Yeah, I'm a junior in high school, too, and am starting to think about careers and colleges and all that jazz.

I've thought about majoring in something with Education. I've always wanted to be a high school teacher, especially after having some of my teachers this year. Does anyone know what specific major you would go for if you are looking to become a history teacher when you're out of college?

Did anyone else see the new Forces of Valor WW2 US soldiers? I like their head sculpts and weapons better, but it seems that 21st Century is still on top with their sculpts and articulation.

Technically, today was the "official" release date for these figures but stores have had them out for about a week.

I would highly reccomend picking at least one up if you're a Halo fan. I bought the GameStop Exclusive Steel CQB Spartan and the figures are top-notch. Great articulation (almost too much), unique paintjobs ("battle damage" and paint details on undersuit), Interchangeable armor, these guys have it all. If they were only an inch and a half shorter, they would be in scale with Star Wars and would blow Hasbro's work out of the water...

Thanks Darth Depressis. I'm glad you like it. I think I have one in my head, but I just need to think of a backdrop to take the pics in. It would look dumb with the same dio in it. :)

Photonovels and Movies / "The Assanination"- a short Photostory
« on: January 7, 2008, 03:22 PM »

Gren Thane couldn't believe his luck. He sat in the cover of a snowcovered tree, keeping alert and thinking that he couldn't possibly get even luckier.

Two figures stood and talked animatedly in a clearing about 5 yards in front of him. They were Del Maric and Idiian Thul, a Rebel leader and a confirmed former Jedi Knight.
Gren breathed slowly. He had tracked Idiian after spotting him in a Coruscant bar late at night. He hit him with some Dust and tracked him over nearly half the galaxy, putitng him here on this small snow and forest planent in the Outer Colonies. This Jedi had a bounty of a little over 900,000 credits, paid for by the Empire. "This Jedi must not be very sensitive," he thought. "I've been following this dikut for two days and he hasn't picked up on it."
He hadn't expected for this Rebel to be here too, and calling him up on his head-comp told he had a bounty of 800,000 credits. He was in a slight shock. As an Imperial IM (Independent Mercenary) he had a string of bad luck, only accumulating about 50,000 credits for a quick smuggler job. He had a wife and daughter to support, and getting these too would allow him to quit this life and get back to his family.
"I'm not out of the woods yet," he quietly chuckled to himself. He activated his hearing assister and tried to listen to their conversation.

"So, you think you wanna join the Rebellion?" Maric barkend gruffly. "I'll tell you one thing, we ain't lookin' for Jedi, we're looking for soldiers. If you try to bring any of that funny Force stuff you'll be out of here faster than you can say 'bantha'. You got that?"

"Sir, I have shut myself out from the Force and packed away my blade. I wish to join you and your soldiers in fighting the force that brought the Jedi Order down," Thul said softly, but with an undercurrent of rage. "I will do anything to exact my revenge upon them."

"Well, that settles it then. I'm sure it'll be great to have you on board, Thul. It's getting pretty cold-let's get outta here."

"Let me take you back to base and I'll show ya around. Let's go."

This was his shot. Gren activated his targeting sensors on his head-comp and double-checked his Verp rifle.

He sighted them up, steadied his rifle, slowed his breathing, and fired two shots- one each into the base of their necks.

He moved up, checked to confirm the kills, and laughed. He couldn't wait to get back to his family and let them know they wouldn't have to work again.

He knelt over their bodies, snapped two pictures of each of their bodies for a positive ID to receive his bounty.

He started to walk back in the direction he came. He was in a slight daze and had a smirk on his face. Life was going to be good again.

Well...there is is. This was mostly the result of just getting bored yesterday and wanting to take pics of the diorama I built and some custom figures. LMK what you think. Thanks for looking.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I really don't like the arms either, but they were the only black bare arms I had because they came with the head. :-[

The 177th Combat Insertion Unit was a unit that specialized in quick insertion and neutralization of an enemy. They were fastroped in off of Gunships all at once, and their main concern, of course, after the mission itself, was to complete the objectives as soon as possible. They had a track record of keeping their assignments under 4 hours.

They became a vital asset to primary assault groups because the large numbers provided a distraction for the 177th to rush in and get the job done. They were attached to so many different legions and had their armor repainted that they eventually just gave up and didn't bother painting their armor anymore.

They were issued an MDC-5, a hybrid of the ARC M5 rifle and the standard infanty DC-15, along with a survival pack, ammunition pouches, and a specialized helmet to protect against concussion in case and insertion goes wrong.

Well, I hope you like him. LMK what you think. Thanks for looking.

I got the German PAK-40 Hanomag for Christmas. I absolutely love it. My only complaint is that I wish it could rotate/elevate a little bit more. I'm not sure whether to leave it as it is or customize it into a mobil artillery vehicle for my Stormtroopers...

I also got a German with an open coat- pretty cool, thouh I just wanted the coat for customs, and I also got one of the new Vietname figures. They're nicely made, the legs and arms are tight even after switching them out, and the accesories are very detailed. My only complaint is that the could've cast the the arms in a fleshtone- the paint is starting to scratch already, even on the fixed arms. :(

The only time I had time to get out there was Sunday afternoon. So I got up there at about 2:30 and stayed for the rest of the show.

I was very pleasantly suprised- they still had alot of great stuff out and since it was near the end of the show, people had marked down their prices a bit.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Marauder John himself (from marauderinc.com) and was able to talk to him for a bit and get some weapons. Just for stopping by the booth you got a free weapon of your choice.

All in all, I got:
RotS Ki-Adi- $5
RotS #41- $5
TSC Death Star Gunner- $7
Marauder Guns- $7
The only real splurge I had was on the TAC Jango Fett for $10. Wasn't a bad price, and I figured I wouldn't see it anyways.

A really great show this year and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: D_N's Customs-Updated June 15th

As soon as I saw Aeseven7's "Mandalorian Commandos" from a while ago, I've always wanted to have a squad of my own. With all the different Mando fodder out there, it wasn't hard to come up with parts. Well, here goes.

The Esowon is a six-man group of Mandalorian warriors based on Coruscant during the Galactic Civil War. Highly infamous for a number of political assasinations, they were wanted by every counter-crime agency in the upper City and operated right under their noses, adopting the name "Esowon" (Mando for "hide").

Crale Sevanar- the squad's medic who is trained in several methods of first aid on multiple species. That's not to say he's an easy target- he is a formidable foe in battle.

CRALE SEVANAR
Age: 35
Homeworld: Coruscant
Weapon of Choice- dual DH-17 blaster pistols

Caton Koraddo- the squad leader and the only true rifleman of the group. When he was a child, engine clear was sprayed into his eyes leaving him nearly blind. He was outfitted with a special goggle that is directly connected to his brain that outputs a high-defintion picture of the world with added zoom capabilities.

CATON KORRADO
Age: 47
Homeworld: Correlia
Weapon of Choice: K50 Silenced Blaster Rifle

Boone Hornen- the squad's sniper. He carries his rifle when on the move in a case on his back. Calm, collected, and highly sarcastic, he has a unique sense of humor that keeps the squad's spirits high.

BOONE HORNEN
Age: 30
Homeworld: Naboo

Stev Doorna- the squad's radioman and heavy gunner. Very gung-ho and rugged, he is virtually fearless and will stick with the squad no matter what.

STEV DOORNA

Homeworld: Alderaan
Weapon of Choice- MerrSon R46 Heavy Shoulder-Mounted Repeating Blaster

Ranik Hardin- a former Imperial Intelligence operative, he is the squad's scout, often scouting an area/tracking a target before the operation. He is the squad's youngest member and somewhat of a recluse.

Age: 24

Vosh Zythor- a former Rebel ace, he is the squad's pilot and engineer. He has doubts about leaving the Rebellion and has a very guilty conscience.

I picked up the new wave of the Elite Force BBi figures minus the new WW2 Paratroopers- Marine Force Recon (1 Forest Camo, 1 Desert, 1 Sleeveless Desert), Delta Force (1 operator, 1 paratrooper), and Navy Seals (1 Para Diver). I can take some pics tomorrow and put them up if anyone's interested. Excellent, excellent figures, better than all the other 1/18th military figs out now and I love the one Delta Force figure more than a SW one. :P

Well, it's officially here. Went out and got my 360 last night (just kept putting it off and off  :P) and I'll be going out after school with friends to buy the game. I can't justify missing class and making up work for a video game.

Yeah, all I saw at my TRU was 2 of the same figure- the DAK officer who I already have. :(

Yeah, I saw the BBi stuff at Target and the 21st Century stuff (just figs, no vehicles, then again, maybe I'm not looking in the right place0) at TRU on Sunday.

They didn't have anything interesting at TRU, just stuff I already have, but at Target I hit the jackpot. Got some cool vehicles, and it looks like they are re-releasing the Marines in the newer packaging. Also found some Stormies in the SW section. :)

Not a bad show today...showed up from 2:30 to 4:30, saw Jeremy Bulloch (didn't feel like shelling out 20 bucks for an autograph ( ::)), and picked up some great deals. I got a loose ATTE Gunner ($7), a loose SA clone ($6), a carded ROTS Plo Koon ($5), and a loose VOTC Fett ($15, something I've been wanting for a very long time). Then I stopped at the Robinson WalMart on the way home and found 2 TAC Stormies.

I am SO glad that 21st is now being sold at TRU. I was never able to find any vehicles at WalMart so maybe now I'll have a chance.

Cool pics of the Quad .50 and the Tiger. Those pre-production samples of the Platoon figures are cool too. I like the pre-posed legs especially if they are going to be able to switched out. That's really great.

If only Hasbro could be on par with the amount and quality of some of 21st's stuff...
