No no, this all makes sense.  I'll know what needs to be done in the evening on November 3rd.

That guys stuff is fun.  Lotta good old food recipes.  None I can try because I burn pop tarts but yeah I have fantasies of making these puddings and drinks at the holidays out of a Dickens novel.

Use promo code Happy25 to get $25 off a buy-it-now Ebay purchase, today only and one time use.  The offer came out a while ago, but I didn't see it in my messages.  Tested it out and it worked for me!

So based on this email I got from them, eBay is now managing payment directly without Paypal?

They want my SSN, which I'm not really thrilled about.

Have you guys gone ahead and filled this out? The email basically says it's do this or no more selling on eBay.

Yeah, they switched me over to direct payments at the end of August. It has been pretty seemless as far as impact to my financials.

The upside was no more PayPal fees.

They do daily deposits Mon-Fri straight to my bank account, the funds show up in 24hrs. Sales from over the weekend are usually in my bank account on Wednesday morning.

Downside seems to be when a buyer has an issue that they report, eBay automatically puts those funds on hold (there have been a lot of delayed shipments since the beginning of December thanks to the USPS, and buyers have taken it up with eBay even though they have a tracking number.)

I still think one of my projects this year will be to set up a dedicated webstore and ween myself off of eBay as my primary storefront. It is great for exposure and I will still use it to advertise new stuff, but the fees still add up and I could get a wider selection out for sale without having to worry about listing thresholds and other fees.

Ugh... thanks for the info.  I don't really want to give yet another company who can get hacked my SSN.  I'm not a web store, I'm a garage sale.  The idea that they charge sales tax for my used crap is already kind of ****** up to me, now this...

I was getting a ton of emails about managed payments a few months back then they all seemed to stop. I haven’t noticed any changes to my listings or payment options, so fingers crossed it stays that way. I much prefer using PayPal so I would hate to lose that.

I agree the sales tax thing is total Horse ****.

I ignore them too, now I'm getting emails that say they are giving me a couple of extra weeks and that if I don't sign up I won't be allowed to list anymore.

It's funny how when SS numbers were initially issued it they were not supposed to be used as a form of identification.
