Title: Biker Scout - Clean Version
Post by: Darth Broem on June 2, 2003, 01:03 PM
I forgot about this version.  I really wanted the clean version but settled for the common "dirty" one instead.  Since that was the only one I could find at retail.  Did you folks find these in good quantities in your area?  The "clean" one I mean.

I saw about 5 or 6 in my local specialist store around Christmas 2000. I picked up one (should have got two), and I never saw it in any store (retail or scalper) ever again. The dirty version was peg-warming for months after its release though; this is the one that I’ve still got carded  :( .

Early shipments were clean for us, later were dirty.  I grabbed a couple of clean, but traded one away, so I only have one remaining.

I would like to have many clean versions (hint, troop builder set) for the shuttle diorama, but not too be.  Otherwise I just imagine the Emperor zapping all the scouts that couldn't be bothered to clean up for inspection.  Terrible mess he makes.

The clean one actually wasn't THAT difficult to find here...  It shipped a few times anyway, and I saw it in a few stores.  The dirty one was very easy to find though.  As easy to find as the Bespin Guard at one point actually.

I'm still disappointed with this figure, and hope they make a new one that's more poseable some day.

If you're wanting an army of them (clean) and an army that arguably looks BETTER than the POTJ version, might I suggest buying up loose vintage ones, and give them your own (more detailed) paint job.

The vintage figure is surprisingly accurate in sculpt, and his pose is much more "neutral" and acheives the attention pose needed for an Emperor's arrival diorama.  They're relatively cheap too, especially if you find a few in a box that are in sort of beat up shape.

The helmet's actually more properly scaled even, as the POTJ figure's helmet is a tad small.  I've seen some customs using the vintage figure that really REALLY look impressive.

Nah, I'm not that bothered by it.  I just thought the clean one looked a bit better than the dirty version.  I remember not being able to locate one.  Then again I don't think I did a massive search for it either.  Just a hole in the collection that kind of nags at me every once in awhile :)

I've got one of each.  I remember there was a clean one that sat on the pegs at my target for weeks, and I never picked him up.  At the time I was debating about collecting POTJ or not, since my EP 1 collection still wasn't finished.  One day I decide to get him, and sure enough, he's gone

Jesse, the vintage Biker Scout is by the best figure EVER made.  It is the best Biker Scout sculpt, especially when it involves building an army of Biker Scouts.  I have several vintage Biker Scout figures for my Imperial Army.  Here's a pictures of them all lined up...

I never saw the clean in a store.  Or anywhere else for that matter.  I have two dirty ones, but I hope they make the upcoming troop builder pack all clean.

I agree Dustrho - the vintage Scout is the best of the line.  I still remember getting my five dollar allowance for the month of June in '83 and rushing out to K-Mart to get him!   ;D

I saw a clean Biker Scout exactly twice, and picked them both up fortunately.  Never saw any more after that.  Pretty tough find from everything I've ever heard - probably one of the toughest pieces to acquire in the entire POTJ line actually (sans MOTDS of course).

Though the dirty version didn't ever warm the pegs, there were plenty of those to go around for most everyone.  But if they do create another troop builder set with the Biker Scout, it should most definitely be the original clean version, or at the very least - 3 clean and 1 dirty for a little variety.

But in a perfect world, Hasbro would just make a beautiful, all-new Biker Scout ala the Commtech Stormtrooper.  That would be great!  This guy deserves more articulation, and a more neutral pose!

I had to pay $20 in eBay for this one.   I was really disapointed with the Target exclusive one being a dirty version.  If you haven't noticed the Target version's butt is in the front!!!  Quality Control must have been out on that day.  I guess he would have to sit down to take a leak.

Yeah, that was one MAJOR screw-up on Hasbro's part.

I think that this clean Bikerscout, being one of the hardest to find figures from the POTJ line, should be an obvious choice for a reissue on the new Saga cards.  Makes the most sense since many people never saw it at retail, like the MOTDS Maul and Vader that have now been reissued.  An army building 4-pack of these would be equally cool!

Hopefully Hasbro's paying attention here!

I'd like a new Scout with bike myself...  Not a reissue bike either, but a to-scale and properly detailed one...  That's  my opinion right now on this...  It'd look great with what they're capable of today I think, and if articulated right the Scout could be the best thing since...

Well it could be great I guess...  :)

The POTJ scout has an ok look, but it's very unposeable, and just is missing some quality I like in army builders.

I have heard a rumor that the upcoming Bike Scout Army builder pack (if it ever gets released) will consist of 2 clean and 2 dirty.

If Hasbro was smart they would do 3 clean and 1 dirty.  And what's up with that particular stance?  Can't they just stand straight up-and-down like the vintage Biker Scouts (which is my favorite figure of all time).

The POTJ version of the Biker Scout was pretty good from a sculpting standpoint.  But you know what?  Hasbro can do better now.  Hopefully we can move this discussion to the SAGA forums, and it'll take form as one of the seven deluxe figures for 2004, with a Speeder Bike and some decent articulation.

I always thought this figure was pretty nice as well, and do agree that it would be nice if it was re-released....or if they packed it 3 clean, 1 dirty in the troop builder pack, or even all 4 clean.  The only way they could maybe improve this figure is with some added articulation, but otherwise it isn't too bad IMO.  I saw the clean trooper on two occasions, right when this wave was released, at 2 different Wal-Marts.  I picked up one each time, and also an extra for a friend of mine.  So I have 2 clean and 2 dirty in my collection...I saw the dirty one on a few other occasions, but that clean one has to be one of the harder figures to come across from the modern line....judging from others' opinions/reports.

I only saw the clean Biker Scout on a couple of occasions way back when.  The diry Biker Scout was a little more available at retail in my area.  As far as the speculation for the troop builder pack,  one with added articulation (ability to be placed on a speeder bike) would be awesome...

I only found one clean one. I opened it gleefully. I ended up with three more Hustler-reader ones. Never have seen another clean one.

Really? It was that hard to find? I bought 5 clean and 3 dirty at three stores on the same day.the dirty was actually harder to find for me!We have more kid collecters than adult collecters around the area so a 'battle damaged' trooper sounds better to them.

So...

What is everyone's opinion on this figure now that the VTSC figure is out? I personally think it's still a sharp figure. The sculpt is still good and great for use in action diorama's. As I phase out older sculpts in favor of new ones, I'm keeping these guys around.

I have one all minty on the card I keep holding for trade bait when I need something...  I probably should just let the guy go at this point.

I still like the POTJ version a lot simply because of the great sculpt.  Articulation is lacking, yes, but the 'clean' and 'dirty' variations add to their appeal.  I've bought a few of these off Mikey from his big sell-off and am looking forward to seeing them again after I move at the end of this month.

this mold was used several times, until it evolved its most in the Saga Endor at at.

I agree that the lack of articulation of this guy is compensated by the sculpt.
