Hey gang,
would Utapau Shadow Troopers show battle wear? Would white show through, or is grey the color of the armour? thanks
-
I guess it depends on the artist's personal preference but I think white would be more striking. But what the heck do I know. I just work here. ;)
-
yo master_phruby, thnx for the input.
-
I would think that the armor is cast in painted black like all the other armor is painted.
So something should show through...maybe a light grey?
-
To stay "covert" I would think the armor would be cast/molded in black… so that if damage was taken, it wouldn't compromise the "stealth" appearance. ;)
-
But where is the fun in that?

Sorry, I was describing a real world application. This is Star Wars after all, it doesn't have to make sense.
Go with the white!
;D

Good question... I agree with Phruby that white w/ a tint of silver would look the best. Maybe not the most realistic, but it would look cool.
:P
-
I'll go with Chewie and M_P also....maybe try Gamesworkshop chainmail # 61-56. Or bolt gun metal (sorry , no num. I just used it up and threw the bottle out.)
-
thnx ya'll, I think I'll go with a white/silverish tint. I cant really beleive that there would be a whole heck of a lot of Battle Damage, just some light scuffy.

Judging by what I've seen in the Movies. I'd say the Armour is cast in Metal then coated by a White Ceramic Enamel to give it enviromental resistant properties. You can see in the pics below of Gree and Cody that where the Armor is heavily damaged the Metalic Coloration of the Armor shows through as seen in Cody's Chest Plate Scar and you can see the White Enamel where the Paint is Chipped on Gree's Shoulder Pads

Just my 2cents worth,

Ah yes, I see what you mean. I've read that the armor; described in some guides, that its a plasi-steel; a combo of plastic and steel. your Theory is sound though and it does make sense; but I always thought that the "Metal" showing on the armor was from metal scoring.

I read somewhere the George Lucas Put the Fin on the Clone Armor so it would looked like it was made of metal? The article epxlained that the Clones actually wore metal Armor that was later replace by the Plastisteel worn by Stormtroopers. If I can remeber where I read that I'll let you know. I've read so many things about Clones and Stormtroopers it's hard to remeber what was from what.
You know what I mean?

mabey you could try to do your scuffs and scratches with a nail file. it will scrape the surface of the armor and make it lighter version of the original color. then you could put some silver accents on it!
i never even thought of weathering my shaddow troopers, but now that you've mentioned it, i think i may try it! good idea talon!
