Title: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures
Post by: Ryan on October 12, 2005, 08:58 PM
http://www.gateworld.net/news/2005/10/sg-1atlantisactionfiguresi.shtml

Gateworld reported today that Diamond Select Toys just got rights to make Stargate figures. They will be 7 inches tall.

For me this is good and Bad news. I have been working on a series of SG-1 customs for awhile now and I was hoping that they'd be unique. :-\ This is one line I can definitely see myself getting into though. :)

The first wave has been announced. It will be Col. Jack O'Neill, Dr. Daniel Jackson, a Serpant Guard, and Gen. Jack O'Neill.

They will all be packed 3 to a case with the expection of Gen. O'Neill which will be short packed at one per case.

Oh man if these were in the 1:18 scale, I would so be buying these. I've wanted to make customs of the SG-1 team much as you're currently doing Ryan, but no time in it for me. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on these though...

Well the first prototype images of Daniel's figure have surfaced. (Credit goes to gateworld.net on this pic.)

Hmmm, maybe I won't have to make a 3 3/4" scale gate after all...

There was a FCBD (Free Comic Book Day) Jack O'Neill that was a give-a-way piece on May 6th. I had to go to secondary market to get one.

If this toy is any indication of the line this will be a decent line for standing around and looking cool, but low on the playable scall. Not a lot of articulation and needs a flat serface to stand on.

Yeah I missed out on that too, I've been trying ebay but haven't had any luck at a decent price yet.

Then I found out there is a WWLA Exclusive Jack O'Neill figure that is limited to 500. Plus if you go to Diamond Select Toys (http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/) and click on the Stargate logo you will see the special about the mail a-way Elite Serpent Guard & about the unpainted versions of the toys that they are randomly sticking in cases.

My wife is going to kill me over this new collection.

I think for now I can pass on the unpainted versions. The mail-away Jaffa on the other hand, I'll need a couple. :)

I did pick up two FCBD O'Neills yesterday so I'm good in that department.

I just saw this story about an exclusive Daniel Jackson at the Philly Comi-Con
Excluxive Daniel Jackson (http://www.wizarduniverse.com/conventions/philadelphia/WW20060517-star.cfm)

Anyone out in Philly that can grab one for I would appreciate it.

Wow! I've got to get some of these someday... but I have no clue where to look for them. I don't see myself collecting the whole line, just basic figures of each team member and maybe a Serpent Guard or something... if nothing else I want to get at least one normal Daniel though- preferably in the normal uniform rather than the exclusive thing.

I can't tell much abou the articulation, but they've done a far, far better job with the likenesses than I was expecting- Teal'c looks exactly like Christopher Judge in these pictures. I'm very impressed :)

I doubt they'll make him, but I'd love to see a season 1-2 Daniel figure, with the hair, and also with glasses. Sadly, it seems they really like to downplay the existance of Daniel's glasses whenever possible, I've noticed- any excuse such as going crazy or dying or ascending seems to work for removing the glasses in the show ;)

Of course... if they don't cost like $25 apiece or something and I ever get good at molding and painting, and using some small clear pieces of plastic, I could forseeably make such a Daniel... hmm.

So many interests, so little money :(

I got one of my FCBD O'Neill's in the mail today. For the most part I’m pleased with it, mainly because it is the first Stargate figure I own. But like any other figure it’s not perfect.

PROS-

For the most part the paint application is pretty good on mine. They weathered the pants nicely and the t-shirt has some really nice subtle highlighting on it. All the paint seems to be in the right place, there isn't any smudges or extra blobs on mine where there shouldn't be. There is a very nice variety of coloring too. They have got the bases green and then the belt was done in its correct lighter color, with all the belt loops nicely painted on. The little buckle is also done in black to the skin is all smooth and one color and they did a good job on the hair. The highlighting is very well done

The body sculpt is fantastic, the wrinkles and folds in the clothing look perfect. The collar on the T-shirt has all the little ripples and stitching that real shirts have.  The belt is very nicely textured and has all the little loops and buckles sculpted on. The face doesn't look exactly like RDA from the front, but when you look at it from the side it is dead on. He comes with a good amount of accessories, a P-90, a zat gun, a radio, and a GDO. The paint on the accessories is pretty good as well. They captured the silverish-purple of the zat perfectly. The radio's speaker has a nice bit of paint on it that really adds another layer of texture, and makes it look less plastic. The GDO's keypad is painted in a darker shade of grey giving it the same effect. Various little screws have been colored in on the P-90 which is pretty cool, but its paint app will be addressed more later on.

POA

1 Head/Neck (Ball jointed)
1 Waist (Swivel)
2 Shoulder (Standard Swivel)
2 Bicep (Swivel)
2 Elbow (Swivel)
2 Wrist (Swivel)
2 Hip (Standard Swivel)
2 Knee (Swivel)

That's 14 total. The lower arms, where the skin is showing, are done very nicely. They have a good amount of articulation without having so much that the sculpt is compromised. The swivel elbow and swivel bicep combo is actually preferable to ball jointed elbows in this case. The bicep articulation is hidden by the T-Shirt sleeves and the swivel is less of a detraction on the sculpt than a ball joint would at the elbow. The neck, like the lower arms, is fine. All figures should have ball-jointed heads, especially in this scale. It really is nice to be able to give the head a little tilt when posing it, it can really give the figure more personality. I would have liked to have seen the waist be ball jointed as well, but that is really just a minor nit-pick and I can live without it. This figure has 14 POA which is as many as one of Hasbro's SA figures, but it certainly doesn't feel that way.

CONS-

O'Neill doesn't hold the weapons, mainly the P-90, very well. It is hard to tell if it is the hands or the weapons themselves causing the problem. I believe it is more the fault of the P-90 though. The sculpt looks a little goofy and isn't that accurate really. It appears to be a little too large as well. And considering the detail the added by painting the little screws they missed the biggest paint difference, the clip. It should be a different color than the rest of the gun. I wish the sculpt had been as good as Marauder’s 3 ¾” scale P-90, they really seemed to capture the feel much better than DST.

I’m used to thinking of 14 POA as Super Articulated. Then again I’m also used to collecting 3 ¾” figures. The shoulders are just plain old swivel joints, this would be ok on a smaller scale figure but on something this size it is much easier to add ball-joints and really is inexcusable. Without them it really is hard to get the arms to look right while he is shooting at the invisible bad guys on my desk. The neck, like the lower arms, is fine. All figures should have ball-jointed heads, especially in this scale. It would have been cool if the waist had been ball jointed as well, but that is really just a minor nit-pick. My major gripe with the articulation comes with the legs. The standard hip joints are perfect acceptable. I’ve got no problem with them. DST seems to have taken a page out of Hasbro’s book lately though and has elected to give the legs the short end of the stick for whatever reason. Like some of the latest TSC figures, namely Sora Bulq, Veers, and Jerjerrod, there is a knee joint but it is swivel. Having a swivel joint at the knee is absolutely pointless. All it does is allow him to have a foot facing the other way when he is standing there. When O’Neill is wearing this particular outfit he is usually on base, either at a briefing, eating some food, or he is in someone’s lab talking with them. In almost every one of these places he is sitting down. Without ball-jointed knees this is impossible. Not have a ball joint there really detracts from the figure in my opinion. At the same time some type of ankle joints would have been nice too, preferably ball-jointed ones. There is no excuse for not having these joints really. Lord of the Rings figures are done in the same scale and have up to 32 POA, without compromising the sculpt. So it is possible to make these SA without them looking horrible. I’d have been fine with 16 if they had been done right. The standard articulation for these Stargate figures should look something like this:

1 Head/Neck (Ball-jointed)
2 Shoulder (Ball-jointed)
2 Elbow (Ball-jointed)
Or
2 Bicep (Swivel) and 2 Elbow (Swivel)
2 Wrist (Swivel)
1 Waist (Swivel)
2 Hip (Swivel)
2 Knee (Ball-jointed)
2 Ankle (Ball-jointed)
And then every once-in-awhile they can throw in some SA figures with more than the standard 14 or 16 POA.

While for the most part the paint is really, really good I noticed mine had a scratch on the tip of the nose. And I heard that this may be a recurring problem, due to they way it was packages, so that is kind of a shame. It would have been nice if the shoelaces had been given a grey dry-brush so they stand out a bit more, but that is also just a minor detail.

One other thing I noticed is there are no peg-holes in the feet. The figure stands fine without them but it is always nice to have them there just in case.

OVERALL-

While the figure suffers from crappy leg articulation and a funky P-90, I still think this one is worth picking up. He can stand around, and hold his P-90 with two hands and look good while doing it. Unfortunately there will be no sitting down for him anytime soon.

Dead on review Ryan.

I showed a co-worker of mine the LA Con Jack O'Neill piece and he thought that the toy line looked amazingly close to actual representation. He especially liked that if you buy all of series 1 & 2 that you get a to scale version of the gate itself.

Few idea's for future series...

SGC Personel -
General Hammond (Don S. Davis)
Jonas Quinn
Col. Mitchel
General Landry (Beau Bridges)
Vala Mal Doran
Col Chekov (Russian Command)
Maj. Davis
Dr. Frasier
Walt Harriman (Chevron guy)
Dr. Lee
Rodney McKay (Prior to Atlantis)

NID
Col. Maybourne
Col. Simmons (Jon de Lancie aka Q)
Senator Kinsey

System Lords - (All should come with light up eyes)
Apophis/Bynar
Anubis (Glowing head)
Ba'al
Hathor
Yu
Niriti
Osiris
Tanith

Tok'ra -
Anise/Freya
Lantash/Martouf
Selmak/Jacob Carter

Jaffa
Bra'tac
Gerek
Rak'Nor
Rya'c

Aliens
Unas
Re'Tu
Replicators
RepliCarter
Fifth
High Chancellor Travell (Tollan)
Narim (Tollan)
Nox
Oma Desala (Ancient)
Orlin (Ancient) 2-pack of child & adult

So I went a little overboard. But even if they do 1/2 of these figures we are still looking at nearly 5 more series of toys based on the 4 per series.

Plus The following Ships & Sets would be cool -

Death Glider
X-302
Pal'tak of a Ha'tak
Dialing Computer Room of SGC

If you are a big Stargate fan the kid that Orlin in the season 9 episode "The Fourth Horseman Part 1 & 2" is in X-Men 3 Last Stand as Leach aka "The Cure". It isn't until he speaks that you actually know it's him.

There are quite a few people in the X-men movies who have been in Stargate actually. X-Men is filmed in the Vancouver same as Stargate. The White House set in the last two episodes of Season 7 (Inauguration and The Lost City) was the same set the White House Scenes in X2 were shot on.

I always like looking for Stargate actors in other TV shows and movies. :)

Philly Con Photo's (http://afigures.com/g/?mode=album&album=2006_Wizard_World_Philadelphia%2FDiamond%2FSG-1)

I was doing some looking around for more info on when these are coming out. I am getting a big case of the jitters for this line. I notice that they are making a RepliCarter and Tel'c with the heavy staff weapon. So that will be cool.

I got my Daniel Jackson from Philly CON on Friday but something is wrong. According to everything on T&S.com and all the info on Wizard Universe that the DJ was suppose to be a run of 200 figures. Mine says it is 73 of 1000. So what gives?
Title: Re: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures

Does it actually have the Philly COn Sticker on it, supposedly some of the other cons were going to have the same figure but with higher run numbers. Or maybe they changes the run number at the last minute.

New Force is supposedly getting Series one cases in on Wednesday of this week. Hopefully I'll have series one in hand sometime in the next week and a half or so. :)

I was at Time & Space's web site over the weekend and that is what appears to be happening. They sold 200 Jackson's at Philly, will sell 500 at San Diego, and I would figure that last 300 will go at Chicago.

Before Friday, I had never watched SG. But once I watched it, I instantly became hooked! Now that I found out there is a toy line, I'm even more excited!

Well, this is my question: Are the SG figures available at retail? Becuase you make it sound like they are gonna be released in stores by the way you said that there is a specific date for the figures to come out. So, are they at Comic shops? Retails stores? Online exclusives?

No major retail stores carry them. Check out your local comic shop, or try and pick them up online, it is far less worrisome. ;)

Roton7 - At present the figures are due out here any minute now. I have drooling since New Years Eve when the first line was announced and I placed my order. You have 3 options at present for getting SG-1 toys.

1. If you do some searching at ebay for Jack O'neill (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=jack+o%27neill&category0=) there is a Free Comic Book shop toy that came out in May, and there might be some exclusives left over from the LA Comi-Con.

2. You can search ebay for Daniel Jackson (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&satitle=daniel+jackson&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&bs=Search&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=55429&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=) and try to get the Philly Comi-Con piece.

3. You can go to Time & Space Toys (http://timespacetoys.stores.yahoo.net/) that has all the available series toys shown some pre-orders for Series 1 left.

I think Ryan went to New Force to get his, I went to Big Bad Toy Store to get mine.

As for being hooked on the show, Sci-Fi use to have Monday Nights where they showed the show from 5 PM CST to 10 PM CST, now they have Dark Angel from 6-10. But Sci-Fi still is the best place to try and catch the re-runs. This is one of those shows that it is best to start at Season 1 and work to present to so you can understand everything going on, as the reference the older seasons a lot. Best Buy & other places have the seasons 1-8 (season 9 being the only one not on DVD yet) out for purchase. I own them all and on occation will watch them if I am a little confussed about some of the stuff they reference.

I was checking Diamond Select's shipping list and Black Ops Jack shipped this week, so by this time next week I will have all of the basic's for Series 1 and just waiting on the Unpainted Figures & Variants.

I am probably going to have to buy an extra Serpent Guard & General Jack O'Neill so I can build 2 full gates. I will put one with my figures, and put the other one in a different room. Just so they have a different gate to go through on the other side of my house...(damn I am a geek!)

If they do Atlantis figures I hope they do a Build A Gate for those figures since they have a different gate. I would really like to see an Iris made for the gate. That would be a cool accesory to have.

I have been reading over at Gateworld that there are suppose to be 4 different variants. Any way to confirm what exactly are the variants coming out, and when they should start hitting?

I have seen the following mentioned...

Green Camo Daniel Jackson
Green Camo Jack O'Neill
Desert Daniel Jackson
Desert Jack O'Neill

I still have yet to see dates for these myself. I think most of Wave 1 just reships as variants. Hopefully we will hear something more concrete from DST or the vendors soon.

My order still has yet to be filled, which has me a little worried... :-\

Edit:

BTW as for the rumored variants I think those four are coming out for sure, I thought I had also heard rumors of General O'Neill in his blue fatigues, but I can't confirm that.

Note that they suck, but you can get a good look at the Vala, Prior, and 2 figures previously never mentioned

Ascended Daniel & Anubis!!!

Man I can't wait for these. I guess Anubis and Daniel must be the chase figures in Wave 3. Three figures had seemed like a small wave based on how many we got in 1 and will get in 2. The sculpts on those sure look great too.

We have received about 1/2 of our ordered stock. Unfortunately, the factory in HK has "messed" up our order, and we are not receiving the entire balance at this time. We are going to go through and try to fill single set preorders and then at least 1 of the 2 multi preorders first (you will still get the free promo figure), and when balance arrives, will continue. We will keep updating status here, but as of today, we cannot fill all preorders due to factory error, and a final resolution to the situation has not been reached.

That is the first and probably the last time I attempt ordering from NewForce.

On the bright side BrentS was able to pick me up a WW Chicago Exclusive Daniel Jackson this last weekend. :)

BBTS still has all the figures except for General O'Neill that you can buy on their site. You can get your order filled there.

Ryan - Did you get enough figures to send away for the Elite Serpent Guard? Have you heard if they are arriving yet?

I sent my UPC codes 2 weeks ago, and I figured that since they were not asking for money, and all they needed was 4 different UPC codes that these should ship quicker than say Stormtrooper Lucas!!!
Title: Re: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures

I checked the tracking and it is indeed en route, which is a big weight off my shoulders.

I ordered half a case. It comes with 1 Black Ops O'Neill, 1 General O'Neill, 1 Colonel O'Neill, 1 Daniel Jackson, and 1 Jaffa Serpant Guard. So once they arrive I'll have enough to get the Red Serpant Guard.

My figures finally arrived down at my parents house today, now I've just got to wait until they are shipped up here to Fort Collins.

And on the Stargate front I've got some really, really bad news:

Stargate SG-1 cancelled, Atlantis renewed (http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/08/istargate_sg-1i_cancelled_iatlan.shtml)

SCI FI Channel confirms SG-1 cancellation (http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/08/sci_fi_channel_confirms_isg-1i_c.shtml)

Cooper: SG-1 will go on (http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/08/cooper_isg-1i_will_go_on.shtml)

I guess there is a bit of silver lining in there, as Atlantis will continue, and SG-1 will probably continue to some degree. But I can't say that lightens the load much. I'm actually quite suprised this had to happen, and I choose to blame Sci-Fi for it.

I was a little depressed as once I got all my figures opened that they only made one Daniel Jackson but 30 different Jack O'Neills. So I went out purchased a Col. O'Neill and another Daniel Jackson and swapped heads.

Damn it. I think I missed out on my chance to order Series 2 from New Force. I wasnt going to order from them again but when my figures finally arrived they came with an unpainted Jaffa that didn't originally come with it so I decide they really weren't that bad. And not to mention they are a lot cheaper than anywhere else. I waited for awhile because A) My credit card expired this month and I didn't want to have probelms if they charged the order to the old card; and B) I wasn't sure if I was going to use NewForce again. And now they are sold out. BBTS has the set availible still but it is $10 higher and doesn't include the Jaffa Armor Teal'c. :-\
Title: Re: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures
Post by: knashdx on August 31, 2006, 07:12 AM
I preordered mine as soon as BBTS put them out.

For future reference so not to have this problem again. You probably can place the order, and if your card expires call them or there should be away to change the Credit Card being billed. I know I have done that with BBTS & EE on PreOrders.

The unpainted figures are good, but I have enough stuff going on that I am passing on that set.
Title: Re: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures
Post by: Ryan on September 9, 2006, 11:51 PM
Nice. New Force relisted Series 2 so I was able to pick up the set of 4 plus the exclusive Jaffa Teal'c for $50. Hopefully Series 2 isn't too far off, I'd like to have a complete SG-1 team sooner rather than later. :)

I still haven't heard anything about the variants, does anyone know what the deal with them is?

The also are doing sales of the following individual figures.

Note no Daniel Jackson in Black Ops single orders.
=============================================

The thing I think is ironic in all of this is that they are coming out with a 3rd series, have hinted at a bunch of different paint variants, and people around the world are excitied about this but they are cancelling the series. The best part is that the 3rd series of toys is slatted to hit just before we get the last 10 episodes of SG-1.

Sorry I am still a little bitter about this whole thing.

Oh I'm still more than aliitle bitter. Escpecially after watching the SG-1 Comic Con panel on Sci-Fi Pulse last night, and hearing some Sci-Fi Exec. tell the fans that SG-1 would go on as long as we want it to, and that it was up to us. 1 month later and they cancel the series. >:(

So I finally got my Red Jaffa yesterday, is he not supposed to come with the serpant helmet? If that's the case I'm quite disappointed. I agree the skull capp and the the boots are a bit too vibrant. They seem to have gottne the red on the torso armor pretty close but it is too brite elsewhere. I really hope Series Two starts shipping soon...

Well BBTS indicates on their website that Sereies 2 ships in October. Well since we are over 1/2 thru the month and I haven't received any type of e-mails informing me that the series has come in or not I would suspect that it has been delayed. I did e-mail Diamond Select Customer Service last week and as of yet have yet to receive a response.

I am interested in picking up a Star Trek "Q" figure when it comes out next year. I am interested in finding a comprable body piece and then I can make a Colonel Frank Simmons piece as well.

I've heard late November for Series 2. I'd really like them sooner though.

As much as I hate Trek, I may have to pick up that Q figure for a custom as well. Somehow I doubt we will get Simmons, at least any time in the foreseable future.

I heard that Series 2 will ship the week of Thanksgiving. That means sometime the following week we can expect to see the stuff arrive.

I just cancelled my order on BBTS for them and ordered from AFX. AFX was/is selling a case that will contain 2 of each piece (including the 1 to a case Black Ops Teal'c & the DIAMOND exlcusive Serpent Guard Teal'c) with S&H for what my order was at BBTS without S&H. I am saving around $20-$30 with the switch. I hope this doesn't come back to bite me in the ass.
Title: Re: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures
Post by: Ryan on November 9, 2006, 04:57 PM
Just a warning that apparently a case means something different to AFX. I think they unpack the case they get from DST, and repack (poorly, I might add) the figures themselves. How mcuh are you paying for a case at AFX?

I went through NewForce again, since they did finally come through for me, and I ordered the half case, which includes one of each figure, including both the exclusive Teal'c figures.

Diamond Select (http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/article.asp?ai=35367) has an article that indicates that they are making Stargate Atlantis Toys FINALLY.

Here is the Story...

Stargate Atlantis Action Figures!

With the second series of Stargate SG-1 action figures shipping to stores, we’re pleased to officially announce the debut series of Stargate Atlantis action figures featuring Lt. Col. John Sheppard, Dr. Elizabeth Weir and a Wraith!  Just as with past releases, there will be bonus accessories - each figure in the first two assortments will include a piece of the Atlantis gate!

A somewhat reluctant addition to the Atlantis expedition, Lieutenant Colonel John Sheppard has proven himself to be a resourceful and fiercely loyal member of their team.  His quick thinking and unconventional tactics are combined with uncanny instincts and an out-of-this-world sense of humor to create a leader prepared for any situation.  Not to be underestimated, Dr. Elizabeth Weir was selected to command the Atlantis team after her negotiation skills impressed the military brass.  Dedicated both to her mission and her crew, she has become a force to be reckoned with in the battle against the Wraith – a race of parasitic creatures who have preyed upon the Pegasus galaxy for millennia.  Despite the Wraith’s numerous attempts to destroy them, the Atlantis team has proven themselves as stubborn as the Ancients.

You can expect the same articulation featured in the upcoming figures, with incredible attention to detail thanks to the artists at Jean St Jean Studios.  The core assortment is scheduled to contain Lt. Colonel John Sheppard, Dr. Elizabeth Weir, a Wraith and the limited Field Ops Dr. Weir in addition to the Diamond Previews exclusive Field Ops Sheppard.  Images and final details will be revealed during the upcoming American International Toy Fair!

SG1 Series 2 update
December 7, 2006 | 10:12 AM | newforce1

Word from DST, is product is in transit to the US from HK, and has a ETA window of 12/13 to 1/7. This ETA is subject to change.

 >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:( ??? >:(
I am getting so tired of the delay in these sets. I have saved a couple of UPC codes from some of the Stargate figures that I am customizing and if I don't get series 2 by 12/31 I can forget sending the UPC codes in for another Elite Serpent Guard.

With this figure set getting nearly a 2 month delay we now can expect Series 3 to be close to 3 months late, and push Atlantis and REPLI-Carter's ETA back too.

I only ask Mother Nature not to drop a ton of snow in the next 3 weeks so that that all the toys that collectores are looking for and will be purchased this holiday season are delivered. So collectors don't want to do their best impression of Michael Douglas in Fallsing Down...

The Daniel looks pretty good. Something about the Anubis is just... well, off. I think he is too skinny. His robes always appeared to have more bulk. The more I look at it, I think it is a cobination of the hood being a bit too big and the robes too small. I'll still be picking this set up for sure though.

It appears that they are actually going to make the Desert Combat Carter...she was a display piece at one of the earlier conventions in 2006 (as was a Teal'c, O'Neil, & Jackson piece). So it looks like they finally are starting to make pieces fans want.

SG update
January 10, 2007 | 9:01 PM | newforce1

Our truck of SG1 series 2 should arrive Thursday. We hope to have all preorders shipped by Monday (15th). We have added wave 3 (both sets and cases with free pre production figure), Replicator Carter and the "ASCENSION" DANIEL & ANUBIS ACTION FIGURE 2-PACK presales to the SG Catalog.

This is from New Force the other day. They charged my card and I got a tracking number so it should be here soon. I know I said I wasn't going back but they came through in the end for Series 1. I also went ahead and pre-ordered Series 3, as well as RepliCarter, and the Daniel/Anubis 2-Pack.

If you look at the paperwork that come with series 2 it is for the mail-a-way Elite Serpent guard. The problem is that the expiration date is 12/31/2006.

So I e-mailed them asking what was going on with the promotion since one aspect says while supplies last, but the other says it expires on 12/31/2006. Especially since Series 2 didn't come out until after the promotion ended.

I was informed that it has been extended to the While Supplies Last due to the shipping delays. I am excited since I have another 4 UPC's to mail in.

So I finally got time to crack open my case and get everything set! Damn that took too long. Thankfully there is 3 months before I have to do that again.

I have the following spare Stargate pieces if anyone is interested...

1 - Jackson
3 - O'Neill
5 - Teal'c

No cost...just want to get rid of them.

Finally got everything opened and on display...

Whole set of everything.

This shows the 2 customs of Teal'c that I made. All I did was swap the heads from the Black Ops with the regular version.

This shows the regular version of the the Elite Serpent Guard and the the custom Teal'c. I removed the head from the regular version and put a head from Teal'c Serpent guard on it. I then used an extra Serpent Guard helmet and put that on the headless Teal'c to make another serpent guard.

I found this while reading Gateworld (http://www.gateworld.net).

They have a link to a web site that shows 75 pictures of the Stargate Atlantis Series 1 and Stargate SG-1 Series 3 figures.

Here is the Link (http://74.52.193.82/events/main.php?g2_itemId=1093)

Also Gateworld is reporting that there was a problem with the pieces of the gate sent with Samantha Carter. That story can be found here (http://www.gateworld.net/news/2007/02/new_istargatei_merchandise_in_20.shtml).

Snippit of the story about the Carter Piece...
Apparently, there has been some problem with the Stargate and ramp pieces previously released.
Diamond Select's Web site has info on a replacement offer for those who received the wrong piece
of the gate with the Series 2 Samantha Carter figure.

I went to DS's web site and found nothing about it. What I discovered with the Carter pieces is that the pegs to support the Stargate on the stand are too big for the holes. I just took a drill and made the holes a little bit bigger and it worked just fine for me. I believe I used an 1/8th size drill bit and I just twisted it by hand a couple times.

I had the same problem. I pressed really hard and then they fit in. :)

The new Atlantis figures look pretty snazzy. I think they got a pretty good likeness of Weir and Sheppard. I think I may need to start buying full cases of the figures from New Force, as opposed to the half cases. I really would like extras for customizing.

The new Atlantis figures look pretty snazzy. I think they got a pretty good likeness of Weir and Sheppard. I think I may need to start buying full cases of the figures from New Force, as opposed to the half cases. I really would like extras for customizing.

The first gate I put together I snapped one of the pegs off in the gate with a piece of the support. I realized the problem and thats when I got the drill stuff out. It sucks, but is rather eay to fix yourself.

They made 3 Teal'c figures. When I am done with my customs I will have 11 Teal'c figures.

Want some of my extra parts?

Any word on when Series 3 is due out? BBTS shows March and that ends next week. EE is showing April, and I suspect that May not be that far out of the relm of possibility here soon.

Diamond Select (http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/article.asp?ai=39800) posted a story about a Mail-A-Way figure for the Stargate Atlantis Wave of fgures.

Story...

Free Stargate Atlantis Figures From DST!

With our third assortment of Stargate SG-1 figures shipping soon and the debut wave of Stargate Atlantis figures currently in development, DST is ready to announce the first promotion involving the next successful Stargate series.  Available as a limited promotional figure, the fan-favorite “Steve the Wraith” action figure will be distributed this fall as a free action figure from DST!

As with the previously released Elite Serpent Guard offer, Steve the Wraith will be available to customers who complete a mail-in form located inside the Stargate Atlantis wave’s packaging and send four proofs of purchase to DST.  This exclusive repainted Wraith will be limited, making this a must-have action figure for any Stargate fan.

In addition to this special offer, the first two waves of Stargate Atlantis action figures will also include pieces of the Atlantis gate itself which can be assembled into a figure-sized Stargate perfect for any display.  Details concerning these offers will be revealed as the assortment’s fall release date approaches.

It also appears that the SG-1 Wave 3 figures are being pushed back a week to 4/18/2007 according to DST. Repli-Carter is set for 4/4/07 release and Daniel Jackson/Anubis 2-pack is being pushed back 2 weeks to 5/29/2007.

Nice. I'm glad they aren't getting bumped to May. I was concerned for awhile there that they would be released while I was at C4 and I'd get hit with a $50 bill I wasn't aware of.

I hope I can still mail away for the Carter gate pieces, I just realized I never did that. But I did get another Red Guard in the mail the other day. :)

Got my Pile of Loot notice from BBTS this morning. They have the Vala's in, but not the other 4 yet. I figure I will get the notification either later today or Monday. Either way the figures will sit till I the Repli-Carter comes in and maybe the Anubis pack. That way I get more bang for my shipping buck.

I have a question on the Gate that comes with the figures in Waves 1 and 2.  Is it the same gate in both sets or are they different?  Meaning, could I pick up the appropriate series 1 and 2 figs and make a gate or do I need all figs from series 1 for it to work?

The other question I had is on the size...from looking at the figures it seems like the gate might work well with 3.75" figures and was wondering if that was the case?

I saw them at the DST booth at WW Philly last year but looked at the figures more than the gate and don't really recall all the details.  And the photos here and on some other sites I looked at didn't really answer those questions for me (unless I missed it).  I'm not really interested in the figures that much but would like the gate if it's something that could be used with GI Joe and SW sized figures for display purposes.

Each character came with a different gate piece, ie you wouldn't need every Jack O'Neill. All three O'Neill figures have the same gate piece. You'd need at least one of each of Jack, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c though. And the Aliens Thor and the Serpant guard each come with half the ramp. The gate is clost to scale for 3 3/4" figures but it is actually 2" too small in diameter (I think it was 2" anyways. I measured it a while ago, I remember it being too small for sure though.

Thanks for the info Ryan.  Sounds like it's a decent scale for 3.75" figures then.  Are the parts of the series 1 and series 2 gates interchangeable?  If I pick up some figures I might try to at least get ones that I like as long as they each have a unique piece of the gate.

The parts from series 1 and 2 form one gate. Jack and Daniel were Series 1, Teal'c and Sam were Series 2. So if you were to just pick up Series 2 figures there'd be no way to build a complete gate. There were three different O'Neill figures in series 1 and three different Teal'c figs in series 2, so you could potentially pass on two of each of those, as long as you have one of each  Teal'c, Sam, Daniel, and Jack.

The gate is fairly close to scale with 3 3/4" figures, I guess it really isn't that far off from a lot of the vehicles Hasbro gives us.

If you want an extra gate without buying multiple figures I believe I have everyone but the Samantha Carter piece for the gate. All you would have to do is go over the Diamond Selects website and put in the request for the missing piece. If you want them let me know and I will mail you what I have. I know for sure that I have 2 Jack O'Neil pieces, 5-9 Teal'c pieces and I might have an extra Daniel Jackson.

I started going through all my figures and I feel slighted that the Daniel piece for series 3 comes with the same piece he had in Series 1. I like the crystal skull, but he should have come with a MALP instead of another gate piece. Between the Daniels, Jacks, and Teal'c pieces I have enough pieces for 4-5 gates. I am keeping 2 sending one to EFRANKS, and I have no idea what I will do with the rest.

Much thanks for the gate pieces!  I'll keep a lookout for the new SW figures but I haven't seen anything beyond wave 1 here yet.

You could always put gates around your house and then randomly populate them with SG teams, see if anyone notices.

I was just looking around because I need to purchase another Series 1 Daniel Jackson for some customizing that I want to do. Time & Space Toys (http://timespacetoys.stores.yahoo.net/prstsg1se4de.html) & Diamond Select are both reporting what Series 4 is...

Desert garb of the original team and the bonus exclusive figure is Jonus Quinn!!! HELL YEAH I will be buying 3 sets of this team as well. Plus they come with the MALP and Ring Transporter!

Here is a picture
(http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/timespacetoys_1948_19279392)

ABOUT FRAKING TIME!!!

Customs to make from this line

O'Neill without Hat
Jackson without Du-rag
Teal'c with hair
Carter in Black Tank Top (combine 2 figures)
Jonus in Desert Gear
Jonus in Black T-Shirt
Mitchell in Desert Gear
Vala in Desert Gear

Another expensive line to get involved with...

I guess that answers my MALP question. :)

This is a pretty sweet wave. I can't wait for Jonas. Any idea what he is wearing? I'd hope it is the green pants, black-T, and vest that he is wearing in the inset picture there. I saw it said newly resculpted accessories... I really hope that includes new P-90s and staff weapons, the current ones suck. I wouldn't mind seeing this wave get the MP5s that were standard issue up until season 5. And Daniel had better come with a vest. I'm getting sick of all the Daniel figures not including them.

I really wish I could afford to buys extras for customizing I have at lest 50 I'd like to do. Oh well, maybe later.

Stopped at my local comic book shop today since it is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY and they had a series 1 Daniel Jackson for $4 because it was 2/3 open on the seal. I baught it for another custom piece.

I was also luckily able to put in an order at NewForce for SG-1 Series 4. Somhow I missed them when they were frist put up for presale. I'm really looking forward to completing SG-1. I sent an e-mail to Rick at NewForce and he was saying that he expects Atlantis series 1 in sometime towards the end of November or the begining of December. And it other Atlantis news, Series 2 has been annouced. It will contain Dr. Rodney McKay, Field Ops Teyla, a Wraith Queen, limited Field Ops McKay, and the Previews Exclusive Athosian Teyla. The likenesses of the prototypes look great. I think I would rather they included a Wraith warrior in place of the queen, but overall it is a good selection. I look forward to picking this next series up.  :)

Weekend after X-mas 2007 we are finally gettin Atlantis Series 1. A set of figures that should have been released 6+ months ago. At the rate that they keep pushing the release date for all the Stargate Figures around it will be August 2008 for SG1 Wave 4 and Valentines Day 2009 for Atlantis Wave 2.

My card was charged for the Atlantis figures and they should be waiting for me when I get home from vacation. New Force still has put wave 2 up for preorder, I really hope they plan on doing that at some point. I'd hate to have to find a new source for figures. So Ryan (knashdx) do you have any idea when SG-1 Series 4 is supposed to be out then? DST also was supposed to have the first wave of BSG figures out at the end of October, I still haven't heard anything about them. DST needs to get their act together, I want me some new toys. :P

DST has pushed back the release of SG-1 Wave 4 to March, but it will probably be closer to July as that is when the SG-1 movies that are going straight to DVD are released. As for BSG; I have no idea. Not collecting those as I never really got into the show.

If anyone has extra Daniel Jackson Case Toppers from the Atlantis Wave 1 sets please let me know. I am looking to make a couple different custom figures and I need him for it.

Newest issue of ToyFare has the SG-1 Wave 4 Desert Gear figures on the inside cover and it appears that those figures are due to be released in 2 months. That wave is cool because we get MALP and Ring transport. I am getting 3 sets for making a bunch of customs.

3 - Jack Custom (head from Free Comic book Day, painted hat from Col. O'Neill Wave 1, & body swap with Daniel)
2 - Carter (painted hat from Wave 2 Carter, & Vala head Swap)
2 - Daniel (Head from Wave 1 Daniel & Body Swap with Jack)
2 - Teal'c (Head swap with Black Op's, & add the goofy gold goatee)

Finally a picture of what Jonus will look like...
Jonus - 5 of these (1 regular, one head swap with FCBD O'Neill, 1 head swap with Black Ops Jack or Daniel, 1 head swap onto the Blue Outfit Daniel Jackson Case Topper, and a head swap with either a Jack or Daniel in Desert Gear)

It's nice to finally see an image of Jonas. The likeness is decent I guess. The forehead looks a little big but I could be worse I suppose.

I really wish I had the money and the space to pick up as many sets as you knashdx. I'd love to do some customs with these as well. Maybe I'll get around to it some day.

I've been trying to track down one of the Blue Daniel case toppers and have had no luck so far. Nothing has gone any cheaper than $30 on the bay, not that I have seen anyways. I really want one, but I can't stomach it for more than $30 not including shipping. I might cave eventually but for now I think $30 is going to be my ceiling.

NewForce finally put Atlantis Series 2 up for pre-order. I went ahead and order my usual one of each. Does anyone know if there are any special Atlantis case toppers, or other SG-1 toppers besides Daniel for that matter? I know of the unpainted figures and it was nice not to have to worry about tracking those down anywhere. If they are going to start including repaints or other "new" figures though I may be trouble.

Looking at the upcoming 12" figures, I'm glad these will be an easy pass for me. The likenesses on both of them are piss poor. And the clothing is incredibly boring. A 12" figure with 24 points of articulation (compared to Sideshow's 40), terrible sculpts, and clothing fit for a dollar store GI Joe for $40? No thank you. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for those. Thankfully that is at least $80 saved.

Since I have downgraded my Star Wars collecting to opener status for classic trilogy Stargate has become my main point of focus. Part of me has considered going down that route, but I can't bring myself to do it. I should know in the next week if I need the Daniel or not. Just depends on how much of Season 6 of SG-1 I get watched. I am trying to only make figures of charecters that actually appear in the show. (ANAL RETENTIVE - I know!!!)

My saving grace on this collection is that I only have openers...nothing in package. Did you pick up the Exclusive T-Shirt Daniel Jackson?

Yeah BrentS was kind enough to pick one up for me when he was at WW Chicago. So I lucked out big time on that one and didn't have to resort to scalper prices on ebay. The arms on mine do like to fall off all the time though so that is rather annoying.

DST really needs to start including a vest with every SG team member figure. I was looking over my collectionand it really started to bug me, more-so than it did when opening them even. Neither my Black-Ops Teal'c or Daniel have vests because I had to loan them to other figures. The new Desert Carter had better be coming with a vest. She wasn't pictured with one, and it will be much harder to find extra vests for her than for any of the guys.

EDIT: No worries on the Daniel BTW. Take as long as you need. I'm pretty sure Jonas, Daniel, and Jack all wear the long sleeve blue base uniform at some point, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

NewForce put up some series 1 Atlantis openers, a set of all 5, for only $40. That's about the price of 5 Basic Star Wars figures these days.

Double check the auctions I saw a bunch of Daniels going for right around $30 with anywhere from 5-10 in shipping.

I just picked up my 5th (yes 5th) FCBD Jack O'Neill to make a custom out of. I am just about done with my custom Anubis, and I have 2 more Teal'c's to finish and then I can start on my Atlantis customs. I will attempt to get some pictures of my customs post in the next week or so. Depends on time, and how long it takes me to get my basement back in order so I can watch the Super Bowl on my Projector.

I got one from NewFroce's Ebay store for $30. I think it would have been cheaper for me to buy a full case from NewForce and sell off the extras. :-X

I walked in the door this evening and my wife had a present for me. My 2 Wraith "STEVE" figures came in the mail. I seriously mailed my UPC codes off less than 2 weeks ago and I have them already. This figure is shipping fast than the Elite Serpent Guard figure did.

They got smart on this figure. On the Elite Serpent Guard the UPC code was such that it said that it was a Stargate toy. This one does not. So I don't know if you can use this UPC code as 1 of the 4 necessary to get another Steve figure.

Did you use any SG-1 POPs when you mailed away for Steve? I have enough Atlantis figures to get one, but I was hoping to mail away a second set using my old Series 3 SG-1 POPs to get a second.

congrats on getting one finally. ;D

Two.  :-X I hate it when I do that. I bid on two auctions thinking I'd get outbid on the other... That's the second damn time I've done that. That's how I wound up with two FCBD O'Neills.  ::)

I actually e-mailed Diamond Select about the Elite Guard, and they informed me that 1. It was sold out, and that 2. the SG-1 UPC's could NOT be used to get Steve.

My first Daniel just arrived. Nothing too spiffy I suppose, not worth $30, but i couldn't have that damn whole in my collection. I'm glad they included all the accessories they did. Most are really more Atlantis specific, but it is nice to get a few extras, including another new P-90. I wish they would have given him the SG-1 arm patch as opposed to the generic SGC though. I was a bit bummed out about that.

I'm kind of thinking I may want to add a beard onto my other one, like he had in the early Season 9 episodes.

I know he isn't worth $30, but what are you going to do? I am up to 5 of them so I can make a Mitchel, Shepard, O'Neill & Jonas in that outfit. Luckily I have only had to shell out $90 for all of mine.

That sucks because I am sitting on nearly 20 UPC codes from all 3 waves from toys that I have been hacking up for customs. I will sit on them in the hopes that they come up with a Mail-In option in the future, but I am not holding my breath.

That's pretty disapointing. I was really hoping there would be one as I still have all my Series 3 UPCs. So many of these figures already share parts it's not like they'd really have to make anything new. They could easily do a blue base uniform O'Neill, Teal'c, Jonas, or Mitchel. I guess I'll just have to keep holding onto mine as well.

I think the thing that gets me is that the Mail-In is so sucessful that they could use it as a way to add more figures to the line such as more Serpent Gurards or Wraith figures to help people do some army building, special deco's of already produced figures, or for that matter a way of adding more bad guys (Genii, Goul'd system lords) to the collection.

I finally got pictures of all my completed custom toys that I have been working on. All of them are Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis figures. I still have a few that I am working on.

This first set of toys is a custom of the Daniel Jackson (middle figure) that comes in the Stargate Atlantis Series 1 toys as a chase case topper. Cameron Mitchel & Jonus Quinn still to come.

Left Figure - Head swap with a Col. Sheppard from Atlantis Series 1 toys.
Middle Figure - Actual figure.
Right Figure - Head swap with a FCBD Jack O'Neill figure.

This is a set of Camron Mithcel figures that I did.

Left Figure - Head swap with a Black Ops Daniel Jackson for SG-1 Wave 3.
Middle Figure - Actual figure.
Right Figure - Mitchel head on the FCBD Jack O'Neill body.

These are 2 different Col. Carters that I did.

Left Figure - Actual figure.
Right Figure - Put the head from the Replicator Carter on regular toy.

Three different figures...

Left Figure - Series 1 Daniel Jackson that I added a vest to.
Middle Figure - Series 1 Black Ops Jack O'Neill that I put a Daniel Jackson head on.
Right Figure - John Sheppard head from Atlantis Wave 1 on the FCBD Jack O'Neill Body.

These are the regular Teal'c figures from SG-1 Wave 2 for reference to all the customs made of him.

Simple swap of the head on all 3 figures.

Left Figure - Jaffa Teal'c w/Black Ops Teal'c head.
Middle Figure - Green outfit Teal'c with w/Black Ops Teal'c head.
Right Figure - Black Ops Teal'c w/bald head.

Mail-A-Way Elite guard that I swap heads on.

Left Figure - Head swap with a Black Ops Teal'c.
Right Figure - Head swap with bald Teal'c.

T-Shirt Teal'c Figures. Made by using the Black Ops Teal'c torso on the green outfit legs and one of each of the heads.

These are Teal'c figures base on a look that he had part way through one of the seasons where he had a goofy gold goatee. To make the goatee I took a Triple H figure from the WWE toys and cut his hair off and made small thin strips that I then glued on with some super glue.

Close up of the faces to see the goatees.

Custom Anubis figure. Added cloth face to the figure by gluing it in place. I then took the crystall skull accessory that came with the Black Ops Daniel Jackson and drilled a hole in the back. Glued an LED light into the skull and ran the wire down the back (not in the toy). Attached skull to neck and glued hood in place.

Picture is suppose to have glowing effect of skull being lit, but flash over powered glow effect.

Very nice Ryan. I LOVE that Anubis. I had planned on trying to fix that one up a bit myself. The cloth with the L.E.D. underneath really has a nice effect. The Teal'c figures all look great, nice work on that soul patch. I'm not really sold on Sheppard in the SG-1 digs but all the other other headswaps look great.

I just started on a tiered display for my figures today, hopefully I can finish it in the next few days here. :)

BBTS (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=qmx10009&mode=retail) has a pre-order for a Stargate Mirror.

For it's size it is rather expensive, but I think it will look great in my Movie/TV room in my basement.

Wow. $46.99? So much for getting two... :-X

I think I may have to bite on this one, even at the price. That Stargate looks like it is only one piece, I wonder if it comes with a special gate? I had always planned on trying to replicate this effect for myself at some point. I still have plans to complete the 3 3/4" scale SGC I started a few years ago at some point. Now that they actually make this piece I may end up accepting the fact that this gate is still and an inch to small in diameter, even at 1:18 scale.

Scratch that. I actually read the description a little closer. I didn't realize this was an actual mirror piece not made by DST, and not even designed for the gates they made. That may end up deterring me from buying this one. I guess if I do end up not collecting the new Clone Wars line at all I might be able to justify it...

I hadn't seen it in all it's glory but it is cool. It is a little too short for the toys, but that can be fixed with a little customizing here and there.

If you go to this link Cool Toys (http://www.cooltoyreview.com/story/front/TF2008_Diamond_Select_Toys_Stargate_112429.asp) they show some pictures of toys in process...

Black outfit Sheppard
Dr. Keller ( I think)
Atlantis Carter

The funny thing is that they toys for Atlantis all come with ZPM's if only they were truely that previlant for them fto find.

Diamond Select is showing that Stargate SG-1 Wave 4 is suppose to come out on 3/5. I have talked to New Force who is really good about communicating when stuff is suppose to be coming and they haven't been billed for their toys yet. Which means that this is another wave that is getting moved around. It will probably be a year later than when they expected since it was suppose to be summer of last year for it's first release.

Other pictures of my customs...

Ryan worked on a few pieces for his Stargate collection.  Ryan, you'll have to explain who the characters are.  I'm not that familiar with the show.

The first 2 are of the Anubis. Much better than the pictures I was posting.

The 3rd pic is of Teal'c and how he looked in the world that Daniel Jackson went to when he traveled through the Quantum Mirror (There But The Grace of God (Part 1)). I still need to finish the hair by putting the ponytail holders on.

Trying to make the figure look like this...

And I am just about done with my Teal'c that will look similar to this...

Diamond Select (http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/article.asp?ai=67394) has posted Stargate Atlantis Wave 3 figures....

DST Dials Up Stargate Atlantis Series 3!

The People’s Choice Award-winning Stargate Atlantis is approaching its fourth season finale just as DST is putting the finishing touches on the third assortment of action figures based on the sci-fi gem.  Not only will this series see the inclusion of all-new characters, but it will also include some familiar faces to Stargate SG-1 fans!

Due in stores this fall, the third series will feature Colonel Samantha Carter in her new Atlantis-style uniform, the fan-favorite Dr. Jennifer Keller played by Firefly’s and Serenity’s Jewel Staite and one of the muscle-bound Wraith Drones.  Also included in this assortment will be an all-new action figure of Lt Colonel John Sheppard sporting his all-black base attire – perfect for those top secret “black ops” missions.  Last but certainly not least, the no-nonsense former “runner” Ronon Dex will be released along with this series as a Previews exclusive available in comic book and specialty stores nationwide!

Our first series of Stargate Atlantis action figures was released earlier this year and will be followed by the second series featuring Dr. Rodney McKay, Teyla Emmagen and a Wraith Queen – due in stores on March 26th.  By combining the six different pieces included with these two waves, fans will be able to create their own figure-sized Atlantis-style Stargate – a bonus first used for our Stargate SG-1 action figure releases.

Stay tuned for more updates and images of this developing line as the Stargate Atlantis universe continues to expand!

I will get my ussually case (2 of everything), but I will definately be going to town on the Drones. I will probably get a case of just those guys. It doesn't say who the chase piece will be in the case...but I figure it to be the Shepard base on how they describe his figure.

Diamond Selects shipping site is showing that SG-1 Wave 4 (Desert Gear) & Previews Jonas Quinn are shipping this week. This wave is going to be nearly as expensive as Wave 2 was with all the Teal'c figures I picked up. I can only hope that there isn't an exclusive Case Topper with this wave like the Daniel.

Yup it looks like my order from New Force shipped out today. :)

Ryan, I so am going to steal your idea on Anubis... I've been wanting to do a customized version that was more accurate to the show for quite a while now. I knew I wanted to bulk up the robes and repaint them a bit so they looked more accurate but I wasn't quite sure what i was going to do with the head. Now I know. :)

I'm pretty happy with the Atlantis Series 3 choices. I'll admit I wasn't big on Ronan's character when he first joined the show. He was too much like Teal'c originally was but I felt he was really one dimensional. They have since found his place on the show. The moments he had with Keller when they were locked together were really great. They helped to add some more depth to the character.

I'm going to have try to grab a few of the Wraith drone, you can't just have one afterall. :)

I have extra fabric that I used for it if you would like a chunk of it. I purchased an entire yard of it not knowing how bad I was going to screw it up. Luckily it only took me 2 tries. I was able to use the same fabric for the cloak for Teal'c. Just PM me your address and I will ship you out a 9" section.

I hope my 3 sets ship today. Next week the DVD Ark of Truth comes out. So finally the Ori story line will be finished. If you go to Diamond Select you can purchase additional ring transporter pieces. They are limiting the quantities to 5 per customer @ $4.00 a pop. Somehow I have to get 9 additional rings depending on what all comes with my Carters & Quinns.

1:11 PM CST - Just got notification from UPS that my stuff has shipped. Never mind that I still don't have an invoice e-mail from New Force of what all is in the shipment, but here's hoping that it is all 3 sets.

My first shipment is suppose to be here by Tuesday. I should have my other package by the end of the week.

Now I have to debate if getting a 4 set is worth it. I know I need at lease 2 more Quinns, and I most likely need another Teal'c, but the other 3 I don't need, and wouldn't have a use for them other than to make some custom Atlantis figures with them. I just hate the idea of getting another Teal'c and having the extra pieces of the MALP sitting around. But I could use the O'Neill for Sheppart, and attempt to use Jackson for O'Neill and then I would just need to figure out what to do with Carter... >:(

Damn it looks like Carter and O'Neill don't come with vests... Why does DST do that? They wear them on the show, so the figures should come with them. They could at least make some sort of accessory pack so we can replace all the old P-90s and pecik up some extra vest for my Black Ops figures.

I picked up Ark of Truth, but it's so nice here in the Springs I'm taking the dogs for a walk and working in my yard instead!   ;D

It sure was beauticul out today wasn't it? I'm glad you are finally home. I skimmed by on that paper. That was about as close as I'v ever cut it, it was due at 5 today, meaning I have to leave at 445 I started the paper at 1230 and finished it about 430. :)

No sign of that coin yet I'm afraid. I don't know if it just hasn't come yet or one of my roomates put it some where when they brought the mail in and I never could find it amonst all the crap (a very real possibility).

I just got back from Best Buy with my copy of Ark of Truth, once my pizza comes out of the oven I'll be ready to watch it. :)

FYI, my Target did have the new SG-1 movie today.  The shelf tag read $19.99 with no sale sign but I didn't scan it to see.

On another note, I noticed a couple of you guys ordered or were thinking about ordering a second set of the new SG-1 figures for custominzing.  If anyone ends up with an extra MALP they don't want, LMK.

Got home around 9 PM from our MN Jedi Defender Metting and threw in Ark of Truth. I love it.

Spoiler Alert for those who haven't seen it.

The story was good. They made it feel like a 2 hour episode of the show so it didn't feel out of place. Conflict between Mitchel and IOA was great. Loved the fight between the 2 and the Replicator skeleton was AWESOME!!! Found it hard to believe that Teal'c would have survived without a symbiote, but figured that the hand that healed him was either Ohma De Sala or Morgan Le Fey (female hand gave that one away).

I really expected more of a battle between them and the Ori. They left the option there for more with Area 51 getting the Ark (we all know how secure Area 51 ISN'T!!!), Tomin going back to lead the people of that galaxy, and the team still going through the gate.

Well worth the wait. Can't wait for Continum in the summer.

Diamond Select has the ring parts back instock. I ordered my lowly 5 (All you're allowed to order). Granted if I want to make a ring transporter for all my Carters & Quinns then I need 24 sections. I could always use my wifes card.
Title: Re: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures
Post by: Ryan on March 12, 2008, 05:16 PM
I put an order in for 4 of them myself. I'd guess they'll remove the limit after awhile. I should know this but... how many rings make up a stack?

I was very pleased with AoT as well. It was a fairly nice conclusion to the Ori storyline. I loved the epic feel it gained from all those helicopter location shots. Teal'c's trek through the mountains was awesome. The special features on the disk were pretty good. I kind of would have liked more but the making of feature was very well done as usual and that comic con panel was hilarious. I've always wanted to go to one of those. I still haven't checked out the commentary. Bring on Continuum! :)

Series 4 is actually fairly dull, IMO. Not bad, I just kind of think 'meh' when I look at them. The MALP is a great accessory and is pretty cool to have. I'm going to have to check to see if it is scale or not though. The rings are kind of small, and the scale looks to be a bit off, not by a whole lot though. I only have a stack of two so far but you can fit SG-1 all in there together it looks like. I'm glad to finally have a Jonas. The Naquadria generator is a neat little accessory. Teal'c and Daniel are both nice, primarily because they both have their damn vests, unlike Carter and O'Neill. >:(

I really don't get why they aren't given vests, they have hardly any accessories between the two of them to begin with. Carter has her gun and I think it is the Asgard Time dilation device.  :-[ O'Neill has a P-90, Radio, and GDO. They both look so plain without their vests. And you rarely ever (possibly never) see them walking off world in their desert camo with only a T-Shirt and no vest, especially like O'Neill with his hat backwards and his goggles on. I can at least give O'Neill a vest when my second set comes. I may have to go back and buy another or the series two Carter to get an extra vest for her though...

5 rings for the transporter. So technically with having both Carter and Jonus you would need 8 total to have 2 stacks of rings or just buy 3 more and have 1 stack of rings.

This is by far the weakest set they have had, but Atlantis Wave 1 was light on accessories too. Probably thank oil prices for this since it costs more to make toys it means that they either have to charge more, or limit the accesories to make things more cost effective. Say good bye to the vests too.

Atlantis series one wasn't that bad actually, most were smaller, but the Shepards both came with a pistol and a P-90 which was nice. I thought the lemon was hilarious. Small accessories sure (with the exception of the very cool drone), but they at least all had what they needed.

I'd much rather have my entire SG team with a vest and their proper gun than with accessories like the little ones Daniel comes with, the Naquadria Generator, etc. I'd prefer both of course, but ultimately if they have to choose I really wish they'd go for the vests. Or at least make an accessory pack with a few vests, P-90s, pistols, zats, stunnters, and some other random little stuff.

I'm finally about done with my custom tiered display shelf I made for my Stargate figures. I have to clean up the sides (not pictured) but other than that I'm done with it. Originally I was just going to make a plain old white foamcore display to raise up my figures. Realizing that was boring, I decided to do something in the same vein as Muftak's shelf displays (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=16761.0). I'd be lying if I said I didn't take a lot of inspiration from Bobb's work. I really tried to combine form and function on this display. I wanted this to primarily be a shelf, but have elements of nature mixed in. I built in a removable Stargate on the top shelf there. I wanted to have in partially in the ground like most gates are. In the event I want to use this for Star Wars figures I can just take the Gate off and it becomes a generic display. The DHD, and the lichen bushes are also removable.

The base is made from several layers of pink insulation foam that I sculpted with some hobby knives. It was then plastered and painted, first with a dark grey base coat, then with a black wash, a brown wash, and then finished off with some drybrushing. For the greenery I just used some Woodlands Scenics model railroad supplies.

I had so much fun making this that I really want to make a few more. I've been brainstorming trying to come up with something that would work for my Galactica figures, and then Star Wars as well. I think these kind of displays really work nicely and don't really take up a whole lot of room. Enough of my blathering here it is: (click the thumbnails)

The pictures are kind of crappy and the flashed washed out some of the detail. I should have taken shot shots at an angle to show the depth of the thing... oh well. I'll try to update with those at some point. Let me know what you guys think.  :)

Diamond Select's Shipping site is confirming that the Stargate Atlantis Wave 2 stuff is shipping this week. This is the the fastest follow up that Diamond Select has done for Stargate. We had to wait nearly a year from SG-1 Wave 1 to Wave 2. This one is out in less than 4 months.

No Wave 5 as in the SG-1 line is done? Or they just haven't announced it yet?

I really hope it keeps going... even if it is for just a few more waves. I really want Generals Hammond and Landry, some version of Apophis, Baal, Bray'tac, Doctor Fraiser, Walter, and a Kull Warrior. The possibilties are really endless but I think I would at least feel that they had covered the most important characters. I still can't believe they are coing out with that terrible 12" line.

Not announced yety, but they ussually announced the next wave just as a Wave was coming out. So with Wave 4 hitting, and no Wave 5 I suspect it is either being shelved for now, or they might be trying to do something with Continuium. Either way I hope there is more since there is a ton that they could still do. Especially if they stop using the basic team.

Diamond Select (http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/article.asp?ai=69755) has a story about Wave 3 and that we get the Defense Chair!!! Best part is if you buy a case of toys you get a case topper General Jack O'Neill figure. My only hope is that it isn't like the Daniel, since I purchased a bunch of those and made my own custom of Jack.

Story...

The celebrated third series of action figures based on the Sci-Fi Channel hit series Stargate Atlantis are ready to embark on their most important mission to date – exploring your collection!  Featuring characters from the third and fourth seasons, this assortment offers new faces, new uniforms, new threats and a bonus figure-sized Ancient Control Chair!

The core release will include Dr. Samantha Carter and Dr. Jennifer Keller as they appeared in the show’s fourth season, a hulking and imposing Wraith Drone, the limited Garrison Uniform Sheppard in his on-base black uniform and the Previews Exclusive warrior, Ronon Dex.  Also included in each case will be a special edition case-topper figure featuring a new version of a Stargate legend – General Jack O’Neill in his blue garrison uniform!  This limited figure will be included within each sealed case and will only be available from your local retailer.

As with past Stargate releases, this assortment was sculpted by Jean St. Jean Studios, stands 7 inches tall and features series-accurate costumes.  The Ancient Control Chair will be distributed with Dr. Carter, Dr. Keller, Wraith Drone and Ronon, however each figure in the line will also include several accessories to further accent your Stargate displays.

Since I am cutting down on stuff not sure if I am still going to get a dozen of the Drones, but I still have 4 months to decided. Just waiting for the New Force order to post.

AFX (http://www.shopafx.com/9978813081.html) sent me an e-mail that shows this as a Pre-Order

Looks like a repackaged Teal'c, and the Ori Body with a repainted Daniel Head. The only thing I would like to see is that Teal'c has the grey spot on his head. They are saying that release of the toy is scheduled for November 2008.

UPDATE -

BBTS (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=DMC10955&mode=retail) has their pre-order up for this, and are showing an October release date for this.

Still waiting for New Force to put up their pre-order.

AFX - $25.59
BBTS - $24.99
New Force - $??.??

I will probably go with the New Force order since their shipping rates are better than the other 2.

I was only interested in the head sculpts.  I was thinking if they didn't sell well they might end up on sale from an etailer or on eBay cheap.

I think with SG-1 cancelled and now Atlantis headed in the same direction it might be hard for them to generate any ongoing interest in the line.  It's a shame, though, because SG-1 had 10 years over which it seems like it could have built a line and following with toy collectors yet they only came on towards the end.

If they'd done a 4" line or 12" line (earlier) I'd probably have been involved in it but didn't want to jump in on a new scale, plus cost, I was already spending my collecting money elsewhere.

For the most part the SG-1 Line is dead. I am surprised that they didn't try to get a wave of toys for the movies.

Atlantis Wave 4 was slated for 9/15, and then about 3 weeks ago I saw that it had been moved back to 10/29, and now it is slated for 11/26 according to the info over at Diamond Select. At this rate the line will come out after the series is done.

They are still showing on Pre-Order, but I can't imagine that there has been a lot of demand for these things. This is a wave that I was happy to pass on.

I would love to have more toys from this line, but I am also happy it appears to be done. I was spending too much on figures to make customs of the toys to fill my desire to have as many different figures as possible. Especially with the cancellation it made my desire to get an army of Wraith Drones non existant. That is cash that I can put towards other things.

Well Atlantis was cancelled a few weeks ago. It is going to be headed in the same direction as SG-1, with 1 direct to DVD movie already confirmed to follow up this last season. I think they maybe could have gotten at least one more solid season out of the show, but I wasn't crushed to see it go. I was getting sick of Replicators and a lot of the Michael storylines.

Stargate Universe sounds like it could be a neat new direction for the franchise. I wonder if we will see an accompanying line through DST?

Gateworld (http://www.gateworld.net/news/2008/10/dst_promises_more_stargate_actio.shtml) posted an interesting article on the future of both of DST's Stargate lines today:

Quote
DST promises more Stargate action figures

Monday - October 13, 2008 | by Shaun Farrell

Diamond Select Toys, creators of figurines and action figures for such franchises as Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, Transformers, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Serenity, and many more, recently discussed their plans for the future of the Stargate lines with collectors. Future releases in the SG-1 and Atlantis lines may include Goa'uld System Lord Apophis and Dr. Carson Beckett.

Beckett's absence from the line has apparently caused some controversy among collectors, as Diamond Select Toys released a figure of Dr. Jennifer Keller in the Series 3 lineup of Atlantis. DST said that "its pretty much impossible to make everyone happy" when selecting which characters to base figures on.

The third series is currently slated for a December 10 release, and will also feature Colonel Samantha Carter, Wraith warrior, and the limited Garrison Uniform John Sheppard. A Ronon Dex figure will also be available as a Diamond Previews catalog exclusive. Each figure will include accessories and a piece of the Ancient control chair from the show, for collectors to assemble.

A new SG-1 two-pack is also listed for release on November 26, featuring the Ori Prior Daniel Jackson from "The Shroud," and the aged, post-"Unending" Teal'c.

DST also said that it plans to continue producing Stargate figures as long as the lines are profitable. While the recent cancellation of Stargate Atlantis may hurt sales, they plan to move forward, as "SG-1 has always done a little better than Atlantis. I can't say [the cancellation of Atlantis] won't affect the toy line -- it has to -- there will be less new content to do figures from so it has to change our plans, but we're not going to just stop doing figures. As long as the sales are there, we'll keep going with both shows."

The toy company also said they would be open to creating toys based on Stargate Universe, the third television series, set to premiere next summer. But they would wait to see Universe before exploring the possibilities.

To learn more about future Stargate action figures, read the Art Asylum Blog, and visit Diamond Select Toys for the complete Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis lines.

It is good to see that the interest is still there on DST's part but I still have a feeling the lines are about done. Outside the Beckett and Apophis rumors there doesn't seem to be a whole lot on the horizon. And it looks like Atlantis Series 3 has been pushed back, AGAIN. At the rate DST releases figures I kind of doubt we will see many more waves. One maybe two waves a year isn't going to cut it with both shows cancelled. As long as we get a General Hammond, Apophis, Anubis' Super Soldier, Dr Fraizer, and Bray'tac before the SG-1 line ends I'll be happy.
Title: Re: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures

If nothing else they should just make a Stargate series of toys and not decern if it is SG-1 or Atlantis and combine the 2 together. Make a wave of 5 figures; 3-4 SG-1 figures and the other 1-2 be Atlantis stuff.
Title: Re: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures
Post by: knashdx on November 3, 2008, 02:24 PM
well it is 11/2 and DST still shows that the Daniel Jackson/Teal'c 2-pack is still set for a 11/26/08 release. The Atlantis Wave 3 is still set for 12/10/08.

I look back at the 10/13 release from DST and laugh, because we still have no idea what upcoming figures are beyond this year. You would think by now they would have a clue. SG-1 Wave 4 came out in March, and granted we have had 2 releases of Atlantis this year, with a 3rd slated to come out in the next 58 days of 2008, but they should have some idea of what they have fourth coming. This series is sitting on the bubble of stuff I am cutting out next year, especially with the TV series coming to an end.

done on my soapbox....

Well it is 11/18 and based on my post from 2 weeks ago the Teal'c/Daniel figures are due next Wednesday. Jokes on me. DST now shows a release date of 12/10/08, and the Atlantis wave isn't due out till 1/21/09 (3 weeks after the final TV episode airs). This is becoming such a joke.
Title: Re: Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis figures

Well I guess this wasn't totally unexpected. I'm going to go out on a limb and say this will be the last Series in the line for sure.

We saw one series of SG-1 figures this year and it only had two new headsculpts and one newish body. So even for DST this was really just a repaint wave and it shouldn't have been the only SG-1 wave of the year. And it's not like we were seening more Atalntis waves to compensate. If this next wave does gets delayed another month it will have been a whole year between series 2 and 3. ::)

I don't mind these being spaced out, what I do hate is the constant delays. It makes it way too hard to budget these since they keep getting pushed back. We never really know when they are going to come out.

Looks like the DST announcement of the partnership with TRU is for Stargate figures too. I was doing some toy hunting and came accross pre-orders for the following.

Or for that matter a second blaster since he has been seen with 2. Sword should be easy to replace from other toy lines like NECA's POTC, or from Buffy, etc...

Wow. Did we really expect much else though? DST really needs to learn how to set release dates. If everything is constantly getting pushed back then they need to realize that they aren't giving themselves enough time, and just set release dates for further out.

Those carded images look pretty nice. The anciet chair is going to make a great little accessory. If these ever do ship, I ordered a full case from New Force (so I could get two Wraith Drones and the O'Neill topper) so I'll have an extra Carter and Keller (and possibly an extra Ronan) if anyone is interested in them.

Let me say May-be on getting them. I want to get a bunch of Wraith Drone to go with all my Serpent Guards and Wraith figures. I am still working on a way to convert Tayla into a Wraith Queen for a custom.

Art Asylum in their new Q&A (http://www.artasylum.com/blog/2009/01/ask-dst-qa-22/#more-499) (#22) have finally confirmed a couple things...

1. The SG-1 Wave 5 will be shown at NYC Toy Fair in a couple weeks.

And the biggest news....

2. THEY ARE MAKING BA'AL!!!!

SWEET!!!!

That's great news indeed. I can't wait for Ba'al. I really hope they include General Hammond in this wave. It would be a nice little tribute to Don S. Davis.

Diamond Select (http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/article.asp?ai=79980) has finally posted the new SG-1 Line.

Toy Fair Preview: Stargate SG-1

The Stargate action figure line has already delivered six assortments (that's over 44 individual figures!) but Diamond Select Toys isn't finished with the intrepid cast of Stargate SG-1 just yet! Previewed here for the first time are some of the stars of the next release - Stargate SG-1 Series 5!

Air Force Jack O'Neill: Featuring O'Neill in his highly decorated US Air Force uniform, a highly requested fan-favorite depiction.

Black Ops Samantha Carter: Joining her previously released "Black Ops" SG-1 teammates, this figure is based on the season 2 premiere "The Serpent's Lair."

Horus Guard: The nefarious cousin to the traditional Serpent Guard, these misguided Jaffa served the family of Ra, including Ra himself and his son Heru'ur.

General George Hammond: At last joining his team in action figure form, the late three-star Lieutenant General is depicted in his US Air Force uniform.

Ba'al: Based on the Season 10 episode "The Quest," the scheming and conniving Ba'al is a former System Lord and the last of the Goa'uld.

As with past releases, each figure in this assortment will be accompanied by pieces of a key Stargate accessory - this time in the form of Stargate Command's armored and weaponized reconnaisance drone, the U.A.V. As a special bonus, a limited case topper figure will also be available from your local comic store in the form of Black Ops Cameron Mitchell.

Stay tune for more Toy Fair news and updates as this year's American International Toy Fair begins in earnest this Sunday, February 15th!

I am going to need at least 3 of the Carters for making customs, 2 of Col. Hammond, 3 Jack O'Neils for making a Mitchel & Sheppard, and 4 Horus Guards. I just might end up getting 2 cases of this figure so I get 2 case toppers of the Black-Ops Mitchel.

Diamond Select shows that Atlantis Wave 3 is due out on the 18th, but New Force (who I ordered through) and the Previews Site (http://www.previewsworld.com/public/default.asp?t=2&m=1&c=6&s=428) are showing that the figures are shipping this week and will be in stores TODAY!!! This means orders should be shipping by the end of the week for those of us that have Pre-Orders in.

I'm tempted to pick up a Hammond, just because.  Sounds like a decent wave of figures.

Horus Guard - Finally a Jaffa figure that looks good. The paint on it is just awsome. I am going to pick a couple extra up of these to swap bodys with the Serpent Guards and make a few Teal'c figures with this body as well.

NOTE -  BBTS (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=DMC11107&mode=retail) has a pre-order up, but it is the wrong pre-order. They are showing the Case Topper Cameron Mithcell as 1 of the 5 figures from the wave. There is no mention or picture of the Horus Guard.

Here is a picture of the UAV from ToyFair 2009 -

I think it would be cooler if it came with the launch base, or even a clear stand for it to rest on so it looked like it was flying.

Got notification from New Force finally that they are shipping my Wave 3 Atlantis. I can't wait to get this set. I have heard a lot of good things, and I going to start customizing figures in the next couple weeks.

I might take you up on that. The one that I am looking to get for sure is the Sheppard, but since he is one to a case I will have to be patient.

My case arrived yesterday. All in all it is a pretty good wave. The Drone is probably my favorite. I still think Ronan's arms look really goofy. His arms are too short and really bulky at the top with skinny little forearms. I really wish he came with both of his pistols. Carter's hair is to brunette and her lips are kinda funky but the likeness isn't bad. Keller and Sheppard look great and that Chair is a really neat accessory.

I think they could finish up my wish list for Atlantis in only one more wave:

Dr. Beckett
Dr. Zelenka
Lt. Ford
Major Lorne
Woolsey

I'm not saying there aren't other figures I'd like from Atlantis ,but I'd be happy if that was the last wave we get.

I agree with your assesment of the Wave. I am attempting to make a trenchcoat for Ronan to hid that imperfection in the arms. My wife has a celebri-crush on Jason Mamoa so I am going to give her one of my spare Ronans to make her happy. I agree with the list of people for Atlantis that would finish the wave nicely, but I would add the following.

Cowan (Genii)
Kolya (Genii)
Oberoth (Asuran)
Ladon Radim (Genii)
Sora (Genii)
Michael (Wraith)
Todd (Wraith)
Larrin (Travelers) - Hot chick that kidnapped Sheppard
Jeannie Miller

Not a bad list. It was hard for me to limit it to just five. I'd be happy with most of those choices for sure. Todd would have been next on my list and Kolya and Ladon would have been close behind. I could do without Oberoth, I didn't particularly care for the Pegasus Replicator storyline all that much. I could probably do without Sora or Larin as well, Jill Wagner is hot as hell, but I don't feel like I need an action figure of her. Cowan I could live without as well. I think I'd also like a Colonel Caldwell.

So for a final two waves I'd have to pick the following:

Dr. Beckett
Dr. Zelenka
Lt. Ford
Major Lorne
Woolsey

Todd
Col. Caldwell
Koyla
Ladon
Jeannie Miller

and Michael as a Mail Away

I've almost forgotten I even collect these things anymore... It has been a full year since the last wave of Atlantis stuff and we still haven't even't gotten a firm date on the newest SG-1 wave. Has anyone heard any updates or did the stargate shut down mid-jump?
