The Vintage Collection / Re: 2018 Vintage Collection Wave 3
« on: September 16, 2018, 10:43 AM »
More EE digging has revealed the pre-order page for 2018 Wave 3 at EE:

The Vintage Collection Action Figures 2018 Wave 3:
2x Elite Praetorian Guard
1x Dr. Aphra
1x Captain Cassian Andor
1x Luke Skywalker Jed I Master
1x Han Solo (Solo)
1x Enfys Nest
1x Imperial Hovertank Driver

We'll see if the case assortment is correct because it doesn't seem to include the SOLO Range Trooper and instead has the Elite Pretorian Guard, which was supposed to be in 2019 Wave 2?  ???

Yakface posted a photo this morning of Wave 3 found at a Texas Walmart and it shows 2 Range troopers and no Elite Guards. All other figures matched the above listing, so barring two different case packings the EE listing is in error.

I got this wave at my local walmart thanks to intel from an employee last week telling me that they were expecting something from TVC on Sunday night’s truck. There were no pegs marked for TVC and I found these on a TBS 6” peg. Brickseek also doesn’t show any updates indicating this store has stock, I think it is starting to be less effective for such things.

Anyways, this is a nice trio of figures.  Enfrys Nest is the winner of the bunch - highly detailed, though it does not  have a removable helmet. Han is nice too, just got some weird paint apps on the eyes and sideburns. Tank Driver is good, ironically doesn’t represent the driver shown on the card as it is missing some paint apps on the armor. Overall, a much better wave than the first and I’m pleased to get it out of the way knowing wave 1 is still all over the place.

Do we know when this wave is to be released to the big stores - Amazon, Target, etc?

Most new figs do seem to sport the thigh swivel.  New ones do anyway.

Well where the hell have I been? I just checked my SA Rogue One figures and they all have the thigh swivel! I totally missed that!

Great job to everyone involved with getting coverage to the rest of us. Thank you!

Is that another figure on the Kessel playset’s 2nd level? Or a cutout from the new material they are using?

Great looking bunch of figures for the basic line. Just need Dryden Vos and his kitty henchman and we have every main character wrapped up

Is it me or does the Gunner appear to have the articulation at the thighs that the 6” have?

Oooh that Stormtrooper!! Back in the day that was an easy army builder, now I will have to settle for only a couple at today’s prices. But damn is it not sweet!

Vintage Kenner / Re: Does anybody buy vintage cardbacks anymore?
« on: July 17, 2018, 08:06 PM »
People definitely still buy cardbacks, in fact depending on condition some cardbacks go for more than loose figures!! If no one on JD is interested, I am sure you can find hits on the various Facebook groups dedicated to vintage.

AFA is still around, don’t know what is up with their website, but despite competition from CAS and UKG they are still in business. I personally am not a fan of grading loose figures, they lose their charm being encased in acrylic in my opinion. But if you think you can get a high grade, then there is that premium you obtain for resale value.

I got a chance on Sunday to goto my childhood TRU, which also happened to be next to the high school I went to. All that was left from SW were items that every store around me has had in bulk; TFA speeder bike, 40th ann TBS Vader, Vader masks, and BB,8 playsets. All overpriced, even at clearance, which is appropriate for a TRU. Nevertheless, It was very sad to walk through the bones of the store where I got so many Star Wars, GI Joe, and Transformers toys along with the SNES.

Farewell Riverview TRU...

Ahh cool, tha thanks for th info Muftak and JJ. How was tunghori's price on the figure? Just in case...

224
Didn't find it on tunghori's ebay store, but I found the same photo on an auction - could be the guy from FB. Also noticed a couple of other auctions from Canadian sellers with carded versions in hand. Perhaps it is hitting up north?

Is it just the paintjob playing tricks on me or does the cockpit ball look different than the one they have been using for the last 40 years??

It must be.  The photo of the back of the package (albeit a little blurry) seems to reveal a significant battle damage feature.  It looks like the main body of this TIE splits in order to simulate being blasted apart.

Good catch,  I hadn't noticed that feature on the back. An all new TIE after so long, a shame they aren't doing a 40th anniversary tribute to the toy line this year to put it in special packaging...
