Title: Legendary Comic Book Heroes
Post by: evenflow on January 10, 2007, 12:12 AM
I just go tthe latest toyfare and I have to say that the Pitt figure looks incredible. I really wanted this figure when the pictures popped up last month. The line looks like it has potential, but i had not intended to pick them all up. Sadly Toyfare mentions that Pitt is the build a figure for the first series. Any of you guys planning on picking these up?

I'll probably pick up the Savage Dragon figures.  I've been a loyal supporter of that book since issue one.

I thought the Pitt figure looked great when I saw the initial pictures.  If he's a BAF then I may have to get the line just to put him together.

I did the same thing with the ML Sentinel though.  I had interest in only the Spidey and Angel figures but bought the wave to get the Sentinel.  Sold the ML figures and made part of my money back.  Maybe I'll do the same with this line.

As for Pitt the comic, I liked it back in the day but have no idea what they've done with the character recently, if anything.

Can't wait to see the Dragon figure.  Hope there's some variants - cop Dragon, wife beater and jeans Dragon, "I just got my ass kicked by Overlord and impaled on a spike" Dragon, SOS Dragon, naked in burning field Dragon, etc.

These just keep getting better. I will be buying the entire first series and the conan 2-pack. Probably only the Darkness from series 2 though.

I'm still debating if I'm going to pick up Dragon's supporting cast (Superpatriot and Star are confirmed).  There's a **** load of characters in his universe and getting them (if they make them) would cost a lot of money.

Although I'd be tempted to buy a Dung figure.  Who wouldn't want a figure of Dung?

I can't wait till they break away from the Image crap and give us some real legendary comic heroes such as Phantom, Flash Gordon and the Rocketeer.

I'll buy the Conan figures, for sure. I wasn't very impressed with the Conan figures McFarlane did, but that one looks a lot better.

I'm also getting that Marv. I think he looks great.

I saw these in person at NYCC and they were incredible. The Pitt figure was amazing. I am happily into the first wave. Series 2 was cool, but am not familair with the BAF so wont get the whole wave. I wish we could have gotten a Hulk figure the size of the Pitt figure.

Wow, those are great (Marv especially). I heard a rumor that a new Maxx figure is in the works as well, now that I can't wait for. I just hope that the final product looks that good. This line has a ton of potential and hopefully it will go far. Here's to hoping for Milk & Cheese figures...  ;D

I am really hoping they do MAxx and all his supporting characters, he was always a character i enjoyed.

I heard that Shocker Toys is doinga Maxx figure, so i hope that doesnt mean that we wont get one in this awesome line.

Maybe it is Shocker, I get confused. Didn't they have this legendary license as well then it got pulled?

I saw prototype pics of Shadowhawk and i believe the chick from Maxx that they were doing. I am just hoping that that doesn't mean those characters cannot be included in the series.

TheGD.com (http://thegd.com/General/lh.asp) has pics up of Series 1, Series 2, and the Twin Packs on the way for the Legendary Comic Book Heroes line.  Although I admit I know who very few of these characters are, the figures sure do look nice.

There have been no updates with the Shocker Toys series. If we dont get new info at SDCC, i very much doubt i will ever get a new Maxx figure.  :'(

Looks like these should be hitting soon, on ebay from Japan. Pitt looks awesome, a great huge BAF.

I'm probably in for that wave, if I can find it, because I want the Pitt figure.  The Witchblade figure doesn't look bad but I don't have much interest in the other figures besides Timmy.

Well the shipping price is insane, i doubt anyone would bid. I have the set on preorder but if i could just get Pitt and Timmy on ebay, i would probably only pick up Savage Dragon.

I'm just getting Savage Dragon (hopefully his wifebeater variant), so I'll have his Pitt piece if anyone wants it.  If so, I'm sure we can work something out.

Sweet merciful crap, PITT looks fantastic (http://lcbh.marvellegends.net/LCBH/LCBH01/)

I was originally only going to get Dragon, but after seeing how big, massive and all around bad ass Pitt looks, I may try to piece him together.  Some of his pieces are so big, they could have easily called this the "Pitt wave with superhero accessories".  Good stuff.

That si totally awesome. I love the lineup pic on the bottom. I cannot wait to get my set. I have not really complained too much about the Hasbro ML, but if Marvel Toys can still give us a large BAF like that, then Hasbro should be able to as well. Pitt is just awesome.

Aside from Savage Dragon, I really have next to no idea who these characters are, but I will admit, those figures look wicked cool.  The BAF Pitt is huge, and looks really nice.  I could see these selling at retail as well to even casual buyers/kids, just because of the interesting looks.

Found these today.  I grabbed the variant wife beater Dragon and the regular Superpatriot.  There were plenty of everyone, including variants and both versions of Judge Death from wave 2.  Now I just need to track down the four other PITT parts to put that bad ass toy together.

Bloody Marv exclusive (http://www.dynamicforces.com/htmlfiles/p-C108250.html)

I think i will be passing on this one. I wasnt into the figure to begin with but the price killed it.

I found these today at a Wal-Mart in Elmira, NY.  They had all of wave one and the Judge Death and his clear variant from wave 2.  I don't think there were any other wave 2 figures there, though.

They looked pretty good and I debated picking up a set to built Pitt but he's really the only character that I want.  Since I already had $30 worth of Joe's and SW figures in my hands I passed.  I don't think these are going to be hard to pick up later but we'll see.

I picked these up today.  They're a pretty good line of figures.  Great sculpts, great articulation.  But for all the great articulation, I had a bitch of a time standing the majority of them up in a non-neutral pose.  Regardless, they're nice.  I really like Superpatriot and Madman.  Judge Death looks great as well, but he's the only one I didn't pick up since he's from Series 2.  From what I understand this is the only time he'll be released...I guess the rest of Series 2 will be 2-packs.  More than likely I'll pick him up sooner than later.

And Pitt is freakin' insane.  :)

Found an entire endcap to these at Walmart tonight, and am in the process of putting Pitt together right now. I haven't bought a Marvel Legends figure since Hasbro took over (although I did get an Icon Silver Surfer tonight), but a BAF Pitt that looks this great was impossible to pass up.

Saw Savage Dradon and Judge Death (1 of each) at Walmart today. I would have bought the full set if they had it but i passed on the 2 they had.

I picked up a set of 6 tonight and built Pitt.  I found them at a WM on clearance already for $7 each.  When I noticed that I decided not to pass them up.

The Pitt figure is incredible.  I have two issues with mine, the elbow in the left arm doesn't have the "click" positining so he can't hold some poses and the upper body is so heavy the hip joints have a hard time holding him.

I might snag a second right arm if I can get another cheap but I don't know.  That one most won't have to worry about but the weight and the hip joints may be a problem with a lot of them.  Still, overall, it's an incredible figure.  And well worth the price, especially on sale like that.

I haven't gone through the basic line yet to know if I'm going to keep any of them but I may hold onto Witchblade and maybe Judge Dredd.  The rest, although they look good, just aren't up my alley as collectibles.

Pitt's been standing on my computer desk since I put him together and I still can't get over just how bulky he is.  I decided to compare him to the ML Sentinel and while that's quite a bit taller, Pitt wins out in sheer massiveness.  While I had them out I snapped a couple pictures.

Is the scale on these meant to be 5" or 6"?  They seem small, aside from Pitt :-\
Title: Re: Legendary Comic Book Heroes
Post by: efranks on September 10, 2007, 11:43 PM
They're 6" for the most part.  I think they did some smallish characters because the Pitt figure was so large.  The sculpts on some like Madman, Dragon, Witchblade...they're good, but they're not overly involved nor do they have a lot of paint apps.

I wasn't really keen on any of the figures from the first wave but the Pitt figure is awesome and I was more then happy to buy them for that figure.

Ok, so i picked up Star and Marv. So basically now i only need 2 parts to finsih off Monkey Man. I dont mind picking up Judge Death, but don't want O'Brien. Does anyone have an extra right leg that they dont need?

Not Legendary Comic Book Heroes but independant figures. unpainted pics of Maxx, Shadowhawk, and Scud.

I have a hard time figuring out how this line ever made it to retail...my local Wally is already clearancing them as I don't think I saw more than 3-5 sell and that includes Christmas.

Also, I also wonder if this line, Spidey3 and FF2 were why Wally didn't pick up the DCUC?

Post by: JohnH on January 29, 2008, 10:57 PM
I'm waiting for them to clearance here.  :)  I picked these up for the website archive then sold them, but I've wished I would have held onto them.  Other things have taken priority so I haven't wanted to spend $10 a pop again, but I'll pick them up again if they're a bit cheaper.  I am kind of kicking myself for not buying a Marv that I saw yesterday, though I did find the Madman variant for the first time at the same store.  Honestly I didn't even know they made a Madman variant until yesterday.

I think the general consensus is "who cares" but personally I like this stuff.  I really dig the Legendary Heroes from Marvel and I'm looking forward to Shocker's Indie Spotlight.  The Maxx, Scud and Shadowhawk all look great and I'm super excited about The Tick from Series 2.  :)  I'd love to see Marvel Toys' LCBH line continue but I can't imagine it will considering its lack of success through the first two series.  Kind of a drag because they're great figures (albeit a bit obscure).

Am I correct in saying that the NYCC Scud figure is unarticulated?  I know the normal production version is supposed to have a load of articulation but I thought I heard this was more of a "production prototype" of sorts.

Because i really don't have any faith these figures will make it out, i ordered the Maxx exclusive version. I figure i could get it professionally painted if the painted version never comes out.

It is actually a pretty cool figure. Nice size and sculpt.
