Vintage Kenner / Re: Latest vintage acquisition
« on: November 11, 2006, 02:42 PM »
My latest add-ons are 2 Lando Calrissians (General Pilot), a Luke Skywalker (Stormtrooper Disguise) and a Death Star Gunner. All loose, but in very good condition.

Saw your post at Yakface as well, BrentS. This really sucks and what a mess! Then again, that which does not kill us, makes us stronger, right? Good luck with getting the project running again!

Good luck, then, and remember to keep rotating those limbs  :)

Quite easy, but stay sharp: apply a drop of superglue in the joint and slowly rotate the limb. Or, if it's a leg that won't go round 100%, just move it back and forth slowly. This will cause the glue to be smeared throughout the joint. Just don't stop too soon, or the limb will be glued shut. You'll know when you're almost done, if the glue starts to settle and dry out. Just keep moving it a bit more, just to be sure. And test it first.... on cpt. Solo. Just kidding, just use a leftover fig, if you have any.

Already commented at GalacticArchives.net, but can't hurt to say here as well that your Quinlan looks very cool. The paint apps are excellent!

Great combination of parts on Vadith, D_N. That helmet looks likes it's made from three different owners?

Your kamas always look good. Kinda tough and rugged.

I think the paint job is pristine, but a bit too much on the weathering side this time. Could be a bit cleaner, since Vadith isn't one to stay long in the frontlines  ;)

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Working with Acrylic....?
« on: October 28, 2006, 01:41 PM »
Hm, never had the pleasure of owning acrylic displays, let alone drilling holes in 'em. But if you think it's not the sturdiest material around, I'd use a very small drill at first (the kind you use for drilling in metal) and drill at a high speed.

Perhaps you could also ask Potomac if it's safe to drill these displays?

Darklord, that really sucks, what happened to your home and collection  :(

But those designs you've made are excellent! I especially like the designs of the starfighters (X-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE Interceptor) and the Tri-pod cannon, radar cannon and Snowspeeder. But the rest are just as cool. How long did it take you to make all of these?!

Er... the pics are a bit too small  :).

The only problem is the smell of paints makes my wife instantly throw up. So its been hard to get more painting done.  :-\

That's a little too much info  ;).

I used Tamiya paints back when I made WW2 model planes and AMT/ERTL SW kits. Made a great X-Wing and Slave-I if I do say so myself. I use the GW for my customs, but I might go back and try some Tamiya paints again. Their "military" colours are plain awesome.

Smartypants, great work on those Nautolans. Jat in regular Jedi gear is executed very well. The variations in skin tone between Jat and his commander is also a cool feature.

Talking about colours: that scheme on Kahn Rottan is bright, fresh and quite original. You don't see that many Jedi wearing much white. Very nice change from the usual tans and browns  8)

Nice of you to show that. I know what you mean, it's mostly a process of changing things as you go along.

Very cool and tough looking Dash, btw! I especially like the six-o'clock-shadow beard and the paint apps on his pants. Really curious what parts you used?

Customs Community and Group Projects / Re: OUTRIDER???
« on: October 13, 2006, 04:52 PM »
Just got back from a vacation in NYC, so I'm kinda out of the loop now, but I ordered some kamas from him as well a couple of weeks ago and he shipped them promptly. Had some great emails back and forth, so I vouch for him.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: EUCustomMan's figures (jawa children)
« on: September 27, 2006, 02:10 PM »
Aw, they're so cute, man! Did you made them entirely out of sculpey or something? Very nice work!

But er..... correct me if I'm wrong. Are those Jawas putting their kids up for sale???
