Have you ever been to Texas for an extended period?

That's also pretty narrow minded don't you think?

Must be nice guys.  I live in Texas, and the lowest I've seen is $2.67, and I had a full tank that day.  Most places are still $2.80-2.90.

I was so excited watching the 'Stros mount their comeback.  Like John, I didn't think STL would be able to do anything.  Then a couple of baserunner's later I started to worry a bit.

Then the commentators start talking (like they always do, just shut the **** up so I can watch the game without your ******* rambling!!), the mentioned giving Pujols a diet of sliders.  What the hell!!!!  You can't go up there and throw the same pitch every time.  The hitter will get his timing down and then hit a majestic blast, just like Pujols did.  Lidge needed to throw slider, fastball, then changeup on consecutive pitches to throw off the hitter's timing.

But the Astros are throwing Oswalt tomorrow and Clemens on Thursday, so there is still hope to see a World Series game in Texas.  Too bad it's not my Rangers.

Power of the Force 2 / Is there a POTF trilogo Bespin Han??
« on: October 17, 2005, 07:48 PM »
Just like the title says?

I've got all the basic POTF2 Han Solo's on trilogo cards (being a Han collector), but I can't seem to find this particular variation.  I've asked some of my UK buddies, but they don't seem to know either.

Can anyone help me out here?  If so, are you looking to deal?

I've been trying to pick up a ROTJ Hoth Han for a while and was outbid in the final minutes on one yesterday.  So I waited and sniped one yesterday afternoon.  The bubble is a little yellow, but I finally go this.  My MOC focus right now is trying to get a Han on each cardback, SW, ESB, ROTJ, and POTF. I'm going for a basic run and then may go back later and try for different cardback variations.  I'm trying to get one Han in each outfit on each cardback.  The SW/ESB smuggler gear outfits are going to cost me a bit so I decided to start kind of low end.  I'll post pics sometime of my run.

I agree that the umpire blew the call and unfortunately for the Angels, it put the winning run on 1st.  However, over the course of a 162 game season, plus playoffs, the umpires get it right 99% of the time.  From the angle of the umpire, it couldn't tell if the ball bounced or not...I give him that, he can check with the infield umpires on that, but they clearly deferred the call to home plate on consultation.  As a baseball fan, I hate seeing this happen to any team...even if it had been the Yankees.

The problem to me lies with the umpire giving the out signal as he had been doing all night long on both third strikes and outs.  That to me was a bad call by the umpire.  But, had the Angels hit the ball a little better, or had Mark Buerhle (sp?) not been in the groove as he was, the 9th inning strikeout wouldn't have mattered.  Although the call was blown, this is one of the things that makes baseball interesting to me.  The human error factor can change the direction of a game.

I hope my points here didn't sound like someone rambling on.

Star Wars Ships and Vehicles / Needing custom/real X wing canopy
« on: October 10, 2005, 08:48 AM »
I'm not sure if I should put this in the trading section or the custom parts need, so I'm just making a new thread.

I'm looking for either a vintage or modern X wing canopy.  If one of those can't be found, I wouldn't mind a custom canopy.

I know some of you guys do casting and if someone could help me out so I can finish a custom X/TIE ugly that I've been stalemated on due to not having the one part I need to finish.

I can pay or trade stuff that I might have that you need.  Just let me know if anyone can help me out.  Thanks.

I just want to direct some to what I posted earlier in this thread and also one over at RS.

Quote from: Chris_M
I've been around the oil business all my life, mainly because that is the career my dad chose.  He doesn't have anything to do with pricing and whatnot, but he did give me some interesting info about the demand for oil and why the price has jumped.

I'll type a bit here but I've got to get ready to go in a minute.  He said since 1978, there have been no refineries made in the United States.  Environmental groups have protested against it and laws have been passed that makes it virtually impossible to refine oil in the US.  Therefore we have to go overseas to purchase about 60% of what is in the US.  Obviously the other 40% is done here in the refineries we have in place.  If we could build refineries here, that would help with the cost of oil, a lot!!  Is there more oil in the US??  Most certainly yes, if environmental groups would allow for the drilling of it in certain areas, that woul help relieve some of the pain at the pump.  Recently, (can't remember the bill right now), a bill went through Congress authorizing drilling in Alaska.  Finally we can get into the oil fields we've wanted for years.  But, it could be years before we feel the effects of that simply because of the oil refinery problem.

Also, people talk about BIG oil companies.  There are only three of them, and there are no middle men in the business.  The 3 companies take the shipments from overseas, send it here on their own ships, offload, take it to the gas stations in their trucks.  No middle man there.  Another thing by dad brought up that I think some people have overlooked, we keep paying for gas.  (Of course, we don't have an option if we want to drive though.)  Until recently, there hasn't been a lot of loud complaining about the price.

Oil companies know that we are willing to pay whatever we have for gas.  We live in a free market economy.  So, the companies can raise the price if they see fit and we have to pay it, because we need to.  Obviously we want lower prices, but the oil companies continue to make money because of good old supply and demand.  In my mind, both the consumer and the oil companies are the problem.  As consumers we haven't pushed hard enough for alternative fuels, and like any business in a free economy, the oil companies increased their prices.

I know some of you aren't going to be happy with this, but my dad has been in the oil business for 40 years so I'll believe what he has to say.  So don't bash what I've posted here.  I just wanted to get this bit of info out there for all to see.

Of course, there are other mitigating factors that go into the oil business, such as tax relief, but that is a discussion for another site.  I'm just breaking this info down from a good source into it's most simplistic form.  One other thing to consider...is the media creating a false panic??  Many people either don't possess the ability or don't care enough to educate themselves beyond what they see or hear on TV...but again, that's a discussion for some other time.  Therefore, they get this sense that gas is going to be almost impossible to find, and therefore rush to fill their tanks when they don't need it, thereby creating a true shortage, although one that should only last for a few days.

I have a few guns.

A Marlin .22 that I use to just shoot at stupid crap when I'm bored.
A 12 gauge Mossberg 500 for good ol' Dove/Quail huntin'.
A Winchester semi auto 20 gauge.

I'm also planning on getting a CHL and will probably pick up a Beretta .40.
