is the Elder and City and Jungle and I think I will have a pretty kickin collection. I will try and hold myself back from collecting outside of the first 2 movies - except for Big red and maybe the phasing Falconer in series 7 - they look pretty cool.

Other Collectibles / Angry Birds Star Wars - The Toys
« on: October 8, 2012, 08:41 AM »
OK, you asked for them.  Now here they are:  http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=angry%20birds%20star%20wars&origkw=angry+birds+star+wars&f=Taxonomy/TRUS/2254197&sr=1

wait, what?  You didn't ask for these?   :P

I can't decide on whether I think think these will do marginally well, or epically flop.

The Vintage Collection / Rebelscum Skiff Guard Poll
« on: April 10, 2012, 09:08 AM »
Not a rumor in any way shape or form, but I thought I would post here in case anyone else who hasn't already wanted to join in.  Over at Rebelscum a forum member started a Sweet 16 tournament for "Which unmade Jabba's Skiff/Barge figures are most desired?"  The first round of voting was easy pickings as the original poster intended, but the next round will be tougher.

here is the link if anyone here wants to participate:  http://forum.rebelscum.com/t1079585-2/

Other Toy Lines / Jazwares Mortal Kombat
« on: October 17, 2011, 10:33 AM »
Jazwares is also making Mortal Kombat figures -  but so far they don't look like they compare to the Street Fighter Figures.

Ermacs green eyes aren't doing it for me.  BBTS needs to update there listing to now show this as a 6 pack

the generic robots look pretty good.

But so far that looks like that is all there is for this line.  Just 2 multipacks for this line.  Hopefully we will get some cool 2 packs for this line up like in the Street Fighter line.

Just saw this listing at BBTS:  http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=JWI10151&mode=retail

MK9 4" Exclusive Figure Assortment - Set of 5
1x Sub-Zero
1x Scorpion
1x Reptile
1x Raiden
1x Baraka

http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=JWI10134&mode=retail
MK9 4" Figure Series 01 - Set of 3
1x Johnny Cage
1x Jax
1x Sub-Zero

Maybe if I have time later I might call their customer service to see if I can get any more details on this line and/or availability

update:

I emailed them this:  I was just curious if you had pricing and availability information for your Mortal Kombat 4 inch action figure line. Which stores will be carrying them - and when do you expect them to be out?

and they responded with this:
Thank you for contacting Jazwares, Inc. and for your interest in our products.  We do not sell any of our items from our website or from our office.  Please check with your local Toys R Us, Spencer, Barnes and Noble and Target stores.

Best Regards
