Hey guys,
I made a couple of new customs and posted the pics for you to enjoy.
http://community.webshots.com/photo/401329769LhGeSm
Check out my dios as well
http://community.webshots.com/photo/401304687XlQuvn
Enjoy.

Good stuff there, thanks for showing all of it. I really like your mix of vintage and modern stuff, and the clean organized way you choose do display your collection (and how the loose stuff is set up).
Your Freezing Chamber scene is looking good. I would suggest maybe painting the background blue/black to add a bit more realism. The white background does look ok though.
You've certainly done a ton of heads swaps. Maybe add in a few more legs/arms swapping too. It's always fun to add in as much variety on fan-fic customs. Maybe doing some more painting as well, though your work is still a lot of fun without it.
My favorite though is the picture of you and your wife super-imposed onto the Han/Leia photograph. It's hilarious. My wife and I did the exact same thing last year in Branson, MO.
:P
-
That dio is really impressive! :o
Nice work on that "babe" figure ;)
-
There's some really fun stuff here. I like the dios you've put together, and some of the swaps you've done are quite nice, and ones I hadn't thought of.
Some of the ones that stood out to me were some of your Endor Rebel characters, and your "Bib Fortuna" Jedi. I agree with Chewie that you're ready for the next step, and should try some limb swaps and get your feet wet with some paint applications.
Another thing to note: You might get more feedback if you used a hosting service so you could link your pics directly in your thread. I know a lot of the time I skip threads that link to another site: I bet a lot of others do as well. Laziness, I guess. But posting it in your thread allows you to post your comments on what you were thinking or were aiming for in your creation, and to me, that's part of the fun of seeing someone's work.
-DD
-
Yep, I think DD is right. If you are able to directly post some pics, it will help get more feedback (if that's what you're looking for).
Anyways, I'm glad you are posting here, and I hope you continue to do so. Feel free to give us some feedback too; it looks like you could give me some pointers.
There is a Bousch figure in one of your pics that I saw that looks to have some sort of cape? And some major repainting? Any information on this custom?
:P
-
Please if you have a service I can purchase, so that I can link it up to the thread it will be most welcome.
In regards to the bousch, it is actually a vintage Lando skiff repainted, with a obi wan jedi cape and the bousch helmet, he was pretty beat up and I hate to see nice toys go to waste so I got a little creative and made a bounty hunter out of him.
-
No need to purchase anything! I use this free web imaging service:
www.photobucket.com
I've never had a problem with them yet (--knock on wood--) and they're really easy to use and link to. It's pretty self-explanatory once you get to the site, but if you need any help with anything, send me a PM or post it here. ;D
-
I've never used photobucket (which I hear is good), I use www.250free.com. It ends up usually costing be anywhere from $4-$8 per month depending on how many hits I get, which is kind of high when I have a photonovel up (lots of pics in each photonovel).
Good luck!
:P
-
Hey guys,
here is a custom ship I am working on, I got it at a swap meet for 10 dls all beat up and I just said the hell with it, so here it is, I fixed the electronics and got some parts for it, as it stands it is about 90% finished.
Enjoy.

Hey guys,
i made some custom control panels over the weekend, tell me what you think.
http://community.webshots.com/photo/423112255FSRJUE
Enjoy
-
I like those a lot. :) I wish you had some better pics though.
So what did you make them out of?
-
Bigger pictures would be nice. But I like what I see so far. I like the black. I think you could add some weathering here and there, by scratching off some balck paint so the original silver shows through, and it looks like blast marks. Also, you could add some extra weapons, since the ship wouldn't have any to begin with. Be sure to give us an update when you are done. :)
-
hey, I believe it would be fun just to post picks of works in progress or unfinished stuff, here are some I am still waiting for inspiration on:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/423119940KuyYCa
Feel free to post your stuff.
-
I suck at pictures, the camera i took them with is a 7.2 megapixel i just got.
I will try for better ones, but I made them out of Playmobil control panels for the police, fire dept and airport sets, and i just took them apart and repainted with krylon satin plastic paint, now all i need is a diorama inspiration to put them in.
-
do you have any suggestions on where to put the guns, I have 2 spare vintage laser cannons and a few odds 7 ends from military sets, nothing i think would look really cool, in regards to the weathering i am afraid to do it as i suck at it.
-
Hey here are some customs i made today, nothing fancy just bored, hope yiou like'em:

-
here is another one i am working on a spaceport:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/423116454KCYFPG
-
Since the orignal color was silver weathering won't be too hard. You can just use an exacto and scrape the black paint off a bit. Try and do it in places that get weathered, like the nose cone, wings, the sides of the ship, engine areas, and places around hatches and windows. I think the guns would look good on the belly of the ship somewhere near the back. I personally would make them look somewhat concealed, as if they were some sort of illegal modification.
-
Yeah, the black is pretty nice, very slick.
-
wow! I love the spaceport -- is it scratch built or did you use an existing playset as a base -- I'd love to hear more about it.
-
Dang, this is some cool stuff. I agree, the spaceport is really, really cool. I'm wondering how you made it?
:P
-
Well, this is so cool to see someone take on such a large vehicle and customize it. It shows a true love of customizng.
It kind of reminds me of the Cobra Night Raven -
(http://www.virtualtoychest.com/gijoe334/gijoenightravenspc.jpg)
Very nice work so far. As for adding some guns, I would suggest adding some, but nothing too big as it might contrast with the ships's sleek look.
:P
-
All I can see is the first one (the blonde Endor girl) but so far, so good!
:P
-
Looks like you've been busy customizing lately.
I agree, these look sharp. Little diorama accessories like these are always a welcome sight. ;)
:P
-
Thanks guys, I actually customized a playmobil airport set, painted the screens, moved some stuff around and customized the contol panels, I picked it up on e bay for about $20 dls.
-
One of the other things I am working on is the front section of the ship, I am customizing some mini rigs and weaponry for it, I will post pics soon.
Thanks!!!!
-
I like that first WIP you had; Is it possibly a wall of Mos Eisley?
-
I customized and painted a styrofoam packing box part, and I am thinking what it can be, I was thinking Mos Eisley or Yavin 4 or an old forgoten city I am waiting on inspiration to finish it.
-
I like it alot ... good work ! ;D
-
Thanks guys, please feel free to post any of your stuff on this, I just wanted to start a trhead where it can be all in one place.
-
Very nice, has a good stealthy look to it, almost sleeker than the silver was.
Can't wait to see the finished version!
Also I don't remember that joe ship, hasbro was good back in the day...
-
Well, I really haven't made much in the way of props for stuff like this. But I do intend to! Then I'll post some pics.
:P
-
Back in the day when Hasbro was producing 7 foot Aircraft Carriers and Space Shuttles with launch facilities, you mean?
Those were the days. Now we can't even get a Sith Infiltrator out of them...

I know. At least they made Slave 1 better though..
and once more, awesome job so far :P
-
WOW! Very ambitious project and it looks great so far. I agree that some weathering would look nice as well as some new weapons (maybe under the nose?). I can't wait to see the final pics!
-
Very nice, the only control panel that I made was done out of index cards and a ZEST soap box (and Niub Niub's labels).
I forgot how cool Playmobile stuff was, I'll have to dig out my old sets ... if I can find 'em...
-
Cool, that spaceport is really nice! I wish i had room to try something like that out! Great dios too!
-
I really like the spaceport T-jedi. Got any more pic of it?
-

I've got one of those shuttles (don't know which one) and plan on making a cargo ship out of it. It's got all the parts except the two outside wings, so it's pretty cool. One thing I would like to do is replace the wheels with skid plates like most SW vehicles use. Anybody tried that?

I've started my first customized figure, and need some product info. I've cut the arm off a figure and glued it in a new position. What's most appropriate to use to fill in the resulting gaps? Sculpy or what?
-
Try Sculpy, as it should do the deed.
Kevin
-
Do they sell it at Walmart/Kmart/Target?
-
I'd try an arts and crafts store, like Michaels.
Kevin
-
If it's a really small hole you can usually use wood putty too. I've done that a couple of times.
:P

I use Games Workshop brand 2-part putty (aka "green stuff" and "Kneadite"). I love it - it's a lot tougher than sculpey (at least in my experience) and it air dries so you don't need to cure it in boiling water or anything.
-
hey guys,
I made a couple of custom playsets, re-changed some old favorites as well as made some from scratch, here they are Enjoy.

You guessed it!!!!!
I got 2 on e bay for 1 cent & shipping total $17 dls, so I said what the hell, went to Michaels got some stone paint and voila!!!!
Thanks for the comment!!!!
-
Nice sets! I really like the spaceport and casino 8)
-
Great set up! It makes me really want to graduate just so that I can get a room just for Star Wars ;)
I like how you have all of the mini-dios, nice stuff!
-
Thank you Amigo,
Once you graduate you will have 3 rooms for your toys, you will see......
Thank you for the kind words,
-
Wow, that's very impressive. You have a wide range of stuff too, and I can't believe how many different rooms you have it displayed in. I love it! Thanks for sharing with us!
:P
-
Wow, talk about creativity! I had never thought of that with the Castle Grayskull - that's a perfect idea.
I also really like the Smuggler hideout. So awesome. Now I wish I had bought one of those Cobra base playsets.
And the other two are fantastic too, yet I don't know what you made them from.
:P
-
Hey Chewie,
I have been on vacation so I have not gone to the US to mail you the package, i will do so on the 13th!!!!!!!
I will also post pictures of R Enloff that I still owe you, hey thanks for the kudos, I got the playsets on e bay (greyskull for 1 cent $10 shipping actually got 2) and the cobra mountain for $20 dls shipping included, $20 dls in paint and voila 3 playsets, the mystery playsets are Playmobil Airports Converted and painted to resemble something Star Wars, I got some Aiports cheap and got 2 great High quality playsets for $60 dls.
Playmobil is really cool and the accesories and buildings are awseome so if you get a chance to get any go for it!!!!!!
-
Dayum those are sweet! What kind of paint/app process did you use for those?
B
-
Just Stone paint from Michaels in Ancient Ruin Color and 2 coats.
-

-
Very cool! I really like those custom senators, they all look great - a very diverse crowd ;)
What base set is that? Is that a straight repaint (if so, great job), or did you combine stuff?
-
Wow, these custom fan fic playsets are definitely what sets you apart from most other customizers. I have no idea how you make them, but I'd be very interested to know.
Outstanding job on these as always.
Also, have you thought about consolidating your threads into one Tijuanajedi master thread?
:P
-
Thank you guys,
Yes Chewie, I would be very interested on having a master thread, how do I go about that?
Can you help me please?
In regards to the playset construction, they are Playmobil Airport's, I got about 4 of them on e bay, combined and repainted the parts (took a long time as I got them used and with no instructions) and I built some Star Wars buildings, I did repaint a lot of the stuff as they come in blue, yellow, red, etc....
Thank you for looking and repliying.
-
Hey guys,
I finshed my Geonosis & Smuggler hideout diorama playsets enjoy!!

-
Well, just start using one thread for your stuff, and I believe that a moderator of this section would be happy to combine your past threads. I think it just makes it easier to look back at your past work for reference.
Playmobile airport sets? Hmmm I guess I need to take a look into these!
:P
-
Wow, it's unreal how well that works for Geonosis. I never would have though of something like that. Excellent work!
The smuggler cave is great too. I like the interesting smuggler customs that you filled up the diorama with.
:P
-
These playsets are so cool! They definitely look "Star Wars" to me, great work!
How do you have room for all of these playsets!!?? :P
-
Cool showcase! (btw where did you get that R2-D2 Pepsi thingy?)
-
Man TJ, you've got stuff all over!
My wife would have a fit if my livingroom was overtaken with SW. Plus i would be worried stuff would get damaged easily or chewed up by my cat, she loves lightsabers.
Grego, you'll only have the spare rooms till you get married and have kids...
Then you gotta move stuff!
-
I got the r2d2 cooler on e bay, I lucked out and paid about $150 dls with shipping for him.
-
Thanks, I got a new photo account, so I can upload direct images now, who hooo.
-
Tijuana, have you ever thought of using any styrene? I bet you could make some great pieces to compliment these already nice props.
:P
-
I dont know how to use it or even where to get it?
I know Owen D is a Master with it.
-
http://www.evergreenscalemodels.com/
http://www.plastruct.com/
:)
-
I've bought some styrene, and found myself very frustrated with it. One must first learn through the teachings of Owen D before they truly become a styrene master.
You can also find it sometimes at small town hobby shops.
:P
-
Both of those links have a page that lists all the brick and mortar stores where their products can be found.
-
Thank you fellas!!!!
I agree with Chewie, Owen D is the Master, but I like to try New Stuff, so I will give it a shot, besides if I mess up, it can always be a battle ground ;D
-
Ok Guys,
I am working on a New Playset
Jedi Temple:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/462949614uoSEog
Please tell me what you think!!!
-
Hey that's pretty neat!
You really should try a different host webshots is slow to load and you can't hotlink with it. Try http://www.imageshack.us
-
I do have one, but I cant load anything over 1mega, If I pay for their service think I can do it then?
besides I have posted some pictures with it, but they come out sort of Small.
Thanks for your help :)
-
You have to resize the images first, you can do that with any basic image editting software. If you don't have any, you can download a basic program for free.
-
Good work on that TJ. You might also want to try flickr.com (http://www.flickr.com) for hosting pics. Just make sure you resize and crop the pics before you upload, otherwise you run out of allowable uploads for the month.
-
That's so cool Tijuana! I'm always amazed at how you come up with using playsets from other lines and turn them into something that fits perfectly in the Star Wars universe. So where did this playset originally come from?
:P
-
I agree with what everybody else has said - awesome playset! It feels very regal and important, just like the Jedi Temple. The design of the playset is also a great match to the film version. What paint do you use for these playsets? Is it spray-painted or hand-painted?
-
Thanks my friends!!!
OK, I started with spare parts from a Fairy Tale Castle (playmobil)
Then I researched the color scheme from Movies, websites & video games and then I spray Painted the Bases (Krylon fusion plastic paint) & handpainted the other smaller parts & details.
I also want to mention that the set was about 40 bucks on e bay incomplete but 80% there and I spent about 6 bucks on paint.
I will post more detailed pics when I finish it, thanks for posting your comments & ideas my friends.
