LEGO / Re:Tie Fighter Lego
« on: December 20, 2002, 06:42 PM »
I got my free mini Lego Tie Fighter in the mail yesterday as well.  Simple, yet fun little set this is.  I even assembled this bad boy without even peeking at the instructions once (really, I swear!) - first time that's ever happened for me with a Lego set, for sure!  I know what you're all thinking:  God, this guy's amazing to put this whole set together all on his own - he must be some kind of genius!  Well, you'd all be correct there.  In fact, I really wonder if anyone else will be able to do the same, or if I was the only one clever enough...   :P  Let me know if you were able to put it together without cheating too - but I'm going to need some serious visual proof, 'cause I likely won't believe you!

Anyways, it'll be fun to collect this mini line, and display all the tiny little different ships together.  I just hope that now that Lego has delved into this new line, that they go all the way and do every last ship - at least for the Original Trilogy, 'cause I hate to own anything less than a "complete" set...of anything!

Looking forward to getting some more of these little suckers!  Drop a line in here if/when anyone finds them!  They should be hitting retail pretty soon, I'd imagine...

Hey!  Welcome aboard reconsgt!

Always good to have another Pack fan around here to keep Scott/OCB in his place!  Kick your feet up, relax, and hang out for a while..

Yep!  I've got all of the Action Fleet and MicroMachines to date, but only for the Original Trilogy and EU - I laid off of them for the prequels though.

Actually, there are still a few items that I'm missing:  The second wave of those 3 EU novel book sets, one more of the MINI-head 3-packs (the walnut sized ones with one figure in them), and the Holy Grail of A.F. - the Tie Defender.  Unfortunately, these items are extremely HTF and go for some pretty big bucks when they do occasionally surface.

I love miniature stuff in general, so these two lines really fill that need for me when it comes to the SW universe.

The Kenner DieCast Collection from the early 80's will always be the King of the smaller scale though.  Those sets were the best - with the most incredibly detailed play environments ever in Star Wars toys.  I really wish Hasbro would bring something back along those lines.  The Action Fleet ships of today do quite nicely, but the playsets still have room for improvement.  I'd also like to see Hasbro start doing the Action Fleet ships more in scale to eachother, or at least moreso (within reason) for some of the larger ships (AT-AT, Falcon).

Power of the Jedi / Re:POTJ Mexican 4 Pack.

Man, did my jaw drop when I got it out of the parcel box.
Not a scratch or crease on it.  Absolutely MINT.

Nice score Dale!  It's always refreshing to pull an item that you've been sent out of the package and to see that it's in MINT condition.

I've had two pretty HTF variations get completely ruined during transit by USPS lately:  Dexter with insert and an Ep. 1 Yoda with "Episode 1" printed on the card.  I didn't even have to open them to know that they were thrashed though - I could tell just be looking at the extensive damage to the boxes they were each shipped in.  Truly sad.  I'm not much of a variation hunter, but these are a couple that I've been trying to add to my collection for some time.  What really sucked, was that I got some excellent trading deals for those two pieces as well, that I'll likely not get again.  Oh well, I guess the search for them MOMC continues...

I wouldn't mind adding one of those Mexican 4-packs to my collection as well.  Pretty cool looking - with some nice figures to boot (aside from annorexic Chipmunk Luke).

Power of the Jedi / Re:°*° Star Tours *°*
« on: December 19, 2002, 08:22 PM »
Just thought that I'd mention to everyone here that I pass right by Disneyland every few weeks (to see my family), and I can pick anybody up some of the Star Tours figures at cost ($10) plus shipping.  I can even look for the nicest MOMC one's if you're into that kinda thing.  Give me a hollar if you're still looking for any of these (the first 6), and hopefully I can help you out!

I'm really starting to wonder about that third wave though, with absolutely NO overseas or eBay sitings to date.  Hopefully they're still on the way.  If not, Hasbro better stick a beautifully resculpted R5-D4 on one of those new Saga cards, or else...!

On a side note, my wife and I went to Disneyland a couple weeks ago, and it was fun to go through the Star Tours line and see all the droids there that I now have as figures.  I hadn't even noticed a few of them before!

Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Testing...
« on: December 19, 2002, 05:45 PM »
Sorry Scott, but I'm gonna mooch off your thread here and use it as my "test area" to try out all the bells and whistles that come with this forum.  Thanks!

Phantom Menace

Cool glowing effect!   8)Why can't any other normal text go on the same line as the glowing text?

I'd strongly suggest staying away from yellow when using the glow effect.

[shadow=green,left,300]Fun with shadows...[/shadow]Why don't the shadowed words appear on the same line?

If you can't read this before it crosses the screen, then you need some serious help!
Testing: Yadda, yadda, yadda...

Just got a box of tasty Winter Brews!  Should tide me over nicely while the wife is away this weekend!

  • Luke
  • Han
  • Leia
  • Vader
  • Obi-Wan
  • Chewie
How 'bout the proper color to hide spoilers:  Is this hidden? Not quite, but probably as close as we're gonna get! Let's try this color:  Episode 3  No cigar.  I don't think we have the proper font color available to hide text against this background unfortunately.  Of course, this will change in every other post apparently, with the two different background shades...

I like that there's the capability to alter the font size!

How do I do the URL thing where I type in a link, but it shows up disguised as text with some other words that I typed in (great explanation, huh)?  I don't see a URL button here similar to at RS or GH...

ESPN  Hmm... Guess you just have to know how to do it yourself.

Vintage Kenner / Re: What Do You Collect?
« on: December 19, 2002, 04:34 PM »
As far as Vintage goes, I have a near complete set of loose figures - mostly from my childhood with a majority of the POTF holes filled in later on.  The missing Stormie Luke and Yak Face have has kept my collection from being complete for about 11 years now.  I lost some of my zest to go after them when I found out the modern line was coming (back in '95) and they'd probably be included therein.  I hope to pick them up soon just to finish off the loose figure collection.  I've got about 75% of the Vintage ships and playsets as well.

I'm hoping to start working on a carded Vintage collection this year.  My goal is to go after every figure, on it's premiere card, with no offers, in C-8.5+ condition.  That shouldn't be too tough, right?   ::)

When it comes to the modern line, I'm an absolutely obsessive compulsive Carded and Loose completist freak.  Figures, ships, playsets - everything!  Currently, I'm only missing an "opener" of the MOTDS and the Ep. 1  Battle Amidala, along with an Ep. 1 Eopie.  Those are some pretty easy to acquire and affordable pieces from what I understand...   ;)

Newbies / Cool new digs you've got here!
« on: December 19, 2002, 03:33 AM »
Hey everyone!  I'm sure most of you are already familiar with my exceptionally fine work on the boards of 'Scum and GH, but I figured I'd drop by and grace you all with my presence here as well!   ;)

The new (updated) site looks great Chris!  Kudos to you and the rest of the JediDefender team for a job well done so far.  Glad to finally join in on the fun.

Besides, some Scott character who occasionally runs under the alias of OCB keeps pestering me about my Championship sports teams and my alter-ego Jan, so I don't want him to be able to retreat to these forums in safety anymore!  Better watch your back Scott, 'cause Jan's comin' for ya'!  I gave you my address, right?!   :)

As far as collecting goes, I'm pretty much complete with my loose Vintage collection and am close to delving into taking a stab at putting together a carded set as well (scary prospect, I know).  When it comes to the modern line, I'm an obsessive compulsive completist of both carded and loose.  It's a sickness really...

Now everyone please hurry off to my new trading thread here, and hook me up with those last couple pieces I need to make my modern collection complete!  And please don't play favorites with any of the staff members here *cough*Scott*cough* who might also need the highly coveted MOTDS.  Much obliged!
