Welcome to another edition of Group Projects. This time our subject will be some rather wierd chacters - US ! 8) We are doing this group project in tandom with FFURG. They are making a custom of Chewbacca's alter ego Snoova. This group project will end at the end of September. The group project is open to anyone that cares to work on it. Final pictures will be posted on the April 2004 casting call. You can see it here! (http://www.ffurg.com/casting_call/cc-48.htm)
The idea is to make the specified character as well as you can. You should post work in progress pictures thru-out the month. We can discuss techniques and parts used. Feel free to ask questions and post constructive feedback. It would be good if you could post a pictures of youself so we can see your reference matteral. I always try to take any feedback I can get and apply it to the figure. Any questions?
Let's start by gathering some reference pictures of ourselves and talk about parts.
-
I will try to do my best, but there are very few Mexican Action figures out there, let me start looking for a latino lookin action figure and I will do my best.
Great idea.
-
Tijuana, there may be some in the 21st century XD line that have the more Mexican look. I wonder if there might be a few GI JOE ones too?
:P
-
Hey great, but i have never heard of the 21st century line, do you have any pics?
-
While we're on the subject; what the hell does everyone look like anyways?
-
Here is what I look like:

You are a very lucky man... mui bonita!

Yep, that's a very pretty lady that you have. Here's a recent pic of me -

I'm the 4th one from the left.
The 21st Century toys... there are several sites that sell them. My favorite was www.smallblueplanet.com, but they seem to not have any in stock at the moment. Here's another site, but they seem kinda pricey, and I've never ordered from them before - http://smalljoes.com/21stcentury_xd_xtreme_118figures.shtml

Couldn't help but to reply here! I mainly post at TNI and occasionally at Galactic Hunter . . . but I'm always browsing the threads here at Jedi Defender. So when I came accross this post I just had to sign up and reply. This goes out to Chewie . . . ppka 8)
-
Here are my reference pictures. I'm not sure what head to use.

Cool - right back at you! And that's a pretty goofy pic, ain't it. Some of us alumni act like idiots sometimes. I think of the hundred or so alumni that I know, I'm the only one with a Star Wars problem. ;)
Anyways, hope to see you around more too - ppka
Phruby, I'm not sure what head to use either. ???
:P
-
Some of us alumni act like idiots sometimes.
Some? Haha. What chapter were you in? I was in Phi, Roanoke College. BTW, I love you dios . . . I'm working on one myself and I was thinking about asking for your input before I knew about "us" Oh, how bad that sounds. :-X
-
Us? Ha ha... that does sound hilarious.
I went to Southeast Missouri State - Epsilon Iota chapter (it's about 100 miles south of St. Louis). Quite a few of my old college buddies do love Star Wars, just not to this degree of sickness. :)
Thanks for the kind words... I'm very lucky that my wife lets me have my collection and will be willing to let me sit on the couch and customize a couple nights a week.
Feel free to post your stuff here too. And ask away, there will probably be lots of questions that we have for you too. ;)
:P
-
Thanks for the compliments on Rebecca, both she and I are flattered, what I am most lucky about is that she lets me have all my stuff out on display all over the house, I mean I took over the kitchen and washing room, I will post pics of my collection on another trhead, even if it is a bit messy...
Master Phurby & Chewie I think the Military line from Toys r us, has a couple of guys who look like you guys or at least a little, I will try to post pictures on them, also I still owe you that Enloff picture chewie, I am just embarrased that the custom is not as good as yours.
-
TijuanaKedi---I bet you could use a SAGA Jango Fett (Kamino Escape) head for yourself. I see the resemblence. :)
-
Thanks Jediknight760071 ,
I was thinking maybe the Naboo Royal Palace guard, the red one, he has a goatee and looks kinda hyspanic, but hey I will take a closer look on the Jango.
How about a picture of you, or what are you thinking of using?
By the way all you guys can call me Marlon if you wish to do so.
-
Actually yes the Naboo guard with the removable helmet would probably be a great head to use.
I've seen those BBI figures at TRU and have quite a few actually. I think there are a couple with somewhat of a resemblence.
:P
-
I wonder what head would work for Chewie? Maybe the kid from Titan AE? The body is definately ep1 Anakin. ;)
-
Hi everyone,
This is my first post on Jedi Defender. Some of you already know me from Rebelscum and FFURG. I figured this group project would be a perfect excuse for me to finally join up! :) I did make one early attempt at a custom self-portrait (http://www.geocities.com/findswoman/4inch/Finds.html) some years back, but wouldn't mind trying for a new, improved one.
Good to see some familiar names -- and faces -- already! Speaking of faces, Phruby, I wonder if heads from Arvel Crynyd or Ric Olié would work. You seem sort of a composite of those two faces...
And yes, Marlon, your wife is very pretty. :)
All right, as for my own reference pictures. My options are a bit limited, since there aren't that many female options out there. Any ideas? My first attempt used a PLC Ewok Leia head, but I wonder if there isn't anything better out there...

Hey Phruby I was going through some of my spare figs and I think i see a resemblence with the "Pit of carkoon " Han solo. His face is slightly thinner ( please take no offense :)) but i think it could work. I'm hoping to get a pic of my scrawny, Shaggy-esque mug on here hopefully by tonight. I do need a VOTC luke for the body though. ( Im going to embellish a little. ;D)
-
The Han Solo or Ric Olié just might work. I think I have an extra Ric Olie to try it out. I've got more hair though but that should be an easy fix.
For Findswoman I can see the Baroness working with a different hair style.
Isn't this thread great? We get to see what each other look like and make figures of ourselves. What might be even more fun is to team up and make figures of each other.
-
Well, you asked for it here they are.
This is my hormal everyday look.
This is my I used to hang out with Pantera and all I got was this lousy T-shirt look.
And this is my always a roadie never a rockstar look.
so what should I use? Please be kind. ;D
-
This is actually turning out to be one of the funniest threads I've ever seen. It's so damn hilarious. ;D
I'm thinking since I look like a little kid still (I'm 28 years old though and 5'7" so I'm not a midget) that I might go with a POTJ Zutton body.
My body isn't that stubby though. I just really have a kid face. So, hell maybe some sort of Luke body would work?
For all of you guys, here's what I'm thinking -
Phruby - Could you modify a Bail Organa head some? Like remove the facial hair?
Findswoman - Baroness might be a very good start. Maybe her head on a Leia body.
Ennis - I'm not sure what head, maybe something using the Agen Kolar hair though, with the ROTS Captain Antilles head?
:P
-
Wow, Chewie, you do indeed have that boyish look! :) Maybe Zett Jukassa for the head, on a non-POTF2 Luke body?
I agree that the ROTS Antilles would be a very likely match for Darth Ennis. Or perhaps also one of the Hans might work, with some long hair sculpted on -- maybe the Commtech Cantina Han or the POTJ Death Star Escape Han.
Now I need a bit more advice too: which Baroness to use? I know there are a couple of different ones, some with removable glasses and some without, and it also depends what's in my parts box... Bodywise, though, I think it will be one of the taller Leias
Incidentally, what outfits are we all making ourselves in? Costumes? Everyday clothes? Anything else? Depends on the fodder we use, I guess...
... the Findswoman
-
well, i've had my face on the other forums from self-customs but i'm getting a kick outta seeing who every one is. So here i am with my wife.
Dont worry chewie, you arent the only one with a "babyface" This was a little over a year ago. I'm 36 now.
We should do customs of US and our significant other...?
-
My...my, it has been awhile since the last time we chated Esther. (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/froehlich/a010.gif)
Welcome to JD. (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/froehlich/a015.gif)
-
Findswoman, I would suggest the blue baroness from the two pack. You might still be able to find her. You can put her in any star wars or real life outfit you want. How about twi'lik? ;)
I look like an old man compared to all you guys. Sad since I'm the same age as Greg. For Greg we need a Men in Black Will Smith. It would be great. You'd have the sunglasses on in some jedi robes.
-
I think I agree with Findswoman I do have that lop-sided grin that Han has. I havent gotten a good look at the Antilles figure but I think my local target has a few so I'll go check. I think I have a few extra baroness if you need one. If not I know they have the black version of that fig at our Dollar General. Let me know if you need one. As far as Glassman I think there one of the older Stalker heads from The G.I.Joe line would do for you. I think I may have an extra of the one I'm talking about I'll try to find it, and get you a pic. Dont feel so bad Chewie, I'm 32 and I still get IDd for cigarettes. I dont know if I should take it as an insult or a compliment.
-
Or an excuse to quit smoking. ;D
What if you used a modified qui-gon head?
-
I think phurby and Findswoman have good suggestions for you Darth E.
In the past have used lando as a base for my head, but i think i'm gonna whip out the waxpen and see if i can sculpt myself.
I have a question. Are we making ourselves as any specific character? Or is is a free for all?
Like ourself as a jedi or bounty hunter or just any on/thing?
I've made myself as a jedi before, so i think i'm gonna go with a sith version of me. Either that or a Mandalorian Me.
-
Free for all. As long as it kind of looks like you.
-

Welcome to JD. (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/froehlich/a015.gif)
DSJ! Oh my gosh! How are you? It has been a long time, indeed. Hope you're doing well! :)
Glassman, wow, you too look not a day above 18! :D Looking forward to see your self-sculpt -- sounds very ambitious. I agree, spouse/SO customs would indeed be a fun optional addition. I have done one or two of my husband, such as this one in Rebel pilot gear (http://www.geocities.com/findswoman/4inch/XWingSchmuckuss.html), but nothing really serious or involved. Now if I only had sculpting chops!...
Darth Ennis, I've PMd you about that Baroness. :)
And Phruby, as for Twi'lek garb... I'll have my people talk to your people. ;)
Looking forward to seeing everyone's work!

Finds, i hear it all the time. Even when I'm with my 10 year old son and wife, i get carded. I have to ask them do you think i had him when i was 8? (Oh and Smuckuss was hilarious)
So then what character is everybody doing since its a free for all? Like i said, either a sith or a madalorian for me.
-
I honestly don't know why, but now I have the insatiable desire to know what CHEWIE looks like with a moustache. Not a tom selleck one either; one of those old Dastardy Dick-type ones where he can twist the mostache tips with his fingers. Is it just me?

I'm the complete opposite. I'm fifteen and people mistake me for a 27-year-old.
I'd like to see you in mando armour, Then again; I like anything as long as it has to do with mandalorians, so I'm a tad biased. :P
What figure should I use? here are some pics of me doing amuscle sensitivity excercise with Jesse Glover; who just happens to be Bruce Lee's first student.

These are a tad outdated, so I'll post a more recent pic when I find one.
-
Perennial, at first when i looked at that Pic3, I thought that was your arm stretched all the way over both guys.
Cause you are so much taller than them it looked like that at first.
Well, if my head sculpt comes off looking decient, I may do both, but i'm leaning towards the mandalorian.
I'm killing two birds. This and the bounty hunter challange.
-
Bounty Hunter Challenge? I hadn't heard about this one. Wheres it at?
-
I though there were talks here about it for one of chewies monthly's. Bounty hunters or Terrorists.
I could have sworn i read that... Maybe it was just ideas being thrown around
-

It's either for september or for october, but it is slated for one of the coming months for sure.
-
Bounty hunters or Terrorists are for september's CCC (Chewie's Customizer Challange)
-
Actually, I had the worst moustache ever when I was in high school in 94-95. Absolutely awful. I wanted to look older... when I got to college, I realize how stupid it looked and it's been gone since.
So, yeah the rule that Phruby had set for this was to be a custom of yourself, to try and make it resemble yourself, but it could be in any outfit.
The CCC (I like that) for this month is Droids, and for the next two months are as follows -
September - Bounty Hunters/Terrorists
October - Organic Separatist Troops (unless it gets changed to something else)
:P
-
Sounds good to me, Bounty Hunters , and seperatists it is. Count me in for those too.
I wouldnt mind actually doing a Hermione Bagwa as as group project next time around. For anyone who doesnt know she's the human waitress at Dex's Diner. Maybe we could do it after the Snoova? Just a thought.
-
I may have lost something in the translation for the idea. Does the custom of Us have to be how we look or can it be a bit exaggerated on what we would look like in the SW universe? If so, I'll throw in my already completed self-custom as a Jedi for this site of the Project.
-

Was it a Dastardly Dick moustache?

What about Snidely from Dudley Dooright? ;)

Either way Jason. A cartoon version of yourself is a good twist.
-
Chewie for your head, what about the Anakin head from the Jedi vs. Sith battlepack with new hair? I think your jawline is similar.
This threads got me thinking I may join in... just trying to figure out what head would work...
-
Post a picture and we'll tell you.
-
Well that's not a bad idea using that head. tykrazen He does look really young there in that figure! I don't know if I want to spend the $25.00 for an extra set of this though... there are a couple BBI figure heads that I think might work.
:P
-
(http://members.aol.com/tykrazen/private/me.JPG)
Here's me with my daughter at Celebration 3 (Come to think of it, I think this was taken right after Esther's soft goods lesson).
-
Ty, it looks like it might be a little hard to make your hair... I'm pretty sure you are good at sculpting, so you may want to try that.
By the way, when does the "Customs of Us" project end?
:P
-
I'm thinking I should use an Anakin head and change the hair, I used to be told I look kind of like Hayden, mainly around the eyes. but let me know what you guys think
Here I am taking a nap in my recliner with my dog :P
(http://sithlordchaos.250free.com/Blizzardandmesmall.jpg)
And here I am at the FFURG booth at C3, I'm on the far right.
-
Well, I can't see the bottom pic, but I think you're right that an Anakin head could work... maybe even the Crispy Anakin since you both have very short hair. ;)
You could even add a dog custom, using TIMBER from the Gi Joe line.
:P
-
I can see the bottom pic... ???
My hair looks shorter tahn it really is in that picture, it is fairly blonde when it is short.
-
So what do you guys think I should use for my self-custom? I was thinking a Captain typho and then use sculpty to cover the other eye to use as a pair of glasses.
-
Typho is a very good idea - I would probably think that woudl be best for you.
SLC, I still can't see that pic - sorry! :-\
:P
-

:P
Yeah it keeps showing up then disappearing, I don't know what is happening. ???
Perrenial, I think Typho would work, unless you want an eye patch you'd have to do some resculpting though.
-

Or even leave the patch as some sort of battle wound, depending on what character you are??
-
I don't know if you guys have seen this before but the very first casting call at FFURG was customs of us. It's funny seeing all of these figures and wondering where most of these people are now a days. They might give you some ideas for your own figure. Maybe Jason will add our pictures there too. ;)
FFURG Casting Call - Customs of Us (http://www.ffurg.com/casting_call/cc-ff.htm)
-
I checked out the Elite solider at target today. There is one that looks just like Greg with sun glasses on.
I'm thinking of using gi joe Hard Drive for a head for mine. I think he will be somekind of Jedi slicer.
-
this is a good idea i think i'll be throwing my hat in on this one. head of dagobah handstand luke for me. i kind of got messy spiky hair going on. how do i post a picture of myself? chewie you've told me before but i can't find which thread it was in.
-
You need to host the picture at a place like photobucket. They press the little picture button above and put in the url to the picture. Email me the picture and I'll post it if you want.
-
I did a cartoon-ish custom figure of myself a while back using a vinyl figure and have decided to "update" it into a Star Wars character.
I'll post a picture of myself as well as the custom as it is right now later.
Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with~
-
Typho is a very good idea - I would probably think that woudl be best for you.

Perrenial, I think Typho would work, unless you want an eye patch you'd have to do some resculpting though.
I was thining of sculpting on the other eye and making it something like a pair of glasses, but then again, I like the one eye thing- maybe it could be like a rangefinder type thing.
-
I've been thinking of doing a custom of myself for some time now. However been havin a bit of trouble finding a figure tubby enough, I figure Jek Porkins wouldn't be too bad...he's a bit rounder than I am but he could work. I've also thought about using the doc ock figure from marvel super heroe showdown as a base...but those figs are a bit on the pricey side.
The head is the worst part, I don't think they'd sell too many toys with a head like mine...hehehe...lol.
But anyways, I'm up to the challenge, I'll double my efforts to find the perfect tubby figure!!
Btw, are there any figs out there that are slightly balding? Maybe my custom will just wear a helmet.
-
Segnett, if you want to post a picture (or PM me one) I'll see if I can help you out with finding a good base head to start with.
:P
-
Here's a recent pic of me. I used a Kyle Katarn head for a past custom of myself but maybe someone can think of a better one.
-
Maybe a Rykrof Enloe head! I mean Endor bearded soldier. ;)
:P
-
Cool, thanks chewie...I'll see what I can come up with. I got a camera on my phone that takes so-so pics.
-
I really think that a General Madine head would better suit you. The face is more similar to madine aside from the haircut, but I'd strongly suggest using an OTC General Madine Head
-
How about an agent Faces head from the G.I.Joe line? Nadine is a good choice though, just dont use that really bad combover that he had. And as far as the Antilles head it looks similar, maybe with a few modifications i can probably make it better.
-
Ooph the Agent Faces head would be perfect. Now to find one. Most likely ebay.
-
Yeah, well, as segnett will tell you, my figure is just going to be painful.
First off, my wife suggested I base my figure off of Preggers Padme, sheesh!
I think I'm gonna get the bail organa figure, lol.
-
Welcome Narceron!
So, when is the deadline for this anyways?
:P
-
Here's a recent pic of me. I used a Kyle Katarn head for a past custom of myself but maybe someone can think of a better one.

Jurassic Park 3 Military General figure. Just paint on a beard, paint the hair, and wham, it's you.
Kevin
-
Hmm I actually used that figure for my Kam Solusar custom. Since he's still a work in progress I may just go ahead and use that.
-
this is a great thread! i'm gonna have to join in too, the only problem is i have no idea what to use for a head...i don't know if a padme would work or not...maybe the secret ceremony head?
the 12" Biker Scout i am working on looks like my husband so that has him done. i have to be in Royal Guard attire since i am going to be working on completing the costume (finally!) with my aunt who can sew the robes for me - yay! :D
this is a photo of my husband joe and i:
and here we are in costume...at a halloween party last year...i won most gory/scary costume...i wonder why? ;)
-
I think a Mara Jade head would be perfect for you.
-
I agree, a Mara Jade head would probably work very well. Even a Scarlet head from the GI Joe line.
:P
-
Definately Mara Jade there. Sorry, I've been gone all week to respond. This group project will end at the end of september so you have penty of time to collect parts.
-
thanks for the suggestions everyone! i found a couple of Mara's on flea-bay. i'm gonna get 2 just in case i mess up doing the boil-n-pop, this will be my first attempt at that. glad i have awhile to collect parts and work on it. this is going to be fun and interesting!
-
So are you going to do the blaster wond version of yourself? :D
-
^ yeah i can do that Phruby, why not? it'll be that much more fun!
do you think i can still use the Mara Jade body or will i need another body? btw, in the photo i have a chestburster coming out of my t-shirt...its hard to see since its so low res. here is a more current pic with my ERG helmet on ;)
i know what alien to use, one from an older micro machines should be about the right scale with some minor modifications. now i am really excited about doing this!
-
If you go with the helmet, the Jade head will never fit. Maybe if you could make it swap heads it will work. Another figure you could use is the gi joe bombstrike.
-
i was thinking of just having a loose helmet to "hold" if that makes sense, b/c i will have the robes for a complete Royal Guard costume soon enough. i may get armor for underneath like Carnor Jax, but styled in a way more suitable to a female. ;)
the gi joe bombstrike is definitely more well-endowed than myself :-[
thanks for all the help Phruby :)
-
Not sure if I'll try this group project, but here are a couple pics of me (and my girlfriend) from our recent trip to Niagara Falls:
-
The Mara would be good, I'd say, but I think the ROTS Mon Mothma would suit you more (Facially, at least. The hair is a lot different, but hairstyles do change and not faces :P )
-
Gregorbian, you kind of remind me of an old GI Joe sumo wrestler figure I use to have. I can't remember his name. I'll have to look thru yojoe.com for a picture.
-
Great, I'll look around and see if I have any figures that might work if you want to try out this challenge.
:P
-
If you guys can find a decent figure, I might try it out. Right now I'm thinking a Dengar body with one of those Jurassic Park guy's heads...
-
I'm trying to think which head would work for you...an Alan Grant with a sculpted jawline would work real well, methinks.
Kevin
-
The Sumos name was E.Honda, and he was from the Street Fighter subline. You can go ti Yojoe.com and look him up If you would like to see him. But I warn you from my Joe collecting days he was pretty hard to find, and goes for a good bit loose.
-
Here he is. Use a cast of the head. cut off the top hair not and repaint the face.
-
Well that guy looks like he would about three times what Greg weighs! If you use that head, you might need to trim it down some. ;)
:P
-
Of course don't use the body. Just the head. :-[
-
Of course don't use the body. Just the head. :-[
;D gotcha ;)
I did a quick eBay search and it seems that it'll run me between $5 to $10 depending on shipping, so I'll probably see how the Jurassic Park guy head works (from the Raptor set that's currently at KB), that E. Honda head would probably be better though...
-
this is a photo of my husband joe and i:

Does anyone else think Darth Ripley looks ever so slightly like Nicole Kidman in this pic? Too bad they never made any Nicole Kidman figures. But then, maybe it's just me.
I wouldn't use the Mara Jade head though, Ripley. That head would not do you justice. That figure was beaten with the uglysaber. Go with a Spy Troops Scarlett head instead.
And for Gregorbian, I think the E. Honda, while a mite big, is pretty close otherwise. Just gotta lose the top knot.
Are these customs supposed to be us as a Star Wars character, or us in every day life?

As long as it resembles you in some way, you can be a bounty hunting, sith killing, Carbine slinging madman or an accountant with a jolly pinstripe suit. It really doesn't matter so long as it resembles you.
-
The best would probably be a figure of you in a costume and a picture of you wearing the same thing.
-

Im making mine as a Jedi (of course) but I don't have any pictures of me as one so you'll just have to use your imagination. ;D
-
Here's a pic of me...I take very few "normal" pictures. Get me in front of a camera and I ham it up. Behold my Ginormous head:
And just for fun, here's one of me and Jeremy Bulloch a few of you have seen before.
I'm thinking of going with a GI Joe VvV Barrel Roll head for the spiky hair and sculpting on the beard. I may add the sunglasses I have from the Leatherneck figures I have, since I am rarely in the sun without 'em. ;D
BTW, I can't see Chewie's pic. :-\

I have a history teacher that looks just like CHEWIE.

I have a history teacher that looks just like CHEWIE.
He must be a great looking guy then. ;)
Funny though, I almost went into teaching because I kind of would like to be a history professor.
:P
-
Dath D, what about Porkins head? Blonde the hair and give him shades??
-
I'm going to ignore that, Glassman. >:(
Nah, just kidding. I might have taken offense to that if I didn't have a picture somewhere of me and Bill Hootkins, and I swear it looks like he could be my dad. :P
I considered that but the hair's not right, and I think that would be harder to sculpt than the beard.
-DD

Thanks for the nice words DD :) funny you would mention that resemblance to nicole kidman, b/c when my husband and i got married the judge said the same thing to me.
i'm gonna try and get a Scarlett head...Mara Jade is too much on ebay anyhow, i guess she's still pretty popular with everyone out there.
i got my husband's 12" Biker Scout finished last night, so half of my project is done...just gotta move onto my own custom now.

Kids, kids, and more kids! What are kids doing liking Star Wars??? Just kidding. I think it's cool to have some younger collectors into it, especially into customizing.
:P

Wait a minute! When did Justin cut his hair. Now he looks like that kid that played Boba Fett in ep2. :o

I know this, I'm probably the world's only 6'3" filipino :D
-
Thanks for the nice words DD :) funny you would mention that resemblance to nicole kidman, b/c when my husband and i got married the judge said the same thing to me.
Well, thank god for you and Findswoman on these boards. Even though you're both married, the mere presence of females on the site make us all less geeky. ;)
Let me know if you have trouble scoring a Scarlett; I can hook you up.
Cody: Good to see younger customizers in here. It's nice to know we're spreading our sickness to the younger generation. ;D

I suppose its time for an updated pic of me, eh?

It's the first of the month, lets get busy making these guys.

It's the first of the month, lets get busy making these guys.
Oh gosh, Paul, I wish I could, but for two things:
1) The school year's begun, and...
2) The person who was sending me the Baroness had to evacuate from the New Orleans area, so I may not be able to get it for a while. (No rush, though!)
But in any case, I'll be watching everyone's contributions with great interest! :)
... the Findswoman

I was raised in the U.S.

I have yet to decide which body to use, and in deciding, I came up with this hilarious Work-In-Progress pic of my head (Or Captain Typho's if you want to get technical) on an ROTS Threepio body. I'll post pics later when my dad comes home with the camera.
-
Wait a minute, isn't this website for really geeky, die-hard "Star Wars" fans?
I was expecting a picture thread to be filled with "Comic Book Guy" esque mutants.
Everyone here is too damn good looking!
Sorry, folks, I won't be playing this game! Good luck!
-
Is that because you look like the comic book guy?
-
Here is the beginnings of the head I'm using. This is a ep1 Naboo guard without his hat. He's going to be a slicer Jedi so he needs the eletronics on his head. I plan on using a ep1 Mace Windu body with some gloves for hands. I think he is going to be painted black or green. Maybe both.

I might actually go with gi joe hard drive. I'd have to remove his baseball cap and add some hair there.

Hmmm...I don't know. I'm going to have to think long and hard about this. Off the top of my head I'm not sure what would work. Maybe after I am able to look over my dioramas sometime soon I can help you pick something out.
:P
-
Hey I think its great to be able to see what we really look like, super cool and fun to see you all, cant wait for the customs!!!!!
-
I think I'm going to use the gi joe hard drive head for mine. I'm not thrilled with the way the naboo guard head is working. I think I'll also use the obiwan pilot body I have laying around too.
-
I swear when this thread started, i thought, " I have all the time in the world...
Now only 3 weeks left and i havent started.
I've been doing non star wars customs as of late...Dont shoot me, but just had to have some more JLU members in my cabinet.
Ok back to starwars... I'm gonna be a sith...so i got some designing to do. I dont just want customary black robes. I also want to be missing a body part or two..replaces with mechanical substitute.
-
Dont feel so bad Glassman, having to evacuate from hurricane Katrina set me back a ways myself. not only did it set me back but I was supposed to send Findswoman the head for her custom. The really aggrivating fact about this whole ordeal, is that I've got all these great custom ideas recently but no raw materials to impliment them. I've basicly escaped to a dry county as far as figs go. But I look on the bright side. Ive got a lot to work on when i finally get home. ;D

On a related note the PIKES at CSU just got their chapter taken away today.
-
Mine is still coming together. Since I'm a programmer, I'm designing mine to be a Jedi Slicer. That is why I like the eletronic components on his head. I've had to make the 3po leg a little longer so I added a section from his other leg. I think he will be receiving a new hand and possibily a wrist gauntlet computer.

SLC, do you know why their charter got revoked? That sucks. But it doesn't surprise me too much these days... hopefully it wasn't for hazing, which didn't happen in my chapter ever.
Phruby, this is looking great!

Yeah, apparently the Frats and Sororities around here do this thing called "Rise and Ralph" at the end of Rush Week where they all wake up a 5am and go get drunk, this was on a thursday or friday. I'm not sure if you heard about Samantha Spady (she was the girl who died in a frat house last year, it was on the national news), but ever since then the Greek houses are supposed to be dry. The Denver Post (one of the 2 major CO papers) somehow found out and they got in a lot of trouble. The PIKEs lost their chapter 3 other are supended for a year and 4 more are on social prohibiation.

I made a clone (not posted yet) custom and i gave him like a wrist gauntet. All I did was cut apart a CW arc trooper's left gauntlet. I had a hard time cutting it 'cuz I used my X-acto.(dont have a dremel yet :-[ :'()

Ok, here's my Custom of Me - if I were a Jedi, maybe this is what I'd look like.
I haven't named him yet, but I'll probably have him show up in the Rykrof Enloe series, but not as "me" but as some other Jedi.
He's made from the SAGA Outlander Club Obi Wan, a head and hands from an XD figure, and repainted quite a bit.
:P
-
That's pretty good Chewie. I like shocked look on his face.
Since I'm a programmer at my company, I'm taking the approach of me as a Jedi Slicer. Since I always have the latest gadgets around, I figure in the future half my body will be replaced with internet links and robotics. Here is the unpainted version of Jedi Slicer self.

I plan on finishing my custom of me this weekend so I can spend more time on Snoova and my terroriest.

jk ;)
Anyway, how about ep1 Anakin?
-
to round it wpnt work im 14 hes 9 theres a dif anyhoo i was using the epi 1 head for my bros gymnast custom
-
What about a Spy Kids 2 figure? There is a five pack that comes with a kid that looks simular. You would have to paint the hair but it might work.
-
Yikes, I thought you were jumping out of my computer! :o
Maybe a Spy Kids head woud work like Phruby said?
:P
-
Oh, Phruby, that's a great custom you are making. I love the cybernetic head! Wow, great idea.
:P
-
:o I need a knew pair of pants.
Phruby, your's is turningout really good so far. I love the mechanical arm and leg. I've really got to strat on mine.
-
hey Smarty you should try to find the Will Robinson figure from the Lost in Space line a few years back...
Will Robinson (http://cgi.ebay.com/LOST-IN-SPACE-Movie-WILL-ROBINSON-CRYO-CHAMBER_W0QQitemZ5965936036QQcategoryZ348QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Not a great picture, but I have one of those somewhere and it's a pretty good match.
-
pk well ineed a body thats like 5' 3" in scale ??? anyone help with that and once again sorry for the pics
-
Nice custom of yourself CHEWIE ;D
Are you going to give him a Star-Warsy version of your name?
Phruby - looking cool so far, I like the "slicer" aspects to him. The wires on the top of his head are a nice touch. I can't wait to see the finished version.
Smarty - That figure that jokabofe linked to would be a very good head for you. As for the body, what about a Zett Jukassa figure? He's a little taller than the Ep. 1 Anakin figure
-
:o large pics scare me :P j/k
Phruby, your slicer is looking really cool, i like the way you incorporated the ep.1 3PO parts...can't wait to see it painted.
Chewie, i like your Jedi a lot...the expression on the face is great and i like the paint app. on the boots.
i really need to get mine started...things have just been crazy here, my husband had to have a root canal amongst everything else :'(
-
Ok. My custom of me is finished. I gave him an arm pda and fixed is head a little since the 3po head didn't quit fix with the joe head. Remember this project ends at the end of september. Please make sure you get your figures finished before then. Also, make sure to work on the FFURG Snoova.

Swesome choice of parts for that self-jedi slicer. I've got my self-custom almost done, I just need to find some clonetrooper arms that I had on another custom before. I can't find it though :P
-
Looks good Phruby... the only thing I would suggest is a light dry brush on the tunic.
Very, very creative custom. I love it!
:P
-
I'm glad you guys like it. I've updated the picture with a light dry brush on the tunic. It makes it stand out a little bit better. Thanks Chewie for the idea.
-
Here is a close up of the head.

Very cool! That arm PDA is a great touch ;D
-
Thanks. That is the main reason I wanted to do this figure.
-
Chewie, great jedi. The paint job is well done as always.
When i thought of doing another jedi of mysel, that sht base parts i was going to use.
But, my sith is coming soon.
Phurby, great figure. Love the prosthetics! The mechanical brain is the best though.
Id' size down the pda, sort like its "in" the arm rather than on the arm. Like the Bionic man!
Cools stuff guys!
-
Thanks Greg. You've been quite recently. Is everything ok? How is your Snoova coming along?
-
yep, i'm fine...just havent been doing SW figs. I've been on a Justice league kick!
I've made 9 Justice league figs in the past 3 weeks or so.
I've made a couple figs, but i havent posted them, casue they've been done to death...Bacara troops...etc.
Snoova is preped, and i was going to start sculpting yesterday while i watched football, but i got sidetracked with another JLU figure.
By the weekend, i'll have something to show progress wise. Hopefully for both!
-
can you give me a better pic jokabofe
-
Im back to working on my various projects. I finally snagged an antilles figure so Ive got the head. Ive gotten a temporary job here in Gatlinberg so we'll see what kind of free time Im going to have. The library computers are compatible with my camera so hopefully I can at least get some pics up soon.
-
Really nice and original.
-
thanks to DD, i have my Scarlett figure...just need to acquire a Micro Machines Alien for the chestburster, which now appear to be hard to find... ::)
hopefully i can win a set off ebay...and get my project really going :)
Phruby, i really like your slicer, the robotic head and microphone are very nice touches, the whole figure came together great.
Chewie, great paint job as always on your Jedi :)
-
BTW where did you get that pda arm thingamabob?
-
BTW where did you get that pda arm thingamabob?
It's from a G.I. Joe toy, isn't it? Mainframe, a character from the Valor vs. Venom line, I believe.
-
Your close. He's name is Hard Drive from GI Joe Valor vs Venom.
-
Two weeks left for this group project. ;D
-
PLENTY of time.... ;)
-
Hopefully we'll get a few more submissions in guys. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.
:P
-
I should have mine posted tomorrow. Still trying to figure out a backstory. ;D
-
I'm probably going to be a little late with mine but I will have them all posted....eventually. :P ;D

Here is my entry:
Todro Haida was born on Alderaan 15 years before the Battle of Naboo by spice miners. He was found by Ki Adi Mundi and trained by Agen Kolar. Todro learned very quickly and surprised many Jedi Masters even Master Yoda. Was with Agen Kolar at the Battle of Geonosis and got seperated from the surviving Jedi. Thought dead he and Padawan Barris Offee battled numerous Battle Droids to get to safety of the front lines. Yoda and the Jedi Council told him the the Battle on Geonosis was his Jedi Trial and was then made Jedi Knight.
Todro fought on many planets during the Clone Wars and lost many friends including his padawan, a Trandoshan named Koskk. He was stationed on Kashyyyk along with Master Yoda and Master Unduli when the Emperor's "Order 66" was issued. Forunately for him he had gotten lost from his Clone Army when the order was issued and due to the coloring of his robes he was pretty much consealed from any clones that were to follow the Emperors order. He was able to talk to Master Yoda before he left the planet in his escape pod. "Alderaan you must go. Needed there you will be. Last of the Jedi we are."
Able to sneak away in an stolen Arc-170 Todro left the Wookiee planet and headed toward his home planet. A planet he had never seen since Master Ki had taken him from it. Todro felt the tremor in the force when the Skywalker twins were born. When Bail Organa returned to Alderaan with Leia, Bail searched out Todro and asked him to be his undercover watcher over her, just in case the Emperor found out about her. Todro did just that and never had to raise his lightsaber again. He needed the rest. He had been through so much. Todro watched Leia grow into a young Senator for the planet. He knew that she would make the positive change for the universe that was ruled under the fist of Vader and the Emperor. Todro passed along with the rest of the planet Alderran when the Death Star destroyed it. He was now one with the force.
I used a Jurrasic Park General for the head. Cut the neck post and dremeled out the the head so it could fit on the neck post of the Obi Wan Pilot body. And the lightsaber is a POTJ Plo Koon saber painted in some parts with a orange blade.

Very cool!
It's awesome to see how "easy" it is to build supercool jedi with just an obi-wan pilot body. Nice!
-
Very nice MetalJedi! What head is that?
I think that he would look even better if you gave him anither coat of green, some of the original colo seems to be bleeding through. :-\ And then perhaps a bit of a drybrush. I'd paint the inside of the cloak green too, At least near the legs or anywhere else where you can see it from the outside.

The head is from the Jurassic Park General figure. I just added the brown hair and goatee. As for the original color "coming through" that is actually the lighter color I used to drybrush the figure with. If you look at the pic with the cloak on you can see some subtle hints of it as well. The pic doesn't do it justice.
I left the inside of the cloak unpainted on purpose to match he brown on the legs of the figure. I figure I would be different than most Jedi and have a two toned cloak.
-
Looking at it closer I guess I can see that now. I think that a little more pronounced drybrushing would look even better. As for the cloak I guess that makes sense, I have reversible jackets that have two different colors.
And Ignore my comment about your head, I just now noticed you wrote that in the first post. Stupid sleep deprivation ::)
-
Wow! I really like this jedi. My favorite part is the eyebrows. That gives him this, 'Oh really, your going to mess with me? Right.' look. One bad ass jedi.
Well, JD leads FFURG 3 to 1.

Who is that fat guy with the double chin!?!? I haven't put much thought into this challenge, I am not sure what to use for either the head or the body! When Episode I came out, (and I weighed 40 lbs. less ::))I went as Obi-Wan and a lot of people said that I looked a lot like him. Still, I am not sure if I am going to do this one or not.
Let the fat guy and hideous hair cut jokes commence!
-
Sweet donkey butter! coeli, do you work out? Your arms are HUGE!
Kevin
-
First off, Metal Jedi, that looks great! I really like this one and the green colors really set him apart from other Jedi. Very well done. I would suggest using a touch of white for dry brushing. I think it would really bring out the details in this excellent custom that you have put together.
Coeli, you look like you could kick some serious ass in a bar fight. I wouldn't want to piss you off. :)
If you do make a custom of yourself, I do see the Obi Wan resemblance.
:P
-
MetalJedi - awesome custom! The colors you picked are great, I like that it's not very conventional in terms of jedi colors (like a true metalhead ;)). The "lining" of the cloak is a great touch and I think it works fine. Awesome stuff!
Coeli - You could use some of those early POTF2 figures, although I'm not sure what head to use....
-
Hey Coeli,
You are with the customizing family here and I for one do not make fun of anyone, in fact I think it is very cool that we at least get to see what we look like in real life & in fiction, TRU has a line of soldiers that are like gi joe only cooler and their sculpts are amazing, I think I saw one that looks like you, you should check them out.

Let me try again:

Thanks for the comments fellas! TJ, your Jedi is very cool. Got some pics without the robe?
-
Hey, that looks just like you Tijuanajedi! Very nice looking jedi.
-
Good job Tijuana. I would love to see a pic with the robe off (I know that sounds dirty).
:P
-
Well, Meta its been said, but great looking jedi. Color choice is very nice. I would take chewies suggestion and add some color to it by drybrushing.
TJ, more pics please... The face looks great. Which one did you use for your likeness?
-
Everyones looks good! I would like to see their human counterparts though ;D to see how they match up!
Meta, Chewie, Tijuana Jedi Phruby, they all look great!
Meta, I would do as the others suggested and do some drybrushing on your fig.
TJ, lets see a pic with the robe off(that DOES sound dirty!)
Phruby, I want to see a pic of you with all of the implants that your custom has (just kidding!!)
Oh, and if anyone does want to make any fat guy/bad haircut jokes, I would love to hear them!! I know that they would all be done in fun, not like how things get turned around and taken the wrong way in another forum ::)
-
Maybe for halloween. 8)
-
i'm way way behind on my custom unfortunately...with not knowing how bad Rita was going to be, i have had some relatives from Houston staying here with us. hopefully i can start working on it next week...and i'll post it up even if i am past the date.
-
Can't wait to see it Darth_Ripley! Please hurry! ;D
-
TJ - Your custom is looking good so far, but we really need to see him without the robe! :P

my "Self-customs" submission: Myself as a Retired mandalorian soldier-turned Journeyman protector.
Backstory: Dav'sa Arman was once a mandalorian soldier serving under Jaster Mereel's personal unit-- Headhunter company; which specialized in reconnaissance and covert operations and were characterized by their darker armour colourations. While under Jaster's command, Dav'sa served as a commander and was with the mandalorians well past Jaster's death.
He served under Jango until the unfortunate incident at Galidraan, where he, as did most of the mandalorians who didn't die, went his own way. Some went onto become bounty hunters, but Dav'sa had other things in mind.
He went to Concord Dawn to a village and became Journeyman protector up until the clone wars, when a mysterious man in familiar armour named Spar comes to him with a proposition...

Sorry about the non-cropped pics. My dad did a disc cleanup and it removed our Photoshop.
-
I said it in your other thread and I'll repeat it here: I really like this custom. The parts look great and the "plain" look to him is perfect for his backstory. Nice job! ;D
-
Very good work there Perennial. You are really getting proficient with your use of different parts. I am amazed at how far you've come! Cool backstory too.
I might dry brush him a bit, but other than that I wouldn't change anything.
:P
-
Thanks Guys! I was thinking of giving him a grey drybrushing, actually. Maybe a tanone since concord dawn is kind of like the old west and naturally, there's sand there.
-
That makes it 5 for JD. 1 for FFURG. I'll have my Snoova done this week as probably will glassman. So projected I see 5JD to 3FFURG. But we shall see if there are any suprises.
-
I'm still working on one for here too... I changed my mind on the subject... but i should get it done by friday.
-
You mean he's not going to be a sith lord?
-
I need to find a proper head for such a project...
Kevin
-
You mean he's not going to be a sith lord?
I mean he may be my first 12" custom and He may be me as a jedi not a sith.
-
Just so you guys know, group project ends on friday. :o
Please try to get at least a work in progress picture in before then.
-
Crap I have a head, but I need it for other stuff, I wanted to cast it, but there is no way I can learn by friday, I've got a hockey game tomarrow, a test Weds, and the CSU vs Air Force game is on Thursday. :-[ I really want to get in on he next one then.
-
Well, if you're a little late... I can live with that. ;)
:P

Well, if you're a little late... I can live with that. ;)
:P
I can't. >:(
Just kidding. ;)

Update:
Ok Guys here is my custom without the Robe:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/462948259dLbLqP
Plain old jedi.
-
Down to the wire.... I have cast my head this morning, and i gotta paint that tonight.
I will post progress pics and finish product all together.
Since i never customized a 12" figure, i never really understod why people switched the body to a "Dragon or BBI" body.... I get it now.
Wish i had one laying around.
Getting the sash on the tunic the right color is the hard part. I got the under tunic and the pants colored to my liking, i cant get the over the shoulder sash right.
Pics tonight, or tomorrow morning.
-
Looks good Tijuana, plain and simple yet effective. That head is a good match for the Windu body, even if it wasn't a custom of yourself it would still work well as a random custom Jedi.
Glassman, I am looking forward to seeing what you present to us. :)
:P
-
Thanks, since I really just wanted to do an easy figure, lately work has been kicking my butt, I figured it would work, thanks guys.
-
Tomorrow is the last day! Get your pictures or work in progrss pictures in.
-
Yeah, i wanted to do an easy figure too.. But it's not turning out like that.
-
Dude you are a great customizer, I am positive your figure will be fantastic.
-
i can relate to Glassman's situation. i'll get some WIP shots up tommorrow. i got my husband's half of it done last night actually, so i can post pics of him as a 12" Biker Scout :)
-
Cool! Will the helmet be removable?
-
Well, I got my figure done (so to speak) and photographed, but i'm doing a disk clean up and its keeping me from opening photoshop so i can resize em.
Its been a hour so far and its only half way done. So i'll probably just post my pics tomorrow.
-
Cool! Will the helmet be removable?
yes Phruby the helmet is removable and the head i got looks close to my husband. i was able to get a balacava (really bad spelling) just like in the movies and like my hubby wears with his armor. i did some sewing on the doll to make the armor fit the smaller Dragon body better and the jumpsuit is also loose rather than tight. I also replaced the large inaccurate gloves with some nice BBi gloves and painted those black, you can see the comparison pic below. i sewed the chest armor together instead of the ridiculous tab thingys Hasblow had on there. i also cut the holster and epoxied it to the boot to be more movie accurate.
ah, what the heck. here are some photos of my hubby as a Biker Scout. i'm working on my chestburster as we speak...i'll get pics of it WIP up tommorrow, at least i got 1/2 finished on this project :P
i apologize for the photos in advance, i kinda took them in between things drying, so they aren't the best.

Very nice Darth_Ripley! You did some great improvements to that doll. It looks like an actor in a real costume now. Keep working on your chest buster. I bet you will be done this weekend.
-
That biker hubby looks great ripley.
Here is my First 12" custom.
Since i probably wont make any more this scale, i decided to go with my usual Jedi character.
You probably have seen my self customs so you may recognize the color scheme.
The head was a collaboration with Bantha 5. About 3 years ago(before i started sculpting), i contacted him to see if he would sculpt my head for a 3 3/4 custom i wanted to make. I was tired of using lando heads.
He started it but never finished it. And he did a 12" instead of 3 3/4. So he sent it to me a couple months ago cause he said he'd probably never get around to finishing it so i figured i'd finish it some day.
Well i rushed some face details to get this done for today, but the sculpt is far from finished.
I'll fix it one of these days.
The Body and clothes are from ATOC Mace and the Robe is 12" Ben Kenobi. The Collectors Series line not the Latest one that WONT go on sale at Toy's R Us. I got 8 of these 12" figs on flee bay for $25 for the lot.

Anyway, Gla-Gar Gowas...
The cLothes gave me the Hardest time. I decided to try and Air-bruch the color insted of dye it. Well i got everything the color i wanted except the sash over the shoulders.

Darth_Ripley - Awesome Biker Hubby! Definitely a step up from hasbro's version (and that's one of my favorite 12" figures!) I really want to try this out, but I'm very worried about sacrificing my 12" Biker Scout... I think I'll convert my other troopers to BBi/Dragon bodies first (I already did a TIE Pilot) ;D
Anyway, how much did you have to modify the armor (aside from cutting off the strap things on the chest armor and redoing the ankle holster)? I really want to upgrade my 12" Biker Scout but I don't know how to sew, do you think that would be a major problem? I found that the bodysuit of the 12" Clone Trooper fit pretty well on the BBi body, so hopefully that won't be a big problem...
Great stuff, I really can't wait to see how your self-custom turns out! Your hubby is a lucky man! ;D
Glassman - Awesome! The headsculpt looks pretty damn good to me, I'm not sure what you could change, but then again, you're the sculpting expert ;D
I think you should use the BBi or Dragon body (as Darth_Ripley would recommend) - they are way better in proportion as well as articulation. Still, your custom definitely looks sharp.
How does air-brushing work on the softgoods? Was it easier than dyeing the clothing? It looks good although there are bits of the lighter color showing through around the seams...
-
Darth Ripley- I love the Biker Scout custom of your husband. Its done very well.
Glassman - As far as I can see you don't need to change a thing. But then again I don't sculpt. The airburshing kinda of made your jedi robes to be battle worn. I really like it!
-
Great Scott, that is one Amazing Custom.
Great Job!!!!
-
Greg! That looks just like you! I can't believe how close you got that face. Thats a great outfit and the whole figure is a big improvement over your 3 3/4" version. I'm a little disappointed its not a sith lord but maybe you can be turned.
-
Glassman, I was also blown away by your custom.
Outstanding.
-
Thanks guys,
Gregor, Airbrushing wasnt hard, i used to do it back in the late 80's early 90's when hip-hopers were wearing painted jeans and jean jackets.
So since i have a box full of paint from then ( and no they werent dried up!!??) i figured that would be faster than bleaching, then dying...
SO i was using what i had, verses going and buying stuff to do it.
Meta, Thats what i thought also, that the clothes were worn, so i left some of the creases like that. But now that i think of it, it would be the reverse. The creases stay dark and the rest of the fabric wears out. But it works for me as is.
Phurby, It could happen... some of the best jedi have been turned... :) After i get the sculpt perfect, i may do a Dark version... Who knows. My wife wants me to make her now.
-
first of all thanks for the nice words about my Biker hubby everyone :)
Gregorbian, all i did was cut the tabs on the chest armor and poke holes in it to sew it together. i can't sew too well myself either, but i borrowed some curved needles from my mother and those are a life saver for sewing armor on 12" troopers. any fabric store should have them for around $2-3 a pack. the jumpsuit fit the Dragon body fine. it's very tight on the bulky Hasbro body, but it should be more loose like a jumpsuit, not spandex-y if you know what i mean. i also sewed the diaper to the jumpsuit to keep it up higher where it should be - more movie accurate again. the holster is easy to cut off the tabs and epoxy to the boot, just use rubberbands to hold it in place while drying so it will keep its shape. don't be intimidated by the sewing, maybe you could get your girlfriend to help too ;)
Glassman, your 12" Jedi looks great. i really like the airbrushing on the robes and the blue stands out nicely instead of the old brown/tan every other Jedi has.
welp, i was hoping to have WIP pics to show you guys but due to a series of unfortunate events, i am back to square one. i decided to go with a Jedi Leia EU body and a GI Joe Scarlett head (courtesy of DD - thanks again!) Scarlett was just so "well-endowed" that the chestburster could barely be seen :P
so i went to the Leia body and i managed to ruin it with the Dremel. i was working on it this afternoon when the doorbell rang and it startled me and the Dremel slipped and score one ruined Leia body and a cut finger. today just wasn't my day for customs, and i was trying to hurry on getting the custom more put together for pics. but its ok, i found another Leia on flee-bay so i'll pick her up & start over. i learned a lot from my sculpting mistakes in the meantime so i am anxious to get the new body and begin again. suffice to say it's been a long day, but everything happens for a reason and i am ok now.
-
Glad to hear you are OK.
-
thanks tijuanajedi :) its not a bad cut on my finger, i've cut it worse with an xacto blade before actually. i'm a bit of a clutz sometimes i'm afraid. :-X
-
i managed to ruin it with the Dremel
If I had a buck for every time I've ruined something with the Dremel, I'd be a rich man.
B
-
If i had a buck for everytime the dremel slipped and everytime i cut my finger... I'd be able to retire....!
Well rip, better late than never. Still looking forward to seeing it finished.
-
So lets see, the final totals are:
Jedi Defender pulled in 7. Darth_Ripley will finish her version soon making it 8. So currently:
FFURG 4
Jedi Defender 7
I'm really pleased with the response from both forums. I think we should keep doing different group projects at both sites. What do you think?
-
I agree, count me in.
-
Phruby I have my Jedi Scott finished and My Snoova soon to be. I am trying to snap pics and get them posted. It should only be about another week or so. The Librarys arouind here close at about 5:00, and since this is the only computer access I have its been a little tough to get them downloaded. :( But I think they are the best work Ive ever done.
-
Fantastic! I'm so glad you made these figures. I can't wait to see them.
-
Now folks, thats dedication.... Looking Forward to seeing them Darth E.
-
I can't wait to see darth_ripley's chest buster.
Wait a minute that sounded dirty.

LOL Phruby!
my figure should be coming anyday now...finally got one off of flea-bay & i can't wait to get it all done too!
in the meantime, i just finished up my Elite Mygeeto Clone & have a soft goods Obi-Wan Clone General in the works too. i caved in and bought the Jedi vs. Seperatists battle pack since the only Asajj I had was from the animated series and heck there was a lot of good fodder in there!
i'll start a thread of all the customs i have done so far later this month. i am really busy right now with having to sell some things on Ebay (no, none of my customs - not yet anyways) to help pay for my husband's $1400 dentist bill - OUCH! as well as some car repairs too.
i will get this custom finished though, i promise :)
-
Well, Better late than never right. Heres my entry for the group project from August or September, I dont remember which. ;D

He sure is one handsome devil. Let me know what you guys think. Everyone I show it too says the resemblence is eerie.
-
It is errie! Where did you find that head? Your hair is a little darker thought but everything looks just about right. I forgot you were working on this guy. It's good to finally see him. You need to send this to Jason over at ffurg to have him put it in the group projects page. jason@ffurg.com
-
Wow, crazy! The resemblance is perfect :o
Did you sculpt that hair?
-
Wow, all this wonderful stuff that I've missed over the school year... Ripley, Glassman, and Ennis, these are some absolutely fantastic "self-portrait" (or, in Ripley's case, "spouse-portrait") customs. It's fun seeing 12"-scale self-portraits, which are definitely a rarity. Very inspiring! I need to do an updated one of myself, since my hair's shorter now...
Darth Ripley, I've commented on your chest-burster self elsewhere -- it turned out great. Reading your post of Sept. 30 below -- so that's where that spattered blood came from! Just kidding. :D Very fine work.
Darth Ennis, you are absolutely right about the eerie facial resemblance. Both are very handsome devils indeed. :) The face is really spot on; the hair less so, but that's no biggie. What head is that?
Glassman, your 12" Jedi self also has a great resemblance to you, from what I remember of photos you've posted. Hooray for custom sculpting! And the outfit is just superb -- sewn by you, I take it?
Great work all. I know the Group Project or whatever is now officially over, but can we keep this thread around as a place to post our self-customs and such just the same? Phruby, what sayest thou?
... the Findswoman
-
Thanks for the kind words Finds. I didnt sew anything. Those are all Hasbro clothes. I just airbrushed em for a differnt color/look.
As Phruby has said in the past, customs can be added anytime...We set a date so we can have an offical release to shoot for, but late entries are always welcome.
-
I'm all for it. Maybe we should rename the thread to just "Customs of Us". Anybody is free to post their picture and custom of them here.
-
Thanks everyone, I was on a time limit at the time so I couldnt jot down the recipe. The head is from the ROTS antilles with Quigon hair and some liberal amounts of sculpy. The body is Pilot OBI-wan and the boots are ROTS Ki-Adi-Mundi. I havent made it over to FFURG yet to post any pics but hopefully Ill be able to soon.
-
I remember suggesting for you to use that Antilles head, but damn - I didn't realize the resemblance was that good! This really does look like you, excellent work!
:P

You mean the Ep. III Raymus Antilles head? Yes, that would have been a great match for Ennis, too. I've been seeing a number of those at my Target, and if I ever decide to do a Darth Ennis custom... :D

I even like the fact that your figure has the same smirk on its face as you do in the picture.
-
OMG is does have the same smirk! :o
-
The likeness is uncanny. The different use of parts is flawless.
