Trailer available for download at the above site. The soundtrack comes out Nov 14, but the titular single is available for purchase on iTunes, as well as a free preview video.

Is anyone else as excited as I am?? (http://cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/a084.gif)

It won't be as good as will be better than The Departed, but and I like Jack Black so I am excited.

It's not gonna be anywhere near as good as the original Chinese version.

Thumbs down.

I think Black is incredibly overrated, and has gone to this well way too many times.

**** all you haters.  I am going on record as declaring that Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny will be the best movie in the history of all time.

That's not my opinion, that's a fact, jack (black).

If you like Chinese movies and hate Jack Black, you are wrong.  Unless you agree that Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny will be the best movie in the history of all time, you are misdirected about everything in your life and every decision you have ever made or opinion you have ever held is wrong.

Sorry, gang, that's the way it is.

Love,

Jack Black / Kyle Glass Collaboration Fan Number One

How can they both be the best movie(singular) of all time? Are you saying they are tied for the best movies of all time or are they the same movie with 2 different names ::)?

So...when these 2 movies do not become tied for the greatest of all time and that becomes a fact then I guess you will be isolated on an island and will feel the world is wrong then and that every decision everyone made, including creating you, will be wrong?

Quick Q...How many other number one fans of folks do you claim?

With me or against me? Annakin, are you in there? Heh!

I just have to see these movies now....want to know if they are the best films I ever saw.
Anthony(Darth Anton), I know you've seen alot of film..did you feel the Departed was the best movie you ever seen?

Two points:

1) I hate Darth Slothus

2) The Departed is the best movie of all time, because it is out already.  Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny will be the best movie of all time when it comes out, bumping The Departed to the second best movie of all time.  What, you got rocks in your head?

Harry gushes over anything with Black in it...

The jury is still out!

Another reviewer takes a less enthusiastic, though still positive, view. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30557)

Also,

Some sort of new D music video is posted (http://www.stereogum.com/archives/003833.html)

You considered that review positive?  Dull plot?  Few jokes?  Toned-down Jack?  No real fantasy?  Lackluster script?  Called a D fan's "Phantom Menace?"

I wouldn't call those descriptors positive.

Hmmm. He also says "It's an entertaining enough popcorn movie with some great music and some decent laughs" and acknowledges that "my opinion of the movie [was] affected by my level of anticipation"....

...But on second read-thru, you are correct.

You forgot to put the "nicholson" after your 'that's a fact, jack'  ;)

Massawyrm at AICN doesn't think too much of it. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30717)

But Quint likes it. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30720)

In other news, the release date has been moved out to Wednesday the 22nd.

It was as I expected.  Some good jokes, some bad jokes, great music, and vulgar as hell.  :)

Got the new CD tonight... haven't had a chance to listen to it in depth, but the quick skim I did sounds pretty good.

My buddies and I saw it yesterday (along with Casino Royale, which was great BTW).

I thought it was the coolest damned thing I've seen in ages. I loved the cameo appearances, which I won't spoil here. I had been hoping to see a few of the past songs on the big screen in addition--especially considering there were spots tailor-made for "Tribute", "Lee", and a few others--but I can see how they wanted to go for all-new material and not mix in the old stuff.

Looking forward to seeing it again, too.

From BoxOfficeMojo.com:

Quote
Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny delivered Jack Black's flabbiest opening yet, bagging a discordant estimated $3.1 million at 1,919 venues for $5.2 million in five days. Rock 'n' roll movies frequently flop, and Tenacious D was comparable to Airheads.

Sad ... however, it's only the first weekend and I think this is the kind of cult film that will not depend on opening gross. I know I'll go see it at least one more time.

I saw it Thanksgiving night, and until the previews started it was only my wife and me in the theater.  Three more people came in during the previews, but that was it.  I'm not surprised to hear of its lack of success.
