Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2006 TRU Clone Wars Gunship
« on: June 5, 2006, 01:39 AM »
They are sitting at the local TRU's.  I just think they are priced way to high for collectors to either buy or buy a second one. As for clearance . . .  TRU holds onto the product for 2 to 3 years it seems before they clearance.

Picked this up yesterday at a local TRU.  I have to say that the pack has fulfilled my worst dreams. The 3 blue arcs are just repaints of the orginials. The Red Arc Commander is articulated, but not to what I consider SA. The AT RT repaint is not the best, not bad just not great. His gun is very small and not a equal to what is in the caroon.  I'll take some pictures and post them later. I'm only going to keep it because my son realy wants it.

As I have been looking at the Flight Crew guy, I realized he looks like a younger Sebastian Shaw/Anakin Skywalker from POTF (at least to me). I have to agree, that this figure is good custom fodder but that is about it. For me, Gragra is the only figure I think I want for sure, maybe 2 or 3 Flight Crew guys for customizing. Maybe.

Since I'm passing on the Naboo wave I'll spend the money on one of these. Much better deal IMO.

I looked at the pictures and to be honest, this is a wave I am not going to pre-order nor will I actively hunt for. IF I spot a Gragra I will pick one up, and if I don't no big loss. This is the first wave this year that looking at it, I can say with total assurance, I'll pass. Nothing here is of nterest and nothing here is worth my money.

In surfing I have seen pictures at other sites confirming that these have hit the TRU's.  Also know someone who works for TRU and the warehouses are getting them in. The hunt is up for anyone who wants to find em at retail.

Nice to see that this wave looks like it won't be hard to find. I am resisting the urge and just hoping that EE comes through with my case!

Jared, awesome pictures! I would say of any wave this year, this is the one I want the most, and your pictures turn up the heat!

A friend today said he got called and told that the wave had hit in So. Cal. but I've seen no post anywhere on this (it hit a Wally in So. Cal.).

Jared, thanks for the info. I checked my order and it actually was 4/19 and based on what you said I think I am still in the safety window.
I don't mind waiting 3 weeks after they hit retail if it means that I don't have to hunt em done. I'm so swamped right now that hunting has to take a back seat. To be true, as I've said elsewhere, it is cheaper for me right now to order a case from EE, then to waste  the gas to get the items. Here's hoping I see em by the end of June!

Question. I have the Tatooine wave on order from Entertainment Earth. For those who have been ordering from them lately two questions.

First, what are the chances that EE receives sufficient quality to cover the pre-orders? Mine was at the end of March first of April. Guess I am worried after what happened to others with the UGH cases, but I am not overly concerned about that with this wave.

Second, lately when has EE been shipping versus product showing up at retail?

Saga Collection '06 / Re: ? for openers
« on: May 21, 2006, 05:37 PM »
Perceived value is what it comes down to. Having said that, and since I am an opener on 99.9% of figures, I always ask myself this question: name me one Star Wars figure out of the basic line that would

a) pay for one of my children's entire college
b) allow me to retire
c) allow me to buy one luxury item like a boat, fancy car, etc that you normally couldn't like a Porsche etc.

Bottom line, there isn't, so I really don't worry about it. Since I am an opener, the only way I keep something carded is IF I for some weird reason end up with mutiples, I will open one and keep one carded for future trade bait. When I do that it is on those figures that are hard to find, or that were in great demand.  Bottom line, I open because I like to display my figures. IF I was in this to really collect and make money, I would be collecting on the high end, I would not be buying 3 3/4 inch Hasbro  figures. I would probably be trying to buy movie prompts and items used in the movie. Then again, if I could do that, I probably would have the money to do whatever I wanted anyway.

Got another revised ship date today. It's now June 1st. :P

Ditto. I am actually thinking about canceling the order and not even buying these . . . I have the Red Arc and Blue/Gray Arc's from the CW and I am thinking that is enough. We'll see, but knowing me I'll still probably buy em, maybe, just because I like, maybe.  . . .  .

I guess we could start having some fun with this and come up with some stupid or wachky idea of where they are at. One is this is all a marketing plot by Hasbro to see how many gunships they sell so they know how many BP to make for retail. Only problem with my theory is that are already made.
Theory 2 is that they got shipped to outer Mongolio, or Siberia and they are still waiting for the spring thaw to hit those reasons. Yeah, theory two works for me.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases

Found a ROTS Shock Trooper and Anakin Sith Eyes Red at a Wally today for the clearance price of 50 cents! That's 53 cents with tax or 1.06! Man, if only you could buy figures for that everyday.

Picked up 7 SA clones for customizing (and to keep 1 clean).  Saw plenty (24) of the new Unleashed wave, Coruscant Wave and the Hero's and Villians.  I will post this in the ROTS thread but the Walmart I went to had 2 ROTS figures; a Shock Trooper and a Sith Eyes Anakin. I scanned em and they were only 50 cents (53 cents with tax).  So I had to get the Shock Trooper and the Anakin for some customs.
