Star Wars Ships and Vehicles / Re: Republic Dropship
« on: July 12, 2008, 11:26 PM »
I'm pretty sure those are both customs done in 2002/2003. I remember an article on Hasbro.com... I think the maker won a contest for best Young Collector or something of that nature. He got an action figure of himself, I believe. But yeah, that picture has been around for quite some time. Sorry to burst your bubble.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: CW Homing Spider Droid
« on: July 9, 2008, 08:54 PM »
I think the no pilot/all droid is the way it is in the movie. The sphere kinda lends itself to a cockpit and also adds more play value. I know I prefer the figure interaction with vehicles, especially when overall accuracy is not sacrificed.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Who Is Not Buying?
« on: July 8, 2008, 11:57 PM »
I'm buying. I'm just unsure of how much. Like many of you, I'm all over the vehicles. 2 AT-TEs, 4 Spiders, 2-4 V-19s, a couple of Gunships. As for the figures, I know I'll get some but I don't know how many. On the 26th I'm down for 4-8 Clones and 4-8 Battle Droids. The animated and weathered figures really appeal to me for some reason, so I don't think a small collection will hurt. I cannot justify many basic figures due to the $8 price and the other option for figures. (5 for $20 in the Battle Packs) The Clone Wars line will be very pick and choose for me due to the battle Packs being much better values. I cannot say that I'll be getting a lot of the Legacy line, either. I'm game for a Ak-Rev, Bane Malar, a couple of Ewoks, and 4 of those IG Droids. Then I'm done until whatever comes next. Overall I'll be very selective with both figures and army building. I'm going to try to avoid the clean deco figures (especially Clone Troopers) if a dirty deco is available... this is how I roll with my current collection so I'll continue with the animated stuff.

My biggest problem thus far is with the release information for the 26th and beyond. For the ROTS launch, Toy Fair was a couple of months before so we had a really good idea of what to expect. For The Clone Wars, we only know of two (maybe three) waves of figures that will be available. Other than that, we know of two $20 vehicles, some Evolutions, and the big vehicle's. For all we know the rest could be repacks... more repacked $20 vehicles, battle packs, and comic packs. Sure, I'm looking forward to July 26th but I'm pissed that I'll most likely know what to expect a couple of days/nights before.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Marauder Inc.
« on: June 30, 2008, 10:03 PM »
Marauder will be at Joe Con in Dallas this month, I'm sure he'll have a timeline on his newest items.  I'll also snap some photos if he has new product...after I buy it of course.

Hey Paul. I was wondering if you found anything about the next wave of guns. My Storm Troopers are waiting anxiously to get their hands on some MG-34 rifles.

Joe Defender / G.I. Joe Toys Thread
« on: June 30, 2008, 10:01 PM »
Boy oh boy, these new Joes look sweet. Every time I pass these guys at Target I want to restart this line. The stuff displayed at Joecon looks awesome. Desert troopers, Greenshirts, a tank, a Rattler (looks like an A-10 Warthog... is that right?) Everything is so cool looking. If it weren't for the amount of Star Wars stuff coming out and the HTF nature of the basic figures, I'd be all over this new stuff. You Joe collectors are probably going to have a blast this fall!

Bought some figures from Rob several weeks ago. Great guy, fast communication, awesome products, and fast shipping! I would not hesitate to do further business with him... highly recommended!

Completed my first trade with Justin and I would not hesitate to do further business. He hooked me up with a bunch of Clone Troopers and was really patient with me regarding shipping and such. Highly recommended!

As good of an idea as it is, I don't think it will happen. If you know when Target has what you want, you won't go as often. When you don't go as often, then you aren't as tempted to pick up that new movie that you wanted to see, or try those new potato chips. For me, when I go on a toy run and start coming up empty handed, I'm lured into buying other stuff that I may or may not want.

For example, I went to Target last week. No toys to buy, so I picked up the new Coldplay album. If I knew when Target had the toys I wanted, I would only go to Target to buy toys. All of my music purchases would be reserved for iTunes, food purchases would be reserved for Food Lion or Lowes, etc. That would cost Target some business, so that's bad for them.

The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Galactic Battlegrounds
« on: June 25, 2008, 01:01 PM »
Cool stuff. Shoot me a PM if you want to work something out. I still am kinda bad at the game due to only playing it again a couple of weeks ago, but an online game would still be a lot of fun.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: TX-130 Saber class fighter tank-PLEASE!
« on: June 24, 2008, 10:26 AM »
Master Sal, you're not thinking like Hasbro. If the tank is made, we'll eventually have repaints for each major (hell, even minor) Jedi character thrown our way. I cannot wait to own Kit Fisto's Green, Yellow, and Orange TX-130 fighter Tank.

Hell, speaking of repaints, why hasn't the AT-AP had repaints for Jedi? I want Anakin Skywalker's bright yellow Assault Walker!

On a serious note, Hasbro usually matches Lego on the cheaper ($20-$30) vehicle front. Sometimes there is a delay of a few months, but it seems to eventually happen if the vehicle is action oriented or very prominent. Judging by the pattern below, I'd say these vehicles (tank and Droid Gunship) will be out by the end of the year.

Attack of the Clones
       - Jedi Starfighter (Hasbro and Lego versions available upon launch day)
       - Slave 1 (Hasbro and Lego versions available upon launch day)
       - Coruscant Speeders (Hasbro and Lego versions available upon launch day)
       - Republic Gunship (Lego available on launch day, Hasbro's is available several months later)
       - Anakin's and Dooku's Speeders (Lego available upon launch day, Hasbro releases exclusives in 2003)
       - Geonosian Fighter (Lego available late 2002/early 2003, Hasbro released in late 2003)
        - Hailfire Droid (Lego and Hasbro versions released months apart in 2003)

Revenge of the Sith
        - Wookiee Flyer (Hasbro and Lego versions available upon launch day)
        - AT-RT (Hasbro and Lego versions available upon launch day)
        - ARC-170 (Hasbro and Lego versions available upon launch day)
        - Spider Droid (Hasbro and Lego versions released a couple of months apart)
        - Mustafar Playset (Hasbro and Lego versions released several months apart)
        - Droid Tri-Fighter (Hasbro and Lego versions available upon launch day)
        - Jedi Starfighter (Hasbro and Lego versions available prior to launch day)
        - Boga/Grievous' Wheelbike (Hasbro and Lego versions available upon launch day)
        - V-Wing (2006 Lego Release, 2007 Hasbro Release)
-Grievous' Starfighter (2006 Lego Release, 2007 Hasbro release)
-AT-AP (Hasbro and Lego versions available in early 2007)

I'd say there is a pretty strong correlation between what Lego and Hasbro produce in movie years. This is already lining up this year with the AT-TE, Republic Gunship, V-19, Jedi Starfighter, and Homing Spider Droid. I can't say this enough: Hasbro will produce this tank before too long.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Legacy Wave 3 - Repaints/Repacks
« on: June 24, 2008, 09:59 AM »
Lack-luster wave for me too. If the Imperial engineer is from BFII, wouldn't he be just a repaint from the BFII set?

I hate to come off as a know-it-all jackass, but some folks are getting the Imperials confused with the Republic Troopers. The BF II sets were based on the Republic and Seperatist factions... the Imperial faction is completely different, like the movies.

I'm thinking the this will be a Death Star Gunner figure with a gray jumpsuit. It would be nice if Hasbro included an AT-ST Driver Helmet to make the figure similar to the game(s). (The costumes changed depending on what planet you fought on)

The Legacy Collection / Re: Legacy Collection Rumors
« on: June 24, 2008, 02:02 AM »
I cannot help but think that a lot of these 'rumor' lists are just fan wishlists. If these are true, then Hasbro seems to be cranking out a helluva lot of collector friendly figures. If they were going to end the line by the end of 2010, I could see all of these coming out. As of now, I think a lot of these are just the ideal figures for the Legacy Collection dreamed up by some fanboy or ideas that are in really, really early stages of development at the Big H.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: TX-130 Saber class fighter tank-PLEASE!
« on: June 23, 2008, 03:31 PM »
I think the Clone Wars series/movie has increased our chances of seeing this greatly. Lego is cranking out this tank, so perhaps Hasbro will make one before too long.
