Star Wars Action Figures / Juno Eclipse from The Force Unleashed
« on: November 19, 2008, 12:12 AM »
Heya, just thought i'd post a couple WIP shots of Juno Eclipse, using Ice. I got the tunic done the other night, and almost had it the way i wanted on the first try too LOL. But then i got looking at it, and the tunic wasn't long enough. She looked more like Jedi Luke before the Death Star duel.

I tried making the code cylinder by tearing apart another headphone plug, but it didn't quite turn out how i wanted, and the sleeves looked a little on the short side, so i ripped the sleeves off, slit it up the middle to make it easier to work with, then sew up an overtunic that was longer (basically i copied hasbro's idea for Count Dooku, since he's got the only Imperial-style uniform in my collection...note to self, track down a Tarkin! :lol )
I would have let it go after i fixed the tunic, but then i got looking at Juno some more, and decided to go with the Cardback artwork for her, since i thought the cleavage strip they cut out of her tunic for the ingame model was more than a little gratuitous (Jungle Girl Shaak Ti notwithstanding) That meant making the cap.

This was my first attempt at the cap, and it took me since Friday to get THIS far. I was tempted to leave it like that and worry about the rank badge, but it started to bug me, so i added the other flaps that fold up and make it look properly. Now all that's left to do is add the rank badge, and the ornament to the hat itself and it should be finished! :D
(well apart from taking pics of the final outfit that is LOL)

Finally got the rank badge and hat ornament (or "greeble" as it's apparently called :lol ) done.

I made the Code Cylinder out of a headphone plug, just stripped of the wire, and the rank badge is some seed beads, as is the hat greeble (who names this stuff anyway? :lol ).

I took some more pics since the flash seemed to blow out the highlights in the last pics i took.

Enjoy! :)

Star Wars Action Figures / I'm Ahsoka, Master Yoda sent me...(pic heavy)
« on: September 15, 2008, 09:14 PM »
Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my latest bash with you. I got the idea when i first saw the Clone Wars bobbleheads from Mcdonald's. Then i was browsing around and saw Findswoman had a nude Shaak Ti on her trade list, and it got me to thinking (i know...scary thought  :) ) Two weeks of going to all the nearby Mcdonald's to see if they had the Ahsoka bobblehead in yet later, i finally got a pair of them (just in case i totally destroyed one dismantling it)

Anyway, here's the result...I think i might have to get some darker red material to remake her tube top, skirt and then also some forearm guards...but so far so good i think.

Here's a pic of the source material, in case anyone hasn't yet seen her:

and to begin, the rough WIP shot that i posted in my other thread about the bobbleheads. I did this just to see how close the head was, scale wise (which worked surprisingly well) :

And now some more shots of the outfit that i did tonight...I had to borrow the lightsaber hilt from a Hoth Luke, but for now it works.

There's still some work to be done on the outfit, and i need to make some forearm guards, and maybe make the lightsaber hilt from scratch, but for now i think it turned out ok.

Star Wars Action Figures / Another use for the Mcdonald's SW Bobbleheads
« on: September 14, 2008, 07:21 PM »
I went out and got a Boba Fett one for the sole purpose of seeing if it'd fit on a 1/6 scale figure. (I've been on a Mandalorian bender the last couple weeks...don't ask...)

It doesn't look like much, but after you remove it form the ship (just a little rocking from side to side) and then a lot of grinding and cutting with a dremel, and breaking out the inner pins holding it together with pliers...(luckily i didn't have to glue mine back together.)

You wind up with a serviceable Mandalorian helmet! And it's not really that far out of scale from the last Hasbro 12 inch Boba Fett (the "Vintage OTC" version) Here it is on a Power Team body (thought I'd kill two birds with one stone, and introduce the world to Mini RtB! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

As you can see i got a little TOO close with the dremel when i was grinding down the inner pins on the helmet. :( Oh well, just Battle Damage! LOL :p

And now, some gratuitous shots of Mini Me...

For anyone who's been wanting it, here's a nice closeup shot of the lightsaber i made from a guitar plug (1/4 inch phono plug...you can get a 2 pk of em at Radio Shack, or Circuit City, wherever you can get electronic components and such...i tore it all apart and reassembled it how i wanted to)

Figures...even without the helmet he has more luck with the ladies than I do :(

I think this shot really highlights the resemblance to me...i'm just weird LOL...<br /><br />

oddly enough Lex didn't seem to wanna beat him down like she does me...(sighs) Enjoy!  :)

*UPDATE*

Just wanted to give everyone an update...the regular bobbleheads seem to work well on 1/6 bodies as well.. at least Ahsoka's does...Here's a WIP shot of Ahsoka...Thanks a million to Findswoman for the Shaak Ti body! :D

Ok ok, so it's not really THAT elaborate, but hey, start small and work your way up right? I did this for a Halloween kitbash contest over at another board. I lost, but I'm still really proud of how this turned out, especially since it's the first time i've ever sewn anything like this :)

And just since i didn't have a 12 inch Greedo for her to shoot first;) , Here's a couple shots of her with my KB Chewie.

She liked THIS shot because she finally got a chance to say "Laugh it up, Fuzzball!"

And just because BIG Chewie can't exactly go Trick or Treating with her, she's STILL got a co-pilot for those treacherous Candy runs down Kessel St. ;)

And lastly, to anyone who doesn't like my sewing skills, here's what SHE has to say about it:

"Who's "Scruffy looking"?!"  ;D

Parts list:
Cy Girl "Aurora" Head
Cy Girl 2.0 Body
Soldier Story Hands
Cy Girl "Destiny" Bootfeet
Belt is from Joanna Dark (catsuit version)
Blaster (and holster) from Hasbro Hoth Luke, tied on with some copper wire.
Vest, shirt and trousers handsewn.

And i know the Bloodstripes didn't come out quite the way they're supposed to be, but I didn't have the patience to do a series of little red dashes of thread down the side of the pantleg. THAT, and i still wanted to keep SOME semblance of eyesight  ;D

Just in case anyone wanted to see more detail, i finally got around to taking some more pics of her. I'm still getting the hang of my digicam, so i apologize if the focus isn't the best.

Just a close up shot of the collar, even though it's longer on the left side than the right.

Closeup shot of her Co-Pilot for those candy runs down Kessel Street.  ;D

Since i was hand sewing everything, i didn't take as much time as i should have to sew up the edges to keep from fraying... The vest is made from a piece of microfiber cloth taken from an old trenchcoat i'd worn out (nothing like old clothes for spare cloth...cheaper too!  ;D )

Just as an aside, Aurora is one of my favorite CG headsculpts

A Closeup of the cheat i did on the Bloodstripes. It would have taken me forever if i'd cut the red strip into the tiny red dashes that made up the original.

Now a shot of the shirt...amazing what sins the Vest hides! LOL. I didn't use a pattern for any of the outfit. I simply cut the cloth in rectangles, measured to the width of the figures shoulders and hips (stretchy cloth is your friend especially here...you just have to make sure that if it's 2 way stretch, ie: most regular Tshirt material, that you have it oriented so it stretches the way you need it to  ;D )

Now the Right side, which turned out a bit better. I wasn't planning on the shirt to show off as much belly as it does, but on her, it doesn't hurt  ;D

Now a shot of the vest, turned inside out, just to show you the basic shape i went with. Just a simple rectangle, folded double, stitched up the sides, then the front cut down the middle and a neck clipped out with scissors. Brain dead simple and nearly impossible to screw up :D   Also shows off the fact i could reverse the fabric and resew it and it'd be a totally different look altogether.

Now the vest right side out. I know i didn't do the pockets and stuff that the original had, but i was pressed for time, and most of the time, pockets at 1/6 just look weird to me. Just another judgment call

Another closeup shot of the collar and shoulders.

Shot of the other Bloodstripe and also the Holster from Hoth Luke (I'd cut it off the hoth luke belt for a Jedi Luke custom i did months ago), attached to the Joanna Dark belt with some copper wire. Also thought the stitched up pantleg would add to the "scruffy looking spacer" look i was going for...(actually i'd nicked the material when i was cutting it and i figured the ripped jeans look was too early 90s  ;D  )

same again, just a bit wider angle. You can't see in the shot, but i took a drill bit and gave the DL-44 a bore as well, but i haven't gotten around to touching up the muzzle with silver paint, so all you see is a black spot :(

Hope you like it! :)

I've been toying with this idea for awhile, and now that i got my AA PB, it can be realized. I figure i'll jump on the bandwagon and set her in the "legacy of the force" era. Therefore, she's Lando's granddaughter, Elandra Calrissian. She was raised in secret on Kashyyk by Chewbacca's sister Kallabow (wookiees tend to be long lived), and a modified YVH droid...consequently she's quite a wild child, much to her parent's chagrin (it's 4 AM, i don't have time to come up with ALL her backstory! LOL)

in case the links don't work:

So far the recipe includes:
BBi AA Perfect Body
Andromeda Dylan Hunt Uniform (tunic and pants)
Hasbro AOTC Obiwan boots
Lightsaber holster is cut from the belt of Hoth Luke, just tied on and tucked under the bottom of her tunic
Lightsaber (barely visible) is made from a Phono plug (like on electric guitars) that i tore apart and reassembled
Episode III Clone trooper blaster (i know haz, i know, I shoulda just cracked open the weapons set i got with her, but hey, i had this on hand and i was lazy :lol)
Shades are courtesy of Destiny
belt is just a strip of leather from the junk drawer (aka the top of my desk :lol )

I'm not sure if this should go here, or in Customizing, but here goes. I was working with the 12 inch Saga dooku last night, trying to get the head off for a custom i was planning...all i wanted to do was see what type of neck peg he had, ie: was it a 2 piece design like the ROTS clone, or a single piece of rubber, like the Saga AOTC obiwan, episode I Darth Maul, etc. Well disaster struck...Since i'd had no trouble popping the neck peg off the clonetrooper without having to boil N pop, I figured i could do the same with Dooku. The neck peg finally gave out, and tore off, leaving a stump of white plastic in the neck well. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried ffurg, as well as google, but they only had repair instructions for dragon bodies. I've only started collecting/customizing 12 inch figures this year, and i'm not too sure what dragon bodies are, though i've heard of others using them in place of the Hasbro bodies. Right now, Dooku looks ok if i leave him in more or less a neutral pose, but i was kind of hoping to use him for a headswap to make a Jedi Luke 12 inch <just swap the head, and either make up a belt, or a custom vest thing like he wore to Jabba's palace. Can anyone help me? Or am i stuck with using some crazy glue to put the ball back on the post, once i get it free of the neck piece? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Anyone else think they've gone off the deep end with making them next to impossible to open? <or to put back together in close to the original condition>I finally cracked open Bariss Offee tonight...not only were the tabs a royal pain to pick apart without wrecking anything <hey, i'm a careful opener LOL> but once i got the tray with the figure out, her cape was SEWN to the cardboard in two spots! That's fine, then i notice they used regular electrical wire instead of twist ties. Does hasbro just want people to throw the boxes away once the figures have been opened?  Or am i just a crazy packrat? LOL Thanks for letting me vent everyone...Bariss would make a kickass Assaj Ventress too...she's bald under the balaclava thing under her cloak hood...just a little paint and a pair of custom sabers, different top and voila!

Star Wars Action Figures / RichardTheBloody's Custom Figures
« on: November 17, 2005, 07:19 PM »
WOOOT!!! I finally did it! I took put my AOTC 12 inch Obiwan Head onto the body of the ROTS Clone trooper <anyone else know they had 2 piece heads? The helmet itself, then a neck piece/spacer plug> I actually did it last night but i was too chicken to take the neck piece off the clone, leaving obiwan's neck a tad too long... Pics to follow. Now i just have to sew up a jedi Robe...i have the cloth, and i was going to use Maul's as a template, cause i'm leaving the Episode I Qui-Gon unopened  :D:D:D:D:D
