Watto's Junk Yard / Replacement Power Cable for Regular old X-Box
« on: December 30, 2005, 12:34 AM »
Did anyone get the replacement cable a few months back?  I got one but forgot to plug it in.  I was doing some cleaning last week and I finally switched them out - and thinking nothing of it I threw away the old one.

Well, the new cable has a surge protection thing in it and now my Xbox shuts off about every 30 minutes.  Once it shuts off I have to wait a long time for it to cool down before it's playable again.

Anyone have any solutions for this?  Do I just have to buy an older (less safe presumably?) cable so I can get my game going?  I've emailed Xbox but thought I'd ask around in the meantime while I wait to hear from them.

Thanks in advance.

I need them MOMC - any reasonable offers would be entertained.

I've got a small number of items available for trade - nothing fancy, but I do have a Loose complete 1995 Millenuim Falcon, and a OTC Millenium falcon that is missing the cockpit glass (it was used in the commercial).

I've also got a bag full of left over asteroids from the OTC Falcon commercial if anyone is interested.

So I'm having a large amount of dust around my place and I want to get some type of air filtration system going.  The dust has gotten out of freaking control - I'm sweeping every other day and even sweeping is kicking dust back up onto everything etc...

I'm looking at the Ionic Breeze - but it's like $360.  There are cheaper versions of the same thing for $200.00

I'm also concerned that the Ionic Breeze doesn't actually have any fans or anything - so if the air in the room is still, theoretically the air won't move through the system.

Anyone have anything employed in their households?  Anyone know anything about the Ionic Breeze or similar units?

Reasons to get something that actually uses filters instead of Ionic breeze style stuff?

Any other types of things I could try to cut down on dust?  I keep my place quite clean, but it's just freaking everywhere - more than anyplace I've ever lived, and I can't figure out why.

Hey Hasbro! / Enough With The Exclusives Already...

This Stealth Trooper is a joke right?

Between this, the Star Wars Shop Wedge, The Comic Con Leia, the Target Lava Vader, the Toys R' Us Holo Yoda, the Star Tours Figures, the Toys R Us Holo Emperor, the Entertainment Earth Clones, the Diamond Comics Bounty Hunter pack, The Target TIE Fighter, The Kaybee ROTS 9 Pack, The K-Mart Jedi Temple Assault Battle Pack, The Entertainment Earth Astromechs, The K-Mart Throne Room Battlepack, the Celebration III Vader, and The Target SA Clone Trooper, the Toys R Us Obi-Wan starfighter, The Toys R Us, Anakin starfighter, the Target Plo Koon Starfighter, The Walmart Early Bird Kit, the Toys R Us Millenium Falcon, the 9 Target Cup and Figure sets, The Toys R Us Hoth Battlepack, and the three Walmart DVD packs, the Kaybe 12" Chewbacca, the Target Anakin and Obi Wan with Fire Bases...

I've gotta say I've had just about enough of these overpriced, Holographed, repainted, and/or resculpted exclusives.

Please stop.

Jocasta's Reading Room / Check my work - novels timeline
« on: July 15, 2005, 11:26 AM »
Hi Everyone.  I'm currently trashing all of my old paperback novels (giving them to a buddy of mine) and replacing them with Hardcover copies.  I'm trying to get a solid list together of what is out there.

If any of you guys could check my work and see if I've missed any titles I'd appreciate it.  If anyone knows of any books that were never released in hardcover (and I'm sure there are some on here) feel free to mention that. :)  I'm guessing that there a lot of books that never existed in Hardcover - which is disappointing.

Lastly, if anyone has good condition Hardcover copies of any of these that don't have an X, I'm buying (but they're generally going pretty cheap so don't be offended if I'm not willing to pay 10 or 15 dollars.)

Any info is appreciated - and if by some chance a complete list exists in this section, feel free to point me to it - I'm new to this area of the forums.

Thanks in advance!

Revenge of the Sith / Crispy Anakin Vs. Extra Crispy Anakin...
« on: July 8, 2005, 11:25 AM »
Does anyone have a picture of the two versions side by side?  Or is this maybe a made up report and not even really true?

As of yesterday I had 4 of this Anakin figure - they looked identical except for the chests.  Two were essentially bare flesh, two were pockmarked with burns.

Is that the variation?  Is this even a real variation?  If what I described ISN'T the variation, does anyone have a decent picture that compares the two?

Watto's Junk Yard / Looking for advice on Granite Countertops
« on: June 26, 2005, 08:22 PM »
Okay, anyone have Granite counters in their kitchen?

Mine are starting to look cloudy if the light hits them at the right angle...

The guy at Lowes today said I should buy car wax and wax them just like I would my car.  He says he's been doing this to Granite for years and years and it works great.

I'm a bit hesitant to start waxing away at my counters though.

Anyone have any tips for shining these things up other than that oen?  Or has anyone actually tried that and had any luck?

Thanks in advance!

Revenge of the Sith / Super Rare Royal Guard Auction....
« on: April 8, 2005, 11:35 AM »
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2476&item=5967207177&rd=1

I decided to bring this thread over here because I'm having fun with it and, would rather discuss it here as it unfolds.
This super-rare piece of nothing, ended at 13 dollars, and the reserve wasn't even met.

So, before the auction ended I basically emailed the seller and called her out on the bogus auction (while giving a little politness just incase it was an honest mistake) and yesterday I receieved the following reply:

Quote
FYI, I HAVE A RED GUARD FORM ROTS IN HIS OWN BOX WITH THE RED GUARD ON THE BACK SAYING SOMETHING TOTALLY different from THE ONE THAT HAS THE BLUE GUARD ON THE BACK. SO BEFORE YOU POINT FINGERS AND ACCUSE SOMEONE FOR MISLEADING PEOPLE DO YOUR HOME WORK.

FOR YOU NEW STAR WARS FANS WHO JUST STARTED TO FIND OUT ABOUT STAR WARS BECAUSE OF EPISODES 1 2 AND 3. THE BLUE AND RED GUARDS ARE TO DIFFERENT CHARACTERS. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THAT JUST CHANGED FROM BLUE TO RED OVER THE YEARS.

This clearly warranted further response - so the last email I sent said the following:

Quote
FYI, I have been a Star Wars fan for over 20 years. I have been collecting Star Wars toys for over 10 years now. All of the Red Guards come on the SAME EXACT CARD BACK as the Blue Guards. They are a variation in terms of packaging, and not two separate figures as evidenced by the fact that BOTH blue and red come as number III-23. I am fully aware that the Blue Guards become the Red Guards in the film. Yet this doesn't change the fact that you don't seem to understand what Hasbro is putting out and what's rare and what's not - because your item is NOT any type of error or variation, it is the standard, regular, ordinary release of the Red Royal Guard.

If you do infact have a Red Guard with a Red Guard pictured on the back, which I do not believe you when you say you do, THAT is the rare one and would be a production error, and not a variation. I know because I now have 7 Red Guards and 4 Blue Guards, and every single one of them came on a card with the BLUE Guard pictured on the back - just like your 'very rare' item in the auction.

Next time save your high-and-mighty accusations about being a prequel-era fan for some other schmoe and enjoy the 13 bucks you just ripped someone off for.

Anyone heard of any version of this thing with any picture other than the BLUE one on the back?  I sure haven't...

Watto's Junk Yard / Everyone, you need to check this out.
« on: April 5, 2005, 12:18 AM »
This website was brought to my attention recently, and I thought it was worth passing along for those who might not have already known about it...

www.criminalcheck.com

You can search by zipcode and find out if there are any registered sex offenders in your area.

There were 52 in my zipcode and while I'm not a parent, it certainly is disturbing nonetheless.
