Sweet!  I did not catch the timing or service for this.  Is it supposedly only available on their streaming service with subscription?

That looks like a Direct-to-DVD release.  Awful.  Reminds me of the Marvel take on New Mutants where its some kind of combo Super-hero/Horror movie.  I'll be skipping both.

It's been found at EB Games in Canada so hopefully that means Target is right behind

Any sign of this guy in the U.S. yet?

Travis was bit, shot through the neck and then he fell out of the helicopter.  Pretty much an don screen death.

Yeah, that would be a bit tough to come back from.   ;)  Agree that we probably haven't seen the last of Maddie though...

If all you're getting is Optimus, I would splurge and get one of the Masterpiece versions.  You can probably pick one up off Ebay for around $75 or less.  You will be blown away by the articulation and (ahem) heftiness of the die cast parts.  There's a ton of MP versions out there, but I have the old MP10 from Target and it's still one of my all time favorite figures.  Yout might find this article from Siebertron.com helpful.

When is The Thing slated to be released?

Should be any time now.  There are a few on Ebay, but only from foreigners last I checked.

Not a possible spoiler - a definitive spoiler.  Figured they would go that route based on the original, but I'm surprised they gave it away like that.   :-\

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Solo (SPOILERS)
« on: May 25, 2018, 01:58 PM »
I liked it!  It was not Rogue One, but it was solid and entertaining.  I liked that they kept some of the "Legends" backstory for Han (Sabaac Cards, Imperials, meeting Chewie, etc.) and it was a nice origin piece for him, Chewie, Lando, and others.  I liked the way he was portrayed as reckless, confident, and a quick study.  Also really enjoyed the attempt to tie together all kinds of other things from the SW universe.  Little bits like the mentions of Aurra and Bossk go a long way for me, and then obviously other larger reveals.  Even the interactions between Han and Lando were a nice match to how we see them in Empire.  I kept away from spoilers, so the stuff at the end was an interesting surprise.  I definitely would not have liked it as much if I'd already known some of that was coming.

What I liked most about this movie was the dichotomy between Han's optimistic younger self and the older, more worried version we get in the OTC.  The "I have a good feeling about this" line pretty much sums it up.  It's interesting how desperate he is to build connections (Going back for Qi'ra, joining up with Beckett's gang, instant friends with Chewie, etc.) versus how reluctant he is to be tied down to anything later in life.  I thought it added a lot to his overall character arch throughout the movies.

Stuff I didn't like was pretty minor.  It did feel slow to me at times.  I don't mind a break in the action, but it was kind of meaningless breaks for the most part.  I want that gut wrenching scene of Luke feeling trapped on Tatooine watching the sunset with the powerful John Williams score.  I also didn't like how fast characters recovered from tragedy.  I don't want to include spoilers, but when things go very bad, usually characters are upset for more than 10 seconds.  Luke's obviously upset when his aunt and uncle are killed or Ben dies...didn't get the same feeling here when things went bad, and it just makes it harder to empathize with the characters.  I felt the same way with Thor Ragnarok, so probably just my own issue.

Its definitely set up for a part 2 if they want to go that route.  I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10.

Like Dave, I'm pretty sheltered and pretty much just go to JD for my SW news, so hadn't heard about any of this until today.  Its unfortunate, but it is what it is I guess.  I think almost everything from Disney has been better than almost everything from the prequels, so I can't relate to all the hate.  Its not always my favorite and I'm not known for being shy about stuff I don't like, but there's no reason to full on hate any of this stuff.  I loved TFA and RO, and even TLJ had its moments.

I honestly think this is more of a function of the times and people's ability to criticize or hate from the comfort and anonymity of their little corner in the basement.  For small minded people who have no other outlet for their frustrations, the internet is a safe zone where they can beat up on something else to distract them from something they hate about their own life.  Its really sad if you think about it - someone is dedicating their precious time to go to a Star Wars website to complain about how much they don't like Star Wars and make others feel bad about it.   ::)  Life's too short for that nonsense.

Just watched the TWD Finale and I'd agree it was pretty telegraphed.  Can't quite put my finger on it, but the "anguish" of the characters isn't what it used to be.  I remember when Lori died - Rick's grief was gut wrenching.  But Carl's loss has just kind of dragged on and Maggie's cries for Negan to die were almost silly.  I'm super tired of Rick's "Hey, just trust me" then killing or slashing people.  I haven't watched Fear yet - hopefully the new format is a fun reboot.

Wow, I should sell mine too.  Doubt I will ever look at it again.

I'm starting to see it appear in the Disney forums and unrelated tech forums I've read. The hate is brewing.

Uh, where?  I have yet to read anything remotely bad about the movie other than people didn't like what happened to their favorite heroes at the end.   ???

Saw this Friday and I'm still reeling from it.  Totally awesome movie and fully exceeded my expectations.  Seeing all the characters meet up was fun, and they still added lots of fun moments despite a much more serious edge on this movie.  Pacing was great too despite major characters and plot lines all over the place.  I did think there would be some rough spots for die hard fans in this movie and it did not disappoint, though the way it went down was very different from what I was expecting.  I don't think its a spolier to just say that this is the Empire Strikes back of this generation.  Can't wait to go see it again.

Yeah, me too. I don't know why, but I thought it was going to be a hard-cover book. I guess I was expecting a bit much.

Funny - I had the same impression.  That this was going to be more of a good read or have lots more pictures.  It kind of reminds of the same little books you can get at a car dealership to sell you on all the features of your car.  It's kind of neat, but not what I was expecting.  That said, it's a freebie and I would have bought the Khetanna without it, so can't complain too much I suppose.

Got mine in the mail today and popped it open. Pretty interesting stuff so far.  I've just skimmed it over, but the back section about the toy itself and how this came about is what I'm most interested in.  Of course, what I've read so far is just kind of a pep rally for "We heard you, we committed, Fans + Hasbro = Awesome."  I was hoping for a bit more story about how it all went down and who drove it.
